Believing in Miracles 00:14:34
Welcome to the Jim Baker Family Show.
Today, we discuss the Holy Spirit with Pastor David Hernandez.
Our co-host today is Reverend Mondo de la Vega.
And now, here's your host, Pastor Ricky Baker.
Hello, friends.
We have an exciting broadcast for you today.
Today, we have Pastor David Hernandez.
He's an evangelist, best-selling author, YouTuber, healing minister, and friend of the Holy Spirit.
His EO, Mondo, I think that's an incredible thing is to have one of your things being is, you know what?
I love the Holy Spirit.
Yeah.
I thought that's a bio for somebody.
I'm a friend of the Holy Spirit.
I'm a friend of the, you know, he has an evangelistic gift.
Yeah.
You don't walk into the healing ministry and don't have an evangelistic gift because you have to love people.
Yeah.
Healing isn't always clean.
It's not always a clear-cut thing.
Sometimes it's messy, like restoration is a messy business, but we restore people because we love people and healing is the same thing.
You guys got that evangelistic healing ministry and he holds services all around the world and reaches millions of people through media.
And David carries a grace to evangelize the lost and to lead believers to closeness with our favorite person, the Holy Spirit.
Come on.
Pastor David, I want to thank you for being on the broadcast with us today.
It's a joy to be with you.
Thank you for having me.
Come on, tell us about who you are.
If someone's watching and they've never seen you or been a part of your ministry, tell us who you are and what you do and where you're located.
Well, I'm a husband.
I'm a father.
I'm currently located in Austin, Texas.
I love the Lord and the Holy Spirit helps me to minister to the lost and to the believer to help them see empowerment.
Amen.
Amen.
You wrote a book and Pastor David, I want to ask you, what inspired you to write Holy Spirit, God within you at this particular time?
So there are a couple of things that inspired me to write Holy Spirit, God within you at this particular time.
One of them being a lot of misconceptions concerning the person of the Holy Spirit.
It seems to me that we have two extremes when it comes to our understanding of the person of the Holy Spirit.
One extreme is where there's no order.
There's no biblical foundation.
And what we often call spirituality is actually just emotionalism.
And I want to say clearly, I am not against manifestations of the Holy Spirit's power.
In fact, I think we should embrace that because the other extreme would be to deny his power outright, to try to placate to the things of this world, to try to placate to the culture, to try to say, we're not weird, we're not strange, we're not like that.
We're sophisticated.
We are a little more like you.
And in so doing, though that may seem like a good evangelistic effort, what we're actually doing is denying the power of the Holy Spirit because the Holy Spirit's power by its own virtue is a little strange and we have to be accepting of that.
So on one side, we have no word.
On the other side, we have no power.
We need both word and spirit.
So that's the first reason.
One of the other reasons, in fact, probably the primary reason, is that many believers lack an understanding of their current relationship with the Holy Spirit.
Far too many believers look at the Holy Spirit as a reward for being super spiritual.
In other words, if I go to church enough, if I sing loud enough, if I cry emotionally enough, the Holy Spirit will be given to me and then I can begin to live from that power.
But I often tell people that we don't attempt to connect with the Holy Spirit.
We live from that connection with the Holy Spirit that's already been established because of the finished work of the cross.
Come on.
Mono, the finished work of the cross.
We've been on this theme for a few weeks now, and that's what people need to be constantly reminded of is that it is a finished work.
It's not a partially complete or in progress.
It is a finished work of the cross.
Pastor David, you are on it.
I love you, man.
I've watched you for years.
I've watched your growth and I love what you're doing today.
How has media impacted the ministry that you're doing today?
Because you were doing this before, but something happened.
What shifted a few years ago that you say, you know what?
I'm going to take social media.
I'm going to go into media stronger and teach people about what you've learned about the power of the Holy Spirit.
Well, I think that the Holy Spirit will often speak to us specific instructions at pivotal moments in our lives.
But then he also gives us wisdom, that divine guidance within us, pulling us down the path of purpose.
And so the Holy Spirit, I believe, gave our team wisdom in the field of media.
And it was basically the natural next step as far as we could see.
It just sort of unfolded before us.
Now, since I was a boy, I had loved media.
I was always using cameras and editing softwares and so forth.
I have a bunch of short films from when I was a kid.
So I had a passion for media.
And I actually believe that God will use your passions and he will tie them in with your purpose.
Because I think we complicate it sometimes where we imagine that God has this very narrow, specific idea of what we are to be doing on a day-to-day basis.
And if we deviate that from even maybe an inch or two, then that's going to completely derail the call of God for our lives.
But the call of God's not that fragile.
