Seven Days Before Rain
00:05:14
|
|
| I was talking to somebody the other day and they made a comment that Noah went into the ark seven days before the rains came. | |
| Well, that kind of sparked a thought. | |
| I hadn't really noticed that before and I thought I needed to go back and look at Noah again. | |
| And one of the other thoughts that came to me was that in Noah's day, there were so many scoffers laughing at him for building an ark. | |
| Sure. | |
| And it's a parallel. | |
| The Bible says, as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be at the coming of the Son of Man. | |
| And tell me, do we have any scoffers even in the church today that are making fun of those that are building an ark? | |
| I mean, it's sad. | |
| It's really sad because a lot of these are ministers that are scoffing at God's people preparing for his coming. | |
| And these ministers are deceiving the people they're teaching who are going to be caught unaware. | |
| God said, I don't want you to be caught unaware. | |
| He wants us to be ready for his coming. | |
| And yet preachers are preaching against the very words that Jesus said. | |
| That's right. | |
| Well, so anyway, I went back and I looked into Noah, and I did find something very interesting. | |
| You see, it says in Noah chapter 7, it says, the Lord then said to Noah, go into the ark, you and your whole family, because I have found you righteous in this generation. | |
| Well, you know, one of the thoughts that dawned on me is that God oftentimes speaks to prophets, but he doesn't speak to all of us. | |
| We need to trust the prophets. | |
| And we can trust the prophets because we can test them from the word of God. | |
| Okay? | |
| Well, you know, like for instance, in my family, God has spoken things into my heart that I know are true, and my wife hasn't heard it. | |
| And so it's almost like sometimes our wives, you know, a prophet's without honor in his home country. | |
| And sometimes in his own home. | |
| And I don't mean, you know, to be putting down my family at all. | |
| But here's the point I wanted to make. | |
| Noah had been hearing from God. | |
| He was building an ark for a hundred years. | |
| And I can imagine there were seasons of doubt that may have hit his family. | |
| Sure. | |
| I mean, 50 years down the road, and his wife says, we haven't had a vacation in 50 years. | |
| You've been building this ark. | |
| And is this rain ever really going to come? | |
| Wow. | |
| I can kind of understand how Noah's wife has that fellow. | |
| I could preach a sermon called The Ultimate Prepper. | |
| Yes. | |
| That's Noah. | |
| Yes. | |
| So he goes for another decade. | |
| And he had to prepare with no rain. | |
| No water. | |
| He's building a boat with no water. | |
| There weren't even any clouds in the sky. | |
| You know, and there was no lake to float his boat. | |
| So here Noah is going another decade and another decade. | |
| And his wife is being long-suffering and his kids are helping him build the boat. | |
| And 100 years goes by. | |
| And finally, God hears a word from God. | |
| I mean, Noah hears a word from God. | |
| He says, Noah, it's time to get in the boat. | |
| And literally, says right here, listen to this. | |
| Seven days from now, I will send rain on the earth for 40 days and 40 nights. | |
| Well, before it said seven days from now, God says, Noah, it's time to get in the boat. | |
| So he's rounding up his family. | |
| He's getting him in the boat. | |
| He's heard from God. | |
| Now his wife didn't hear what God said, but Noah heard. | |
| They all get in the boat. | |
| The door is closed. | |
| It says God closed the door. | |
| Yes, that's what it says. | |
| You know, you see, God closes the door. | |
| We need to make sure we get in while the door is open. | |
| That's right. | |
| So here you have Noah and his family. | |
| They're in the boat. | |
| They peek out the hole. | |
| The sun's still shining. | |
| For seven days, the sun is still shining. | |
| Can you imagine? | |
| The first day goes by, and they're cooped up in this boat that smells of all the animals in the boat. | |
| Oh, gosh. | |
| And Noah's wife says, Noah, we've been in here for a day. | |
| Where's the rain? | |
| You know, talk about setting a date. | |
| You know what I mean? | |
| Oh, something's supposed to happen. | |
| We're all in the boat. | |
| Two days goes by. | |
| Noah, still no rain. | |
| Three days, four days, five days. | |
| Noah, I think you missed it. | |
| You built this ark for nothing. | |
| We don't even have a lake to go out and enjoy it on. | |
| And, you know, so, you know, I actually heard a story, and not heard a story, I heard from a friend of mine that nothing happened on the 13th. | |
|
God's Timing Still Open

|
|
| You missed it. | |
| I want you to call the food bank and have them come down here and take all this food and give it to the poor. | |
| Now, I don't want to put down anybody, but you know what? | |
| That's a reaction that is understandable. | |
| You know, because we can build up expectations, but it's God's timing. | |
| Wow. | |
| God is the one that's extending the time so that others can come in. | |
| The door is still open, but God is going to close the day shortly, and we must do the work. | |
| The Bible says do the work while it is day, for the night cometh when no man can work. | |
