Truth's Decline

|
| Alex, in your book, you say something that I believe is so powerful. | |
| You say, when truth dies, then so do ethics. | |
| What is happening to truth in our nation? | |
| Well, that's a great question. | |
| Thanks for asking it. | |
| Well, you know, the traditional view of truth that certainly America's founders believed and people, leaders up until the last, you know, 10 or 20 years believed, truth is what's real. | |
| Truth is what corresponds to reality. | |
| For instance, if I said, hey, we're doing this program right now on the North American continent of the Western Hemisphere, you know, we could check it out and we would say, wow, that's true. | |
| That's what they're doing. | |
| If I said, we're filming this show from, you know, Mars, that does not correspond to reality. | |
| That's not true. | |
| But what makes this period of history so dangerous and so urgent that we turn back to Christ is that we're living in a time where people believe they can make up their own truth. | |
| And so we've abandoned truth. | |
| Now, there's a reason that we've abandoned truth, and we can talk about that. | |
| But when you're not living on truth, and remember, Jesus said that he is the truth, John 14, 6. | |
| And when Jesus was before Pilate in John 18, 35, Pilate said, what is truth? | |
| Jesus said, I came into this world to bear witness of the truth. | |
| Everyone that is of the truth will hear my voice. | |
| So we've got millions of people that they reject God. | |
| They ignore the voice of Jesus. | |
| They're not living in truth. | |
| And it's grown to the point that, like I say, it threatens our very future because if we're not living in truth, conversely, we are living in that which is false. | |
