Get ready for an outstanding entertainment program.
The Jimmy Dore Show.
Hi, this is Jimmy.
Who's this?
Hi, Jimmy.
This is David Axelrod.
How are you?
Well, I'm fine, Mr. Axelrod.
How are you?
I'm very well.
Thank you for asking.
To what do I owe this privilege?
Well, I was wondering if I could use your online platform, you know, access to your fans to promote this project that we have going on right now.
You mean the thing with Karl Rove?
Exactly the thing with Karl Rove.
Got it.
Ha ha ha ha.
laughter What is that again?
Well, this may be indicative of that old adage that politics makes strange bedfellows.
And I suppose that is true to us.
I suppose that is true to a certain extent.
But Carl and I really do have a lot in common.
So we decided to join forces, as it were, and teach this masterclass in politics for the master class series.
And we have been traveling around together doing speaking engagements and really cleaning up money-wise, I have to say.
I see.
I see.
It would seem that the guy who got Bush elected and the guy who got Obama elected wouldn't have a whole lot in common.
You would think that, yes, but the truth is that we do, actually.
You know, in 2008, we tried to run a very positive campaign with a very positive message, and that really resonated with younger voters and galvanized them into sort of a movement.
When Carl Rove ran the Bush campaigns, he ran on a lot of fear and marginalizing LGBT people and resentment.
And then older people came out in droves for Bush.
And my point is those two strategies are really two sides of the same coin.
Wow, that is incredibly cynical.
What?
I mean, they were both winning strategies.
You don't have to agree with someone's political philosophy to respect their game, as it were, when it comes to what it takes to win an election in this crazy world of politics.
Okay.
I mean, both of us took advantage of our respective sides in a way.
On our side, the Obama side, our advantage was that young people, first-time voters, don't know that a politician that they like is lying to them.
Once people are a little longer than tooth, they know the candidates who are running for president will make promises that they can't or won't keep.
But young people thought that Obama meant it when he said he was going to end all these wars, which of course was not tethered to any kind of policy initiative or strategy that the Obama administration actually had.
Right.
But the Republican advantage on the other side is similar to that.
Old people are really gullible.
And the Republicans have all the old people.
And they can be lied to and duped just like young, naive liberal voters.
So the trick is figuring out how to weaponize the stupidity of your own base against your political opponent.
So that's what this is?
Just two political hacks talking about how to lie to people?
Well, I mean, if that's the spin you want to put on it, fine, but that's not how we're thinking about this experience.
We're talking with David Axelrod, former Obama advisor.
David, so who is coming to these talks and taking the master class?
Do you have any idea the types of people who are seeking your guidance?
Well, you know, Jimmy, it turns out there's a lot of far-right and alt-right type people.
Really?
Yes, because they have a very specific challenge, which is to try and make their political positions, be it white supremacy, whatever it is, to try and make them mainstream, mainline them, as we say.
And it's a particularly challenging thing that a politician has to do.
And honestly, it's a very fascinating case study from a political science perspective.
And I like challenges.
So you're helping Nazis.
I mean, if you want to put that kind of spin on it, that's fine.
But just know that that's not how Carl and I look at it.
All we're doing is sharing our expertise with people who want to understand politics better, whether or not they want to use politics to affect a white ethno-state in the Pacific Northwest.
That's not my concern or problem.
But Nazis?
We get nowhere as a country unless we're civil with each other.
We must maintain civility.
Okay, thanks for calling, David Axelrod.
okay, I'm going to go count my money.
It's the Jimmy Dore Show.
The show for gut-minded, lovely-lovered lefties.
The kind of people that are Commence maybe on tearing down our nation.
It's the show that makes Anderson Cooper save.
It's hard to talk in your TV.
And now, here's a guy who sounds a lot like me.
It's Jimmy Dore.
It's Jimmy Dore.
Hey, everybody, welcome to this week's Jimmy Dore show.
Don't forget our next live Jimmy Dore show, February 1st in Burbank, California.
That's a Friday night, February 1st in Burbank, California.
Go to JimmyDoreComedy.com for a link for tickets.
Our next live show, February 1st in Burbank, California.
Let's get to the jokes before we get to the jokes, shall we?
Hey, the midterms and Veterans Day came and went again.
Just like any real chance of stopping perpetual war.
Somewhere in an alternative universe, this week had Veterans Day, and the country was celebrating the abolition of war.
And the only reason George W. Bush was in the news was because he was just handed his prison sentence.
Yes.
Hey, did you hear Stan Lee died?
Stan Lee, who's Stan Lee, Ron?
He was a creator of Marvel, co-creator, excuse me, of Marvel Comics.
Co-creator of Marvel Comics, Dyed Stanley.
It's nice to see Jeff Bezos paying homage to him by imitating his villains.
Hey, Michigan's Democratic governor-elect just appointed a Blue Cross executive to hers transition team.
Lucky for her, Blue Cross will cover her dying career.
I love the way our news headlines reflect our values.
Headline, Miley Cyrus loses home to California fires.
Not a headline.
Earth has 10 years to stop global warming.
The Democrats, you know, the Democrats belong to the only party that needs post-mortems on their wins.
If I had a time machine, I wouldn't kill baby Hitler, but I would go back in time and kill his dad's boner.
Hey, by the way, did you hear Jeff Sessions finally resigned as Attorney General?
He said he needed to spend more time with his family in the antebellum South.
Bam.
Hey, what's coming up on today's show?
Ocasio-Cortez protests inside Nancy Pelosi's office.
Is it true?
The answer just may surprise you, or will it?
Plus, Bob Woodward, that's right, that Bob Woodward admits he has found zero evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russians, and he's looked hard.
