Waiting for Revival 00:05:50
Welcome to the Jim Baker Family Show.
Today, our special guests talk about reigniting the fire of the Azusa Street revival.
Our co-host today is Reverend Mondo de la Vega.
And now, here's your host, Pastor Ricky Baker.
Hello, friends.
You're watching the PTL Television Network.
It's an honor you've tuned in with us today.
You're not going to want to miss what the Lord is up to.
Friends, I want to say thank you for supporting the ministry.
Mondo, it's been an encouragement over the last few years.
We know Pastor Jim has had health complications.
He suffered now.
I believe he said, I said 12 the other day, and he called me, corrected me.
He said, Ricky is 13.
I said, it's starting to get hard to keep up with.
You know, he's had 13 strokes, many strokes over the last four years.
But every single time he bounces back and he is stronger.
Mondo, I think the conversations are getting longer with him every time we're on the phone.
It used to be we could jump on for 15, 20 minutes, but now we're talking for two, three hours.
His brain, his mind, he's still sharp, but he's still so strong.
He's still saying, remind the people that revelation in the news is taking place.
That's right.
And even though we may not talk about the headlines of the day, keep your eyes on the headline and grab your Bible on the other hand and begin to pray for revelation during this time.
Amen.
And so much is happening that the Bible says that where sin abounds, much more grace will abound.
Now you have to go back to Joel because in Joel, we see two parallels of things falling apart.
And revival.
But in the midst of that, what did you say?
Revival.
Revival's going to take place.
In a move of God.
In a great move of God that, and listen, God doesn't have to do it again, but because of his mercy, he is going to do it again because I believe there's a remnant group of people, Ricky, that are hungry.
What did you say in the green room?
I'm going to steal that.
I steal a lot of things from you.
Come on, please.
Please do.
Or brother, say, we borrow.
I borrow it.
Yeah.
I borrow it, never plan on giving it back.
That's what I always tell them.
Yeah, yeah.
No, we have to be hungrier than the last generation.
You know, if we look at, let's use powerlifting for an example, the Olympic people, you know, back in the 50s, they were only able to lift a certain amount of weight.
I think they were maxing out at 500, 600 pounds.
We have powerlifters now lifting over, you know, a thousand pounds.
And you asked these men, how were you able to do this?
Why?
And they said, well, we wanted to be stronger than the last generation.
So what we're seeing now is I've told you, and I've had this conversation many times, I want to be hungrier than the last generation for righteousness' sake.
I want to hunger and thirst for righteousness more than my father did, more than my father's father did.
And I believe that's what we're seeing right now.
People are looking for miracles.
People, wherever you go, people are looking for signs and wonders.
And if the church doesn't show up with the signs and wonders that the Bible promises us, they're going to run to the occult.
That's right.
And we see it happen.
Right.
And you see people telling you the fortune telling and people want their life being read through cards.
But I got good news.
There's a Bible that tells you your future.
That's our blueprint.
There's a Bible that reminds you of your future.
There's a word from God that reminds you that he is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
But the Bible says, blessed.
Quit chasing blessings that don't belong in the Bible.
The blessing is, blessed are the men that are hungry and thirsty.
That's right.
Because what happens?
That's right.
They'll be fed.
They'll be watered.
Oh, there's a blessing when you're hungry and thirsty for the Spirit of God.
And Ricky, there was a great move of God that took place in 1906.
That's right.
From one man being hungrier than his generations past.
That's right.
That's what it boils down to.
Absolutely.
And you know, it birthed out of a prayer movement.
You know, just a few weeks ago, maybe a few months ago now.
I was with a brother of mine named Alex, and we were in the prayer room.
And we were meeting at five o'clock in the morning to get together and to pray every single morning for breakthrough, for whatever it is the Lord would have us.
And I remember he came in and he said, you know, what are we going to pray about today?
We're going to pray about this, this, this, and this.
I said, well, actually, brother, today we're just going to wait.
