Signs in the Sky
00:02:24
|
|
| And I want to tell you something. | |
| In Luke 21, he said, There shall be signs in the sun, the moon, and the stars, and upon the earth, the distress of the nation with perplexity, the sea, and the waves roaring. | |
| That's Luke 21, 25. | |
| Men's heart will fail in for fear, and look it after those things which are coming on the earth. | |
| For the powers of the heaven shall be shaken. | |
| This is Jesus. | |
| Now listen to him. | |
| And then shall they see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. | |
| And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, lift up your heads, for your redemption draws near. | |
| And he spake them a parable. | |
| He said, Behold, the fig tree and all the trees. | |
| He wasn't just talking about fig trees. | |
| He was just talking about trees in general. | |
| But there was a lot of fig trees around in Jesus' time. | |
| And when they now shoot forth leaves, you see and know of your own selves that summer is near at hand. | |
| They say nigh at hand, near at hand, is what that means. | |
| So likewise, you, when you see these things come to pass, know you that the kingdom of God is near at hand. | |
| Verily I say unto you, this generation shall not pass away till all be fulfilled. | |
| Hold on. | |
| We're putting it all on the screen because I want you to know the word. | |
| Amen. | |
| Amen. | |
| All right. | |
| Luke 21, verse 34. | |
| Are you listening to me? | |
| And take heed to yourself, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged or burdened with surfeiting. | |
| Not surfing, surfeiting. | |
| That means reveling, rioting. | |
| You drink and eat so much, you can't even think straight. | |
| You should stress so much you can't think straight. | |
| This is what I've studied this in the Greek. | |
| That's what it means in the Greek. | |
| And drunkenness and the cares of this world, distractions of this world. | |
| Is that where we are today? | |
| Yes. | |
| And so that day comes upon you unawares, unexpected, suddenly, unaware. | |
|
No Man Knows The Exact Hour
00:06:26
|
|
| And what is God saying his word? | |
| He doesn't want that day to come upon us unaware. | |
| That's what the Bible says. | |
| Go to Matthew 24. | |
| This is Jesus, the same setting, only Luke is talking about it, and now Matthew is talking about it. | |
| Now learn a parable of the frig tree. | |
| When his branch is yet tender and put it forth in each, you know that summer is nigh. | |
| Why does Jesus spend all this teaching telling you what will be the sign that he comes back? | |
| Why would he do this? | |
| Why would he tell you earthquakes, all the things, lack of food, all the signs, the love of many waxing cold? | |
| He tells everything in detail, first after verse after verse after verse. | |
| So likewise, when you see all these things, know that it is near, what's near, the coming of the Lord, even at the door. | |
| Let's quickly go on. | |
| Verse 36 of Matthew 20. | |
| But of that day and hour knoweth no man. | |
| Are you hearing me? | |
| But of the day and hour knoweth no man, know not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. | |
| So I look this up. | |
| What is Jesus saying? | |
| This is Jesus talking. | |
| He said, but you won't know the exact day or the exact hour. | |
| Are you listening to? | |
| But of the day and the hour. | |
| What does the day and the hour mean in the Greek? | |
| Any Greek scholars here? | |
| You know what day means in the Greek? | |
| Day. | |
| You know what hour means in the Greek? | |
| Hour. | |
| But all the word is saying, and Jesus is saying, no man knows the exact moment, the exact day or the exact hour. | |
| I've studied it and studied it and studied it, but we've taken one spot in the Bible. | |
| Come on. | |
| After Jesus has spent all this time. | |
| After the Revelation has spent all the whole book of Revelation, here's Jesus teaching. | |
| These are the signs of my coming. | |
| I want you to look. | |
| I don't want it to come upon you unaware. | |
| And then we get one scripture. | |
| No man will know the day and now. | |
| So what do we do? | |
| We do the American extremum. | |
| So we say, oh, nobody can know anything about it. | |
| That's a big excuse to be lazy and not study the word. | |
| And we're going to be left in the cold if we're not careful. | |
| We need to know what's going to happen. | |
| Then it goes on to say, but as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of Man be. | |
| So here he starts again, right after the next verse. | |
| Jesus goes on immediately saying it's going to be wickedness. | |
| There's going to be sin like never before until God can't look at it. | |
| And that's where we are right now. | |
| I mean, I have a headline today. | |
| Planned parenthood partners admit they're selling intact baby heads and brains from aborted babies. | |
| Wow. | |
| 60 million babies murdered in the United States of America. | |
| See, you just ignore God on that. | |
| God said, thou shalt not kill. | |
| But in the days and the hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my father only. | |
| But as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be when the coming of the Son of Man be. | |
| For in the days they were before the flood, they were eating and drinking and marrying, giving in marriage until the day that Noah entered into the ark. | |
| Verse 42, let's just jump down there. | |
| Watch, therefore, for you know not what hour your Lord doth come. | |
| He said, hour. | |
| There again, it means hour. | |
| You don't know. | |
| But you can know the times. | |
| He says, I want you to be looking. | |
| I want you to look and search. | |
| I want you to be like detectives. | |
| I want you to hear what I said. | |
| I want you to read my word. | |
| And that day shall not come up on you unaware. | |
| Surprisingly, you're not going to be suddenly surprised because you're going to know. | |
| Watch, he says. | |
| Oh, I got so much I'm going to teach you. | |
| Wow. | |
| I'm telling you, the world right now, God's judgment, the signs of the last days are going to be earthquakes. | |
| They're going to be storms. | |
| They're going to be tornadoes. | |
| There's going to be cyclones. | |
| There are all these things. | |
| Did you know cyclones are in the Bible? | |
| Whirlwinds are in the Bible? | |
| Did you know that? | |
| Wow. | |
| And the Bible says they're God's whirlwinds. | |
| Wow. | |
| They're God's storms. | |
| They're God's thunder. | |
| They're God's. | |
| God sends this round. | |
| But as God's judgments come, the sinners are not going to want to say, oh, that God sent judgment on our city. | |
| Oh, it's global warming. | |
| Do you know, many years ago, it was just as hot as it is right now. | |
| We've had ice times and we've had hot times. | |
| I'm not going to get into that. | |
| Maybe tomorrow. | |
| So what you're trying to say, we may not know the hour. | |
| We may not know the day, but we can. | |
| That means hour and day, Mondo. | |
| I'm trying, that's the problem. | |
| We don't have time enough to study. | |
| We get these whirlwind sermons that we just throw together and try to tickle everybody's fancy. | |
| But what does the Bible really say? | |
| God can't deny himself. | |
| He can't, you know, contradict himself. | |
| That's what's happening. | |
| We think God, because Jesus spent all this time teaching us what will be the sign of his return, and then because one time he said, no one knows the day or the hour, that means the Father's going to say, Now, | |