Plus, the host of reliable sources, Brian Stelter, crazily claims that CNN doesn't care about ratings, and Ted Koppel and the entire panel laughs in his face.
Plus, we got phone calls today from David Axelrod, former Obama advisor, Chuck Schumer, and Jeb Bush, plus Chris Christie, and a lot lot more.
That's today of the Jimmy Door Show.
Hey, everybody, welcome to Jimmy Doer Show.
I'm here at the Miserable Liberal and Ron Placone.
Ron's going to be somewhere November 23rd.
Where are you going to be?
November 23rd, I'll be in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and then going on the road to Florida in January.
Tickets available at ronplacone.com.
So everybody's talking about Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
She did a protest at Nancy Pelosi's office.
Here she is at Nancy Pelosi's office doing a climate change protest.
I just want to let you all know how proud I am of each and every single one of you.
You're putting yourselves and your bodies and everything on the line to make sure that we save our planet, our generation, and our future.
It's so incredibly important.
I've shared with you all and I've shared my story that my journey here started at standing rock.
And it started with everyday people doing exactly what you all are doing too.
You know, one of the things that I admire so much about Liter Pelosi is that she comes from a space of activism and organizing.
And so I think that she really appreciates civic engagement.
And really what I'm here to do is just to support the folks who are here.
This is an encouragement.
Okay, so that was inside Nancy Pelosi's office.
Now, what is all this about?
So the Justice Democrats and a group called sunrisemovement.org, Ocasio-Cortez is a Justice Democrat.
And here it is.
Pelosi and Democratic Party leadership.
Democrats have the House.
Now we demand a real climate plan.
Now, even though Nancy Pelosi, from what I can tell, is better on climate change than you would think.
She actually didn't take any fossil fuel money for the last couple of years.
And she actually started the climate science panel in 2007.
I don't know if that's the correct name.
We're going to get to it.
But they want to make sure because what the Democrats seem like they really don't have an agenda on climate change coming in.
And this group wanted to make sure they did.
And so here's what they said.
They put out this press release.
Here's what it says.
We have 12 years to transform our economy and society to stop climate change.
That's according to the IPCC report that got everybody's hair on fire.
Rightly so, I think.
Democrats must put forward a plan to protect our planet, our communities, and our economy.
Nancy Pelosi and Democratic leaders in Congress have the power to create one.
But recent developments show the Democratic Party leadership has no intention of fighting for a real climate plan in the new Congress.
With the UN's recent climate report, the Democratic Party leadership's position is tantamount to climate denial.
Wow, that's pretty strong stuff.
The science is undisputed.
We have the technology and the public is overwhelmingly on the side of bold action on climate and jobs, which they are.
You know, 78% of people want their government to transition to a green economy.
Did you know that?
That's from top line polls.
That's true.
The only thing standing in the way of a livable future is the failure of political leadership.
This is what they're saying.
Add your voice to ours.
Tell Nancy Pelosi and the Democratic leadership to one, champion a green new deal that would create millions of good jobs to transform society over the next decade to stop climate change.
This means creating a committee tasked specifically to write policy on creating jobs and moving our country off fossil fuel over the designated 12 years that the IPCC has given us.
Let's protect the lives of all working people, black, brown, and white, from the ravages of disaster and pollution.
So they're calling for real concrete plans.
They're not just saying, hey, let's be against it.
Let's try to work for climate.
That's like, no, let's, when the Democrats, if they're able to take over in 2020, let's hit the ground running because we only have 10 years left at that point.
So that's what they're making sure that the solutions that the Democrats propose are proportionate to the size of the problems.
That's what they're trying to do.
And the number two thing they want is a mandate that any Democrat in leadership must take no fossil fuel money, a pledge, and reject campaign contributions from fossil fuel executives and lobbyists and prioritize the health of people and planet over industry profits.
So those are the two, I would say mandate that all Democrats take no fossil fuel money, but they just saying Democrats in leadership positions.
Why not all Democrats?
Why, if you're going to be bold and you're going to sit in someone's office, why do a half measure like that?
Anyway, that's me being nitpicky.
Oil and gas executives profit off a business model that's incompatible with the future of human civilization.
It's time for the Democratic Party to reject their influence wholesale.
Well, now, you know, the Democratic Party did pass a resolution earlier this year in 2018 that said they wouldn't take any fossil fuel money.
And then secretly, they reversed that rule, and now they can take fossil fuel money.
In 12 years, it's too late for the planet.
Democrats decided to start taking fossil fuel money.
A rising generation of young people of all backgrounds just helped flip the house with a record turnout.
We will no longer tolerate empty promises and words without action.
That's what they're saying.
We're not expecting miracles.
We understand that the GOP is corrupted by dirty oil money and will stall us at every turn.
We know that sweeping change isn't possible until Trump is gone, but we need to start laying the groundwork and put forward our vision for America now.
Good idea.
We're asking Democrats to step up to the fight alongside us.
And if they are unwilling, they should step aside and make way for new leadership that will.
So that was their proclamation.
And they went to Nancy Pelosi's office.
And then you saw, I showed you Ocasio-Cortez went there.
She joined them.
Let me get to, there's a little bit.
So we tweeted this out.
So Nancy Pelosi started the select committee on climate change in 2007.
And she said she's going to reinstate it, Nancy Pelosi.
So that's good.
So Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez says reinstating the select committee is a great decision that I fully support.
These dynamic leaders want to ensure want to ensure that the committee has a mandate to draft a Green New Deal for 100% renewable energy and no appointed members that accept funding from the fossil fuel industry.
So that's what they're asking.
Also, 100% of national power generation from renewable sources.
