Today, our special guest is founder and president of Faith to Action, Janet Porter.
Our co-host today is Reverend Mondo de la Vega.

We have a very exciting guest.
We have Janet Porter.
She's the founder and president of Faith to Action.
Now, this was formed to win the cultural war for life, liberty, and the family.
Janet is also the architect of the pro-life heartbeat bill, which ensures that if a heartbeat is detected, the baby is protected.
Mondo, this is an incredible thing.
You know, we're going to be getting into more questions with her talking about how maybe they can get this involved in their state if it's not already there.
Mondo, if you turn on the news right now, trial, tribulation, hardship.
We see the war happening right now in the Middle East.
We see war happening with Russia and Ukraine.
We see our own border walls seemingly within and closing on themselves because people are raiding right now within the streets of our public places in large cities.
But there's hope.
Absolutely.
And that's what I want to encourage you.
You know, Mondo, in this life, people are going to face trials.
They're going to face tribulations.
There's going to be hardship, hard times.
You can turn on the news and very easily see Iran is at war with Israel.
Ukraine is at war with Russia.
The United States seems to be imploding on itself because we have riots in the streets right now because there is a weakened southern border that allowed millions of people.
And by the way, reminder to people, hundreds of thousands of children have gone missing since then, but there's been no riots about that, just riots about the ICE deportations.
And it seems to be that the world is imploding on itself right now.
My hope is found in the Word of God and the Word of God only.
I can become riddled with anxiety, riddled with depression.
I can become worried about everything that I see, or I can choose to root myself and put my foundation back on Christ Jesus every time.
Friends, it's easy in this world to get filled with anxiety.
It's easy in this world to become depressed.
It's easy in this world to see everything bad that's happening and feel a personal responsibility like there's something you can be doing better.
Friends, I want to let you know right now that God is on the throne and he is going to take care of his people.
He is going to take care of believers and he's going to take care of you.
You may be going through a time of your life where you are insecure for food, for finances, for funding, for anything that you need.
But just know this.
There is a real God who loves you, who sent his son to die on a cross for you that you could have eternal life.
If you face trial and tribulation in this world, just know it's temporary for the eternal glory that you're going to see for saying yes to Jesus Christ.
Mondo, you can turn on the news right now.
I guarantee you we'd have at least five negative things pop up very quickly.
Yeah.
But we have hope found in Jesus Christ, don't we?
That's it.
And I think we got to remind ourselves that we are people of faith and action.
Amen.
And when you become a faith in action type of person, it changes the landscape of how you see things, how things are getting developed, because the first thing we do as believers is we go to prayer and then ask God for wisdom on how to navigate, not through your opinion, but through the word of God about issues that are shaping our culture today.
The landscape of the moral compass has changed in America, and we have to understand that we have to go through the trials and tribulations that the Bible tells us about, but it's how we go through them that is going to change the outcome of everything that we do.
Don't join a protest just to protest.
There's got to be an explanation through the word of God of why you're standing for what you believe in.
And our special guest today stands on what she believes in, follows through on what she's talking about.
And very few people, Ricky, are willing to get into this fight with the federal government in order to stand with what the Bible says.
That's right.
This is someone who truly has put action to words.
We want to welcome to the program, Janet Porter.
Janet, thank you for being on the program with us.
For those who don't know what the heartbeat bill is, when you first introduced the heartbeat bill, what was the reaction and what is this for those who don't know?
Sure.
I just want to say thanks again for having me on.
Ricky, you said it.
There's all kinds of wars and rumors of wars that are happening right now, but we seem to have forgotten that there's a war on children in the womb.
So what the heartbeat bill is an idea that God gave me now 15 years ago, and that is if a heartbeat's detected, the baby's protected.
It's a bill that says we're no longer going to ignore the science, you know, because to deny a heartbeat is to deny science.
To ignore it is heartless.
And so while we want to protect every child from the moment of when their lives began at fertilization, if we're not able to get there yet, we can at least protect every child whose heartbeat can be heard.
Oh, and by the way, you mentioned, what was the reaction?
When we introduced this bill back in 2010, they said it was impossible.
I mean, we were up against the establishment of the Republicans, the pro-lifers who fought us for nearly a decade.
And yet, I will tell you this.
It sounded crazy when we first introduced the first heartbeat bill.
But you know what?
15 heartbeat bills later and stadiums full of children who've been saved doesn't sound so crazy anymore, does it?
So I want to ask the question then, why were you facing backlash against pro-life Republicans and conservatives?
You know, that's a good question.
It seems as though the Republicans, those who are Republican in name only, those are the ones who say, I'm going to use babies to get elected instead of using elections to save babies.
They want to do as little as possible to hold on to their power.
And the same is true, sadly, for those in the pro-life establishment.
You know, I used to be legislative director of Ohio Right to Life for nine years.
But you know what?
When we introduced the heartbeat bill in Ohio, it was Ohio Right to Life that fought us harder than Planned Parenthood.
It's really obscene to see what's happening in the world.
But you know what?
Instead of focusing on the Goliaths, what we got to understand is that God wins.
God is greater than any obstacle we face.
