Live From Morningside USA 00:07:24
Hello and welcome to the Jim Baker Family Show coming to you from the village of Morningside, USA, nestled in the beautiful Ozark Mountains.
Today, our special guest is author and founder and senior pastor of New Beginnings Church in Bedford, Texas, Larry Huck.
Our co-host today is Reverend Mondo De La Vega.
And now, live from Grace Priard at Morningside USA, here's your host, Pastor Ricky Baker.
Praise God, friends.
We're glad you have tuned in with us today.
We have an important broadcast with Pastor Larry Huck.
He is the founding and senior pastor of New Beginnings Church in Bedford, Texas.
Pastor Larry is recognized authority in the Hebrew roots of the Christian faith, and he and his wife Tiz host a weekly television broadcast called Larry and Tiz Huck, which airs Mondays at 11.30 a.m. and several times throughout the week here on the PTL television network.
Mondo, we're going to be talking about his new book today.
From Junkie to Jerusalem, a journey of destiny.
What an odd man.
The title alone, powerful thing.
Friends, don't tune out of this show.
You're going to want to watch every minute of this.
What an incredible broadcast we have planned today.
So you better hold on to your seats.
If you thought that he was powerful talking about Israel, this man is powerful to talk about his testimony from junkie to Jerusalem.
Come on, it doesn't get more clear than that.
Listen, there's some stories in there that I didn't even know about his testimony that is going to blow you away.
The connections.
I mean, listen, you got to get the book.
Normally, we don't push the book right up front.
This is what you got to get.
This is one of them that you better get.
This is going to rock your world.
If you thought he was a man that grew up in the church, you've got it all mixed up.
This is a story that is for now.
Call the number right now, 1-888-988-1588.
You're not going to want to miss this story.
Amen.
An incredible story, an incredible pastor.
You know, I was at the National Religious Broadcasters.
I was actually talking to someone that we're friends with there in Dallas, Texas.
And I said, we're going back and we're going to be interviewing some folks.
And I listed off a name, a couple names, and they jumped in excitement.
You know, they're 26 years old, 27 years old.
You have Pastor Larry Huck.
And so we're going to have to watch that.
We're going to have to watch that.
And it's exciting to see so many people are excited about this man to be on our network, to also be part of this journey that we're on, the PTL television network.
But I'm glad we have men like this in the household of faith.
Because I'm telling you right now, I tell you, if we had a man like this who was opposing the Christian faith, we'd be in a real world of hurt.
But he's on the team that wins.
He's on Jesus' team.
I'm telling you right now, what an incredible journey he's walked through through this book.
We're going to be going into some details in a little bit.
Mondo, we have some exciting things happening here at Morningside Church coming up over the next few weeks and few months.
We have one event coming up called AI or Aliens, AI, and the Antichrist, a conference where we're going to be asking the hard questions and answering the hard questions.
And I believe we've already started two more events that are going to be happening in the fall and late fall here at Morningside as well.
There's a lot of stuff happening here on our campus here at Morningside.
If you have men like Noah Harari making proclamations about the God of the Bible isn't real, you better hold on because this man is on a mission to write off the Bible, to write off Christianity.
But I want to tell you something.
Behind his information, there's a biblical worldview that you better learn and better learn it quickly.
And what better way to have it, Ricky, that having this people that are the experts in this subject matter of artificial intelligence?
What does the Bible have to say about that?
Aliens is one of the biggest subject matters right now.
And I want to tell you something.
If President Trump opens up the files that they've been holding on on, I want to tell you something.
It's going to rock people's world.
Yet, LA Marzulli is going to be joining us on what that means and what does it mean for the future of the church.
That's right.
Friends, you know who will also be here?
Bishop Alan DeDeo, and he has made a video for the Ready Now Expo.
So, while this is playing, go to readynowexpo.com.
It's a completely free event.
You have to register, though, so we know how many people are here.
We have the appropriate amount of seats and we have to make sure we don't have to go to a bigger location.
But, friends, we want you to be here.
Register for free in-person access.
There's also going to be a banquet, but also you can register online, readynowexpo.com.
Watch this from your friend, Bishop Alan DeDio.
Churches and even major mega ministries are afraid to touch subjects like artificial intelligence, aliens, Nephilim, the Antichrist agenda.
And I've been screaming from the top of my lungs: somebody somewhere needs to have a convention, a conference, a revival where the body of Christ can rally around these issues.
And I'm so thankful that it's happening and you can be a part of it.
The Ready Now Expo.
Go to ReadyNowExpo.com today and register for April the 10th through the 12th and be a part of this dynamic conference.
Wow.
Amen.
A dynamic conference.
And that's exactly what this is going to be.
Mondo, who are some of the guests we're going to have here with us?
I love this.
I love L.A. Marzulli.
He's one of the greatest leading voices when it comes to this subject matter.
I love Dave Robbins.
He's there in Texas.
What an incredible journey that a lot of these people are going to take us into through the Bible.
Listen, I want to make it very clear because a lot of the subject matters that a lot of Christians do and they talk about is not through the Bible.
They want to give their opinions, scientifics, and all that.
And all that is great and fantastic, but nothing beats the Bible.
This is something that we need to have.
Joe Horn is going to be here.