This is their list of things.
Number two, building a national energy efficient smart grid.
Number three, upgrading every residential and industrial building for state-of-the-art energy efficiency, comfort, and safety for decarbonizing the manufacturing, agriculture, and other industries.
It's a tall order.
Five, decarbonizing, repairing, and improving transportation and other infrastructure.
Another tall order.
Funding, but these are good.
You're supposed to do this.
You're supposed to have tall orders.
Funding massive investment in the drawdown and capture of greenhouse gases.
Making green technology, industry, expertise, products, and services a major export of the United States with the aim of becoming the undisputed international leader in helping other countries transition to completely carbon-neutral economies and bringing about a global Green New Deal.
Imagine if they actually did all that and we actually could stop climate change.
Wouldn't that be amazing?
We did it.
Wouldn't that be amazing?
Wouldn't that be amazing?
And by the way, how do you pay for it?
She says, then she shows how Congress voted overwhelmingly for this crazy military budget.
But here's the thing.
Here's the thing I think about this.
Everybody's making a big deal about Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez joining that protest inside Nancy Pelosi's office.
Look, she's sticking it to the leadership.
Because Kyle Kalinsky told me about that when we had our conversation last night over Skype.
And I was, I did one of these, really.
You know, I did one of those.
And turns out she did.
Alexandria Casio-Cortez did join it, which is great.
Again, I'm not, this is all exactly what Democrats should be doing.
That's exactly what I was hoping Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez would do when she got into office.
This is great.
This is great.
The only thing I will say is that Nancy Pelosi tweeted this out.
She said, deeply inspired by the young activists and advocates leading the way on confronting climate change.
The climate crisis threatens the futures of communities nationwide.
And I strongly support reinstating the select committee to address the crisis.
So they wanted her to go.
So by the way, and then Alexandria Ocasio says, thank you, Nancy Pelosi.
We have 10 years left to plan and implement a Green New Deal before Catis cataclysmic climate disaster.
Reinstating the select committee is exactly what we need to do.
So to me, I'll throw it over to my panel.
To me, it looks like this is good.
This is great that Alexandria is doing this, that the Justice Democrats are doing that, that sunrise.org is doing this.
I'm glad this is all happening, and we need more of this.
It seems like Pelosi was cool with it, even though they did end up arresting people at this.
But a lot of times you show up because you want to get arrested, right?
So people did get arrested at this, from what I read.
But it seems like this wasn't really her bucking the leadership of Nancy Pelosi.
Am I being nitpick?
What are you thinking?
It might be nitpicky to the panel.
I'll take the optimistic road and I'll say I think AOC put her in a corner and I think it was right on.
I mean, first of all, everyone was saying this like that was her orientation and she attended a protest.
I think not only should protest attendance be part of a congressional orientation, I think it should be mandatory.
I think that's the best way to spend an orientation a congressperson has ever spent one.
So I applaud her for that.
And I think, yeah, you show up with all these people that are concerned about the climate, which affects everybody, regardless of which your political leanings are.
And she backed her in the corner.
How do you not want to do something about this?
So I think it was a good move politically.
She had the people behind her, and I hope it's the start of a better trend.
You know, again, like I said, Nancy Pelosi seems to be of like minds of people who are environmentalists, except she hasn't, what they want her to actually have a bold plan.
And so that's what's happening.
And they are forcing her hand to have a bold plan.
I think I'll go with your, I'll go with your reading of the situation.
And this is good.
And that Nancy Pelosi can't flip off Ocasio.
She can't go, wow, those meddling kids, right?
She has to be on board.
And so that is, that's good.
This is good.
I mean, I can't imagine a better program right now than a Green New Deal to be implemented.
And also, can you imagine what kind of jobs program that this would be at the same time?
How is everybody in the Democratic Party not cheering on this?
Right?
Because they have donors.
But it's funny.
They go a little farther, actually.
I was reading in Vox.
There's more to this resolution than just what I've told you already.
Also, the resolution is equally ambitious on the subject of equity.
It says that the Green New Deal is, quote, is a historic opportunity to virtually eliminate Poverty.
Wow.
Talk about thinking big, that this Green New Deal is a historic opportunity to virtually eliminate poverty in the United States and to make prosperity, wealth, and economic security available to everyone participating in the transformation.
That's something to vote for.
I needed to know a little bit more.
That's her.
Well, there is a little bit more.
To that end, it instructs the committee to develop a plan that would include a job guarantee, measures to combat income inequality and racial injustice, and maybe a universal basic income for good measure.
Wow.
This is about as about much more than carbon.
It doesn't separate out the climate problem from society's other ills, as climate wonks have so often advocated.
It sees environmental, economic, and social problems as intertwined with a common set of solutions.
It's a full-spectrum vision of sustainable social democracy, a level of progressive ambition that most U.S. citizens have likely never encountered.
You mean the left has a bold vision, not just rhetoric, not just saying hope and change, but actually having a concrete plan for change?
This is great.
Okay, isn't the reason why we got all the freeways and the highways was because FDR decided that a part of the military budget to protect the country was to build these roads, correct?
Right?
I think that was Eisenhower.
Was that Eisenhower?
Who built the interstate highway system?
I think it was Eisenhower or Truman.
So a part of the military budget went towards building those highways.
That was sold.
For protection.
It was sold.
Yes, that was sold as a defense project to move missiles around so we could fight the menace of the Reds, right, of Russia.
So that was an easier sell.
So it was definitely sold that way.
Whether that money came right out of the defense budget, I'm not sure.
Maybe it did.
I think also my point is ultimately, anything that we do to improve our country improves the wellness of the people.
