Compromising Christianity 00:11:55
Hello everybody and welcome to today's episode of Revelation in the News.
I'm your host, Zach Drew.
And I'm Andrew Bellers.
Today I want you to think about something with me.
I want you to think about vomit.
I want you to think about the taste of vomit.
I want you to think about the odor of vomit.
I want you to think about the last time you threw up.
It's disgusting.
The last time that you physically, I mean, that's a horrible thought.
It's one of the most disgusting things that, in my opinion, can happen to a human body is the act of vomiting.
It's just a gross, it's a vile thing.
My question for you today is, what makes God vomit?
What makes God throw up?
The God of the universe.
The Bible talks about it in Revelation chapter 3, whenever God is addressing the church of Laodicea.
Let's read that today.
It says, Revelation chapter 3, verses 14 through 16.
Write to the angel of the church in Laodicea.
Understand this isn't a letter to the world.
This is a letter to the church, to the church of Jesus Christ.
It says, write to the angel of the church in Laodicea, the amen, the faithful and true witness, the originator of God's creation.
It's a title for Christ.
He says, I know your works.
I know what you've been doing, so to speak.
I know your works, that you were neither hot nor cold.
I wish you were either hot or cold.
So because you are lukewarm and neither hot nor cold, I am going to vomit you out of my mouth.
Can you think about that for a moment?
The God of the universe, our God, the God of the Bible, says what makes him physically get sick.
What makes God sick?
You do if you're a lukewarm Christian.
That's powerful.
Yeah.
That's a really strong word.
And scripture supports that too.
God hates compromise.
He hates when we compromise.
The scripture says to be single-minded.
And the reason that God is saying, I'd rather you be cold than be hot, is because if you're cold, then that means that you're a person of a single mind, that all of your actions, all of your thoughts, and everything that you do are directed in one direction.
And God can work with that kind of person because God can radically change your heart.
And you are that kind of person.
So when God changes you, instead of going completely this direction, you're going completely that direction.
But what God hates is compromise because you're giving, like scripture says, you're giving a foothold to the enemy.
You know, I think the Islamic state of Iraq and Syria, ISIS, has kind of stolen the word radical.
They have, totally.
They really have.
They've kind of stole it and perverted the term radical.
Well, I'm telling you right now, God is looking for some radical Christians that he can use as his ambassadors in the earth in these last days.
You see, I believe within our lifetime, you and I's lifetime, this is a crazy statement.
I believe that at one point in time in this future, that we're still on the earth, that lukewarm Christianity will be a thing of the past.
Now, I don't mean that all Christians are going to become hot for the Lord, so to speak.
I mean that there's going to become a dividing time where the lines have been drawn and you will have to choose whom this day you will serve.
Either you're going to serve the enemy or you're going to serve the Lord.
I believe that lukewarm Christianity is going to become a thing of the past.
And the Lord has given me this thought a few months ago, and I've shared it with you before on Revelation, the news.
I believe there's going to be incredible shakings, physical shakings in the natural world that's going to shake us in the spiritual world.
And I got this awesome thought one day, and I imagined somebody standing on a fence post, standing on a fence.
And I believe that this is representing most of the Christians in America, that they're just kind of on the fence, that the Lord knows their works, but they're neither hot nor cold.
And because of that, he's about ready to vomit you out of his mouth.
Now, say that man is on a fence post, and in the physical, a crazy 8.0 or 9.0 earthquake shakes the earth.
Even if that man desperately, understand this, if he desperately wanted to stay on the fence, he wouldn't have the convenience to stand on that fence post any longer.
He would either be shaken to one side or the other.
I believe that this is the time period we're entering into the end times that's going to bring about what our friend Rabbi Jonathan Kahn says, the abolition of gray.
Gray is going to become non-existent.
Either you're on the light side or the dark side.
There's not going to be a thing of lukewarm.
There's not going to be a thing of warm Christianity any longer.
And I think convenience was a good word to use because that's really what we're talking about.
When we're talking about compromise, when we're talking about lukewarm Christianity, it boils down to convenience.