That's the son of Tom Horn, which is at Skywatch TV.
He's going to be on Monacy Mondo.
The message he's going to be bringing is incredible.
He's going to be talking about the beast system and the role it's playing right now in the world.
It's incredible.
Absolutely.
Carl Gallups is another one, another favorite of this ministry here.
And I want to tell you something.
The voices that are coming together.
I mean, we're getting emails by L.A. Marzulli inviting other people to come in.
You better hold on.
I think he's had about four other people.
He's like, by the way, you also have to have this person here.
So we're trying to add as many as we can.
We've had some more incredible people say yes to this conference.
So all the names you see on the screen aren't all the people who are going to be involved.
We're adding more weekly.
Friends, this is going to be an exciting conference, April 10, 11, and 12.
Come join us in person here on our campus at Morningside, or you can go to readynowexpo.com.
You can sign up to be a part of this virtually.
We have pastors across the United States of America right now getting this conference ticket so they can play it at their church.
So their church can be made aware of what's happening around the world.
We need to stay involved.
And listen, the church needs to stay involved not only with this subject matters, but we need to stay involved with what's happening in Israel.
I believe that Israel is a key marker of where we are in Bible prophecy today.
And a lot of churches, I'm amazed.
I'm surprised.
I shouldn't be surprised, but I am surprised that a lot of churches are not standing with Israel right now.
From Junkie to Jerusalem 00:03:04
And you're treading in dangerous waters, people.
I want to tell you something.
God's chosen people has not changed, and that is Israel.
That is a land that God has handpicked for this hour.
And I'm glad that today's guest is not a stranger to Israel.
He's a friend to Israel, and he's going to be giving us an update on what's happening in the land of Israel.
Amen.
Friends, we have Pastor Larry Huck with us on this broadcast.
Pastor Larry, I want to say thank you for being on this broadcast.
There are so many people who know you.
They know your program.
They love you.
And they love the ministry in which you are now forerunning.
It's an amazing thing.
But maybe they don't know about your past, where you've come from, the things that you have walked through to build the faith in which you are at today.
He made it very clear with the title of this book who he was and who he is.
No question.
There's no questions about it.
I want to ask you right off the jump, where did you get the boldness to say, you know what?
I'm going to call the Bible.
I'm going to call this the title of this book, From Junkie to Jerusalem.
You know, guys, for years, I've shared my testimony or parts of it from prisons all over the world to the White House to the Knesset in Israel.
And in a matter of 10 days, I had three different people that I didn't know contact me and said, this is a unique story.
Have you ever thought about writing a book or doing a movie on your testimony?
And I knew it wasn't a coincidence.
You know, in the ancient Hebrew language, there's no word for coincidence.
And I had been feeling for months that maybe I ought to share my testimony and write it down.
And so I just knew it was timing.
I wrote it for two main reasons, guys.
One is to let people know that no matter where you're from, no matter how deep of a pit you are in, or your child's in, or your grandchild's in, the love of God, the power of God will reach down and pull you up out of that pit.
And the second reason I wrote it is, and that's why we called it from a junkie to Jerusalem, is, you know, and I've done just interview after interview after interview on the book.
And one of the questions always, when you were a drug addict, when you were living in inner city South St. Louis, when you were on a ranch in Columbia, South America, smuggling drugs, did you ever think you would go to the White House and meet the president or sit with Prime Minister Netanyahu or do these things?
Like Father, Like Son 00:06:40
And so I really wanted to share that, not just being delivered from drugs, but when you give your life to Jesus, the destiny God has for you is beyond anything you can imagine.
And I really believe right now with President Trump being in the White House, with everything that's happening prophetically around the world, that I want people to get ready for the best, the most anointed time the kingdom of God has ever seen.
And that your life, whoever you are, your life is about to go on an exciting journey preparing for the coming of Jesus.
Amen.
You know, one of the barriers that led you to drug abuse was anger.
How did your father contribute to these issues?
And were you able to make peace with him before he passed away, Pastor?
Yeah, you know what?
We really were.
And I'm so glad, Ricky, you brought that part up because, you know, for years you talk about the drug addiction and people, it's almost like, well, that's kind of neat to talk about.
But more than my drug addiction, I had an extremely violent temper.
I was very, very violent.
And I tell the story in the book.
I came home.
I was a kid.
I can't remember how old I was, nine, 10 years old, eight years old, something like that.
And I can remember, we lived in a little house.
We lived in South St. Louis.
We lived in a house, I think it was about 800 square feet, the whole family.
And I can remember even walking in.
And my dad was to the left.
His back was to me.
He was on the phone.
And I heard him talking to a boy's home, trying to give me away.
And my dad doesn't want me.
And I remember going into my room where I shared with my brothers and began to cry.
My dad doesn't want me.
But then I grabbed myself and I said, you know what?
Nobody's ever going to make me cry again.
And I share that because you look at that.
You know, my dad would, and I did make peace with my dad right before he died.
My dad got saved.
And so, you know, my dad was like this because he didn't know Jesus.
And he prayed with me not long before he passed away and we made peace.
He made peace with the whole family.
But I remember him, you know, beating us.
I came home one time, guys, five minutes late for dinner and walked in the door and my dad blindsided me and knocked me, just punched me in the side of the head and knocked me down.