So I like seeing that they're saying that this is connected to societal problems as well that could be, you know, improved upon.
I agree with you.
It gives me hope, but I have to say right now, you know, I still don't have universal health care.
I still don't, you know, I don't have Medicare for all.
How long will it take something like this when we're up against a really catastrophic problem?
Look what it takes.
So like I said, eight out of 10 or 9 out of 10 Democrats, if you round up, nine out of 10 Democrats want Medicare for all.
Yes.
And a majority of Republicans want Medicare for all, yet we still can't even get our Democratic leaders to say it.
We can't get Chuck Schumer and Nancy Pelosi to say it, even though everyone's for it in the country.
So here's another deal where everyone's for it.
And the 78% of people, according to a top-line poll, are for the government shifting us to a green economy.
So maybe trips to Nancy Pelosi's office needs to be a weekly thing.
Every week, show up.
We'll be right back.
These are people right behind you.
These are the people I'm answering to because this is my gig now and I'm here and I ain't going anywhere.
So how about Medicare for all, Nancy?
What do you say?
Well, put her in a corner again.
I also think Barbara Lee will be on board for this.
And that's the person that we're really rooting for as Barbara Lee.
Yes, we are.
Yeah, we're hoping for Barbara Lee to become the leader of the House.
So we'll see.
We'll see if she can, you know, it's, you know, the Republicans get to vote in that election too, right?
So if the Democrats are split, you're going to need Republican votes to put you over.
It's going to be interesting to see who becomes.
I hope it's interesting.
I hope it's interesting.
Well, you know what, Jimmy?
You had a conversation with Kyle, and one thing that I took away a couple things, but the one thing that I loved was that he said, if you care, call your representative up and let them know you want Barbara Lee.
Right.
And if they don't support Barbara Lee, that you will not be supporting them.
Yes.
Yeah, that's all you can do, I guess.
But I like that.
I like that strategy.
I like that he was saying, call them, email them.
Get after them to make sure that they recognize that we want Barbara Lee because we don't want another, you know, where Pelosi raises all this money.
Why only Ocasio showed up?
Why didn't RoConnor?
Where's all the rest of the Justice Democrats, right?
There's seven of them now, right?
Maybe they already know.
I guess they chose to do other things for their orientation.
Maybe.
I don't know.
I mean, it was orientation time.
I guess so.
But anyway, that's great.
This is the kind of stuff, you know, the Justice Democrats, our revolution, they should be doing big things like this.
Solutions that are proportionate to our problems.
Yeah.
Well, yeah, because you mentioned it's a tall order.
And it's like, yeah, it's got to be.
It's got to be.
Because we're behind schedule.
Yes.
Like, we can still do something, but we're really, really behind schedule.
Okay.
So the official line is that Ocasio-Cortez put Pelosi in a corner.
And now Pelosi's got to come out for this.
I did like how she said, you know, I'm sure Nancy Pelosi appreciates this because she has a long history of, you know, whatever.
So activist background.
It was like, yes, she was trying to court.
Ah, this is can't be against this.
So that was great.
So we're going thumbs up.
Great.
More of this.
Hey, you know, we no longer have an Amazon link because we're not doing that.

Uh-oh, it's Chucky the Schumer, Master of the Senate.
Hello.
Oh, my dear land sakes live.
I do hereby put my foot down to demand that the opposition just stop the bullying already.
It's just so uncalled for.
Excuse my harsh language, but I've just about had it up to here with these shenanigans.
What in particular are you referring to, Chuck Schumer, Master of the Senate?
Well, oh, thank you, by the way, for acknowledging my service.
You got me so flustered right now.
Look at my face.
It's beat red.
What was your question again, sir?
You were talking about shenanigans.
Oh, yes.
Jimmy, I'm going to stick my neck out there and use the I word to describe it.
The I word?
Inappropriate.
There, I said it.
Are you happy, Jimmy?
You made me get all hot and upset.
You put it in terms youngsters can understand.
I am positively beside myself.
I assume you're talking about what Trump's been saying about the Florida recounts.
Oh, gosh, no.
I'm talking about Alexander Cortez, that young tough.
Alexandria Casio-Cortez?
We have to act like grown-ups, Jimmy.
Meet incivility with civility.
Meet across the aisle to seek common good.
Basically, negotiate with fascists.
Uh-oh, can we delete that last remark?
Nope.
Sorry, it's out there forever now.
Fine, fine, fine.
No problem.
I can deal with that.
How can you bring yourself to meet right-wing GOP extremists halfway?
Well, you certainly don't do it with hoodlums and ne'er-do-wells holding violent sit-ins in Nancy Pelosi's office.
I mean, I heard that chairs were thrown.
Did you hear that?
I did.
Chairs were thrown.
I didn't hear that, Chuck.
How about somebody leaned against the office ficus?
This is outrageous.
And if I have to use the I word again, by golly, I will, mister.
Don't make me do it.
But instead of finding common ground with fascists, shouldn't you be finding common ground with progressives?
Don't make me say it, Jimmy.
I mean, all you're doing is making our government lurch further and further to the right.
A ficus needs space to breathe, Jimmy.
You can't crowd it.
Cortez was protesting in action on climate change.
Inappropriate.
They're happy.
Neither party has a real plan to fight climate change, Chuck.
That's what the sit-in was all about.
Jimmy, I am master of the Senate, and Nancy Pelosi is a master legislator of the House.
Together, we are Justice League of Congress, says so, what's your plan to cut greenhouse emissions enough to meet the 10-year deadline, Chuck?
Jimmy, though I am master of the Senate, I am also an ordinary man.