Today, our only focus is sitting here and waiting on the Lord.
And what we want is for him to just show up in the room, not expecting anything else of him.
Mondo, in that moment, we found more breakthrough than when we were praying fire prayers.
And we just, because we were sitting there willing to just dwell.
What the world would call foolish and a waste of time.
We said, absolutely not.
It's a waste of time because we know that the Lord will show up.
And when he shows up, he transforms your life.
When he shows up, diseases will go away.
Iniquity will go away.
Sin gets covered by the blood of Jesus.
When he shows up, your mind can be sound once again.
It's all about finding Jesus to show up once again.
And Mondo, what we see here in Azusa is just that.
And this is a book we're going to be talking about today with some of your friends, Mondo.
And I want to talk about how this gets connected with Mary Grace Hughes and as well as Shelly Seamus.
I want to say thank you guys for being on the broadcast with us today.
Mondo, tell us what Azusa William Seymour's The Miracle Workers book is all about because you're kind of playing a role in something else that's happening.
There's a movie being produced.
And out of a waiting period, God would rise men and women to become a voice for a generation.
Yes.
And in the middle of that waiting period, if you listen closely, God will speak to you.
But the Miracle Worker is the story of William J. Seymour of what happened from Bonnie Bray home or Bonnie Bray Street, and it jumped all the way to Azusa Street and then to the nations.
That's right.
And today, when you see the nations, it goes back to Bonnie Bray and Azusa Street.
But this film is being produced because revival is getting ready to take place in ways like we've never realized.
Now, they're in pockets right now.
Another Azusa Moment 00:15:30
But a generation cannot forget the move of God once again in Azusa Street is our blueprint, aside from chapter two of Acts in the modern day.
It's a modern day blueprint.
Blueprint, Azusa Street.
Well, we need another Azusa moment.
That's right.
That is going to be hungrier, that is going to be more thirsty, that is going to create more opportunities.
And being a part of this project was birthed out of the move of God that is coming back to this nation once again.
And who would ever thought that the Ozarks will come a move of God that is getting ready to take place?
But this Azusa Street moment with William J. Seymour, the Miracle Worker film, is in the works right now.
And Ricky, we got two special guests with us today.
Mary and Grace Hughes.
Yep.
I want to ask, why did you pick Mondo?
I didn't kid it.
I was just obedient to this.
I was actually so moved by that story when you told me for the first time I've ever heard it in the green room.
I want you to share that again because I think this is an incredible thing, if you don't mind.
Okay, of course.
My husband and I was in the making of this movie for 10 years before he went to be with the Lord.
And he passed the mantle to me prior to his departure.
And he said, baby, you're going to be the executive producer of this movie.
So, and in the script, that is a reporter and editor, which was my husband, my late husband, that was going to play that part.
And three months later, after his departure, I was in a friend's house and I was telling her, Who am I going to my husband?
And then she went to the TV and started playing many other, you know, African-American men.
And she said, This one has a great anointing.
Then she jumps to another and to another and to another.
And I start grieving, you know, like I was, oh, you know, inside of me, Lord, nobody can replace my husband.
I'm going to be judging.
I'm going to be, you know, looking for flaws.
I'm going to be saying, no, no, that's not the way my husband wants to carry the movie and, you know, doing the part and everything.
And I was so grieved.
And suddenly I heard a loud voice, Mondo de la Vega.
Wow.
And I repeat the word, Mondo de la Vega.
And then my friend next to me, without knowing the struggle that I was going through, oh, I know Mondo de la Vega.
So she went there and flip, flip, flip.
She said, here's Mondo de la Vega.
Amen.
Here we are today.
Amen.
So what role?
What role are you going to be playing in the movie?
Just for our partners to know, because you're going to be a part of this movie.
I want to say it one more time.
It's Azusa's William Seymour, the miracle worker, the movie.
I will be playing the reporter and a narrator.