And I think the danger in compromise and being lukewarm is that we've created a God of comfort and convenience, but he's shaded.
He's veiled by this idea of compromise and keeping peace and making best of both worlds.
And he's effectively been able to hide himself.
And we're not even realizing that we've created this idol, this God in our lives.
Exactly.
You know, I believe that convenience is not a bad thing.
You know, I love hot pockets and electricity and microwaves, okay?
Whenever you bring your preferences for convenience into Christianity, that is whenever it's wrong.
You see, Christianity is a hardcore, radical religion.
It is.
It's a complete religion of devotion unto love, which love has a name, and his name is Jesus Christ.
You know, but understand this, that Diedrich Bonhoeffer in the cost of discipleship said this.
When Christ calls a man, when Christ, whenever he knocks on the door to your heart, so to speak, when Christ calls a man, he bids him come and die.
I don't think that Christians today in America have truly counted the cost of what it's going to cost them to be a Christian in the soon coming years.
They haven't.
We don't understand what being a Christian really even means.
But in the rest of the world, it's really a Western thing.
It's very much an American thing because in the rest of the world, Christianity is persecuted.
It's not easy to be a Christian.
So when you...
And under persecution, they thrive.
Under persecution is whenever they grow.
Under persecution is whenever they have to make the decision.
Either I'm going to be hot for the Lord or cold for the Lord.
Yeah.
Lukewarm Christianity, when people fall away from the faith, which is going to happen, it reminds me of, it reminds me of when you see a married couple and they've been married for maybe two or three years and then they get divorced.
And this happens a lot in our country nowadays.
And of course, there are circumstances that, you know, if you don't understand the specifics of the relationship, then you can't make rash judgments.
But for the most part, it really is that those who got married, when they said their vows, they didn't really understand what those vows meant.
And they didn't understand what marriage was.
So when the going got tough, they got going.
I mean, they gave up.
They gave it all away.
And that's what Christians in this country, that's what's happening with us is because we're saying, yeah, you know, I feel like to a point, it's like, I'm Christian because I'm American, you know?
Well, I'm American, so that means I'm Christian.
Well, no, you don't understand what it means.
Jesus is saying, come, follow me, lay yourself down, die to yourself, pick up the cross and follow me.
And that's what we don't understand in this country.
You know, in the same way, Christians are going to be looked at as a weird and peculiar race in the same way that the Old Testament saints who served the God of the Bible looked strange and odd to the rest of the world because of the law.
Yeah, we're not subjected to the law anymore, but to the same degree that the Old Testament saints in the Old Testament stood out to everybody else in the world is to the exact same degree that you and I are called to stand out to the world today, that they would do weird things in the Old Testament.
And I'm sure other people would look at the Israelites and say, what in the world are they doing now?
And the common response would be, oh, it's because of the God they serve.
Well, why are they doing that over there now?
Oh, it's because of the God they serve.
You see, people should be saying those exact same things about the New Testament saints, which is you and I.
Well, why don't they watch those movies?
Or why don't they take these drugs?
Or why don't they shop at these stores?
And the common response should be, oh, it's because of the God they serve.
We are called to stand out.
We are cold.
Christ calls a man and he bids him come and die.
You see, Christianity is not a convenient religion.
You know, I think that there's a scripture that over the years, it may have been watered down a little bit because we've heard it so many times, but I don't think that there's a greater day for this scripture than today.
And it's found in Joshua.
And we're going to be getting to some articles in just a second about what's happening in the world to display the abolition of gray.
That gray is disappearing.
And we're going to see it over the next decade or so, I really believe, continue to more and more and more disappear.
There's not going to be a thing of gray in the world.
You're going to have to be making some hard choices.
And your choices are going to have consequences and possibly even eternal consequences.
Let me read a scripture verse today that may have been watered down, but we need to revive this today.
It's Joshua 24.
Joshua 24, verses 14 through 15.
It says this: Now, therefore, fear the Lord and serve him in sincerity and in faithfulness.
Put away the gods that your fathers served on the river in Egypt and serve the Lord.