And just like you, I wake every morning and put on my skinny 19th-century glasses made from tortoise shells, suspended from a gold ribbon around my neck, and look at the world with wonder.
We all live on this big blue marble together, and we can't save it by taking rash actions to save it.
We must not destroy ourselves by saving the world.
Are you ever going to stand up for voters?
I can promise you this, Jimmy.
I pledge to go in the back room and talk to my manager about it.
He doesn't seem to think he can include clear coat in the final low sales price I quoted you.
But by golly, I'll do my cracker jack darnest.
And you can take that to the bank and deposit it, my friend.
Chairs were thrown.
Hey, so the Russia Gate investigation, all we did here at this show and a handful of other shows did the same thing, was say, hey, we're waiting for evidence that this happened because right now it looks like a massive propaganda campaign to shield the Clintons and the Clinton campaign and the Democratic Party from doing an autopsy and legit criticism on how horrible and how screwed up their party is that they could lose a Donald Trump.
And we had William Binney come on, who was the NSA top code breaker, and he said that he immediately knew they had no evidence when the NSA said they had high confidence, which means they don't have evidence.
And he said if it did happen, they would have the evidence, the NSA, because they have everything that's happening at any moment.
Every email that is being sent to anybody, anywhere, they have it.
We live in a surveillance state.
That's why they have it.
So we tried to, we showed you that.
We brought on John Keriaku, former CIA guy telling you that agent telling you that they don't have it and this is all propaganda.
And then here, we even showed you, this is from a year ago.
Former CIA director Mike Morrell inside this article, he said, I'm really open to that possibility.
Why?
Because as you know, the New York Times, the Washington Post, every media outlet that is worth its salt has reporters digging into this, the Russia Gate, and they haven't found anything.
That's former CIA director.
And I think that had there been something there, they would have found something.
And I think Bob Mueller would have found it already, and it would have leaked.
That's a year ago.
That's from 2017, October 2017.
That's the former CIA director saying that.
We reported it here.
That wasn't the headline, obviously, of that.
They buried that part.
That's not the headline was elections hacking was an intelligence failure.
That wasn't the headline.
Should have been.
So we've tried to tell you William Binney, NSA codebreaker, tried to tell you, John Kiriaku, there's former head of the CIA.
He's telling you there's going to be no evidence.
And Hearst Politico, just a few weeks ago, the Mueller report, prepare for disappointment and be forewarned that the special counsel's findings may never be made public.
So they're bracing people.
Hey, there's no there there.
So now we got Bill Binney.
We got former head of the CIA and we got Politico.
And now we got Bob Woodward.
Now we got Bob Woodward coming around to our side.
Our side, meaning the one that just asks for evidence of extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence, right?
And we maintain our skepticism because we have done some questionable things like read an article till its completion and actually look at what a graph is telling us.
Yes.
And we've been pilloried for this.
We've been pilloried for reading the articles all the way to the end.
Like I read that political article all the way to the end where the CIA director says that there ain't going to be any evidence.
If you read it all the way to the end, you'll find that out.
But if you read the headline, which is what most people do, you would never know that.
It's an odd approach, but we're all students of Mortzalmore comics.
What can we do?
What can we do?
It is unorthodox that we read the articles all the way to the end.
So here's Bob Woodward.
No evidence of Trump Russia collusion, and I've searched for two years.
This is from Real Clear Politics.
In an interview with Hugh Hewitt on Friday, Bob Hugh Hewitt is that guy who, I think he has a show at MSNBC, but he has a radio show, too.
And everybody thought he was the cat's meow.
In an interview with Hugh Hewitt on Friday, Bob Woodward said that in his two years of investigating for his new book, Fear, he found no evidence of collusion or espionage between Trump and Russia.
What?
Woodward said he looked into it hard.
It's in red.
That's how you know it's important.
He looked into it Hard and yet turned up nothing.
You want to hear him say it?
Here, let's hear it.
Want to hear him say it?
We can hear him say it.
Did you, Bob Woodward, hear anything in your research and your interviews that sounded like espionage or collusion?
I did not.
And, of course, I looked for it hard.
Huh?
What?
So Russia Gate came in like a lion and it's going out like a sheep.
It's going out like a little lamb.
Very quiet.
Came in like a lion.
Ra, we got him.
It's right in front of your eyes.
Can't you see it?
What are you, an apologist?
So I can't wait for the next person to say the same thing.
Because as we pointed out, by the way, it's printed in the book Shattered, which is the book written about the Hillary Clinton campaign, the 2016 campaign.
It's right in that book that Robbie Mook and John Podesta came up with this idea.
Robbie Mook and John Podesta.
And I showed you that Hillary Clinton's own internal polling in her campaign of 2015 said that Hillary Clinton's biggest vulnerability was that people wouldn't vote for her when they found out she sold that uranium.
She signed off on selling the uranium to Russia.
Uranium won that whole thing.
So that was her own internal polling showed that she, her biggest vulnerability, was her connection to Russia.
What does Machiavelli teach us?
You take your business vulnerability, you throw it on your opponent.
And that's exactly what they did.
So, again, it's all out there if you want to find that the truth is out there.
It's written and shattered.
It's in WikiLeaks documents that I've showed on this show.
I've seen nowhere else.
The Wikileaks document that showed her biggest vulnerability was her ties to Russia.
Hillary's biggest vulnerability was her ties to Russia.
I've never seen that document anywhere else.
Have you seen that document?
Nowhere except our show.
So it's all out there.
They just don't hype it.
What do they hype?
Oh, my God, we got him this time.
We got him.
Oh, that's right.
We're going to have to fire a few people for getting that story wrong.
And that's the story of Russia Gate.