And a narrator throughout the film.
Reporting about the miracles that took place, reporting about the move of God in Bonnie Bray, but it goes all the way back from the beginning.
And I want you to know something.
When you trace back, and I told the Lord, Lord, if you want me to be a part of this film, you got to give me a sign.
How dare we ask God for a sign?
We always draw our fleeces down, don't we?
Yes.
But I said, Lord, I'm in the middle of Sacramento airport.
And I said, Lord, if I'm to be a part of this film, then there's got to be a Seymour in the family that will be a part of this film.
Otherwise, I would not be a part of it.
As I'm finishing that prayer, I bumped into this man, and this man is related back to William J. Seymour.
Wow.
And I said, Do I need another sign?
I don't.
I want you to know something.
This is very special because your friend, your pastor, Jim Baker, is connected to the Sousa Street moment.
It's connected to the Bonnie Bray movement.
Matter of fact, dad told me, Ricky, years later, that his plan was to move the Sousa, the Bonnie Bray home from Bonnie Bray Street to Heritage.
That's right.
They're playing.
Because Christian heritage is not being preserved.
That's right.
And yet, when people understand the move of God that took place outside of this home right here, a humble home that the move of God started with, you know what?
God is not looking for fancy.
If you look at this home, this home is not fancy.
He's looking for authentic.
There it is.
Come on.
There it is right there on your picture.
216 right there, Bonnie Bray House.
Samana, you have a wonderful connection with this home as well.
I encourage anyone to go back and watch, I think, even the Mondo show on the PTL Network to see your testimony, how you tie directly in with the Bonnie Bray house.
And I want to talk to you for a moment, Shelly.
It's Shelly Seamus, right?
Yes.
I want to make sure I say that right.
I have the Jim Baker anointing of pronouncing names wrong.
Shelly Simon.
Simon?
There we go.
See, like I'm anointed.
I'll tell you.
Shelly Simas, tell us your involvement in this movie.
How you guys are connected and what you really plan on this movie doing for our nation.
I met Pastor Lester, her late husband, first.
And that was a God's story.
Too long to tell today, but he chose Lodi, California to find a Christian that would maybe be interested in his ministry and his movie.
The Lord used another person to introduce us.
The rest was history.
We did Bible study together in our home.
We did church in our home.
And all along, my husband and I came alongside Pastor Lester, believing, partnering with him towards the vision of this movie.
Of course, then meeting his lovely wife and us becoming best friends.
And so this really started way before I had a clue of being here on this show and how God was going to take me through this all the way to the end.
Amen.
It's all God.
This is a movie that I believe you two really think will change the direction our nation is going.
So tell us why.
I think that the nation, the nations are ready to receive this great last revival before ushering in the return of Christ.
Amen.
I believe we're there.
I believe that the nations are hungry.
I believe that this movie is going to bring back the supernatural acts of God as mentioned in the word and that the church needs to be rejuvenated into the power of God and the supernatural.
Amen.
You know, Mondo, we see in Ezekiel 38, we see the war of Gog and Magog.
We always talk about end time events and how they're going to be playing out.
And friends, I do believe that we're living really close to the final boarding call.
I believe we're really living close to the last of the last days.
And even if we're not, let's say, timeline-wise, we need to live like we are.
We need to go out and evangelize like we are.
We need to go out and preach the gospel like we are.
But, friends, we see in Ezekiel 38, we see the defeat of Gog and Magog.
We see that whole war.
But I always tell people, go back one more chapter.
What do you see right before this huge prophetic end time event?
You see the valley of dry bones.
You see the Lord say, speak to these bones and give them life.
And he does.
And what do we see, Mondo?
We see tendons and flesh and bones come back together and this mighty army raise.
And I said, friends, in the same way that we are going to see prophetic end times event, I believe just like the Bible lays it out, we're going to see a great revival of those who are spiritually dead, get their flesh and their bones put back together and raise up to be a great army once again.