In fact, I believe it's as simple as God has called us to use our specific giftings to fulfill his general command.
So there is somewhat of a, I would say there are some moments of autonomy that God gives to us.
And so when it comes to media, it was just sort of this passion.
I said, okay, I love winning souls.
I want more people to hear the gospel.
I want to reach more people with hearing about the Holy Spirit.
What are the tools available for maximizing that reach?
And then that naturally became, well, it started with YouTube.
I think we started with YouTube in 2006, 2007, somewhere around there.
And then from there, it just began to post more often and we saw the fruit of it.
And once we see the fruit of it, you know, that motivates us to continue to do it.
So we started using YouTube more often.
And then we spread out to other social media platforms, such as you see today, and then even some of the newer ones.
And it just sort of snowballed into what it is today.
It wasn't like it was this overnight success or that suddenly everything was handed over to us, but we did see this gradual and then sudden move of the Holy Spirit in the media.
And there were moments where the efforts would come together to culminate to these accelerated moments of growth.
And I think that's what God does is he rewards that faithfulness.
So we would be doing it for a few years and then an explosive moment of growth and then a new plateau.
And then maybe struggle through that plateau, experience a dip here or there.
It wasn't all just up always.
And then after struggling just a little bit and then succeeding just a little bit, then struggling just a little bit back and forth, another moment of explosive growth and then setting a new plateau.
And I think that as we're faithful in the ministries that God has given to us, he'll add to that ministry his grace.
And so we just saw it as the next natural step.
And we're hearing all the time, this is what amazes me, from people who are receiving their prayer language while watching on the internet, who are getting healed, who are getting saved.
We've seen literally, and we have the metrics to show this, literally thousands of people testifying that they have been saved while watching one of the live streams or by participating in some of the content in some way.
And it's just astonishing to me to see how God is doing all of that through his ministry.
Amen.
Friends, I want to give you the opportunity.

Mondo, I think everybody needs to know what the Holy Spirit is up to in their life.
You know, Pastor, this book poses a profound question: does God still speak today and is his power still at work?
You know, Mondo, a lot of things that we've been hearing as well is, you know, we see the power and the hand of God heavy in the Old Testament.
We see the grace of Jesus in the New Testament, but the day we're living in, you know, where are the miracles?
Where's the things that God's up to today?
Pastor, how do you address these questions for believers who may feel, you know, disconnected from the experience and experiencing the Holy Spirit today?
Well, I have heard that common criticism.
And I think that sometimes if we hear something often enough, we simply grant it as a premise and begin to believe it.
Namely, this idea that the Holy Spirit isn't really moving like he used to.
And I would say that he's probably doing more today than he ever has before because of the acceleration of media, because of the acceleration of just something as simple as the global population.
There are more testimonies coming in.
There are more experiences that people are having.
But when we go to look for the power of the Holy Spirit, I think that there is, and I want to be careful about the way I say this because I don't like to create, you know, us against them mentalities, but there is this thinking within the body of Christ that is almost in line with atheism, where they kind of have the same talking points.
They kind of make the same demands.
The reality is, miracles need no defense.
The reality is that when the supernatural begins to move upon the earth, we're not always going to be able to measure that in empirical means or have, you know, something, maybe you can't touch it with an instrument.
But when it comes to the power of the Holy Spirit, that is an experience that we have and we stand on the word of God.
The word of God, not our experience, should dictate to us what we believe.
So even if it was the case, which I don't believe that it is, but even if it was the case that we weren't seeing as many miracles today, that doesn't mean that we should therefore say, well, okay, that's just the way it is now.
That's what God's doing.
No, that would be to put experience above the word.
But when we ground ourselves in the word, we find there are depths and riches untold, that there is a world of spiritual activity teeming with life and vitality and color.
It is vibrant.
It is loud.
It is powerful.
And I simply am saying that we have to have the faith to connect with that.
It really is not formulaic.
We can't reduce it to methodology.
People ask me often, well, how do you see miracles?
Or how do you do this?
I'm saying, honestly, all these years, I still don't know.
It's not like I've got this figured out.
And if I did have it figured out, it wouldn't be miraculous.
It is simple faith.
And we have to come back to this simplicity of simply acknowledging what the word of God says and then believing for that with the help of the Holy Spirit.
And when you make it that simple, then you begin to open yourself to the world of the supernatural where you see demons being cast out, which, by the way, is still for today.
You see people healed.
You see people saved.
You experience dreams and encounters and visions.
And this isn't to say that we can force that or we should fake that or that we shouldn't test all things, but this is to say that we mustn't be ashamed of the Holy Spirit's power.
