Vladimir Putin has ordered changes to Russian nuclear doctrine in the past.
The doctrine has been Russia would not use nukes first.
And as long as America had the same policy, there was a certain degree of Neutrality and calm in relation to tensions between the two great superpowers.
America forfeited alternate policy to permit a first strike and, of necessity, Russia is responding.
Russia is updating its nuclear doctrine to define circumstances that could prompt Moscow to launch a nuclear first strike.
Putin told a meeting of the National Security Council Wednesday suggested an expanded list of threats that could include reliable information of a major airstrike being launched against Russia now.
He's talking there about a preemptive strike when they know the West is about to hit Russia.
This is already permissible.
Under international law, you're allowed to launch a preemptive strike if you know there's an immediate threat, you're about to be hit.
So what's going on here is making Russian nuclear policy conform to international law.
The United States also had that benefit in the past, but now basically, in my opinion, they have made us far more vulnerable and the world far less safe.
It remains, of course, they're entitled to that.
I think Russia is going to have the better of this, and it was a calamity for the US to change its policy.
Aggression against Russia by any non-nuclear state, I add parenthetically, such as Ukraine, supported by a nuclear power, should be treated as their joint attack The President said that is a clear warning that if the US, UK, France, Germany continue to support Ukraine in attacks on Russia, they will be regarded as totally appropriate.
Moscow would also consider Resorting to a nuclear response, if it received reliable information about a massive missile airstrike launched by another state against Russia, its closest ally, I think about to be launched, or its closest ally, Belarus, according to Putin.
A weapons used in an enemy's potential strike could include anything from ballistic or cruise missiles to strategic aircraft and drones.
We reserve the right to use nuclear weapons in case of aggression against Russia and Belarus, adding that the principle had already been corroded with myths.
Nuclear weapons can be used if an enemy poses a critical threat to either state sovereignty through the use of conventional weapons alone.

Meanwhile, While Russia is prepared for a war it doesn't want to fight, NATO is preparing for a war it seems all too eager to fight.

Without logistics, you have no supply, you have no munitions, you have no food, you cannot move forward.
Confirmed this week, the security bloc is working to ensure it has the operational capacity to extract large numbers of wounded troops from the front lines.
Well, Russia's already declared it has the right to use tactical nukes, and frankly, when tactical nukes are used, you don't have any bodies to extract.
Remember, it's going to be a situation where if we go to all that nuclear war, the living will envy the dead.
As Einstein observed, He was unsure with what World War III would be fought, but he was confident World War IV would be fought with sticks and stones.
Bear that in mind.
The German general warned that, unlike allies' experience in Afghanistan and Iraq, an all-out war with Russia would likely see NATO incur heavy losses across a huge battlefield.
Yes! Across Germany, across France, across the UK, and across the United States.
Now they have a map about how NATO could prepare for a Russian attack, but it seemed to me rather bizarre because it really suggests Russia is going to be the aggressor when in fact it's been the case that NATO is the aggressor throughout all of this, these provocations.
Russia doesn't want this.
Russia has been eager to arrange for a ceasefire in the peace agreement.
They've been vetoed by the West.
What do we have here?
We have a buildup of military stockpiles by Russia.
We have a switch to a wartime economy by Russia.
We have heavy losses of personnel and supplies in Ukraine.
Well, the losses have been borne by Ukraine, not by Russia, by an order of nine or ten to one.
We do have Iran and North Korea supplying weapons to Russia.
All of that is true.
So what can happen?
Well, they talk about improved aerial defenses in the North, increased supply of long-range weapons, which are right now on the hot seat.
We have preparing armies and population for war.
That takes a lot of time, and frankly, I don't see NATO prepared for any of this.
Preparing logistics for mass casualty evacuation, as I say, It's only gonna be ashes, nothing to evacuate.
Strengthen defenses along the Eastern Front, all of that is hope, frankly, in my opinion.
NATO cannot win a war against Russia, and yet seems eager to have it happen.
Meanwhile, we have Al Jazeera reporting.

Biden admin pledges surge in support, but friction growing between Donald Trump and the Ukrainian leader.
Ukrainian President Zelensky has met with President Biden, Democrat candidate Kamala Harris, that must have been fascinating, as the Ukrainian leader sought to shore up support ahead of the US election in November.
The series of Washington D.C. meeting Thursday came as Zelensky has called for more military aid to his embattled country, regardless of who wins the upcoming vote.
Biden and Harris have both pledged continued support for Kyiv, while the Republican candidate, former President Trump, and several vocal members of their party have continually called it into question.
The United States will provide Ukraine with the support it needs to win this war, Biden said in his statement, but it can't win the war.
So that's all feudal, just a waste of more money and troops and materiel.
We are running out of munitions.
So what happens?
Biden announces 8 billion more in military aid to Ukraine a day after Putin warns war may go nuclear.
The Biden admin announced Thursday, yesterday, the U.S. will be providing Ukraine with another $8 billion in military aid, including new long-range munitions and guide bombs that can travel 81 miles.
I hope that's false.
One day after Putin warned he may use nuclear weapons if the West gives Ukraine long-range weapons to launch large strikes inside of Russia.

Jewish Governor Josh Shapiro signed bomb meant to be dropped on Russia with Zelensky at a weapon factory in Pennsylvania.
They brought the Israeli tradition of signing bombs to Ukraine.
Zelensky did say he wants to turn Ukraine into another Israel.

They're basically giving away these weapons to Taiwan.
And then they're going to turn around and buy new ones to replace them.