And I will tell you this, that once you've seen Goliath fall, there's nobody that can tell you it can't be done.
Amen.
So I'm going to ask you this question then.
What was the bigger hurdle that you had to overcome during this process?
We see clear that you faced opposition, not just from people that you knew would clearly be opposed to this, but what would be also seemingly friends.
So what was it?
And what was the hardest thing to press through when it came to the heartbeat bill?
Well, you know, everything at the core, Ricky Mondo, everything that I've noticed is at the core is spiritual.
I mean, when we were introducing this bill and we were getting it voted on the floor of the House, there were witches that came out.
They had t-shirts that said pro-abort witch.
They had pentagram earrings the size of dinner plates.
They had, you know, just every spell and incantation you can think of.
But God is greater.
God's greater than all the obstacles, the rhinos, the establishment, the pro-life pretenders.
And what I want to say is I made a bold statement back in 2010 when we introduced the heartbeat bill right around Valentine's Day back then.
They said it was impossible.
They thought I was crazy.
But I'm going to make another statement.
I'm going to say we are going to see children protected whose heartbeats can be heard across this nation with a federal heartbeat bill.
And I want to say, I'm going to just declare it in the name of Jesus because I've seen Goliath fall and I know that he can fall again.
And so I believe that what we're going to see is a bill that keeps hearts beating and it can reach even into the deepest blue state, the purple states.
It can reach nationwide to keep hearts beating, and we've got a way that we're lining up to help people do that.
Amen.
So if somebody wants to know if the heartbeat bill has been passed in their state, how would they go about doing that?
Is this as easy as a Google search, or is this something that they'd have to contact even further within their state legislature?
Yeah, they can do that by simply searching online.
I actually, on my Heartbeat Away book, I know you guys have given this away as a premium.
I want to say we've passed some in Arkansas, North Dakota, Iowa, Kentucky, Mississippi, Georgia, Missouri, Louisiana, Ohio.
Florida was the most, Texas, Florida was the most recent.
And we are seeing stadiums full of babies who are saved because of heartbeat bills across the country.
But we've got a battle to ensue is what we're seeing is we saw in the United Kingdom just recently, they passed a bill that says we can kill children until birth.
A lot like those ballot initiatives that are coming across the country as we saw in Missouri, Ohio, and about a dozen states that are trying to say we're going to repeal every pro-life law you've ever passed and we're going to institute abortion until birth.
That's why not only do we need to fight it at the state level as we're seeing in Missouri and elsewhere, but we need to fight it federally.
Because you know what?
The big thing that we're overcoming in Congress right now is that everybody thinks that this has gone back to the states.
You know, Roe versus Wade was overturned.
It was relegated to the ash heap of history.
But the right to life is not a state issue any more than the right to liberty.
You know what?
If we had said, let's let the states decide the issue of liberty, we probably still have some slave states today.
No, slavery, liberty, it's not a state issue.
And the same is true of life.
It is not a state issue.
It's a God-given, inalienable right that is guaranteed in the Constitution that every one of our legislators swore to uphold.
Not only every member of Congress, but the president, the vice president, and the Supreme Court all swore to uphold the Constitution.
And in that Constitution, it says that we are guaranteed that God-given right to life, that we have equal protection under the law.
And it says in the 14th Amendment, one of the things that people tend to overlook, it says something that's been happening every day in America.
It says, nor shall any state deprive any person of life.
Exactly what's been happening.
But the Constitution says you can't do it.
And the role of Congress is to enforce the Constitution as it's spelled out specifically in the 14th Amendment.
Wow.
Janet, I got to ask you this.
Why did you do this?
Why would you subject yourself to a career that brought you a lot of heartaches?
Scrutiny.
Scrutiny, people talking about you, accusations of you misleading people.
Why would you do this?
Why was someone like you that could have built a career on something now's what made you wake up one morning and say, I got to fight for this?
Well, I'll tell you when it was.
I remember the day.
It was in the 10th grade when a speaker came from the pro-abortion side and the right to life side.
And I heard all the flowery slogans and the right to choose and all of these things and women's rights.
And then I saw what it is they were choosing.
I saw a slide of really the result of every single abortion, and that's a dead human being, a dead child.
And when I saw the picture of the babies thrown in a hefty bag, it was a picture from the right to life that it's the result of every abortion, a dead child.
And I looked at that and I said, there's not a slogan that makes that okay.
There is nothing that can make that all right.
It's a violation, not only of our Constitution, it's a violation of God's word.
You know, you know this.
God wrote with his finger in stone, thou shalt not kill.
You know what?
He also commanded us in Proverbs 24, 11, we're commanded to rescue those that are being carried away to death.
It says in Proverbs 38, we're commanded to be a voice for those appointed to die.
It is a command.
It's not an option.
Maybe it's not my thing.
It's a command.
And I just want to use my life to save lives, to follow the commands of God, because I want to be a nation that God can bless.
I want to see children live and not die and declare not only the works of the Lord, their purpose and destiny for which they were created.
And that's really my motivation behind all this.
And I do know this, that God has blessed so far with 15 states and counting, but I know we've got much more to do.
And I believe to get to the heart of the issue, we've got to go to Washington.
We've got to get to a federal heartbeat bill at a minimum that can, and this is what I told Governor DeSantis on the day he signed the heartbeat bill in the state of Florida.