Often what we call biblical balance is actually just personal preference.
Because when you look at the scripture, you see there are strange things that God does.
There are miraculous things that God does and they manifest in our everyday lives.
And so as believers, if you want to know the power of the Holy Spirit, it's as simple as surrendering to the Holy Spirit and spending time in his presence.
The key to the power is the presence.
Nothing more, nothing less.
It's not by our own merit.
It's not anything we work up.
It's not by becoming a spiritual guru and knowing all the mysteries of God.
The Holy Spirit already knows all the mysteries and he lives in you.
And so we have to come to this place where we recognize that the same Spirit who raised Christ from the dead dwells in us, not in a smaller measure, not in a less potent measure, not in a half measure, not in a new convert version of the Holy Spirit, but in the fullness of his power.
The same Holy Spirit who hovered above the face of the deep as the Father sent forth his commands, causing all things to come into existence.
The same Holy Spirit who inspired the craftsmen to create the various items that were to go into the tabernacle.
The same Holy Spirit who helped Joseph to interpret dreams.
The same Holy Spirit who gave psalms to David and wisdom to Solomon and prophetic oracles to the prophets of old.
The same Holy Spirit who sent a whirlwind to derail Jonah's disobedience.
The same Holy Spirit who rested upon the early church, the early disciples, and Jesus himself.
That Holy Spirit dwells in you the very moment you are saved.
Ephesians 1, John chapter 3, Romans 8, 9, all make it perfectly clear that the very moment you put your faith in Christ, the Holy Spirit comes to dwell in you.
So then, it's not a matter of you getting more of the Holy Spirit, but of the Holy Spirit getting more of you.
We don't experience more of God in getting more of God.
We experience more of God in surrendering more of ourselves to God.
And it's that yielding, that simple trust, that simple faith that says, God, whatever you want me to do, I'll do it.
Whenever you want me to take that step of faith, I'll take it.
Listening for the voice of the Holy Spirit, being sensitive to and responsive to his instructions.
When we begin to live in the simplicity of that, we come back to the biblical foundations of what the early church understood, the biblical foundations of what's available to us today.
Then we begin to see the power in our daily lives.
And no skeptic can take that away.
No cynic can deny it.
We experience that power day by day, not going from encounter to encounter to encounter, but in living in that encounter because of that friendship and that closeness with the Holy Spirit.
This book is going to transform your life.
Listen, you start with chapter one, my friend the Holy Spirit.
Why that you wanted to start with that chapter, my friend the Holy Spirit?
How did you become a friend to the Holy Spirit?
Well, he was my friend first, if I can put it that way.
And I started with that chapter because I wanted people to see what was available to them.
Four Hours Of Prayer 00:06:49
And of course, throughout that story, I even use, of course, we have to use scripture as the foundation of our understanding, but I wanted people to understand that there are no super Christians.
And I think the danger, especially when you're in media ministry or in healing ministry or anything that involves the supernatural, is people put you on this unrealistic pedestal.
And I wanted to show right off the bat, look, there are no super Christians.
None of us have this all figured out.
We are completely reliant upon the Holy Spirit.
So I showed in that first chapter how the Holy Spirit rescued me from severe depression, from severe anxiety.
Now, of course, if we want to get into the spiritual dynamics of this, my great-great-grandfather was a warlock from Zacatecas, Mexico.
And I'm very careful not to use the term generational curse.
I think sometimes we mean different things when we describe a curse, but basically I would say he made choices that set certain conditions that I was going to repeat if I didn't make different choices.
But we can make different choices that alter the path.
But I suffered severely with anxiety and depression.
My mind was tormented as a child.
And I'm talking hearing voices, seeing faces, speaking with demonic entities.
I'm not saying that to boast.
That's not something you would even boast about.
If anything, I would try to bury that in my story because it makes me sound less like a super Christian.
But I want people to know this because it was bad.
It was dark.
It was deep.
It was hopeless for me until I received Jesus as my Lord and Savior.
And that was at the age of 11.
And when that moment came, I remember thinking within myself, I'm actually meeting him.
I'm actually meeting the one I've heard so much about.
I'm meeting the one who we read about in scriptures.
I'm meeting that Jesus.
He's walking into the room right now.
And I remember that when the Lord entered my life, every demon ran out.
And there was this flood of peace and joy, and it was overflowing.
And I remember from that moment on experiencing spiritual momentum, reading books, watching Christian television, going to every revival service, getting in line for every prophetic service.
You name it.
I was doing it.
I was there.
Books and TV shows, even Christian movies.
I just was feeding my spirit.
And there was this spiritual momentum that I was experiencing.
