Jim Bakker Show - Don't Be Caught Unaware Aired: 2015-11-12 Duration: 05:49 === Seven Days Before Rain (05:14) === [00:00:00] I was talking to somebody the other day and they made a comment that Noah went into the ark seven days before the rains came. [00:00:09] Well, that kind of sparked a thought. [00:00:12] I hadn't really noticed that before and I thought I needed to go back and look at Noah again. [00:00:17] And one of the other thoughts that came to me was that in Noah's day, there were so many scoffers laughing at him for building an ark. [00:00:28] Sure. [00:00:30] And it's a parallel. [00:00:31] The Bible says, as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be at the coming of the Son of Man. [00:00:37] And tell me, do we have any scoffers even in the church today that are making fun of those that are building an ark? [00:00:45] I mean, it's sad. [00:00:47] It's really sad because a lot of these are ministers that are scoffing at God's people preparing for his coming. [00:00:57] And these ministers are deceiving the people they're teaching who are going to be caught unaware. [00:01:05] God said, I don't want you to be caught unaware. [00:01:09] He wants us to be ready for his coming. [00:01:11] And yet preachers are preaching against the very words that Jesus said. [00:01:15] That's right. [00:01:16] Well, so anyway, I went back and I looked into Noah, and I did find something very interesting. [00:01:23] You see, it says in Noah chapter 7, it says, the Lord then said to Noah, go into the ark, you and your whole family, because I have found you righteous in this generation. [00:01:36] Well, you know, one of the thoughts that dawned on me is that God oftentimes speaks to prophets, but he doesn't speak to all of us. [00:01:47] We need to trust the prophets. [00:01:49] And we can trust the prophets because we can test them from the word of God. [00:01:54] Okay? [00:01:54] Well, you know, like for instance, in my family, God has spoken things into my heart that I know are true, and my wife hasn't heard it. [00:02:05] And so it's almost like sometimes our wives, you know, a prophet's without honor in his home country. [00:02:15] And sometimes in his own home. [00:02:17] And I don't mean, you know, to be putting down my family at all. [00:02:21] But here's the point I wanted to make. [00:02:24] Noah had been hearing from God. [00:02:27] He was building an ark for a hundred years. [00:02:29] And I can imagine there were seasons of doubt that may have hit his family. [00:02:34] Sure. [00:02:34] I mean, 50 years down the road, and his wife says, we haven't had a vacation in 50 years. [00:02:39] You've been building this ark. [00:02:41] And is this rain ever really going to come? [00:02:45] Wow. [00:02:46] I can kind of understand how Noah's wife has that fellow. [00:02:50] I could preach a sermon called The Ultimate Prepper. [00:02:53] Yes. [00:02:53] That's Noah. [00:02:54] Yes. [00:02:54] So he goes for another decade. [00:02:57] And he had to prepare with no rain. [00:03:00] No water. [00:03:00] He's building a boat with no water. [00:03:03] There weren't even any clouds in the sky. [00:03:05] You know, and there was no lake to float his boat. [00:03:09] So here Noah is going another decade and another decade. [00:03:14] And his wife is being long-suffering and his kids are helping him build the boat. [00:03:19] And 100 years goes by. [00:03:21] And finally, God hears a word from God. [00:03:25] I mean, Noah hears a word from God. [00:03:26] He says, Noah, it's time to get in the boat. [00:03:30] And literally, says right here, listen to this. [00:03:37] Seven days from now, I will send rain on the earth for 40 days and 40 nights. [00:03:44] Well, before it said seven days from now, God says, Noah, it's time to get in the boat. [00:03:50] So he's rounding up his family. [00:03:52] He's getting him in the boat. [00:03:53] He's heard from God. [00:03:55] Now his wife didn't hear what God said, but Noah heard. [00:03:59] They all get in the boat. [00:04:01] The door is closed. [00:04:02] It says God closed the door. [00:04:04] Yes, that's what it says. [00:04:05] You know, you see, God closes the door. [00:04:07] We need to make sure we get in while the door is open. [00:04:10] That's right. [00:04:12] So here you have Noah and his family. [00:04:15] They're in the boat. [00:04:16] They peek out the hole. [00:04:17] The sun's still shining. [00:04:19] For seven days, the sun is still shining. [00:04:21] Can you imagine? [00:04:22] The first day goes by, and they're cooped up in this boat that smells of all the animals in the boat. [00:04:28] Oh, gosh. [00:04:29] And Noah's wife says, Noah, we've been in here for a day. [00:04:33] Where's the rain? [00:04:34] You know, talk about setting a date. [00:04:36] You know what I mean? [00:04:37] Oh, something's supposed to happen. [00:04:38] We're all in the boat. [00:04:40] Two days goes by. [00:04:41] Noah, still no rain. [00:04:44] Three days, four days, five days. [00:04:47] Noah, I think you missed it. [00:04:49] You built this ark for nothing. [00:04:51] We don't even have a lake to go out and enjoy it on. [00:04:54] And, you know, so, you know, I actually heard a story, and not heard a story, I heard from a friend of mine that nothing happened on the 13th. === God's Timing Still Open (00:49) === [00:05:07] You missed it. [00:05:08] I want you to call the food bank and have them come down here and take all this food and give it to the poor. [00:05:16] Now, I don't want to put down anybody, but you know what? [00:05:21] That's a reaction that is understandable. [00:05:26] You know, because we can build up expectations, but it's God's timing. [00:05:31] Wow. [00:05:32] God is the one that's extending the time so that others can come in. [00:05:37] The door is still open, but God is going to close the day shortly, and we must do the work. [00:05:44] The Bible says do the work while it is day, for the night cometh when no man can work.
