User Data Gold Rush 00:04:10
You had a question for Zach.
Zach, my question to you is, is user data the new oil?
Yes, it is.
So user data is the news.
So what in the world does that mean?
Let me break it down for you.
Data, what every single thing that you do on the internet, your cell phone, your computer, I'm talking about your cable box records the data of the shows you send.
Your Roomba, what vacuums your house, it is literally mapping out the floor plan of your home and selling the floor plan of your home to Amazon.
Your smart car, here's, I'm not going to mention the, I'm not going to mention the car company that said this, but I was at a conference in Las Vegas, and an executive from this top car company said this, that the cars that we are building now, because they're going to have an incredible amount of sensors all already around the vehicle, this person said this.
The data that we collect from you while you're driving this car, we will then sell that data and we will make more money off of selling your data than what you purchase the car for.
Yeah.
And now here's what's so crazy is that whenever I would be at these conferences, many of the guys that would be on stage that would talk about cyber security, I kid you not, they would, like whether I'd be in Europe, Asia, or in the States, they would all say the same thing.
And it was that none of our devices are secure.
They would say that.
But these billionaires are getting to be billionaires on information.
That's right.
Okay, so what about this, Zachary?
What do we do with our smartphones?
Because I know I'm getting so much information coming on my phone of things I never signed up for.
I didn't try to find a product, and all of a sudden, all these products that I probably would be interested in because of something that maybe I purchased once.
This is really collecting data, isn't it?
Really collecting data.
So we're talking about, let's go back to Masayoshi's son and his plan to collect data.
So Masayoshi's son, the richest man in Japan, owner of ARM, CEO of SoftBank, which isn't a bank, it's a venture capitalist firm, who has $100 billion to invest right now in artificial intelligence, soon another $100 billion.
His goal, he said in Barcelona in 2017, is to put a microchip.
Okay.
He said this in 2017.
In Barcelona, Spain.
Okay.
There will be a microchip in absolutely everything.
So you might say to yourself, how many microchips, Sach?
And I would say to you, how many objects are in the world?
Wow.
Because now listen, you've got to understand.
He owns ARM right now.
He has the money to invest.
And in microchips, and he just started listing things in the room.
You will have microchips in your shoes, in your socks, in your eyeglasses, in your fork and spoon.
Everything will be collecting data.
But this is the overall goal of why they're pouring this money into AI.
All the AI, this artificial intelligence, this smart reasoning intelligence that will be encoded within microchips will be collecting your data.
And then he said every piece of data that it's collecting will be sent to something that he calls a global brain.
A global brain.
So how will people get jobs?
Because if AI takes over, which it's going to, then why do we need humans to do any work, any tasks?
That's right.
So that's another whole discussion is that it's called autonomy.
You know, we talk about autonomous vehicles.
What does that mean?
That means self-driving cars.
Well, let's talk about autonomy in every sector.
The fourth industrial revolution, artificial intelligence, which is characterized by things like robotics, 3D printing, autonomy in every area, it's going to disrupt every sector that you can possibly imagine.