I explained to him that this was once, this was once the ceiling.
When I first introduced the bill in 2010, they said it's too much.
We've gone too far.
They're not ready for this yet.
But what was once the ceiling is now the floor.
The heartbeat bill is now the bare minimum that we can pass.

We've got a bill in Congress and we're looking for people to help us get this through by being a voice for the voiceless, as we've been commanded to do.

In Missouri, Amendment 3 was passed that would include the fundamental right to reproductive freedom.

Or so it said, now a proposal to repeal this amendment will appear on the 2026 November ballot.
Can you please give us your insight on what this would mean for the state of Missouri?
Sure.
We have experienced where really a foreign attack against the states, where foreign billionaires and blue state millionaires pump money into the state in order to try to turn the state to be a bloody abortion until birth state.
And that's what happened in the state of Missouri.
It's happened now in about a dozen states, including my home state of Ohio.
It's horrific.
I believe at the core it's unconstitutional.
It's a violation of our Republic form of government, which were guaranteed in the Constitution in Article 4, Section 4, that we don't have a direct democracy.
What's a direct democracy?
Ben Franklin put it this way.
It's where two wolves and a lamb vote for what to have for lunch.
It's not mob rule.
It's not where the mob, we don't make laws by the mob with the most money wins.
And that's what happened in Missouri and many other states.
But Missouri, by the way, which was the first state to protect children fully the day Roe versus Wade was overturned.
I was in Missouri when that happened, and they restored legal protection first in the country.
They were also the first to repeal this horrific amendment.
And I'm so grateful that they're going to be putting this on the ballot.
I do believe that we have a better way to approach than ballot initiatives, but we've got to fight every way possible.
And this is a great way that they're going to put this on the ballot and say, not only are we not going to allow children to be slaughtered in the womb, we're also not going to allow their parts to be, their organs to be harvested.
We're not going to let children be mutilated.
That's all part of that ballot initiative that passed in Missouri.
And this amendment coming up in November of 2026 is going to allow the voters the opportunity to repeal that whole madness.
They're the first one to do it.
And it's exciting to see that the people of Missouri are pro-life and they're not going to sit on the sidelines on this one.

