Russia's Anti-Semitic Stance
00:01:34
|
|
| Dr. Brown, you've written extensively on anti-Semitism. | |
| When Israel expressed support for Ukraine, Russia condemned the occupation of the Golan Heights. | |
| Why is Russia taking this anti-Semitic stance against Israel? | |
| So Russia's become a major player in the Middle East, and Russia really controls the Syrian airwaves. | |
| And Israel right now has to play a very fine game between Russia and Ukraine because there's so many Jews still in Russia and still in Ukraine. | |
| That's why Israel's tried to be a peacemaker here. | |
| But as Israel shows support for Ukraine or speaks up on behalf of Ukraine, then Russia is going to say, well, you're invaders. | |
| You're invaders too. | |
| You invaded the Golan Heights. | |
| You're accusing us of invading Ukraine. | |
| You invaded the Golan Heights and you're occupiers too. | |
| So if you're going to speak against us, we're going to speak against you. | |
| The bottom line is that ultimately, Vladimir Putin is not a friend of Israel. | |
| Prime Minister Bennett met with him trying to work out a peaceful solution to end the war between Russia and Ukraine. | |
| But Russia is a major player now. | |
| And to the extent that Russia and Iran are co-workers and have an allegiance, that is very, very bad news for the region and leads to a lot of the disruption of the region, a lot of the civil war in Syria. | |
| Russia helped fuel some of this. | |
| Iran helped fuel some of this. | |
| So Israel is stuck between a rock and a hard place, as is constantly the case. | |