I must have been seven years old or something.
And then he kicked me all the way through the house.
And my mom used to be a nurse.
And she came out.
She went in to see me.
He kicked me all the way through the house, through the living room, down the hall, into my room.
And my mom came in to see if I was okay.
And she came out.
She was getting the car keys.
And my dad said, what are you doing?
And she goes, I'm taking him to the hospital.
His ribs are broke.
And my dad said, no, I'm not spending one penny on him.
You wrap his ribs.
And I remember my dad.
And once again, this is not to say bad things about my father because he didn't know Jesus.
But I remember seeing my dad hit my mom.
And I would say as a kid, you know, I hate this.
I will never be like this.
But there's a saying that says, like father, like son.
And the very things that I saw in my father that I hated, I became.
And I talk about in the book of how to break generational curses, how to break family curses.
And years ago, I wrote a book on it called Free at Last on breaking family curses.
And so it's not uncommon.
We see this a lot amongst Christians is they're saved, they're born again, but they still have these negative characteristic traits, this negative spirit that I wanted to share in this, that not only will Jesus forgive you, the world says it like this.
You know, the world says once a junkie, always a junkie.
You know, they told my mom, your son will never change.
You know, I remember a judge, I got in trouble with the police, and they said, your son will never change.
Once a junkie, always a junkie.
The world says you'll never change, but the word of God says who the son sets free shall be free indeed.
And so it's a story that I wanted to write to let everybody know, listen, don't give up on yourself.
Don't give up on your child, your grandchild, whoever.
This is a time in which God can come and set them free.
This is powerful.
Listen, I can identify with the anger that you have towards your father, Pastor.
I wrote about it in my book, and I don't mean to throw it in there, but you see, Ricky, when people become gangsters like myself, and then you got a junkie that Larry Huck came to be, it's not birthed just out of nowhere.
There's a root cause.
Pastor, you got to lead me back into the moment where what led you to become a junkie?
What was the story behind that?
Because the things that you talk about and to see you today, the impact that you have made in Christianity and the world, no one could ever even imagine to see you as a junkie.
What led you to become a junkie?
Well, you know, it didn't start off, Mondo, as you know, and then Ricky knows, you know, that kind of thing doesn't start off where you just, boom, one day you're doing heroin.
It's always something that you go to the next level and the devil tells you, well, you can handle this.
And then you go to the next level.
You know, I started drinking and running the streets when I was a little kid, you know, and getting in trouble and getting drunk and running with the gangs and getting arrested and all that.
Five O'clock Mass 00:03:02
And then eventually I went to college on a football scholarship and I started doing drugs there and started selling drugs there.
And, you know, I know this sounds bizarre, but all along this journey, I knew there was a God.
And I wanted to know who God was.
I can remember when I was a kid, we would stay out in the streets.
You know, we're 10, 11 years old, 12 years old, and we'd stay out in the streets all night long and come five o'clock in the morning, we'd go into the Catholic church.
They were having five o'clock mass or something and to get out of the cold and sit in the pews.
And I always thought, man, someday, is there a God?
Is there a way to know God?
And I know this sounds crazy, but this was in the hippie days.
This was, you know, I really thought drugs and eventually cocaine would be an answer to God.
And, you know, the sad thing of it is, is I never thought about looking in a church.
One is I sold drugs to people that went to church.
I didn't see them any different than I did.
And when I was in college, there was a priest there.
He's a really nice guy, Father Tom.
I can remember it.
And he'd come to the beer cake parties with us and party with us and stuff.
And I remember going to see him, Mondo, one time, and I knocked on his door and I said, Father Tom, I said, I want to know about God.
And he said, well, Larry, what do you want to know?
And I said, I want to know about God parting the Red Sea.
You know, I never read the book, but I saw the movie with Charlton Hess and the Ten Commandments.
And I said, I want to know about these things.
And he said, well, these things didn't really happen.
They're just made up or something different happened.
And I thought, well, that's not the God I'm looking for because I'm looking for a God that has power.
And so long story short, I really believe that cocaine was the answer.
I've been smoking dope, doing LSD, dropping acid, you know, and when I got to Columbia and had a ranch down there, I don't know if you guys have ever seen the movie America.
I think it's American Maid with Tom Cruise.
That was a little bit after that.
But where they landed that plane was right across the hills from where we were living and smuggling cocaine out of there.
Doubled Cocaine Dosage 00:02:22
And, you know, when I was in college, I'd play football at about 210 pounds.
I won, I took third in the whole nation in powerlifting.
And within a year of being in Columbia, I was doing so much cocaine every day over and over and over again.
I was down to about 140 pounds.
And one of the people was living with me, this young girl and this guy.
And she said, Larry, she said, you're doing too much drugs.
You're going to kill yourself.
And they went into town one day to get some supplies.
And I said, you know, I'm really going to get high now.
And so I took the amount of cocaine that I normally used and doubled it.
And Mondo, when I doubled it, I shot it up, but I'd been snorting cocaine and smoking dope and drinking all day.
When I shot it up, I didn't realize I went through my vein.
And so I didn't feel the rush.
And so I doubled it again.
And then I shot up again and went through my vein.
So I doubled it again.