And that's how you live through a red scare.
Now you know what propaganda looks like.
And it was really easy to do because everybody hated Donald Trump.
He was very unlikable to the establishment, to the news media.
Half the country seems to love him.
But not the news media, not the establishment.
So it was really easy to do.
So it was, what are you going to do?
Stick up for Trump that he's not Russian?
I'll play this for you again.
This is Bob Woodward.
Did you, Bob Woodward, hear anything in your research and your interviews that sounded like espionage or collusion?
I did not.
And, of course, I looked for it, looked for it hard.
I don't even know what to say.
In a normal world, we would be getting a lot of accolades and apologies at this show.
We will get none of those things.
We will get none of those things.
So this conspiracy theory that's been spun by the establishment news, by internet news, non-establishment news, lefty press is a big conspiracy theory, which is fact, no evidence.
For two years, they talked about it non-stop.
Imagine if they talked about Medicare for all for two years.
You think they would have did a little better in the midterms?
I think so.
This is stunning, no?
Bob Woodward is saying this now.
By the way, it's barely getting any press.
And where is he saying it?
He's saying it on Hugh Hewitt's fucking show.
Shouldn't this be the headline on Rachel Maddow's show tonight?
Because here's how the conspiracy theorists over at MSNBC have been reporting this for two years, and I bet they're going to be a little embarrassed now, right?
And here's the question: Is the new president going to take those troops out in Russia?
Russian Russia.
Russia, Russian Russia.
Russia.
Of whether or not Russia had help, whether they had Confederates inside the Trump campaign when they launched this attack.
But every day and every day, I lead my show, and I think I'm going to be talking about something else.
But every day, over the course of the news cycle.
Every day, I just decide to keep fucking talking about the same thing over and over and over and over again with zero evidence.
But I spin wild conspiracy theories, but nobody ever calls me a conspiracy theorist because I'm on MSNBC.
And it's about Trump.
A new piece of it falls in place.
We're about to find out if the new president of our country is going to do what Russia wants.
If the presidency is effectively a Russian op, right?
If the American presidency right now is the product of collusion between the Russian intelligence services and an American campaign, I mean, that is so profoundly big.
This is not part of American politics.
This is not, you know, partisan warfare between Republicans and Democrats.
This is international warfare against our country.
That was from the intercept.
A C-student jagoff nightclub comedian in his garage somehow got this, got to this two years before Bob Woodward did.
And that guy's got nothing but access.
But for two years, it was also, you know, it also sold papers if you spun that he was, you had collusion and you had evidence, right?
But now we'll sell it the other way.
God damn it.
And you wonder why people don't trust the press?
And this whole, right now, what's happening right now is everyone's pretending that CNN is only disliked by Trump and the right wing.
CNN is disliked by the left, the actual left, not the fucking corporatist bullshit Democrat left.
I'm talking about actual lefts.
I'm talking about when Bernie Sanders rallies, people were chanting, CNN sucks.
That's real progressives.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Come on, pick up.
Pick it up.
Hello.
Wayne went to Wales to watch Walruses.
Hello.
Yeah, that's right.
You heard me.
Brenda Snipes should resign her office.
That's what Governor Jeff Bush just said.
Oh, and that's me.
It's me, Jeff.
I was going to be president once.
Remember?
Inner voice, stop with the regrets.
Like Scooby-Doo says, regrets are for Roosers.
Brenda Snipes, The Broward County Supervisor of Elections.
Uh-huh.
That Brenda Snipes.
Hey, bet you can't do this.
Say, I was born on a pirate ship.
Only hold your tongue when you say it.
Can't do it, can you?
It's so funny.
But why?
Because, silly, when you hold your tongue, it's hard to say your consonants.
No cheating.
No, why do you want Brenda Snipes to resign from office?
Oh, because my brother got some dumb Liberty medal, and it's not fair.
Not fair.
He invaded a country because he's dad's favorite.
I didn't do that.
Yet he gets a Liberty medal.
Give me a ginormous break, will you?
God, am I ever so filled with cuss words right now?
But you appointed her.
Huh?
You appointed her.
Oh, no, that can't be.
I did no such thing.
You must be mistaken.
How can a clam cram in a clean cram can answer me that, smarty pants, face, captain doesn't know stuff.
But you did.
You did appoint Brenda Snipes back in 2003.
Oh, come on.
That was in the last century.
I don't remember it happening.
And I'm talking about the century, so it's all inclusive.
You appointed her supervisor of Broward County's elections office in 2003.
Impossible.
That's almost as dumb as saying my dumb brother got a dumb medal for his dumb work for veterans.
Dumb.
But he just did.
I know, right?
Oh, come on, universe.
What's the deal deal here anyway?
If mom were here, she'd really give everybody a what-for.
Thank God she isn't.
Hey, have you ever gone on lostmoney.com?
I got 10 bucks back from an old checking account mom set up for me in college.
Unpaid interest.
Help me.
I don't know what to do with my life.
Roberta ran rings around the Roman ruins.
Gobbling gargoyles, gobbled gobbling goblins.
Hey, good news on the Keystone pipeline.
You remember Barack Obama wavered on it and then he came down against it, which was good.
And then Trump reopened a Keystone pipeline.
And let's remember what the Keystone Pipeline is.
It's oil coming from another country, traveling across our co-country to get on tankers to go to other countries.
It's not for our country.
It's not our oil, and we don't get it.
Okay, so this is oil coming from Canada, A, going to China and the rest of the world.
Okay.
So the judge blocked the Keystone XL pipeline in a blow to Trump.
Isn't that nice?
Huh?
It also saves water supplies, which is even nicer.
That's a blow to Trump part.