And Mondo, I believe that's the remnant that we're about to see rise.
The church during that time was in the middle of one of the greatest divisions in this nation.
100% warfare.
This nation was under so much division that no one knew what to do with the race issue, the slavery issue, the constant battle between right and left.
Does that sound like today?
Yes.
Yes.
Slavery in a different form, but our nation is divided once again.
People are wondering where we're going to go next.
Our economic system is failing.
It's like the perfect storm once again for God to show up.
God found one man, one man, praying, a man that didn't fit the character of what the church should look like.
A man that was half blind, a man that didn't have direction, but he had a call of God.
He had an anointing.
He had a mission.
And God began to move him out of a comfort zone and drag him throughout this nation where he was rejected.
He was abandoned.
Nobody knew what to do with him and ended up in California.
Don't give up on California.
Amen.
We're believing for a second.
So I want to tell you something.
That's the greatest moment of God moving in a place where no one is expecting a miracle to be birthed.
And look at our nation today.
Our nation on one side is falling apart.
What's holding it together is God's decision to have a president there that is not going to bow down to the World Economic Forum.
He's not going to bow down to the elites.
That's holding it together.
But in the next three years, things are about to shift dramatically that can send this nation into a spiral, but God.
And while that is happening, Ricky, God is preparing a remnant that are praying, that are fasting, that are seeking the Lord.
And we need to be reminded once again that when God decides to move, nothing will stop it.
Miracles, signs, and wonders will begin to take place.
While artificial intelligence is promising miracles, signs, and wonder, God is about to go head to head with artificial intelligence.
You know, what I think Azusa really shows the entire world is that while the earth and the United States of America was in deep turmoil, revival can still happen.
Friends, God doesn't look down and say, well, they got a Republican president.
Revival can't happen right now.
Or, well, they've got a Democratic president.
Revival can't happen right now.
No, the Lord looks down at the people's level of hunger, no matter who is in your office, no matter who is in your leadership.
He looks down at your hunger as a people and says, you know what?
I'm going to pour my spirit in a pocket over here.
I'm going to pour my spirit in a pocket over here.
But friends, I believe the United States of America is hitting this divine shifting moment.
We're about to see a key unlock the door, and we're going to step into that door.
And I believe this Azusa movie is going to be a huge part of that.
Where we have found the key, the key is about to unlock the door.
And when people start watching this movie, I believe the Holy Spirit's going to fall on theaters.
I believe the Holy Spirit is going to fall on homes.
And people are going to start stepping into their callings, even through a film like Azusa.
Now, we have a video.
I want you to watch this.
I believe it's from Lester Hughes.
Watch this video on him talking about the Azusa movie.
A little friend.
Welcome to our platform and thank you for joining us.
My name is Lester Hughes.
I'm the executive producer of the movie of this William Seymour, The Maritime Warshaw.
This is a true story that's been in the makings of the last 10 years is out coming in full.
It is the true story of William Seymour, who was the son of ex-slaves, who God brought to Los Angeles to pastor one of the greatest revivals that it's ever stayed in point.
It was prophesied 100 years ago that there would be another great revival, but it would be in many places all around the year.
And it's happening today.
In fact, in this revival, miracles took place.
Extraordinary things happened.
Arms grew out, legs grew out, things that had never been experienced before.
What we call miracles, signs, and wonders are things that God wants as the normal in every believer's life.
Think about it for a moment.
We serve an awesome God, the creator of the universe, and he has granted us the opportunity to be his children.
He desires to work through us, doing the same phenomenal things that happened during the Azusa revival.
This movie actually is going to demonstrate the power of the Holy Ghost that's available to be operating each one, each believer that's willing to embrace the power of God.
And so we invite you to come and join us.
Come and experience what God wants happening in every believer.
This will show you how you too can be a part of history in the making.
So come and join us.
Thank you for again for viewing our five points.
We look forward to seeing you on the big screen.
