Pastors Discuss Church's Role 00:12:42
Welcome to the Jim Baker Family Show.
Today, our special guests are Pastor Carl Gallops and Pastor Theron Ventura.
Our co-host today is Reverend Mondo De La Vega.
And now, here is your host, Pastor Ricky Baker.
Hello, friends.
You're watching PTL TV.
It's exciting you have tuned in with us today.
We have an exciting guest, someone that you know and you love, Pastor Carl Gallup.
Pastor Theron, I want to say thank you for being all of us as well.
Pastor Theron's been an incredible man of God.
You've worked here for many, many years, but also you've served as a pastor of multiple churches, different campuses, all the different places we've had here.
So say thank you for being faithful.
It's kind of nice to have people who ride with you through the good and the bad, you know?
Faithfulness is the key to everything.
Amen.
That's what the Lord told us.
You're looking for those who are faithful.
It's not attendance tracker.
It's not, you know, who shows up at this or that.
It's faithfulness.
It's a whole different, whole different meeting.
Pastor Carl Gallops, you pastor a church and you pastored the same church for, I think you said 125 years.
125.
Actually, no, I've been there for 39 years.
I'm getting ready to enter into my 40th year in that church.
Now, I want to clarify that for people.
That's the same church, the same congregation.
You've seen grand, you know, you've seen children turn into parents.
You've seen parents turn into grandparents.
So you've been there for 40 years now.
Oh, yeah.
Listen, when I came here, I went to the hospitals and was there when babies were born.
They're now 39 years old.
And some of the, many of those, I did their weddings as they grew up.
And then I was there when their babies were born.
And I have since married several of their babies to other babies.
So anyway, several generations.
Yes.
You know, it's incredible to see that's faithfulness right there, you know, because probably there's maybe not his church, but I know a lot of churches, there'd be easier days where you say, maybe I'll just stick to just writing books instead of pastor.
Maybe I'll stick to just the radio podcast and the television instead of, you know, some people, yeah, they do.
They say, okay, I'm going to pass it on to that guy, let him deal with it.
But 40 years, one place that's faithfulness, friends, wherever the Lord has set you and said, this is your place, remain faithful to it.
That doesn't mean everything's going to be fine and dandy all the time.
Everything's going to be perfect like Pastor Carl Gallup's churches.
You might have some churches like, you know, the Missouri, the Blue Eye area, you know.
But I'll say right now, just stay faithful to wherever the Lord has placed you.
It's important, friends, that we get to be a part of a body and we serve that body, whatever capacity you're able to do it.
Some people say, well, I can't show up and be a part of a greeting team or the ushers or I can't do this or that, but you can serve in other capacities.
Find someone in your church to bring under your wings and disciple.
I think it's an important part of the factor is being a part of the physical body of Christ.
The television is great.
The media is wonderful.
We need to go out into all the world and preach the gospel.
But friends, don't abandon your local church.
I think that's critical, especially nowadays.
Yeah, absolutely, Pastor.
And I think as we've been through the whole trials and tribulations here at PTL over the years, that our partners are literally the most faithful partners on earth.
And when I say that, that's because we've went through downsizes.
We've went through station.
You've had to make some hard choices to cut stations and to reduce our overhead.
And through it, you watching are the literal Philadelphia church that the Bible talks about.
And I was thinking about it when you brought it up the other day.
What is faithfulness?
Well, faithfulness is the Philadelphia church.
And I believe that folks like Pastor Carl and all of the guests and the programmers that broadcast here are that.
And I have a scripture today about it.
And this is the words of Jesus in Revelation where he says, write to the angel of the church in Philadelphia.
This is what the one who is holy and true and who holds the key of David says.
When he opens a door, no one can close it.
And when he closes it, no one can open it.
I know what you do.
I have put an open door before you, which no one can close.
And I know you have little strength, but you have obeyed my teaching and were not afraid to speak my name.
And that one word in there, though you are of little strength, that's a military number.
So it's not talking about being weak.
No, it has to do with numbers, where we may be the smallest little narrow path people in the midst of a broad path world, but we've stayed on course and we've kept, and we were not afraid to speak Jesus' name.
That's right.
This network is uncensored.
You've got a pile of people and programmers and folks like Pastor Carl and every other guest that comes on this program to say, Jesus is Lord.
We will always hold the Bible up.
That's right.
And that's why we are staying faithful.
And I believe with all my heart, that's why Jesus will keep the door open because of our faithful partners that have rode on this wagon the whole way doing the exact same thing.
Amen.
Pastor, in this time that we're living in right now, you know, you're in Florida.