But yeah.
Yeah.
A U.S. judge in Montana has blocked construction of the Keystone XL pipeline designed to carry heavy crude oil.
It's the dirtiest of all oil, right?
It's from the tar sands.
Drawing praise on Friday from environmental groups and a rebuke from President Donald Trump.
The ruling of the U.S. court in Montana late on Thursday dealt a setback to TransCanada Corp, whose stock fell 1.7% in Toronto.
Shares of the companies that would ship oil on the pipeline also slid.
TransCanada A said in a statement, it remains committed to building the $8 billion 1,180-mile pipeline, but it has also said it is seeking partners and has not taken a final investment decision.
The ruling drew an angry response from Trump, who approved the pipeline shortly after taking office.
It also piles pressure on Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to assist the country's ailing oil sector by accelerating crude shipments by rail until pipelines are built.
So right now they ship that stuff by rail, which is even more dangerous.
Hey, how about we just stop trying to get the dirtiest oil in the world?
How about we take all that, build those billions, and we put it into wind and solar?
Yep.
How about that?
Clogged pipelines have made discounts on Canadian oil even steeper than they were earlier this year when Scotiabank warned that they may cost the country's economy $16 billion.
Now, that's $16 billion Canadian, right?
Okay.
U.S. District Court Judge Brian Morris wrote that a U.S. State Department environmental analyst analysis of Keystone XL fell short of a hard look at the cumulative effects of greenhouse gas emissions and the impact on Native American land resources.
Really?
Who appointed Brian Morris?
Frickin' Ralph Nader?
Who appointed really Brian Morris, Judge Brian Morris?
Who cares about environmental impact?
Where'd they find this guy?
What he's doing his job or something.
No kidding, right?
The pipeline would carry heavy crude from Alberta to Steel City, Nebraska, where it would connect to refineries in the U.S., Midwest, and Gulf Coast, as well as Gulf export terminals.
So we'll see how long that, you know, we don't live in a real, there's no democracy.
There's no real court system.
Whatever the oligarchs want, they get.
They want war, they get it.
They manufacture consent.
And the press manufactures consent through the rest of the population.
Oh, we got to bomb Saddam.
He's a bad.
He's got rape rooms.
We need to replace him with our rape rooms.
Oh, we got to go to Afghanistan and stay there for two decades.
Hey, we got to go, Bob Lassad.
He's a bad.
He's a butcher.
He's guessing people.
We got to go get a Qaddafi.
He's also a bad person.
That's how you manufacture consent.
People say that stuff.
Oh, Assad's bad, though.
Like, people know anything they're talking about.
Anyway, so here we go.
We'll see what happens because we do not live in a democracy.
Our courts don't mean anything.
And the oligarchs get to do whatever they want.
So if they want a pipeline, they're getting the goddamn pipe.
They want it.
Well, I think that's why you're not hearing a ton of reports about this.
This is big news because the real headline, which was a couple paragraphs down, is that any environmental analysis will tell you we didn't do the proper homework on this and we shouldn't be doing it.
And that's not just the case with Keystone XL.
That's the case for pretty much any pipeline.
And if you take a second to actually review the science, you're like, yeah, we shouldn't be doing this.
But how much money can we make?
Exactly.
How much can we make, though?
Us?
Nothing.
Oh, nothing for us?
Nothing for us.
Okay, so a little bit of good news.
But again, believe me, the only thing that's going to stop things from going forward, it's not going to be electoral politics.
It's going to be direct action and people getting in the street.
And that's what's going to have to happen.
Because if you're looking for the Democrats to save us from climate change, look again.
If you're looking for the Democrats to save us from the predatory capitalists who are giving us our health care, think again.
If you think the Democrats are going to save us from eternal war and imperialism, think again.
They're not.
So to do this stuff, we're going to have to get it ourself.
Nancy Pelosi is not bringing you Medicare for all.
Okay, we're getting off topic.
The Daily Beast, Bernie did an interview with the Daily Beast.
Now, I don't know if you know about the Daily Beast, but they trash Bernie on the regular.
Yet he also does an interview with them.
I don't know what he expected.
And then they totally gave a totally effed up headline to Bernie.
Exclusive, Bernie Sanders says race contributed to why candidates Andrew Gillum and Stacey Abrams lost.
Whites uncomfortable voting for black candidates.
They go on a little bit more.
Here's another one.
I think you know that they quote Bernie and they quote him out of context.
I think you know there are a lot of white folks out there who are not necessarily racist who felt uncomfortable for the first time in their lives about whether or not they wanted to vote for an African American, Sanders told Daily Beast.
So immediately, so his press secretary, Josh, tweets this out and says, what Bernie Sanders actually said was that DeSantis, Kemp, and Trump ran explicitly racist campaigns.
Quote, Gillum ran a great campaign and he had to take some of the most ugly and blatant racism that we've ever seen in many, many years.
So you tell me, that headline that they gave to Bernie, that headline they gave to Bernie, these are horrible headlines.
Shockingly so.
Yes.
Totally out of character for the Daily Beast.
So here, so Walter Bragman says, clickbank nonsense.
Guys, you should issue a correction, though I know from experience contacting you about errors in some of Joy Reed's pieces that you probably won't.
Shameful.
This is clickbest.
That's the definition of clickbait nonsense.
If you thought Bernie was a racist, hey, Bernie's siding with racists.
He's not calling them.
I'm going to play.
This is the actual recording from the actual interview, the pertinent part.
So let's listen to what Bernie says.
Numbers, specifically in places like Georgia and Florida, where it's quite difficult, and you had few candidates who were first time potential African-American.