Amen.
And that was your late husband.
What an incredible man of God, pioneering something that He has passed the baton onto you.
You know what I love to see is whenever Mondo, there's something pioneered and somebody says, You know what?
I'm going to pass this baton on.
And you didn't just say, you know what?
I'll put the baton on my shelf.
I appreciate that he gave it to me, but it's not my calling.
You have taken it and you have ran with it.
And I want to say thank you for that because I believe a whole generation is going to see a shift because of that.
Mondo, you're a part of this, which is an incredible thing.
Because I'm just going to be honest, we're always blunt here.
30 years ago, would you have said, you know what?
I'm going to give my life to the Lord.
I'm going to be, you know, one day talking about the Azusa Street Revival in a movie as a narrator, as a reporter.
And, you know, this is what my life's going to look like.
Never.
Never.
I was so far-fetched from that.
But the beautiful thing is this: when you don't see yourself the way God sees you, you're going to miss your moment.
God had already saw this moment for me 30 years ago.
Amen.
30 years ago, I was headed to hell.
30 years ago, a lot of people don't like preaching about hell, but I was going straight to hell.
I was a sinner, a filthy sinner, saved by his grace.
I was no good.
I didn't deserve to be on this other side of grace.
But yet, God had a plan and a purpose.
And you're right.
When you don't see yourself the way God sees you, how can you even allow it to be in this moment?
But I want to tell you something.
Can I read you what they said?
Listen to this.
20 years later, while writing his memories of the revival, Frank once again returned to the subject of singing in tongues.
Amen.
He said, and I quote, when I first heard, when I first heard it in meetings, I had a great hunger to receive it.
I'm going to stop right there because the fact that this man wrote, he had a great hunger to receive the Spirit of God to be able to speak in tongues.
God said, I'm going to give it to you.
And what did you just say right now?
Sure, we have to hunger for it.
Amen.
The moment you declare that you're hungry for the Lord.
He'll feed you.
Say it again.
Yep, he'll feed you.
Yes.
Amen.
Yes.
Amen.
Yes, Mondo, the Azusis Treaty revival was the revival of the baptism with the Holy Ghost and fire experienced by the disciples at Pentecost, according to the book of the Acts.
So, and then the shift came in 1906 when William Seymour was so hungry for God and he was seeking for the baptism of the Holy Spirit and God heard from heaven.
900 Million Revival Dreams 00:06:55
So, and then from the Azusis Treaty Revival, it births the major movement of the Pentecostal churches.
The three major church, assemblies of God, the Church of God in Christ and the Four Square Church came from the attendees of Azusi Street Revival.
And today, 900 million people trace their roots to Azusi Street Revival.
900 million.
900 million.
Can you imagine it now that we are making the Azusa movie to revive the wonders of that revival and be a link to the church today to seek for that outpouring of the Holy Spirit to shift the situation and be prepared for the last time harvest?
The church is going to have a toe in their hands with the movie Azusi Street Revival.
Azusa William Seymour, the miracle work.
Take some time today.
Whatever you're doing, if you're working, I understand.
Take some time to pull out your smartphone or go onto your laptop, your computer at home, and type this address that you see on the screen in there and go and see when this is going to be released, when you can find it in your area, how you can stream it, whatever it is.
Friends, I want you to get this.
And I also want you to go and get this book.
Because Mono, you know what they say, it's always better to read the book before you see the movie.
That's what I always say.
Go and fill your life with all the different things that happened at Azusa.
Why?
Because I believe it'll do nothing but edify and encourage your faith.
William Seymour had a clear understanding that if the disciples of Jesus Christ need the fire and the baptism of the Holy Spirit to go to all the way to Jerusalem and Samaria and all the parts of the world and proclaim the gospel and proclaim the Savior of Jesus Christ, much more us today.
We need it.
So William Seymour, he knew it that he needed that.
He need that outpouring.
He needed that endowment of the Holy Spirit.