Israel on Thursday rejected a US and French proposal for a ceasefire in Lebanon, continuing to launch heavy airstrikes in the country.
Later in the day, Lebanon's health ministry said Israeli strikes had killed 92 in the previous 24-hour period.
The US and France are calling for a 21-day ceasefire, but the US continues to provide military aid to Israel, Vowing to defend Israel if the situation escalates, giving Prime Minister Netanyahu no incentive to stop his new bombing campaign.
Netanyahu's office released a statement denying reports that there's been progress on a ceasefire, vowing to continue hitting Lebanon hard and keep up the onslaught in Gaza.
The report about a ceasefire is incorrect.
The PM has not even responded to the statement, nor will he, at least not favorably.
Meanwhile, Lebanon burns.

Israel expanded genocide beyond Gaza.
Not only is Israel bombing and committing genocide in Gaza, but it's now wrapping up violence against Lebanon in the past few days.
Massive Israeli strikes have killed more than 500, constituting the country's bloodiest day in decades.
Over 100,000 have fled the south of the country, fearing a potential Israeli ground invasion.
The bombing campaign was preceded by a huge terror attack, wherein Israel remotely detonated thousands of Lebanese pagers, wounding thousands of people, including women and children.
It's also stepped up its missile attacks on Syria, killing dozens.
Israel's intentions could barely be more clear.
Master of Diaspora Affairs, Jami Chilkel, called for the Shia enemy population of South Lebanon to be expelled in a buffer zone created on the border, sparking fears that the Gaza ethnic cleansing operation would be spread to Lebanon.
No doubt they would like to do that.
But to the best I can tell, they're going to continue doing what they're doing now.

And what is the message that he was sent initially and secondarily to deliver?

And to a certain extent, with regard to their own circumstances, as they have been set up by Netanyahu.
They're losing on the one flank, if you will.
They really are losing to Hamas.
They don't see any end to that other than more and more and more killing until there's no one left to kill, and Hamas is still going to be around and popping out of these caves and out of those fortifications and everything else.
And they're going to have to man it in perpetuity in order to keep any kind of security while Ben-Gabir builds settlements.
Meanwhile, they're also watching this happen in West Vancouver.
And so they're conflicted in their own leadership, and I'm sure they let some of that out to our commander.
What he said, in essence, I think was that we are going to prepare for a noncombatant evacuation operation.
I'll watch CNN and everybody else today try to deal with that.
We're sending troops to Cyprus to do it.
Of course we're sending troops, moderate number of troops and particular troops, In order to do a non-combatant evacuation operation, certainly from Beirut, and maybe from Lebanon, and maybe from Amman, and maybe from Cairo.
If you watched the Jordanian King yesterday, you know he is deeply concerned.
Let me take you back in history.
When we did the first Gulf War, and Powell was chairman and I was his assistant, when we did that war, we put together 625,000 people, Arabs, Syrians, French, you name it, we had a coalition, but Jordan did not join.
Why did they not join?
Because his predecessor, King Hussein, was a smart man, and he knew he was sitting on top of six and a half million Palestinian Arabs, and he was not about to join against Saddam Hussein and that.
H.W. Bush was a little bit miffed at first, but then he understood the situation.
Jordan held out. Well, Jordan is sitting there now on even more rescue people with very little capability to take care of and maintain their monarchy.
So they're looking at the potential for real disruption.
And Jordan, Sisi's looking at the same thing for different reasons in Egypt.
What better way to deal with that in a very forceful, forthright way than to marshal your forces and tell Israel we're going to march on you?
Sisi could say, I'm going to clean the Philadelphia border out.
You either get out of there or face my tanks.
So we're looking at the potential not only for regional war getting much bigger, we're
looking at the potential for a lot of people coming into it who would never have contemplated
coming into it because Netanyahu's created the circumstances for them to do so.

Unconfirmed reports say it targeted Tel Aviv.
Some independent journalists are claiming some projectiles hit Israel.
Israel's military claimed it intercepted a missile fired from Yemen.
Exposures were widely heard in the early night hours on Friday.
The surface-to-surface missile launched by Yemen was intercepted by an arrow interceptor outside of Israel.
We shall see.
Meanwhile, the Electronic Intifada asked, why is the EU still teaming up with Israeli tech firms?
If news headlines are a reliable gauge, relations between Israel and the EU are worse than ever.
Joseph Borrell, the EU's chief diplomat, is now a hate figure in the Tel Aviv government.

They have been made intentionally on non-critical components on in-service Navy submarines and aircraft carriers.
Hill reported to the Navy, wells on the new construction and in-service submarines and Ford-class aircraft carriers were made not following welding procedure.
According to a Tuesday member from Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Research, Development, and Acquisition, well, get this.
We have a nuclear sub sinking in port in Bouget Sound.

Reports indicate a U.S. Navy Virginia-class nuclear submarine has suffered a major malfunction at the Trident refit facility in Bangor, Washington, causing it to sink into Puget Sound.
Salvage operations in floating cranes are underway.
The incident is expected to delay the sub's refit by month, possibly years.
U.S. officials have yet to comment on whether the submarine carried nuclear fuel.
No doubt it did, but that is almost certainly a result of the faulty welding.
Meanwhile, China has covered up the loss of one of its submarines, a newest cutting-edge nuclear-powered A senior U.S. defense official said in a Wall Street Journal bombshell, China's newest highly touted and cutting-edge nuclear-powered submarine sank at a shipyard near Wuhan.
It was to be the newest sub to join China's fleet of six nuclear-powered attack subs.
The sinking Which reportedly occurred either May or early summer, in other words, some time ago, constitutes a serious setback for the People's Liberation Army, which has rapidly sought to explain its naval-powered technology.
I suggest releasing this information now is to conceal the sinking of our U.S. sub in Puget Sound.
You know, as you hear somebody lost a sub, you think, well, that must be China we're talking about.
Meanwhile, domestic politics, turns out Mike Johnson and Hakeem Jeffries on opposite sides of the aisle made a private agreement not to disparage one another.
