Praying Under the Anointing 00:07:58
James, you once said that anything in your life that you haven't purposely and intentionally put under the anointing, you have failed.
Can you explain that to me?
Well, you know, scripturally, the Holy Ghost and the anointing are synonymous terms.
In other words, if the Holy Ghost comes on you or is in you, there is an anointing there.
And I have found that anything that I haven't submitted to the Spirit of God in and on me.
Then I then the only other alternative is that I had to do it on my own.
Because what's the you either do it by the Spirit or by you.
Right.
And by me, it's always going to be a whole lot more sweat and a whole lot more toil.
And I don't know if I'll ever get there.
But if I can put it under the Holy Ghost, I say, Lord, I'm inviting you.
I think I know this, but tell me what I don't know anyway.
And then I usually find out how much I don't know.
Exactly.
Right.
And so the Holy Spirit is everything.
In fact, we were talking about doing the break just now, how you asked if you were an apocalyptic preacher.
Well, apocalypse simply means a revealing.
Amen.
And if preachers aren't revealing, then what are they doing?
I do reveal.
I reveal what God says for me.
So all preaching and all teaching ought to, at some level, in some way, on some topic, reveal something.
Amen.
Even if it is just reminding people because again, that's what and and again revealing is an aspect of the Holy Spirit Amen.
Reminding is an aspect.
Jesus said this, John 14, 15, 16, that the Holy Spirit reveals.
He brings the light.
He shows you.
He leads you.
He guides you.
He reminds you.
I like talking about the Holy Spirit.
You can probably tell.
Amen.
Do you ever get discouraged?
You're the most up person I've ever met in my life.
And, you know, there's times in my life that I've gone through, you know, some downtime.
And I'm older, and I just don't have the energy like you do.
And I just wonder, have you ever been discouraged?
I mean, really?
Going through a very valley in your life?
Yes, there have been many a valley in my life.
How did you get out there?
That I was convinced I would never crawl my way out of, you know.
But here's the truth.
In those places is where you learn that you can depend on the ever-present comforter.
The fact that Jesus called the Holy Spirit a comforter implies that there would be some situations in life that we need comforting.
So the fact that the Holy Spirit is called the helper, again, implies that there are situations in our life that we will need helping.
Now, Pastor Paul was thinking about talking to God just now.
Can I tell you that the best way to talk to God is to pray in the Holy Ghost?
Amen.
It's the only way.
Really the only way.
Especially when you're talking about being discouraged.
Because when you're in a place where you're discouraged and you're down and all you see is the storm and the waves around you, if you pray out of your knower, if you pray out of your mind, that's all you're going to pray.
Lord, look at how big this storm is.
Look at how dark this night is.
Look at how strong these winds are.
From your flesh.
From your flesh and from your soul and from your sense.
But if you can tap in and pray in the Spirit of God and pray in the Holy Ghost from the inside out as opposed to the outside in, you tap into a flow of the spirit where you are praying perfect prayers because that's what the Holy Spirit.
One of the things that the Holy Spirit helps us do is pray.
One of the things the Holy Ghost helps us do is pray.
And so in praying, and I've had situations.
In fact, I remember one time I was so down and so beat up, I sent Pat Harrison, and you've had Pat Harrison on the host on the show the last time I was here.
I sent her a text and I said, Mom, I don't know that I even have the strength to get out of bed.
I don't know that I had the strength to get out.
I feel like I died and didn't know it.
And she texted me right back and she said, James, but it's at that point that the Holy Ghost orchestrates others to pray for you that you don't know about.
Amen.
Well, we need one.
We got to bear you one another's burden.
That's right.
Do you know what the Holy Spirit just said to me as you said that?
Yes, sir.
Millions of people have felt just like that.
Millions.
And for you to say that will help set them free because they think they're the only one who feels like they've died.
They feel like they want to die.
That's why Jesus said he wouldn't leave us as orphans.
That he would give us another helper.
We basically have two intercessors.
Jesus is our high priest and intercessor.
But then the Holy Ghost, Romans 8, tells us that the Holy Spirit among us and through us makes intercession for us.
There is a sound of intercession.
Ooh, I said the spirit.
There is a sound of intercession in the spirit realm that's bubbling over, waiting to pour forth.
The times that we live in, can I say it this way, Pastor Paul?
The times that we live in require more than the Lord bless me prayers.
Oh, yes.
We have to have a special revelation, unction of the Spirit.
Matter of fact, we got to pray with groanings that we don't even know.
We can't even utter it.
That's why praying in the Holy Ghost.
We've got to go back to that.
That's what it is.
We've got to go back to allowing the Spirit of God to lead our prayer time.
Yes, you keep pounding on that, that the American church needs to get back to the Holy Ghost, the Holy Spirit moving powerfully in the world.
We were talking about this at the break, Pastor Paul and I.
And we're just having a conversation.
Is that okay with everyone that we have a conversation that way?
Absolutely.
But Pastor Paul and I were talking about this at the break, and it seems like some things you have to catch.
That's right.
You have to be in the room.
Catch that.
Prayer is one of those things.
In other words, it's hard to learn to swim just by reading a book.
You've got to get in the water.
Water, maybe.
That's why all of you that do know how to pray, you've got to get back to praying.
Amen.
Because when you get back to praying, what you're actually creating is that you're creating an environment where other people can come in and by the Holy Ghost learn how to pray.
Can you live in the anointing when it's not like I don't have to pray for the sick or something?
I mean, you just feel like the anointing can lift you up.
Do I understand what I'm saying?
Because that's what the anointing does.
The anointing lifts you from where you are and puts you from a divine perspective.
The anointing then is the ability and the unction of the Holy Spirit.
So how could you have the ability of the Holy Spirit on you, that anointing on you, but then not recognize that that's where you're coming from?
So the anointing lifts you up, puts you in your heavenly seat, sits you with, allows you to see yourself seated in heavenly places in Christ Jesus, and from that position, see all this that's happening right here that's happening on the earth.
So God can anoint you to be lifted up from depression.
Oh, yes.
I firmly, in fact, Jesus over there in Luke 4, one of the things when he announced that the Spirit of the Lord is upon me, one of the things that he said that I have come to heal the brokenhearted.
Yes, amen.
And there's so many broken hearts.
This was something I learned the hard way.
This is something I learned, because I think that in the church, we don't have a problem talking about our spirits needing help.
We don't have a problem talking about our physical bodies needing help.
But when it comes to the soul and your souls, your will, your emotions, your mind, your attitudes, your imaginations.
When it comes to the soul, we're kind of like, no, just get over it, walk by faith.
You know, I mean, tough enough.
Yeah, get tough.
You know?
But we have to understand that the anointing is available to break yokes of bondage in every part of us.
In other words, why would God want to save our spirit and save our body, but then leave our soul to just fend for itself?
The anointing is available.
Amen.
And I learned this the hard way.
In my valleys, in my downtimes, I've learned to rely on and allow for that anointing, that healing bomb of the anointing.
God's Anointing Preach 00:00:27
I sense that even now.
A bomb of Gilead.
I sense that even now.
And we've restricted the bomb of Gilead to what we think it can do without realizing that the bomb of Gilead was everything, everything.
Amen.
I want to hear him preach, too.
He's a preacher.
I know he is.
I know he is.
That's how God breaks yokes, is by the anointing.
Nothing else.