You know, you're working on a federal heartbeat bill.
Tell us about that, because so far it's just been state by state, but you said you're working on something that could be federal.
Sure.
It's H.R. 682, and it's Representative Kelly out of Pennsylvania is the sponsor of this bill.
And it's a bill that is very much like the state heartbeat bills that said if a heartbeat's detected, the baby's protected.
And I'll tell you what, I was praying about how to get this thing moving.
Seems like everybody in America is paying attention to everything else that's going on, but we're forgetting about the most defenseless in the womb.
And so we've got to educate the members of Congress.
I said, all right, well, how can we do that?
We've got a postcard campaign that can actually let people know, hey, you know what?
That the right to life is not a state issue any more than slavery was a state issue.
No?
It's God-given.
It's inalienable.
It's guaranteed in our Constitution that you, member of Congress, that you, Mr. President, Vice President, Supreme Court, swore to uphold.
And so what was interesting is I was looking in the Constitution.
I found something in there.
In the 14th Amendment, that's the one that says we have equal protection under the law.
It says, nor shall any state deprive any person of life, you know, kind of like what's been going on in Missouri and all over the country.
Well, guess what?
It says that Congress shall have the power to enforce by appropriate legislation the provisions of this article.
In other words, hey, Congress, your job is to enforce the right to life, the equal protection, the part in the Constitution that says states can't deny the right to life from any human being.
And that's really what it was.
And I was praying one day.
I was actually with my, I'll just do a little plug for you.
I was reading my PTL Bible that I got from y'all.
And I was like, God, how do we get this going?
How do we jumpstart the federal heartbeat bill?
And I was reminded when I was on your program not that long ago with former majority leader Tom DeLay.
We were passing, we were introducing, I think we were sending at that time, we sent faxes, we sent emails, and because of the partnership of your viewers, they clicked the button and they sent emails.
How many?
910,000 emails.
So they told us we had to stop, that it was shutting down business.
The same happened with the fax when we sent nearly half a million faxes.
They said, you've got to stop.
We can't get any work done.
You know, people are complaining, and we can't get something moving in Congress.
And if I had known how close we were to a million emails, I might have gone a little further, but we stopped.
But the message was heard loud and clear.
And so how can we deliver a message that can be heard?
Well, we were shut out of faxes.
We were shut out of emails, but you can still use the Postal Service to send a postcard.
And we've made it so easy that with a click of a button, we can send the postcard that educates those members of Congress that, hey, you know what?
The right to life is not a state issue any more than the right to liberty was.
We don't have slave states and we shouldn't have death states.
So this is a message that we're going to deliver to them.
We're going to print it.
We're going to personalize it from you to them.
And we're going to do it for less than the price of postage.
A lot of people are realizing, yeah, these prices that we're putting on here just to give people the incentive to send these postcards.

We had more co-sponsors than any other pro-life bill in Congress.
But we still had to face the Republican establishment, the Republican pro-life pretenders.
What we need to do now is say, no what?
We're going to send a message they cannot ignore.
And I'm hoping we send not just thousands, hundreds of thousands, but I want to get to a million so that they can see that America has not forgotten the war on the defenseless children in the womb, that we're going to stand up and be a voice as we've been commanded to do.

I think, you know, a lot of times we can spend a lot of time complaining about things that are not getting done, but when someone has done all the work and they need your help, that's where you come in.
That's where we stand together.
And I want to tell you something.
You got to be people of action.
Be people of faith.
We know that.
But a lot of times, Ricky, people don't take action.
And what do they do?
They sit on the sidelines complaining about life.
Quit being a complainer.
What did dad used to say all the time?
You complain, you remain.
Exactly.
Don't remain silent.
Let your voice be heard.
Listen, this is what I love about the United States.
That the left, whatever you call the left, they have the right to voice their opinion.
And whatever you call the right, they have the right to voice their opinion only in America.
That's right.
Now, this is your chance.
Do you want your voice to be heard?

Or are you going to be on the sidelines complaining about everything about life?
Be a person of action.

Janet, if there's somebody who's watching this right now and they maybe are on the fence about supporting something like this, they've never gone out and done anything with political activism, but they're saying, you know, there's just something about this that I want to be a part of.
What would you say to somebody who is maybe on the fence about the support of this?
Well, I would say that there's never been a time that it's easier to make a significant difference.
This isn't getting on some lists.
It's not a fundraising campaign.
We're actually losing money on it.

By the way, the Democrats, they also swore to uphold the Constitution.
It's time they keep their oath as well.
So you can click at whatever level you're able to participate in.
But I'll tell you what, there's never been a, I believe, a more significant bill in America than the Federal Heartbeat Bill.
It's H.R. 682, and it's something that you can make a difference for.
You know, as Mondo says, you don't have to take a week and write it all out handwrite.
We're going to print it, personalize it, and we're going to put it through the Postal Service so they get it in their hands.
It will be tangibly delivered along with the message that this is not a state issue.
We don't have slave states and free states.
We shouldn't have death states and life states.
And what we want to do is make a difference and remind them that in the Constitution that they swore to uphold, their job is to enforce the God-given right to life.
And that's key.
It's never been easier.
It's never been more important.
And I'm going to tell you, because I've seen Goliath fall, I've seen state heartbeat bills pass across the country.
I'm going to tell you what you may not have heard somewhere else, and that is that we can pass a federal heartbeat bill.
We can see hearts beating nationwide and no longer deny science and ignore a child's beating heart.

Thank you for bringing awareness state by state, but now also you are doing this federally.

I believe every state needs to be fighting for this as well as federally.
We need to get this crossed and mandated.
It makes sense.
It's common sense truly that if we protect an eagle's egg whenever it is being incubated, and we should be able to protect a baby with a heart that is beating.