It's a relatively conservative state.
Obviously, every state has pockets of, you know, non-conservatism, but you're in a relatively conservative state.
How important is it that we continue to go out and support the work of the gospel being preached around the world until Jesus returns?
Yeah.
Well, the Lord Jesus himself said, occupy until I come.
Of course, he told that in the form of a parable, but of course, the meaning is that we have to be faithful about the work.
And listen, one of my themes that I have preached for 39 years, I've got several major themes that I seem to keep weaving into my preaching and teaching, but one of them is be faithful where you are.
Be faithful not only where you are, but in the time you're living in.
The Word of God says that.
Always be prepared, in season and out of season, but always be prepared to share the word of the truth.
So, you know, Theron just read from the Philadelphia church and Revelation chapter 3, a very favorite passage of mine.
It's kind of a theme of our church as well, because we're not ashamed of Jesus Christ.
We're not ashamed of his word.
We're not ashamed to speak the truth.
And the Lord is honoring and blessing.
Now, we live in very prophetic times.
I've said this on this show right here, many, many times.
We're living in the most prophetic day since the first coming of Jesus Christ.
And the Bible tells us that there will be a great falling away in the last days.
Doctrines of demons will infest the church and denominations.
Boy, look at that.
We have whole denominations that have gone down the spiritual toilet because of compromising with worldviews and wokeness and all of this.
And so we're watching all of that happen.
And so it disheartens people.
And this is one of Satan's tricks.
And it disheartens even those that are of the family of God.
So I'm just saying to the, you know, to the patrons and listeners of the Jim Baker show, for example, I mean, this show has been around for a long time.
It has impacted so many lives.
It has saved marriages, saved people's souls.
God does all of this, but I mean, through this ministry, the preaching and teaching and the ministry of it, and turned people's lives around.
People have come out of addictions, et cetera, et cetera, from this ministry.
And I know this ministry has impacted my church and the church I minister in.
It's impacted my personal ministry all over the globe.
So it's, listen, everything that's happening is happening in tune with exactly what the word of God said would happen.
And so at the same time of this great falling away and of the doctrines of demons and the apostasy that will come among the denominations, the churches, among those that call themselves God's people, at the same time, there will also be an outpouring of the Holy Spirit and people will be saved and more will come into the fold of believing in Jesus Christ.
We see this happening all over the world.
See, we tend to measure everything by what happens in the United States, those of us that live here.
But the word of God is not written specifically for the United States.
It's written for the whole globe.
And so I think it's just the prophetic times that we're in, and we have to buckle up and buck up and be faithful where we are.
And the bottom line is if folks want this program and this kind of programming and the freedom we have to speak of the things that I've already spoke about that I can't even say on many other Christian programs, if we want to continue with this, then we've got to support those that bring it to us.
And that's the Jim Baker show and the Jim Baker family.
And so anyway, that's a long answer to your short question.
But I'm a preacher.
I'm a preacher.
Amen.
Does the Bible prepare us?
Because I know we see a lot of people saying, well, I feel like the American church specifically is being persecuted in word.
They have to censor down the message to be able to have the platform or do this.
Does the Bible prepare us for a time when it would be costly to speak the truth?
I can remember saying to my church on multiple occasions then and right up until the days we're in now.
The further down the road we go, the closer we get to the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ, the second coming, it's going to be harder and harder for the church to be the real church.
And what I mean by that is, I mean, I tell people all the time at our church, the church I pastor, Hickrahamic Church, we strive to be a real church.
Now, what does that mean?
I'm not saying we're perfect.
I'm not saying there's a bunch of rules and regulations we follow, one, two, three, four, five.
But there are fundamentals, you know, to the doctrine.
I mean, how are we saved?
Who saves us?
How does that happen?
What is a marriage?
What is a gender?
What is, I mean, all of these different things that are fundamental to the word of God.
And so the Bible prepares us for the fact that this is going to get more and more difficult.
Truth will be thrown to the ground.
Deception will rule over the world.
We now live in the internet age, and there are a lot of great, wonderful things from the internet and AI, but there are also horrific things that are on the internet and that come from AI.
For example, well, we're living.
The church is now in the midst of that.
We've just been through the whole COVID global COVID crisis.
Churches shut down all over the world.
Pastors and congregations went fleeing to the hills and masking up and crazy talking about we're all going to die.
Well, that really took a blow on the church all over the world.
And we're not dealing with this so much in our church because we never closed.
But I'm talking to so many pastors and churches that have really not recovered since then.
So, yeah, and again, I'm giving a long answer, but there's so many factors involved in the question you ask.
