Persecution in Nigeria 00:07:16
Darkness is advancing in the world.
We see that happening.
But we profess that the people in darkness will see a great light.
And we do believe that.
They also say that in Matthew 24, they will hand you over and you will be persecuted and you will be killed for my name.
And because of iniquity that abounds, the love of many will grow cold.
But he who endures to the end shall be saved, and the gospel will be preached throughout the world.
We believe this.
We know that if America, that was founded on strong Christian principles, will not stand for the persecuted Christians in the world, those who are suffering in such brutal, brutal violence towards them, if America won't stand for them, who will?
That's right.
And so our organization, working together with groups like Suzanne's and others, so many others, doing the great work of bringing aid to our brothers and sisters suffering in the world or reporting on their situation and helping us know.
We bring these groups together to raise that awareness among the people in the pews who are not hearing from our media or even our faith leaders about this horrible, horrible persecution existing.
You know, this is Didi, and thank you, Didi.
You're amazing what you just said.
I'm going to tell you, God has given us huge favor with some of the greatest guests anyone can ever get.
I've not heard one person in 15 years talk about the persecuted Christians throughout the world.
We have, unfortunately, but I wanted to see it, watched when ISIS with Coptic Christians in Egypt, when they sliced their heads off because they would not denounce Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior, saw a little girl that was headless, five years old,
with her little Easter dress on because her parents would not deny Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior.
What's really important, Lori, is that it's not over.
Because the violence in Syria and Iraq has lessened, people are putting that behind them and saying, well, that's over, we can move on now.
No, we have so many other hotspots for persecution happening in the world today.
China, Indonesia, Nigeria, the entire Lake Chad area in Africa.
In Nigeria, the faith leaders on the ground there are calling it pure genocide what is happening.
You have two of the most violent terrorist groups working in the area, Boko Haram, which you may remember the Bring Back Our Girls hashtag Bring Back Our Girls.
What, like the 200 girls?
Yes.
They kidnapped 200 girls.
Those 200 girls are only a small portion of the number of school children who have been kidnapped by Boko Haram and are still held by them.
More than a thousand children are held right now by Boko Haram.
6,000 people, Christians, have been murdered by Fulani militants in Nigeria this year alone.
Some 20 to 35,000 Christians have been killed there in just the last few years.
And Nigeria is an incredible hotspot.
There's 200 million people living in Nigeria.
It's the most populous country in Africa, and 22 million Anglicans live there.
It's the largest population of Anglicans in the world.
But Nigeria is on the precipice of complete, utter disaster and fragmentation.
So if that happens, the refugee crisis we've seen in the last three years will be like the appetizer and the entree is coming.
We will see a refugee crisis the likes of which the world is not prepared to to deal with.
And that's why it has to do with national security.
Parliament in Nigeria is now looking at implementing Sharia law.
So Frank is working on building an envoy from the president's office to go to Nigeria to address this very issue.
This is what savethepersecutedchristians.org is all about, legislating, building these envoys, going and speaking to these nations and dealing with this issue.
Because imagine if the parliament approves Sharia law in Nigeria, you're going to see millions.
I want you to hear about Leah Sharibou.
She's a 15-year-old girl who was kidnapped last February along with over 100 other classmates of hers.
In Nigeria.
In Nigeria, yeah.
And while they were returned, many of them were returned, several of them, like five of them, lost their lives, they refused to return Leah because she would not renounce Jesus.
She would not convert to Islam.
And so they've kept her.
At the end of August, they released a video of her and we came to find that Leah was still alive and the world celebrated.
Within a month, they returned a video of an assassination of an international Red Cross worker who they had kidnapped in March.
And they had killed her and said, if a ransom for Leah is not given in the next month, we're going to kill her too.
When that time passed, as we all were praying and fretting over Leah, they came back and said, you know what, we're just going to keep her as a slave for life because we can do that.
We're going to keep her as a slave for life.
And the reason that they keep her is because at 15, she will not renounce her love for Jesus.
What a witness.
That is, of course, the beautiful thing about this.
If there's anything that can be said to be beautiful about this persecution, whether it's in China, whether it's in Nigeria, whether it's in the Middle East, whether it's here, frankly, is it does affirm the faith.
And what we're trying to do is to make sure, and the power of this show, and why we're so privileged to be on it, is our hope is that those persecuted around the world will hear us, will hear our voices, will hear that we're coming to help.
When the World Sees Our Unity 00:00:29
And as important, that those who are doing the persecution of them will hear us as well.
Yes.
And you add to that, that's where Jesus said, when the world sees our unity, we're one body, that's when the world is going to believe that he is the Son of God.
Yes.
And we love one another.
Amen, Dominic.