And this time, I mean, it's just insanity.
But this time I hit the vein and I immediately collapsed to the floor.
I knew that I overdosed.
I knew I was dying.
And I cried out and I said, God, please don't let me die.
And not because, and you know, I think sometimes this throws Christians.
I didn't call out to God because I was afraid of going to hell.
You know, I'm from the streets.
I'm not afraid of anything.
I said, God, don't let me die until I find what happiness is.
Because I had looked in everything.
I'd looked my whole life to be happy and never found it.
You know, temporarily.
You know, temporarily, this will make you happier.
God's Help in Hard Times 00:15:38
Temporarily, the drinking will make you happier.
Temporary, the immorality will make you happier or the drugs.
And I got into drug dealing because I was raised so poor.
I was the first huck to ever graduate from a university.
And my graduation gift was a white shirt.
We were poor.
And so I thought, well, maybe money's going to make me happy.
And there was nothing there.
And every one of us has a hole in our heart that only the presence of God can fill.
We try to fill it with other things, but it's only the presence of God.
And that's why I felt like, okay, I'm going to share almost all the story because there's so many people like me that, and even people in church, guys, that have a hole in their heart that only truly the presence of God can fulfill.
And so I cried out, I said, God, don't let me die.
And I love telling this part of the story in that God heard that.
You know, we can say we don't believe in God.
We can say we don't believe in the Bible.
We can say we're agnostic, we're atheist.
But the moment something happens to us, or maybe to someone we love, or maybe to a child or a grandchild, we can say, well, I don't believe there's a God.
But immediately, something inside of us says, God, help me.
And that's because God is such an awesome God.
We can be a drug addict.
We can be a thief.
We can be whatever.
But when we cry out, God put that emergency call in every one of us because he loves us so much.
He doesn't love us when we become Christians.
He loves us way, there's nothing we can do to make him not love us.
And he puts that in every one of us to say, God, help me.
And he'll say to the angels, stop creating universes.
One of my children is calling on me.
And guys, I can look at from that moment, God setting the journey up for me to get saved.
I got back to the States.
I found out that I'd been for almost two years selling to an undercover narcotics agent that there were seven federal warrants out for my arrest.
And I know beyond a shadow of a doubt, when I said, God, help me, God heard that prayer.
He didn't say, all right, I'll help you if you stop being violent.
I'll help you if you stop doing drugs.
I'll help you.
No, he began the journey to lead me to receiving Jesus as my Savior.
Wow.
Amen.
Wow.
Chapter seven of your book is called We Got Born Again.
So tell us about how you became filled with the Holy Spirit and this now part of your journey and how you knew it to be real.
Yeah.
Well, you know, I got back to the States and we were smuggling drugs, smuggling cocaine into the States.
I got back to the States and I found out that I'd been selling to an undercover agent, to a narcotics agent.
And I found out that there were seven federal warrants, Ricky, for my arrest.
And I know that's, you know, in ancient Hebrew, there's no word for coincidence.
And, you know, I didn't know it then, but when you look at, I had seven federal warrants out for my arrest.
Jesus shed his blood seven times to redeem us to God.
I know that's not a coincidence.
And so I had met a shipment of drugs and came back.
I was living in the Cape Gorado, Missouri area where I'd gone to college.
And I got back to one of our houses and our house had been totally ransacked.
So I thought somebody broke in looking for drugs to rob me, but nothing was missing.
And so we went to another one of our houses and that place had been totally ransacked.
And so I said, man, what's going on?
So I called some friends and found out some of my drug dealing friends have been arrested.
And so the police had done a canvas raid on drug dealers.
We were between our college and Illinois across the river.
They arrested 48 drug dealers.
And a friend of mine's dad was a bail bondsman.
And he told him, he said, tell Larry, he's number two on the list.
They're still looking for him.
And so we realized, man, we've got to get out of town.
And I love telling people that I thought I was running from the long arms of the law, but what I was really doing was running right into the strong arms of the Lord.
And so, you know, these two friends of mine, these two girls, both of them became pastor's wives.
We got in their Volchwagen van, good hippie van, and we said, we got to get out of town.
And so I had, you know, and this is crazy.
I know this sounds crazy, but I had just read a book that was called, if I can remember, called Black Elk Speaks.
And it's about the mountains in Arizona and finding God in the mountains of Arizona.
So I said, if we're going to go, let's just go to Arizona.
But here's the bizarre part.
I knew nothing about the Lord, knew nothing about church, nothing about God.
Donna didn't know anything about God.
And this other friend of ours, she had been born and raised in church.
She was a backslider and a spirit-filled backslider, guys.
And so on the way out, we found out that a friend of ours had just gotten a new shipment of this certain really powerful hallucinogenic drug.
And so I said, well, let's stop there and get some to take with us.
And so we stopped and we ended up doing drugs there at his house.
And, you know, my nickname in those days was OD, overdose.
If somebody took one hit, I took three or four.
And so when we were leaving two days later, the one girl who had been raised in church, she said, what in the world were you seeing?
And they said, for almost two days, I was underneath the kitchen table hallucinating and holding on to the legs of the table.
And they said, I kept screaming, God, don't leave me here.
Please, God, don't leave me here.
And she said, what were you, what was going on?