He needs to be filled with the Holy Spirit.
He needs to speak in tongues.
He needs to experience that baptism, that fire that the disciples had.
And that's what happened to William Seymour.
He went passionate for that experience.
Amen.
And look what happened to the Church of Jesus Christ.
A shift happened in the last century.
Just 120 years only.
900 million people can tie their roots back to the Azusa Street Revival because there was a man so hungry.
He said, I'm going to do whatever it takes to feel the presence of God infill my life.
So I want to ask you this question.
What do you guys need?
I know to making a movie like this, it requires a lot.
requires finances, funds, actors, you know, web producers, people who can publicize things.
What is that you guys need?
Because I believe we have the best partners in the entire world, the PTL family, between our partners at the PTL Network, our partners at the Jim Baker Family Show.
You guys allow us to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ uncensored to the world.
And whenever we have someone like this and we can partner with them, I know our partners love to do that as well.
So tell us some of the need that you guys have.
Well, praise God.
Yes, the needs are great always.
Amen.
But God is the great provider and we know that he has those out there already.
We prayed this morning and we said those that hear this message today, that your hearts will already be ready to receive it.
Amen.
Those that can come and partner with us, we're looking for partners that want to come alongside us in prayer, in donations, investing.
We have many needs because we're ready to go.
The script is ready.
We have our actors.
We have our great reporter and narrator.
And we're ready to go.
We are waiting for God to release funds to have us complete the trailer.
Amen.
That is our next, that is our next goal for God to open the door for the finances to produce the trailer that can go out to many pastors, churches, people of God, ordinary people like Mary Grace and I, whoever has the passion in their heart, when they've heard this message this morning, they will know God will stir their spirit to come alongside us.
This needs to be the church's, we need the church.
We need people to come alongside.
This is not Mary Grace or I's story.
This is God's story.
Amen.
And we need people to come along and feel it's important enough to get it to the big screen.
That's right.
Pour into this.
There's those who are watching right now who can write a $100 check.
There's those who can write a $100,000 check to go and support this.
And why do I think this is important?
Because the new generation, the next generation, your children, your grandchildren, your great-grandchildren need to see what happened at Azusa.
Why?
Because I believe it'll stir a fire in them.
They say, hey, William Seward was hungry, but I'm going to be even hungrier.
He wanted revival, but I want revival even more.
This will encourage their faith.
And friends, you could be the catalyst in your family.
You could be the catalyst in your church, in your community, in your area that people say, you know what?
I saw a great move of God through a film, but I want to see a great move of God in my lifetime once again.
Go and support this, friends.
Go to that website.
We're going to put it up on the screen for you to see once again.
Go and support.
Like I said, if it's $100 that you can do, that seed will be being put into good ground and watered and taken care of.
And you'll see it come to fruition.
If it's $100,000, if it's $1 million, there's people out there that can do that to support something like this.
Friends, sow into good ground today.
And I want to say this with all positivity, with all confidence.
This is good ground to sow into.
Go click that website.
Go check this out and be a part of what God is going to do, I believe, to show the next generation, your grandchildren, your children, what God has done and what he will do again for a hungry generation.
Friends, it's all the time we have today.
I want to encourage you, go to this website, go to PTL.tv, jimbakershow.com.
Support our ministry and what we're doing, preaching the gospel around the world, because friends, we'll never back down from the cause of Christ.
We'll never back down telling people Jesus is the only way to heaven.
If you want to pray the salvation prayer, call our number.
It's 1-888-988-1588.
We'll pray with you.
We'll help you have Jesus come into your life, be the ruler, Savior, Lord, Savior, all of it.
He'll be number one, and we'll help you find a good Bible-believing church in your area.
Friends, I want to say thank you for being on the broadcast with us today.
Thank you for having me.
We love you guys so much.
And never forget this as Pastor Jim Baker says it the best.
I wish I could say it as good as him, but I can't.
