God's Call to Action

|
| I don't know if it was impromptu or oh. | |
| Yeah, it was off the cuff. | |
| I loved it. | |
| Yeah, I kind of thought that would. | |
| There's a story behind that. | |
| Let me tell you. | |
| Okay, let's roll it and then we'll talk about it. | |
| God gave us grace on November 8th 2016 to change the course we were on. | |
| God had been taken out of our schools and lives. | |
| A nation had turned its back on God, and I encourage you to use this time at home to get to home, to get back in the word, read our Bibles and spend time with our families. | |
| Our president gave us so much hope where, just a few short months ago, we had the best economy, the lowest unemployment and wages going up. | |
| It was amazing. | |
| With our great president, vice president and this administration and all the great people in this country praying daily, we will get through this and get back to a place that's stronger and safer than ever. | |
| All right, Mike Wendell. | |
| What's the story behind that moment? | |
| Well, the? | |
| Uh, it's interesting. | |
| It was the, the week before I had uh, I had actually just laid. | |
| It was about a week and a half before that I had laid off a bunch of my pillow employees. | |
| Right, you know, this is right. | |
| During we started making masks for the pandemic and, and uh, and I had a dream and I said I told my son, hire everybody back. | |
| We're, our business is going to go up five-fold. | |
| And uh, you know, and that thursday I was signing books and I got a thing for the White House that says it said we um um, you have to uh, you're invited to this uh, roundtable event. | |
| And it said uh, you're gonna. | |
| And then I said yeah, tell them i'll come. | |
| Well, then she said well, you have to have approved remarks. | |
| I said i've been to one of them roundtables. | |
| They don't, you don't, you can just say what you want, you know, and uh, so I said, just write whatever you want. | |
| So they're writing down, you know, these remarks it was supposed to be what you're doing for the pandemic. | |
| Well anyway, that following monday, I fly out to New York, I mean to Washington Dc, and I land at Dulles Airport and I had this thing come over me. | |
| I actually took a little video. | |
| Something was going to happen that would kind of change the course of history, or it was something big was going to happen. | |
| I didn't know i'd be a part of it, but I took a video. | |
| I said I got this feeling and anyway, we get in the White House and there's a roundtable there and there's the vice president, there's three other companies and each one tells about what they're doing for the pandemic. | |
| And you had this huge company going. | |
| We're going to have a hundred thousand dollars. | |
| I'm going whoop-de-doo and uh, you know, going around this room, and uh, we go around the room and they said yeah, we converted 75 percent of our company to make them make these masks, which we didn't know anything about. | |
| We just had the material and stuff. | |
| And yeah, and anyway, we get done with the roundtable. | |
| And the vice president I go to, the president had come in and we kind of went around again and I said hey, we didn't read our these remarks. | |
| And he goes, oh no you, they're doing press conferences outside in the Rose Garden. | |
| He might, you might, be called up on stage. | |
| So i'm going, i'm going. | |
| Uh okay I? | |
| I hadn't been watching tv so I didn't know that they were doing these press conferences, right? | |
| Well, and I, because I had crumbled up in my pocket, I hadn't even read these Remarks, right? | |
| And so, anyway, the president goes, Mike, have you ever been in the Oval Office? | |
| I said, No, we all get invited in there, and there's a couches sitting there, and the three of the CEOs sit down there, and the tears are facing the Oval Office, the desk. | |
| And this lady sits down beside me, and she goes, and she looks, and I look at her, and the vice president, president, are looking at a speech. | |
| And I look at her and she said, I said, Who are you? | |
| And she says, I'm Dr. Burke, right? | |
| Well, I had never seen her. | |
| I goes, and why are you here? | |
| And I didn't know. | |
| And I was just, and then I'm going, oh, you know, I thought maybe she was with these other CEOs. | |
| And so I was kind of embarrassing moment. | |