And like I said, I didn't know anything about God, anything about church, heaven, hell.
I didn't know anything.
And I said, it was so bizarre because I was standing on a hill and I could see out of the corner of my eye God standing next to me.
And we're both, we didn't turn and look at each other, but I could see him out of the corner of my eye and we were looking at me.
And there was a vast, blank, burning desert.
And in the middle of that was me locked in a black box of space.
It wasn't even real.
It's just a black cubicle of space.
And I'm watching me crying, God, don't leave me here.
Please, God, don't leave me here.
And I say to God next to me, why don't you help him?
And I said, and God said to me, I've always wanted to, but it's too late.
He's lost forever.
And I can't hear his voice.
And I said, isn't that bizarre?
And of course, it freaked her out because she understood.
She understood eternity.
She understood these things.
And so we got out to Arizona, guys.
And, you know, immediately, you know, we had brought drugs with us.
I was going to set up dealing drugs there.
And so one day we had a little home and it was in the red light district.
It was in the drug area.
It's where the bars were and everything.
And I'm sitting on my porch.
And, you know, I've got long hair and earrings and everything.
And I'm sitting on my porch and I'm smoking a joint right out in the open.
And across the street, I see this young Mexican guy walk by.
His name was Bill Trujillo.
And he walks past me and he looks at me and he just keeps going.
And then he gets down to the corner and he turns around and walks past me again.
And he does this three, four, five times.
And I'm thinking, well, he's trying to get, he's trying to get encouraged to come over and see if I have any drugs for sale.
And I watch him get down to the corner.
He's done this three, four, five times.
He gets down the corner and I see him take a deep breath and he just turns around and he walks straight at me.
And I'm thinking, well, you know, he's going to see if I got anything for sale.
And he walks up to me and he says, I've never done this before, but I couldn't leave until I told you Jesus is who you're looking for.
And I said, what?
And, You know, thank God for his boldness.
He had been, guys, he had been a drug addict five days earlier.
And the church, the little church that he eventually took me to, and I gave my life to the Lord, they would go down into this area where everybody's partying.
All the college kids were partying, and everybody, and they'd go down every Friday and Saturday night and street witness.
And Bill had been a drug addict and really low end.
You know, when you're, and Mondo, you probably know this, Ricky.
I don't know if you know this, but when you're addicted and you can't get drugs, it's not uncommon to take spray paint and spray it in a rag and sniff the fumes.
And so Bill had been a drug addict.
They pulled him in the back of a van and led him to the Lord.
And so that was five days, five days before he talked to me.
So he walks up and he says, I've never done this before, but I couldn't leave until I told you Jesus is who you're looking for.
And I kept saying, well, what about this?
And what about this?
And what about this?
And he kept saying, I don't know.
I don't know the answer to any of that.
All I know is Jesus changed my life.
And so, you know, I kind of liked him.
And he ended up living right next door to us with his mom.
And he'd come over a couple times a day.
And, you know, we'd see him coming.
And, you know, we had these long drapes.
It was an old, old house.
It had these long drapes from the ceiling to the floor.
And we'd hide behind the drapes.
We didn't have any furniture.
We'd hide behind the drapes.
And he'd knock on the door.
And we'd go, it's Bill.
He's going to talk to us about Jesus.
And he'd say, I know you're in there.
I saw you.
I'm not leaving until you open the door.
And he'd come in.
And, you know, I'd smoke dope in front of him.
I'd take a pound of dope and separate the stems from the seeds in front of him.
And he just kept telling us how much Jesus loved us.
And, you know, I out-argued him.
But my pastor told me something when I was a brand new convert.
He said, somebody with a philosophy doesn't have a chance against somebody with an experience.
And so the long of the short of that is, is that he just wouldn't stop.
He wouldn't stop.
And so he finally came and told us they're having a movie at the church by Johnny Cash and Chris Christopherson.
It was called The Gospel Road.
And Johnny Cash sang and narrated the life of Jesus.
And I said, all right, I'll go with you because I like Johnny Cash.
I like Chris Christopherson.
And I said, I'll go with you.
If I go with you, you got to promise to quit talking to me about this Jesus stuff.
So I went with him.
Donna and I went with him to the movie.
And like I said, I didn't know anything about the Bible.
You know, let me back up, guys.
When I was probably three or four, my mom took us to church a couple times.
And my dad eventually said, no, I don't want them going to church.
And so it stopped.
So, you know, I didn't have any background in that.
But right before I found out that there were warrants out for my arrest back in Cape Dorado, Missouri, I had three guys there, and we were doing a major drug deal.
And I couldn't sleep.
I was wired up on drugs.
And remember the days when television went off like midnight or one o'clock and there was only three channels.
And so I got up and I was smoking dope and turned on the television.
There was only one channel there and it was a preacher.
And I don't know, it could have been Billy Graham or Joe Blow.
I don't know who it was, but this preacher said, Is, you know what?
You're sick and tired.
You're sick and tired.
God's got an answer for you.
He's got peace for you.
And I was sick and tired, you know.
And he said, why don't you just pray with me?
And so there on television, I prayed a prayer.
You know, I didn't know what to do with it after that.
I don't even remember what the prayer was.
