Jim Bakker Show - A Death of Truth - Alex McFarland on The Jim Bakker Show Aired: 2020-11-10 Duration: 01:57 === Truth's Decline (01:57) === [00:00:00] Alex, in your book, you say something that I believe is so powerful. [00:00:03] You say, when truth dies, then so do ethics. [00:00:07] What is happening to truth in our nation? [00:00:11] Well, that's a great question. [00:00:13] Thanks for asking it. [00:00:14] Well, you know, the traditional view of truth that certainly America's founders believed and people, leaders up until the last, you know, 10 or 20 years believed, truth is what's real. [00:00:28] Truth is what corresponds to reality. [00:00:31] For instance, if I said, hey, we're doing this program right now on the North American continent of the Western Hemisphere, you know, we could check it out and we would say, wow, that's true. [00:00:41] That's what they're doing. [00:00:43] If I said, we're filming this show from, you know, Mars, that does not correspond to reality. [00:00:51] That's not true. [00:00:52] But what makes this period of history so dangerous and so urgent that we turn back to Christ is that we're living in a time where people believe they can make up their own truth. [00:01:06] And so we've abandoned truth. [00:01:09] Now, there's a reason that we've abandoned truth, and we can talk about that. [00:01:13] But when you're not living on truth, and remember, Jesus said that he is the truth, John 14, 6. [00:01:21] And when Jesus was before Pilate in John 18, 35, Pilate said, what is truth? [00:01:28] Jesus said, I came into this world to bear witness of the truth. [00:01:33] Everyone that is of the truth will hear my voice. [00:01:36] So we've got millions of people that they reject God. [00:01:40] They ignore the voice of Jesus. [00:01:42] They're not living in truth. [00:01:44] And it's grown to the point that, like I say, it threatens our very future because if we're not living in truth, conversely, we are living in that which is false.