How difficult is it to be in that position when you have a midterm campaign led from the administration that is so heavily race-oriented?
And, you know, don't use the phrase race-oriented.
Like, why don't we say racist stuff?
So, first of all, Bernie coming out of the gate, straight shooting.
Let's not say race central.
Let's say racist.
Did you hear him say that?
Let's back it up.
Why do we use the right word?
Don't use the phrase race-oriented.
Like, why don't we say racist stuff?
So, there's the Daily Beast guy saying what Trump was doing was race-orientated.
And Bernie corrects him.
He says, I would just use the correct word, racist.
Right.
How is that?
Is that what ended up with these margins?
I think so.
I think that, you know, I was involved in it and all of it.
So then they asked him, do you think that's how these margins happen, these margins of victory for these right-wingers?
He said, yes, I think so.
He was a brilliant campaign.
I think he was a fantastic politician in the best sense of the word.
He generated enormous amount of energy.
He got young people involved in the process.
He stuck to his guns in terms of a progressive agenda.
I think he ran a great campaign.
And he had to take on some of the most blatant and ugly racism that we have seen in many, many years.
And yet he came within a whisker of winning.
And I think, you know, there are a lot of white folks out there, not necessarily racist, who felt uncomfortable for the first time in their lives about, you know, whether or not they wanted to vote for an African-American.
I think next time we're out, by the way, it will be a lot easier for them to do that.
But I think Gillum's campaign, and you know, let's, I think I mentioned this, while losing, Gillum lost, but he also helped to pass.
And his campaign did it.
The ballot item, which will bring back felons right to vote for it, a million and a half people, which is going to change the nature of politics into the future of laws.
That's what he managed to accomplish.
Stacey Abrams, I think, also ran an extraordinarily good campaign.
And we don't know what the final results are.
We hope that in Georgia they will respect democracy and count all of the votes.
And we'll see what happens.
But she ran.
And their headline was, hey, Bernie's racist.
I don't know if you know.
Bernie Sanders' campaign had to put this out, or Bernie Sanders' press secretary had to put this out.
He put out the whole, well, I just played you.
And here's David Corden.
David Cord, is there a bigger disappointment in lefty media than David Corn?
Wow.
He goes, geez.
So this is him doing the establishment.
This is a hit job.
So this is a hit job by the Daily Beast, and David Corn jumps right in on it.
Geez, Bernie Sanders.
Is this quote accurate?
How is it not racist to not vote for an African-American because you are comfortable voting for an African-American?
Yeah, he's racist.
Did you hear what he said?
Maybe, David, you'd be more happy if he referred to them as deplorables and then lost to Trump again.
Is that what you would like?
So, again, but it's, and it's, you know, I don't know what they expected from the Daily Beast when they went there.
You're not going to get a fair shake.
You know who sits on that board?
Tell him.
Chelsea Clinton.
Yeah.
On the board of the Daily Beast is Chelsea Clinton.
Anyway, so that's nice.
Well, do you see why now something like WikiLeaks needs to exist?
Yep.
Because of stuff like this, where you need a website showing original documents, showing untainted content because of situations like this.
This is amazing.
So this totally misframes what he was saying.
I think.
Oh, absolutely.
Yes.
Totally misframes what he was saying.
We just had that.
It happens to us all the time here at this show.
So we could be pretty sympathetic to Bernie when this happens because people misframe what we say for some reason.
People love to do it.
Just happened the other day.
Somebody was saying we were telling people that we don't care if Republicans win.
Just amazing.
But we're very powerful.
Yes.
We're very powerful.
You'd think they'd be nicer to us.
You'd think people would be nicer to us.
We had that kind of power.
I'm saying, if you think Susan Sarandon has that much control of the electorate, maybe you'd suck up to her.
But you don't think that, which is why you continue to shit on her.
Because you scapegoat.
You like to scapegoat people.
Instead of the people in power, you like to scapegoat people with no power.
Like people like me, a Jagoff nightclub comedian in his garage.
You know the key to those elections in Florida YouTube channels.
Just so you know.
But, you know, what are you going to do?
I guess Bernie does love the establishment media.
Well, this isn't the first time something like that happened to him.
It happens all the time.
How about the Washington Post?
16 negative stories in 16 hours.
Remember that?
So this is good.
We're getting already there.
So the midterms are over.
It's starting.
So this is the establishment.
They're starting to smear Bernie.
And so it'll be either this kind of coverage or it'll be media blackout.
There's one or the other.
It's either going to be negative coverage like this or nothing.
Just like Ed Schultz said that the Clinton campaign was tied to the hip to Andy Lack, the head of NBC News, and they forbade anybody from covering Bernie Sanders' campaign.
Ed Schultz broke that rule.
They fired him.
Phil Donahue fired for telling the truth about war.
Ed Schultz fired for covering Bernie Sanders.
Guess who didn't get fired?
Everyone's still there.
Interesting, right?
Interesting.
They played ball enough that they didn't get fired, but Ed Schultz got fired.
Interesting.
I find that interesting.
Chris Christie's on the phone again.
Whoa, where do you think you're going, Jimmy Door?
Oh, how'd you know I was going anywhere?
I got instincts.
I got tuitions.
I heard things.
And thanks to Blackwater, there's cameras in every street lamp on your block.
That kind of helps me with my instincts and tuitions a little bit there, too, right?
High five.
You mean to tell me there's surveillance cameras and street lamps now?
Not all of them yet.
Just yours.
Matter of fact, I want you get up every morning to walk the dog.
You can't just bend down and use a poop bag with some else.
Hey, you know, there's a lot more to that phone call, but we don't have time in today's podcast.
How do you hear the entire phone call?