But the next day, I opened my mail, and my aunt Helen, who never gave up, knew I was a drug addict, knew I was extremely violent, knew I was dealing drugs, but was a strong, strong Christian.
She never gave up.
And I opened the next, that morning, I opened and she sent me a package and she said, Larry, I really feel it's your time to give your life to Jesus.
Here's your Bible from a child.
I've been saving it for you.
And it was a couple of days later that we got out of town.
And so here I am in church.
And guys, I don't know if you've ever seen the movie.
It's a corny little movie.
But at the end of it, it showed Jesus.
This is what really got me.
Because I never thought, you know, if there is a God, he wouldn't have anything to do with somebody like me.
Because I tell a lot of the stories to relate to people in the book, but there's things that nobody knows.
Altar Call 00:13:32
And so it shows Jesus at the end with the music and very dramatically dying on the cross at Calvary.
But then it shows Jesus dying again on the cross, same music, same dramatics.
But then boom, it pulls back and he died on the cross in Times Square around homeless and around prostitutes and around drug addicts.
And then it showed him dying on the cross.
This time it's in the streets of East LA with the gangbangers and the drug dealers and et cetera.
And somehow, miraculously, I knew it included me.
Now, the pastor gave an altar call at the end, and it was a little church, about 40, 50 people, and had people raise their hand.
And I didn't do it, but man, I didn't understand it, but I could feel that whoever this Jesus was, he's real.
And then the pastor just kept long because I knew he felt that God was touching me.
And he just kept pulling that altar call.
And there's no way I was going to raise my hand.
And guys, then he had everybody stand or whatever.
I can't remember, but come to the altar.
And to this day, before Almighty God, nobody came to say anything to me.
Nobody came to talk to me.
I don't remember getting up out of my seat, but all of a sudden I realized I'm at the altar kneeling.
I don't remember before God, it was like God just lifted me and brought me there.
And I look, I'm realizing I'm at the altar and Donna, one of the girls, is kneeling next to me.
But everybody in that church, and I tell my church this all the time.
I tell them all the time.
I tell myself all the time.
Nobody in that church, there was like, you know, I don't know, six, seven, eight, nine, ten people getting saved, and everybody's praying for these people.
Nobody came to Don and I. You know, I didn't have a shirt on.
I had just a poncho, earrings in, rings on every finger, no shoes on, long hair.
And I tell people, thank God, when man looks on the outside, God looks on in the inside.
And so they told me later, and that became my church.
They told me later they looked at me and said, I mean, I still, obviously, needle marks up and down my arms, obviously a drug addict.
And they said, we looked at you and said, somebody like him will never make it.
And I say, I tell my church, I just told my church this last Sunday, when God deals with you to speak to somebody, don't look at the length of their hair, the color of their hair.
Don't look at what they're wearing.
Just respond because you don't know what God's doing at that moment in that person, whether it's in the church or at school or at work or on the streets.
And so when I was kneeling there, guys, nobody prayed.
I didn't know anything about a prayer of salvation.
So I just said, God, if you're real, be real to me.
And it felt like, and I, you know, like I said, I've never even heard of being born again or being saved.
But when I prayed that, it felt like a million pounds lifted off of my heart.
And I just began, and I'm from the streets.
Remember when my dad would try to give me away?
I said, nobody will ever make me cry again.
And I just broke and was just weeping.
And I didn't even, I had no idea what had just happened.
But I look, I know, I knew later that maybe my earthly father didn't want me, but my heavenly father wants every one of us.
He loves us so much.
He sent Jesus out.
And I didn't understand that.
And the pastor came up who was just a couple of years older than me and put his hand on me.
And he said, son, God really touched you, didn't he?
And I pushed his hand away.
And I said, well, somebody did.
And then everybody went back to their seat.
I can't remember exactly.
And this is so important that nobody came up and said hi to us.
Nobody welcomed us.
The next day, guys, some Baha'i people came and knocked on our door.
And instead of being in church the next Sunday, we were at a Baha'i meeting.
And we went to this Baha'i meeting at somebody's home.
And we walked out.
And Donna said to me, she said, well, what did you think?
And I said, well, I said, you know, these people, these Baha'is were a lot more friendly than the Christians were.
But I said, you know, I didn't feel in there what I felt when we watched that movie on Jesus.
And so a couple days later, after Donna and I prayed, well, maybe I'll tell this story.
We didn't know anything about being Christians, but we got in the car after Donna and I prayed and we got in the car and we go, what in the world was that?
And we go, man, I feel so good.
And so the other girl that, and she became a pastor's wife, but the other girl who was living with us, she was a nurse and she was actually a private nurse.
She got a job, private nurse, working for this guy who had brain cancer.
And so we went to pick her up like at midnight.
And we felt so good.
Now, I know this makes Christians angry for me to say it.
We felt so good about being born again that we bought a really good bag of dope and a bottle of whiskey to celebrate being born again.
And so this other girl, Gail, she's raised in church.
And so we pick her up and we're smoking dope and we're drinking.
And I go, you won't believe what happened to us tonight.
And she said, what?
And I said, we got born again.
And she goes, what?
I said, yeah, we got born again tonight.
Our sins are forgiven.
She goes, what are you smoking?
I said, oh, I went and saw Mike and I got, man, he had some good stuff.