Yes, the Bible tells us about these things and it prepares us about these things to be in season.
I mean, excuse me, to be in the word and speaking the word correctly in season and out of season and to study, to show ourselves approved so that we can rightly handle the word of God.
So much of God's word, in my opinion, and I get this from a lot of people.
I do a lot of media.
I do a lot of traveling and people come up to me all the time and say, why don't we hear this in our church?
Why don't we understand this?
What you've shared with us from the word, we see it.
And how come I've never heard this?
Well, I'm just saying that's why God's word says in these last days, in these days of deception and truth being thrown to the ground, we need to really prepare ourselves.
And the Bible tells us and how we stay in the word, we study to show ourselves approved, and then be unafraid to speak it with gentleness, but yet firmness at the same time.
That's how we're trying to do it, and so many others are.
We're not the only ones, but anyway.
Amen.
And that's why it's important, I believe, that we remain uncensored, where the pastor can come preach.
And somebody said to me the other day, I think we were having this conversation.
I was telling you, somebody said to me, well, define uncensored.
I said, well, obviously, we're not going to let heresy go out.
Back Up Preaching 00:10:03
You know what I mean?
But I'm saying uncensored, if the Lord has said, hey, thus says the Lord, and you're a prophet and your prophecies, you know a prophet is a true prophet because their prophecies come true.
Then by all means, go preach the message, go prophesy the word of the Lord, go teach what the Bible says.
This is our foundation.
And if this is your foundation, it should never be censored.
It should never be watered down.
You should never say, well, I have to use this word instead of Jesus because I want more people to be able to, I have to use this word instead of this word.
I have to compromise here and I have to compromise there.
No, friends, we will never compromise the word of God.
It is our foundation.
But how important is it that there is platform that doesn't compromise?
Well, Pastor, I'll tell you from my personal experience, having been, I think I'm going into my 18th year here serving.
And about 10 years ago, I was literally commanded by a family member that I must quit.
Like to my face, you must quit or else.
And I had to literally go through the process of a deep, dear, direct family member saying, you must quit.
And I was like, I can't quit.
And that's because of the message.
I had to decide, am I going to serve Jesus Christ or am I going to serve money and compromise and go off and preach a soft gospel?
And I chose to stand on the wall because of this guy right here, Pastor Jim Baker, you can make it.
And this book is the reason.
The story that we went through is why I had to choose, I'm going to stand with the gospel for the folks on the other side of the camera, making sure that you get the message through my job of the director of the television network.
I make sure that it makes it to your house.
That's my job.
That's right.
And through that, I paid a heavy price.
But when I look at it, what does it gain a man to gain the whole world and yet lose his soul?
And I had to decide about 10 years ago, and I wrote it out and I stayed put.
And because of the Philadelphia church, and I believe that there's many of you out there that you followed us when we went off a television station, you said, where are they at?
We need to keep it.
Keep finding us.
We need to support this.
Well, it's important.
I mean, we have to continue to push forward the mission of preaching the gospel, period.
When you are called, two things happens.
Fear tries to sit in, but at the same time, peace comes along.
Amen.
And a lot of people ask me often, how do I know I'm in God's will?
Well, there's a marker called peace.
If there's peace in the midst of trouble, you are in God's will.
When you're in ministry, there will be everything under the sun that would try to discourage you from supporting Christian television.
And I want to remind you that Christian television has been a vehicle in which America and the world has heard the gospel from day one.
And to try to stop it now will be, it's like writing Iqbal over it.
Because I want to tell you something.
Till this day, Christian television is still being used to preach the gospel around the world.
The problem is a group of people called the Jim Baker Family Show are not willing to buckle under the pressure of censorship.
That's right.
And because of you, when you give, you give us the strength.
Do you understand that when you subscribe to be a monthly partner, you're giving us the strength.
We're not doing it for a paycheck.
Believe me, if that was the case, I don't think the three of us would be here right now because we have been tested and we continue to be tested.
But this is what the Lord spoke to me the other day is this word.
And it's amazing that God will give you a word if you're listening.
He said, I am not testing you so you can be strong in front of people.
I am training you and testing you so you can learn to trust me, even when fear is louder than faith.
That's right.
And faith moves in the capacity inside of fear.
And then the fear allows you to say, you know what?
I got to do this, do that.
No, but when God spoke a word, and Ricky, you and I were talking about this.
When God gives you a word, he ends it with, period.
He doesn't end it with, well, this has to happen, that has to happen.
No, when God says, I know I have a plan for you for you to succeed and not fail, period.
That's right.