And suddenly, this is kind of contradictory to what you think would happen.
It just stops.
And I'm going, what did I do wrong?
I went back to my religious thinking, which thought it all depended on me.
I said, okay, what did I do wrong?
How did this momentum suffer?
I felt in one moment like the Holy Spirit was very close.
And then in the next moment, I felt like he's a million miles away.
And I'm saying, what went wrong here?
What did I do?
And so I locked myself in the room.
And I remember I prayed for four hours.
Now, let me be very clear so nobody misunderstands what I'm saying here.
I am not saying that because I prayed for four hours, the Holy Spirit moved in my life.
That's not at all what it was because then it would be reduced to a formula.
Rather, what I'm saying is after four hours of praying and experiencing nothing, after four hours of praying and not sensing the return of that presence on my life, I finally gave up and I realized there was nothing I could do in my own strength to cause an encounter with the Holy Spirit to happen.
And so I remember finally saying, Lord, I don't know how to pray.
I don't know how to find Jesus.
Please help me find Jesus.
And then I just surrendered.
And I realized something then that the Holy Spirit didn't leave me.
And this is where so many Christians struggle and they're so afraid.
They live their lives think from day to one day to the next, saved, not saved, saved, not saved.
Filled with the Spirit, not filled with the Spirit.
Filled with the Spirit, not filled with the Spirit.
And that's where I was.
I thought he left me.
I thought he abandoned me.
I thought I prayed a wrong prayer or didn't pray enough or didn't read enough chapters of the Bible or maybe thought something that wasn't in alignment with God wanted me to think.
And so there I was just trying to work this up on my own.
And then I came to that point where I said, this doesn't depend on me.
I can't do this.
You would have thought in that moment that somebody took my bedroom and lifted it to a heavenly place because the plain ordinary settings of my room turned divine.
I sensed again that flood of love and joy and peace.
I felt pulses of electric currents moving up and down my body.
The presence of Jesus was so real, I thought that if I opened my eyes, I would see him standing in front of me.
The color tones in the room, when I finally did open my eyes, the color tones in the room seemed to be shifting.
It was as if God had stepped into the natural realm or manifested his presence and the weight of his glory bent even the light waves as if creation was standing at attention to the manifestation of his glory and majesty.
And I remember, had I sought that for a hundred years, those few minutes would have been worth it.
But it began that recognition of the friendship with the Holy Spirit.
And I think that's what the church needs.
Not so much an acquisition of the Holy Spirit, but a realization of the Holy Spirit, a revelation of the Holy Spirit, where they finally acknowledge that the only distance that can exist between them and the presence of the Holy Spirit is their unawareness of his presence.
Sometimes you're going to fill him, sometimes you're not.
Sometimes you're going to sense like he's really close.
Sometimes he's going to feel like he's really far.
But all the while, we should know and remember that our dear friend, the Holy Spirit, does not abandon us just because we don't get it right.
He doesn't leave us just because we make a mistake.
Ephesians 4.30 tells us to not grieve the Holy Spirit by the way we live.
So then that tells us very plainly what happens when we make mistakes as Christians.
He doesn't leave.
He grieves.
He abides to help you get it right.
And so what sense would it make for God to remove from you your only power for being holy as a punishment for you not being holy?
That just doesn't make any sense at all because the desire to be spiritual comes from the Holy Spirit.
The grace to be spiritual comes from the Holy Spirit.
The power to continue to be spiritual comes from the Holy Spirit.
All of it's him.
And that's why it's simple yielding.
And again, it comes back down to trust and faith.
And that right there is why I began with the chapter on my friendship with the Holy Spirit because it shows the dynamic of simple surrender.
Elevate Your Life 00:03:45
We're helpless without him.
And all believers can have him in the fullness of the measure that he comes.
Amen.
Wow.
The whole story is in here.
As you're telling the story, I'm reading and I can't stop reading it.
And listen, you said this.
Just wait and expect.
Come on.
Oh, man.
Listen, you got to get this book.

Holy Spirit, God within you.
This right here, Ricky, is going to take you to a different level to experience not the rituals that we, the church, sometimes poses on you.
And even books have been written about five steps to the Holy Spirit, nine ways to get into his presence.
How about just wait and expect him to show up?
Amen.
How about that?
Stand still.
Turn all the distractions away and just wait upon the Lord and see what happens.
Amen.
Listen, the first action is get the book, read the book, and then begin your experience.
Amen.
We're going to get back with Pastor here in just a minute.
I'm going to get you an ad from our sponsor today's show.
I want you to watch this and see who gets to help us continue to preach the gospel around the world.