She goes, you're not born again.
I said, no, no, we are.
Listen, Jesus, I'm not sure if he's God or God's son every time, but Jesus is the Savior.
And he died for our sins.
And seven days later, he rose again.
And we accepted that and we are born again.
She goes, you're not born again.
And we go, no, no, we are.
That's how ignorant we were.
A day or two later, Gail got a note from her parents, her Christian parents.
And her mom said, Gail, I was in church today praying, and God spoke to me that something has happened to Larry.
And this is an open door for you to come back to the Lord.
And so Gail gave her life to the Lord right at home there.
She knew how to do it.
And they kept going back to church, guys.
They went back to church, but I wouldn't go because I didn't feel like these people would want somebody like me there.
And so they'd come home and I'd say, they said, oh, you should have come to church.
I said, did you say hallelujah?
Did you say thank you, Jesus?
You know, mocking him.
You know, Tiz and I pastored amongst the Navajos for a lot of years.
And there's a saying amongst the Navajos is whenever you make fun of someone, you're going to be the next one doing it.
So I'm here to say hallelujah and thank you, Jesus, because he saved somebody like me.
And I tell everybody, come into the Lord, guys.
It's not go get cleaned up and then I'll take you.
It's a come as you are party.
And Jesus will clean you up.
Just come to him.
Amen.
Friends, I want you to go and get this book.
This is from Charisma House, A Journey of Destiny, Mondo, from Junkie to Jerusalem.
A powerful book.
Friends, call that number.
It's 1-888-988-1588.
That's our Charisma Media affiliate.
Or you can go to JimBakershow.com and find that Charisma Media affiliate.
Scan that QR code on the screen.
Mondo, how incredible is this journey?
And what is even better to me is it lets people know who feel like they have gone too far.
There is hope for everybody.
An incredible story.
Pastor, we're just a few minutes left in our broadcast.
And over 40 years of experience in ministry, what can you say to someone who's watching right now who feel like they are too far gone to be saved?
They've done too much.
They've seen too much.
They've said too much.
They've cursed God with their mouth and they feel like they've hardened their heart.
But something's speaking to them right now.
And they're saying, you know what?
Maybe there is something about this Jesus that can change my life.
What would you speak to them right now, Pastor?
Well, one is, and I get this asked a lot of times, Ricky, is what do I do from here?
Number one is ask Jesus in your heart.
And like I said, you come to him as you are.
The second thing is, you know, and I talk a lot about this.
You know, I tell a story of I lived in Escobar's village.
I met with him when he was first starting the drug cartel.
And that same day, I almost killed a guy.
I was getting ready to kill a guy.
And I realized, my goodness, what is wrong with me?
So I talk about breaking family curses.
It may be a curse of anger.
It may be a curse of whatever, poverty.
It may be a curse of addiction.
And I wrote a book, guys, years ago called Free at Last on breaking family curses.
So number one, give your life to Jesus.
Number two, realize Jesus came not just to forgive us, but to break every curse.
Cursed is he who hung on a tree.
He'll take the curse off of you and your family.
Number three, get involved with a church that's teaching the word of God and challenging you.
If I'd have just come in and sat in a pew, I wouldn't have made it.
But they challenged us.
I was saved just a few days, and they said, Hey, Larry, before church, why don't you come with us to the jail?
I'm just saved a few days.
And so I went to the jail with them, and we went there and with two other guys.
And they said, Here's a drunk tank, here's a drunk tank, and here's the dangerous guys that are being shipped to prison.
These guys went to the drunk tank.
I stood just a week old, two weeks old in the Lord, and told 27 inmates about what Jesus had done for me.
And 27, I was standing there, Ricky, and the guy said, If anything happens, push this button.
And I go, and he goes, we'll get to as soon as we can.
Share with people.
That's the way you stay strong.
Share with other people your story.
And then be involved with ministries that are changing the world.
And whenever you guys are ready, I'd love to pray with people and lead them into the prayers that I know will change their life.
I'd like for you to do that right now, Pastor.
I think it's important.
Somebody's watching right now.
The Holy Spirit's tugging at their heart and they're about to give their life to the Lord, the best decision they'll ever make in their entire life.
So go ahead, Pastor.
Take it away.
And you that are watching, you just say this after me.
Say, Father, I come to you right now in the name of Jesus.
I know I've sinned.
We've all sinned.
But I know this.
You love me so much.
You sent Jesus to pay the price in full for all my sin.
Right now, I receive Jesus Christ as my Lord and my Savior.
Now, I always say this: say this out loud.
Say it like with the authority.
Satan, get out of my life.
Get out of my mind.
Get out of my spirit.
Get out of my body.
Get out of my home, my family, my future, my finances.
And I declare through the name and the blood of Jesus, every curse is reversed and every blessing is received.
Not someday, but today.
In Jesus' name, amen and amen.
Amen.
What a powerful prayer.
Friends, you haven't done too much.
You haven't gone too far.
What an incredible journey this has been, Mondo, from Junkie to Jerusalem.
I love that.
Now, Pastor, give us an update of what it is that you're doing in your ministry right now, how people can support you, watch your broadcast, and keep up with everything that you're doing, not just here in the United States, but globally as well.