So it's saying, put away the other things that you're worshiping, whether it's money, whether it's cars, whether it's sex, whatever it is, whatever your God is, put it away, get rid of it.
And it says, and if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve.
Choose this day, today.
And I really believe that it's not choose a month from now or six months from now or five years from now.
It really is.
It's choose today.
Choose today whom you will serve, whether the gods of your fathers served in the region beyond the river or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell.
But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord.
Because you will serve someone.
Exactly.
You can't not serve someone in this existence because that's what we've been created to do.
We've been created to serve.
We've been created to worship.
It is a need that is within us.
And there is someone, whether it's God or another God, another spirit, you are going to worship and serve something.
That's one of the few incredible common denominators that every man and woman that's ever existed is existing now and will ever exist.
We all share this in common, that we will all worship something.
Why?
Because the God of the Bible, the one true God of the world, of the universe, so to speak, he created us to worship.
Worship's Natural Byproduct 00:03:51
That's why we are created.
Every single human being you've ever laid your eyes on, every single person you've ever met, ever known, they all worship something.
You see, the only difference between Christians and non-Christians is that we simply direct our worship differently.
And whatever you worship, it's a natural byproduct.
Are you ready for this?
You can't even help it.
Whatever you worship, it's a natural byproduct.
You naturally become more like.
Even if you try to not become more like it, you naturally become more like it.
You worship God, you naturally become more like him.
You worship sex, you worship money.
You know, out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks.
Whatever you worship goes into your heart.
And it says in the word of God, out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks.
I can talk to someone for 15 minutes, 20 minutes, and tell you what they worship.
Because out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks.
But today is the day in whom you should decide who are you going to serve.
It's getting increasingly dark.
Choose this day whom you will serve.
Let's just read some of the articles that are taking place this week in the news.
This is from Fox News.
Do you want to talk about Jesus?
Well, you're going to need a permit for that at NC State.
It says a permit is required before students can talk, even talk, even talk about Jesus at North Carolina State University, according to a lawsuit filed in federal court.
In September 2015, the student group was told that without a permit, they must stop approaching other students inside the student union to engage in religious discussions or invite them to attend group events.
How backwards is this?
One person said it's an amazingly broad speech restriction.
Alliance defending freedom attorney Tyson Langhoffer told me, he said this, public universities are supposed to be the marketplace of ideas, not places where students need a permit just to exercise their constitutionally protected freedoms.
You want to evangelize?
You want to talk about Jesus?
You're going to need a permit to do that now at NC University.
It's becoming increasingly dark.
Choose this day whom you will serve.
And in this country, you can serve literally anyone and anything that you want except for Christ.
It's becoming more and more aware that we're becoming more and more aware that the world does not want us around and they don't want us serving God because Jesus is the light and he shows the world its darkness and people don't want their darkness exposed.
And it's more than just we want you to shut up.
It's we want you to accept our ideology and we want to instill it in you.
I have an article here from the Daily Mail that says, now children as young as four, as young as four years old, are asked to choose what gender they are before they start school with the option of being something other than male or female.
The article says, parents have been left furious.
I'd be furious too.
After receiving a letter instructing them to help their four-year-olds choose a gender before they start primary school, Brighton and Hove City Council sent a letter to hundreds of families telling them which school their child would attend in September, but asked them to respond with which gender their child preferred, which is scary because in scripture, when Jesus is talking about those who teach children, young children,
Target's Response to Boycott 00:05:10
evil ways who interfere with them, it said it's better to have a millstone wrapped around your neck and thrown into the ocean than to do that.
Here's another article from Fox News.
Fired for preaching, a Georgia dumps doctor over church sermons.
It's from Fox News.
It says, bivocational pastors, be warned.
What you say from the pulpit on Sunday could get you fired from the public sector job on Monday.
Dr. Eric Walsh, a renowned public health expert who also serves as a lay minister, filed a federal lawsuit against the Georgia Department of Public Health, alleging he was terminated for delivering sermons on issues ranging from homosexuality to evolution.
The dark is growing darker.
It definitely is.