Watch this.
If you have a heart, you need nitric oxide.
Even the University of Florida called nitric oxide the spark of life in the cell.
This miracle molecule is essential for cardiovascular health, improving blood flow, lowering blood pressure, and boosting your energy.
So what it does, it's balancing the neurotransmitters.
It's increasing blood flow throughout the body.
It's protecting you from the number one killer of everybody, which is cardiovascular disease.
With Cardiomiracle, you're unlocking the potential for extraordinary health and vitality.
Again, we have to feed our brains.
And so this not only feeds the brain with the appropriate ingredients and nutrition, but also the blood flow.
You know, for instance, you out there, you know, when you stand up and you get dizzy and you feel like you want to fall, especially the older population, we have hip fractures and things.
It's because we're not getting enough of the hydration that we need.
So the water, but also the blood flow dynamics shift over time.
And so the nitric oxide helps to even that out because you're getting the nutrition you need.
And again, the nitric oxide and getting that blood flow, the pressure head of blood to your brain.
Take it before your workout.
Take it after your workout.
Receive the benefits.
It's amazing.
Cardio Miracle is a winner and it's worth a try.
So give it a shot.

Pastor, as we wrap up, what is the central message you hope readers take away from Holy Spirit God within you?
That you don't have to struggle or beg or plead for what God has already given to you.
All power, all grace, all holiness, all boldness, all gifts, all fruit of the Holy Spirit dwells in you in fullness.
Jesus said, out of your inner being will flow rivers of living water.
Pray for the Flood Within 00:03:55
So then the influence of the Holy Spirit is not rain from heaven.
It's a flood from within.
Spiritual growth, technically then, isn't even your spirit growing.
It's when the rest of you catches up with who you already are in the spirit.
And so how much time and how much heartache could you save if instead of begging for the Holy Spirit, you simply believed he's already with you, despite what you felt, despite what others told you, but based on the word, believing that he's within you.
And then flows everything.
Friendship with the Holy Spirit, the gifts of the Holy Spirit, the fruit of the Holy Spirit, sensitivity to the voice of the Holy Spirit, revelation from the Holy Spirit while you read the word, power from the Holy Spirit while you pray, inspiration from the Holy Spirit while you worship, and on and on.
I cover all aspects of the nature and ministry and power of the Holy Spirit flowing from the presence of the Holy Spirit.
Isn't that incredible?
Wow.
Powerful.
Listen, when I hear your voice, Pastor, I really do sense the Holy Spirit.
Would you pray for those watching right now that are struggling, Christians that have been on the walk, and yet they're still discouraged?
They don't understand that this is not a formula.
There's no potion to this.
It's just expectation.
Would you pray for those watching right now?
He's going to complete the work in you.
He's going to do it.
Now let's pray.
I want you as we pray to acknowledge and to know that the Holy Spirit is in the room with you right now.
He's looking at you right now.
You have his attention and he's listening intently.
So precious Holy Spirit, I pray that you would cause that one receiving now to sense the beauty and the glory and the majesty of your presence.
Let the weight of who you are fill the room and cause them to be flooded by love and joy and peace.
Thank you, Lord, that your power is now moving upon them.
Power present to heal, to deliver, to comfort.
Permeate their minds and hearts and bodies, I pray.
Thank you, precious Holy Spirit, for resting upon them.
Thank you, Holy Spirit, for moving in them now.
I give you the praise and the glory and the honor, Jesus.
In your name we pray.
Amen.
Amen.
I want to read you a small excerpt of the book right here, Mondo.
It says right here, Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts.
That's Zechariah 4, 6 in the King James Version.
It says right here in the book, when you sincerely pray, help me, Holy Spirit, you are acknowledging your dependence on him.
I don't know how to pray.
I don't know how to gain divine revelation from the word.
I don't know how to truly worship.
I don't know how to live holy.
I don't know how to win souls.
Without the Holy Spirit, I am utterly helpless.
Saying, help me, Holy Spirit, means I can't do this without you.
That's it.
And friends, that's the life we live.
We truly need the Holy Spirit in our lives.
If you want to pray that salvation prayer with someone today, then call our number.
It's 1-888-988-1588.
We'd love to walk you through the steps of salvation.
It will be the best choice you have ever made.
Well, Pastor, I want to thank you for being on the broadcast and thank you for sharing your book with us today.
Hopefully we can have you back on and talk a little bit more about this subject.
But friends, if you're watching at home, until next time, don't let anybody in the world try to convince you otherwise.
And always remember this, that God loves you.
He really does.
Bye-bye for today.
Thank you.
Thanks for watching.