Not if, well, I will bring my plans if you do this, if you do that.
No, God made up his mind about PTL and is going to go forward, period.
Amen.
That's why we can bring people like Pastor Carl Gallops, who has an important message for this generation.
Pastor, what was the first time you were on our broadcast?
How many years ago do you think that was?
Oh, this is amazing that you asked me that because I was just going to ask if I could interject and speak of when I was first on.
So the Lord is in this.
No, it's been about a dozen years.
I think it was 2000, maybe more than a dozen years.
It's been 2014 or something like that that I came on first.
Now, the point I want to make is to back up what all of you guys are saying.
And that is when I first came on the show, I was in the green room.
And of course, I knew who Jim Becker was.
And he walked in the room, and we just got along great and had a wonderful time talking.
And we were preparing to come out onto the studio set and to do several shows.
But I did ask him because I have this rule when I go to anybody's show.
I mean, I'm in your house.
So I want to be gracious and courteous to you and to your audience and to, you know, those that are part of your congregation that way.
So I asked Pastor Jim, I said, listen, is there any particular biblical theme you would rather I not speak of or any issue going on in the world that has biblical connotations that you'd rather I not speak of?
I mean, you let me know.
I'm in your house.
He looked at me without hesitation.
He said, Pastor, you speak what God puts on your heart on this show.
We will not censor it unless it's just like crazy stuff, like you said earlier, if it's pure heresy or something like that.
But he said, other than that, you might have opinions different than us on different things, but we want to hear them so we can iron sharpens iron.
He said, so you say what God puts on your heart.
And I'm telling you, all of these years later, he has never changed that.
He's never come back to the green room and said, look, I wish you wouldn't speak about this or I wish you wouldn't talk about that.
He's never done that.
And you guys have never done that.
We've had some great times together.
A lot of wonderful things have happened for the kingdom work because of that attitude of we're going to stand in the word to the best of our ability with God's help, the Holy Spirit anointing.
We're going to speak what we believe to be the truth, leaving room that we could be wrong about something and being gracious and humble about it.
And God honors that.
I tell our church now, listen, the culture is shifting.
The whole world is changing and technology is driving a lot of it.
So I have this saying in our church, we must do our best to accommodate the culture.
Now stop and listen.
That sounds like heresy, but listen to the rest of it.
Accommodate the culture without compromising the word of God.
Now, what I mean by that is we take advantage.
Now, we live stream in our church.
But I told my church we start live streaming, I'm not going to compromise the word so that the platforms where this stream would go will keep us on.
If they knock us off, they knock us off.
But I'm going to preach the word.
I'm going to be gracious.
I'm going to be kind, as I always try to be when I preach, but I'm not going to compromise the word of God.
So that has been true of the Jim Baker show.
And I can tell you this: in those dozen or more years, I've done an awful lot of ministry and media, national and international.
Most of it Christian, but some secular as well.
I have kept that promise to myself and to the Lord God and to the Word of God that I will not compromise the Word of God.
But I can tell you, there have been some shows that haven't had me back.
There have been other shows that when I would ask that question, and then the first time meeting them, they would say, Yeah, don't talk about this and don't talk about this.
Well, I wouldn't.
I would be gracious, but I just wouldn't go back because they would call me and say, Hey, we need you to come on and talk about this.
But listen, if I'm going to talk about this, I've got to talk about this.
So, but Jim, I don't, I never have that problem with the Jim Baker show.
I never have that tightness in my chest.
I can just go lovingly speak what I believe God has spoken to me.
And I'm just telling you and your congregational audience, there are very few.
They're getting fewer and fewer and further in between of places where this kind of broadcasting and this kind of ministry and these kinds of things are talked about without shame.
Critical is the times we are living in, friends.
That's not fearful.
That's not to say, oh, you know, the world's falling apart.
Let's go hide in a cave somewhere.
No, we want to stand and preach the gospel boldly until our very last moment.
And, friends, we're dedicated to doing that here at PTL.
That's, I know you've been dedicated for the last 18 years, Mondo.
I think you've been dedicated for the last at least 75 years, something like that.
I think it's 27 years.
But I'm saying, we've shown tried true faithfulness dedication to saying, you know what, it doesn't matter if the world says cancel culture.
It doesn't world matter if the world says banned off this social media or that or this air station.
If you won't stop talking about critical biblical issues, friends, we're going to continue to stand in the gap for you and your family.
Why?
Because we believe that your children and your grandchildren need to hear the gospel just as much as you did.
Stand With Us Now 00:05:15
That your great-grandchildren need to know that there's a platform that does not compromise the word of God for any reason.