Supporting Israel's Blessing 00:08:10
You know, Ricky, you know, the Bible says in Genesis 12:3, I will bless those who bless Israel.
There's a teaching in Judaism that's called the Evos or the Evot, which means the Father.
If you have the Ten Commandments, none of those commandments work unless you have the first one, the Evolt, the Father.
When you have the first one, it bursts the blessing of everything that follows.
Put on the armor of God.
That's the Evos.
The first one is the Evos.
The first blessing in the Bible with promise is Genesis 12, 3.
I will bless those who bless Israel.
We are seeing worldwide the prophecies concerning Israel rapidly coming to pass.
And one of the great prophecies amongst Jews and Christians is the wall between, Ephesians, the wall between Jews and Gentiles will come down.
And so I will be actually leaving for Israel.
I don't know when this is airing, but from here, from when we're talking today, in a couple of weeks, I'll be going to France.
I'll be partnering with the nation of Israel, talking to the Jewish community about the rise of anti-Semitism.
And then our ministry, guys, have leased a plane that will bring Olim immigrants, a whole plane of immigrants from France to make Aliyah to move to Israel.
And the fulfillment of Bible prophecy is that Israel people will, the Jews will come back to the land of Israel and that Gentiles, you and I, will bring them, will carry them in on our shoulders and carry them in on our arms.
And so we have been supporting Israel and doing things in Israel for 32 years now.
That's why I get to meet with Prime Minister Net Yahoo.
I'll be with President Herzog again.
And we sponsor Holocaust survivors.
We've built dozens and dozens and dozens of bomb shelters.
We've bought 14 of these mobile, they look like an ambulance, but they're mobile ICU units.
14 for Moganda Vita Dome, which is like the Red Cross, four for the military.
By the grace of God, the last several weeks, including just yesterday, they go in to pick up the hostages, and it's been our ambulance, Larry Huck Ministries, New Beginnings, our ambulance that are picking up these hostages coming out of Gaza.
And so, you know, there's a saying in Judaism, it's at Yad Vashem also: when you save one life, God sees it as if you saved the whole world.
And so when you partner with us, every penny we give to Israel goes to that project.
Nothing gets set aside by another organization.
And so you're literally helping us save lives in Israel.
And it's a wonderful thing to do.
Amen.
Incredible.
You know, we believe in that Genesis promise that says, if you bless Israel, you'll be blessed.
And if you curse Israel, you'll be cursed.
Friends, we want you to be a part of that blessing.
Support a ministry like Pastor Larry Huck's ministry because it's important, Mondo.
People might not be able to go to Israel themselves.
They might not be able to build these things by themselves, support, you know, build the bomb shelters, provide the ambulances.
But what they can do is support a ministry who is already doing it, doing it well with financial transparency as well.
Israel is so important to God, and it should be important to every single believer that is here in this program today.
Don't lose hope on what's happening.
God is sending people like Larry Huck and his ministry.
And listen, this is why we partner today so we can keep going forward.
Don't give up.
I know it looks very eerie and it looks very impossible, but for God, nothing is impossible.
I believe that today's message is not only going to encourage you, but it's going to inspire you to get involved.
Do something.
Sow a seed.
Pray.
Do whatever you can in order to get involved.
Don't just watch on the sidelines.
Get involved.
Be a doer of the word.
Don't just be a sayer.
Listen, those days are over.
We are living in a time right now that God wants to use you.
Will you let Him do that today?
Prayer about supporting Pastor Larry Hook, his ministry.
And listen, stand with our ministry as we continue to preach the gospel around the world by bringing people like Larry Hook and his ministry to talk about the power of transformation in his life.
Do it today.
Don't give up.
Amen.
Your support is how we continue to broadcast the gospel of Jesus Christ around the world, as well as provide interviews with people like Pastor Larry Hook to talk about their amazing transformational journeys with Jesus Christ.

Friends, that's what it's all about.
We love supporting other Christian businesses, friends.
I've said this many times on this broadcast and I'll continue to say it.
Go out of your way to support Christian businesses, friends.
It's very clear in the New Testament we are to be good to everyone, but especially those of the household of faith.
If you have a friend who's opened up a Christian business, continue to support them.
Continue to pour into their lives.
And really, what they're doing is their ministry if they're telling people about Jesus.
So continue to do that.
One of the people here in this local area I want to talk about, I think it's important.
They didn't ask me to do this, but I want to do this for them.
They provided us with some beautiful flowers.
It's called Bloom and Buns.
We'll put it up on the screen.
It's a local business here.
Beautiful.
It's very beautiful.
But, friends, it's a Christian business.
She's telling people about Jesus and she's going out and she's ensuring people know that Jesus is the only way to heaven.
Hey, I'm going to take these and give them to my wife afterwards.
Don't tell her she's watching mine.
Friends, it's a local business supporting what we're doing here at the PTL Television Network.
I want to say thank you to them, but also thank you to you, our monthly partners, who allow us to every single day be broadcast around the United States of America and globally through our streaming platform, the PTL Television Network.
Thank you for supporting the cause of the gospel, getting to every single person, because the gospel truly is for whosoever will, friends.
We love you and remember, God loves you.
He really does.
Bye-bye for today.
God bless you.