I have another one here that says, campus pro-abortion display, baby-shaped cookies with heads broken off.
It says several social media posts detail an apparent pro-abortion rally at the University of North Georgia held last week at which cookies in the shape of babies were reportedly eaten and had their heads broken off.
And I think that's disturbing.
You know, you can make the argument that it's just cookies and it's just, you know, a display or a picture.
But what happened was they were eating cookies and they were intentionally like eating their heads off and then they were laughing and joking about it.
So it's become a joke now to be morally sound.
You know, the recent what took place last week with Target.
Target is now allowing the transgender people to use whatever bathroom they identify with.
Here is an article displaying here is from CNN.
The light's getting lighter and the dark's getting darker.
Come on now.
It says Alabama City, it says, use bathrooms matching biological sex or face six months in jail.
So Alabama is actually standing against what Target's doing.
But it's a national thing.
Excuse me, it's a statewide thing for all of Alabama.
It says transgender people in Oxford, Alabama could now face six months in jail for using restrooms labeled for the gender with which they identify.
Now, you see, this isn't hateful.
This isn't a hateful thing that Alabama is doing.
They're doing it to protect the women and children that this could affect.
You see, a lot of people are saying that they're not as worried about the transgender people.
And I actually can see their arguments and I understand what they're saying.
But you see, it's an open door to pet predators, to pedophiles, to the perverted.
It's an open door to take advantage of it.
And Alabama is standing up for it and good for them.
Absolutely.
Good for them.
Absolutely good for them.
I have another article, though.
It's Target's response to this boycott where people are outraged that Target would allow basically men in women's bathrooms and women in men's bathrooms.
And this was their response.
This is from Charisma News.
It says, Target finally responds to massive boycott, and you won't believe what they said.
And this was their stance that they took.
Inclusivity to be inclusive is a core belief at Target.
It's something we celebrate.
We stand for equality and equity and strive to make our guests and team members feel accepted, respected, and welcomed in our stores and workplaces every day.
We believe that everyone, every team member, every guest, and every community deserves to be protected from discrimination and treated equally.
Consistent with this belief, Target supports the Federal Equality Act, which provides protections to LGBT individuals and opposes action that enables discrimination.
Everyone deserves to feel like they belong, and you'll always be accepted, respected, and welcomed at Target.
But everyone should be respected and feel safe and feel like they belong, except for women and children who are in vulnerable situations.
Yeah, it's getting darker.
Who will you serve?
You know, we read some articles last week.
I'll just not read the articles, but just the headlines themselves, a couple that display this.
Holy Bible on list of challenged books at libraries.
America is number one at something.
Unfortunately, it's porn websites.
America distributes over, has over 428 million pornographic websites.
Here's another one: Christian churches must be made to affirm homosexuality, says New York Times columnist.
It's getting darker.
Whom will you serve?
Expert, government schools destroying belief in Christianity.
It's getting darker.
Who will you serve?
Abortion activists say pro-life women are just deluded and brainwashed.
It's getting darker, people.
Who are you going to serve?
Target finally responds to massive boycott, and you won't believe what they said, as Andrew just said.
It's getting darker.
Who are you going to serve?
You see, here's the thing.
Choose Your Eternal Fate 00:06:56
We're going to talk about a couple more things, and then we're going to end the broadcast.
There's coming a day very soon where it's going to become less and less convenient to be a Christian in America.
And you're no longer going to have, understand this.
You are no longer going to have the convenience of being a lukewarm Christian in America very, very soon.
I believe we're in the time of sorrows.
I believe that whenever Jesus' disciples said, What can we expect before you return?
In Matthew 24, he gives a list of those first eight verses of what we can expect in the world before he returns.
And it's called the time of sorrows.
But right after that, in the same chapter of Matthew 24, he goes on and says this in Matthew 24, verses 9 through 14.
Then you'll be handed over to be persecuted and put to death.
Who?
Christians.
True Christians.
And this isn't reserved to some geographical location.
It's reserved for the entire world.
God's final judgment is upon the entire world.
So he says, then you'll be handed over to be persecuted and put to death.