And I believe that we can be a beacon of hope in this world.
No, this scripture here talks about sowing a seed.
And you can't, if you just get the seed and you hold on to it, or you get that dollar of those coins and you just hold on to it and you don't do anything with it, how can it bloom?
How can it blossom?
And I know in this age, everybody's trying to make a penny into a copper wire, you know, stretching that last cent out.
And I know Mondo's been sharing nonstop.
And Mondo, what would you say to the folks?
I mean, I know we were sharing the other day.
And what would you say about sowing a seed?
I heard it on the Mondo show the other day, and you were talking about sowing a seed and how important that is.
Yeah, listen, the thing is, this is, don't get tired of doing good, the Bible says.
And if there was a time that we need you to stand with us, it's today.
Write this down.
P.O. Box 7330, Branson, Missouri, 65615.
I know there's still a lot of you that don't like doing online or using your credit card, but you can use your checks today.
That is going to make a difference.
Or you can call 1-888-988-1588 and stand with us because your support is what is allowing this ministry, PTL, to broadcast this message into your home.
If there was ever a time that we need your help, it's today.
Amen.
Father, in the name of Jesus, release the finances.
Release the support right now.
Lord, we are in dire need.
We're not crying, wolf.
Lord, we're asking for help.
And Lord, we need help.
Amen.
And Lord, today can be a miracle day where we can meet the need where we are right now.
Father, release it in the name of Jesus and agree with us right now that God will speak into your heart for whatever amount that the Lord is speaking to you to write a check or to call us and say, guys, we're not going to give up.
Not today.
That's right.
Stand with us today.
Make the decision to continue this journey that we started in 2003.
Listen, you have been so important to the work that we're doing today.
There's a mission that cannot end today.
There's a mission to preach the gospel.
And we're doing everything we can to stay on the air.
And it's getting scary.
It must be scary for you as well.
But we don't stand in the face of fear.
We know that God's economy is not the normal economy.
Our economy is trusting in him that he will bring us through whatever we're going through right now, but we got to do it together.
Make the decision today to call us or to write a check, or you can visit the website and stand with us in this moment right now.
Don't wait till tomorrow.
Do it right now.
Your friend Jim Baker, Pastor Ricky Baker, Theron, myself, and our guests, we thank you for believing in us.
Thank you for standing with us because you are helping us continue this mission, Ricky.
And it is so important.
And thank you for staying ahead of this storm and understanding what this storm looks like.
You don't get thanked a lot, but we want to thank you because God is leading you and giving you the wisdom.
And we need you to stand strong.
Amen.
Amen.
And friends, no matter what comes in life, and we can say this with full confidence, it doesn't matter what trial, what tribulation, what fiery furnace you're in.
If you feel like you're at the Red Sea and the Pharaoh and his goons are coming after you, friends, it doesn't matter.
It doesn't matter where you are in life.
Because, you know, I know we've all had those moments.
You're like, Lord, I'm in the lion's den.
Lord, I'm sitting here in the fiery furnace.
Lord, I feel like Paul.
I've been shipwrecked so many times and beaten by my brothers and sisters.
I feel like all these things, but with full confidence, we can always say this.
And never forget this, friends.
We'll never stop saying this, that God loves you.
Yes, he really does.
Bye-bye for today.
We'll see you guys.
And we'll see you on the Jim Baker Family Show.
God bless you.
Thank you, Pastor Carl Gallus, for tuning in with us.
Thank you for watching today's broadcast.
What you're watching right now is a miracle.
But I believe that this gospel of the kingdom will be preaching all the world.
And that's what Christian television is all about.
Yes, sir.
God has provided for this ministry time and time again.
And we know he will continue to provide because he is faithful.
Giving isn't about pressure.
It's an act of obedience.
Your gift is an act of trust, an act of faith.
Stand with us, please.
Shift Your Mind 00:01:01
Amen.
I'm going to stand with you.
I'm going to teach you the end days in the days to come.
I'm going to teach you what to do.
What's coming?
Amen.
If God has placed it on your heart to give today, we invite you to do so now.
The moment your mind shifts and you stop thinking about, okay, how do I get $10,000?
But instead you start thinking, okay, how do I give $10,000?
Now you've turned the corner.
Now you're not just someone who sows.
Now you are a sower.
And that's who Jesus gives seed to.
And make no mistake about it in 2 Corinthians when he says he gives seed to the sower.
Paul is receiving an offering.
He's talking about finances in that moment.
I have never seen the righteous forsaken or a seed out begging for bread.
And I believe God wants to keep this pogrom on the earth.