He says, and you'll be hated by all nations because of me.
Why?
Why do they hate Christians?
It's because the word of God is convicting.
It's challenging.
It requires change.
It says, the word of God is sharper than a double-edged sword.
The word of God is a double-edged sword.
It's not a bag of cotton candy.
You know what I'm saying?
It's hardcore.
It says, and you'll be handed by all nations.
You'll be hated by all nations because of me.
At that time, many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other.
This is what's going to happen to the Christian people.
Christian people before Christ returns.
It says, at that time, many will turn away from the faith and will betray and hate each other.
And many false prophets will appear and deceive many people.
Because of the increase of wickedness, the love of most will grow cold.
But the one who stands firm to the end will be saved.
And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations.
Then the end will come.
We just have a couple more minutes left.
I want to offer you the opportunity to decide today whom you and your household will serve.
You see, the book of James talks about how this life is a vapor, that we're just here for a little while and then we're gone.
You see, how crazy is that to think that he referred his entire life?
Everybody, whether you live 50 years, 100 years, or people of the Old Testament lived 900 years.
He said, this life is a vapor.
This life is just here for a while and gone.
How can he say, I'm 25 years old right now.
How can he say it doesn't feel like a vapor?
Because he was comparing it to something.
He was comparing it to eternity.
Because anything compared to eternity is a vapor.
It's a mist that's appears for a while and is gone.
You see, you and I, what a crazy radical thought that you and I are actually eternal beings.
We're going to live forever.
The moment you were conceived in your mother's womb, you became a forever being.
You became an eternal being.
You will literally be billions and billions and billions and billions of years old one day.
Think about that.
That's a crazy thought.
But it's what you decide to do here on this side of heaven in this small little vapor that truly means, sometimes it feels like it means nothing.
But at the same time, it means everything.
Because it's what you decide to do here on earth that's going to determine where you spend forever and ever and ever and ever and ever for.
It's in this, it says, every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.
You see, the trick is to do it on this side of heaven.
If you want to experience eternal life in heaven with Jesus Christ, all you have to do is confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that Jesus Christ is Lord.
And that's it.
And it's just a confession with your mouth and believe in your heart that he's your Lord, that he's the master.
Make him the possessor of your life.
Say, Jesus, forgive me of my sins.
You see, the only atonement for our sins, the only wiping away that we can ever experience of our sins is through Jesus' blood and what he did for us on the cross.
Accept him today.
You see, understand that today, your entire, not just life, this is a crazy thought.
You really got to think like this.
Your entire eternity could be changed today, today, where you spend forever and ever and ever and ever could be changed today with simply confessing with your mouth and believing in your heart that Jesus is the Lord and make him the Lord, the master and the possessor of your life and ask for the forgiveness of your sins that's only obtained through the blood of Jesus Christ that he died on that cross and rose again three days later.
And you can experience eternal life with Jesus in heaven.
This life is so fragile.
It's a mist.
It really, it's an odd thing.
This life really means nothing.
At the same time, it means everything.
But it's what you decide to do here that determines where you spend all of eternity for.
Make Jesus Christ your Lord and personal Savior today.
It's growing darker in the world.
And I want you to be on Jesus's team, on Jesus' team.
Convenience of Christianity, lukewarm Christianity, is going to be abolished in the soon coming.
And convenience is not worth it to jeopardize eternity at all.
I mean, when you think about it, yeah, the things that Jesus said were radical.
I mean, at one point, Jesus said, if you don't hate your father and mother, and Jesus spoke in radical terms so that you would understand these concepts.
He said, if you don't hate your father and mother, then you're not worthy of me.
And what he's saying is that if you love those around you, if you love experiences, if you love convenience, if you love your own life more than you love me, then you're not going to make it to the end.
You're not going to make it to that eternity because those things will always get in your way and the enemy will always throw that in your path and you're going to be cut off from me.
And it's not worth it.
It's not worth it.
That's right.
So I want to say that one more time.
Choose today whom you will serve because it's going to affect your entire eternity.
This has been Revelation in the News.
