Undermining Spirits in Ministry
00:05:11
|
|
| What does that spirit do to leadership? | |
| It's an undermining spirit. | |
| Here's what happens. | |
| Anytime there's an Absalon spirit that's active in any ministry, any business, what happens is, for instance, in ministry, the enemy uses this spirit to pollute the streams. | |
| And anytime you muddy the waters, the sheep will never drink. | |
| And so that spirit is active today. | |
| Now, here's the thing. | |
| A lot of people want your direction in ministry, but they don't want your correction in ministry. | |
| That's it. | |
| The real test is not direction. | |
| The real test is correction. | |
| So what happened is, when you look into the life of David, the Bible says Absalom, he was a smooth operator. | |
| He was an ego stroker. | |
| Okay? | |
| And he stole the hearts of the men of Israel. | |
| In one chapter, I deal with staff infection. | |
| And those are all of those that were close to David. | |
| David's entire staff turned against him because of one man that was there. | |
| What did he do? | |
| He sat by the gate. | |
| Yes. | |
| He knew the entrance of the church. | |
| And he made statements like this. | |
| If I was the pastor of the church, I wouldn't be running this ministry like this. | |
| Oh, boy. | |
| You know, I think the pastor, I think the king's a little too rough on the people here. | |
| I think he's manipulating you all. | |
| And you better open your eyes because what y'all need is a new leader. | |
| You need a new leader. | |
| So what this spirit does is poison the mind of people that's close to you. | |
| And if you're not careful, those that you've trained and mentored, one spirit can come in the house and divide the whole house. | |
| They lick the wounds. | |
| After you bring correction, they come behind you and they take people to dinner. | |
| They stroke them. | |
| They sweet talk them. | |
| They meet with them in back rooms and says, they shouldn't treat you this way. | |
| Now, Absalom's spirit and Korah's spirit are first cousins. | |
| Okay? | |
| Now, Korah, now, Jude said this. | |
| We must honestly contend for the faith that was delivered unto the saints of God. | |
| Then he goes on to talk about false teachers have crept in. | |
| And then he says they have gone the way of Cain, number one, Balaam, number two, and then Korah, number three. | |
| He links them all together because Cain was a murdering spirit that comes to murder. | |
| So how do people do it today? | |
| They do it through accusations. | |
| They try to kill your influence. | |
| That's what Absalom did. | |
| Balaam, what did Balaam do? | |
| Balaam was a backslitting prophet. | |
| Okay? | |
| But because of greedy gain, gain, he prophesied for money. | |
| Okay? | |
| And then Korah pops up. | |
| Who is Korah? | |
| Korah was the one that opposed leadership. | |
| So you're not the only one God's talking to. | |
| Moses, Aaron, God's speaking to us too. | |
| You got too much authority in this place. | |
| Everybody's got to bow to you. | |
| These are the accusations. | |
| He brought six to eight accusations against the leadership. | |
| And he tried to persuade the people and pull them away from their assignment. | |
| We're in a generation today where there's young preachers that don't understand the process or people in ministry. | |
| Let me say it like that. | |
| Not just preacher, but people in ministry. | |
| God will never put you over what's under you until you can first come under what's over you. | |
| Oh, that's so good. | |
| Because that's how God works. | |
| That's true. | |
| That's God's true. | |
| No, we've got a generation that's hungry for power, prominence, and position. | |
| But God always prepares you before he positions you. | |
| Yes, he does. | |
| Well, I got a prophecy. | |
| And what happens is some of these false teachers will come in and it takes a spirit of discernment to recognize this. | |
| While you're correcting them, they want to prophesy to them and tell them that they're greater than what they are. | |
| And that's a danger. | |
| Because if anybody knows the kids, mom and daddy do. | |
| That's right. | |
| Hello, somebody. | |
| Have you ever had someone to come to your house and say, oh, your kids are just so sweet? | |
| Lord, I love to take them to my house for a week. | |
| And you stand in the back of your mind, okay? | |
| When you get a little Johnny over there. | |
| Yeah. | |
| Yeah. | |
| You're going to change your mind real quick. | |
| You'll be sending him back home in about 30 minutes. | |
| Hello, somebody. | |
| Oh, my goodness. | |
| Mom and daddy know the real deal. | |
| I've actually sent a few of mine and they had sent him back. | |
| They sent him back in a few minutes, yeah, when they were growing up. | |
| So that's what happens in ministry. | |
| When you started correcting people, then people come back and then they undermine. | |
| Now, people don't understand how deadly this Absalon spirit is. | |
| He stole the hearts of the men of Israel. | |
| People that you train in here. | |
| Someone can come in, and Absalom has influence. | |
| Don't fool yourself. | |
| Absalom has influence, and he has much influence. | |
|
David's Trusted Friend
00:01:45
|
|
| He stole their hearts from under the king. | |
| And listen to who he had in cahoots with him. | |
| He had, number one, well, he had a hippophil. | |
| That was David's counselor. | |
| That was David's go-to man when he shared his heart with. | |
| That's why David wrote in Psalms: he says, Those that have sat at my table have lifted their heels against me. | |
| He says, Had this been an enemy, I could have dealt with it. | |
| But this was a trusted friend. | |
| This was someone that went to the sanctuary with me. | |
| He was alluding to Ahippophel. | |
| Okay, who was the other one? | |
| It was Amazi. | |
| Amazi was the captain of the host. | |
| He's David's military man. | |
| So now you've got Absalom, David's own biological son. | |
| You've got Ahippophel, David's counselor. | |
| You've got the military man, Amazi. | |
| Then you even have Shemei. | |
| Who's Shimmei? | |
| He's David's best friend from his youth. | |
| The Bible said he picks up a stone and he throws it in the face. | |
| Your best friend. | |
| Can't nobody hurt you like the one you love. | |
| That's right. | |
| Or closest to you. | |
| Those are the ones that rip your heart out of your chest. | |
| Okay? | |
| And then here's the kicker, Mephiboshet. | |
| Oh, no, not Mephibosheth. | |
| He's the one that bought him from Lolibar. | |
| Yeah. | |
| David's walking through the palace one day and he asked the question: Is there any left in the house of Saul that I should show kindness to for Jonathan's sake? | |
| They said, Yeah, there's one left. | |
| He's Mephibosheth. | |
| Where is he? | |
| He's down in Lolibar. | |
| Zibba, go and get him. | |
| Fetch him. | |
| Bring him in. | |
| And bring him to the king's table. | |
| And David says he's going to eat from the king's table. | |
| But to David's amazement, all of them were in cahoots and they turned against their leader. | |
| And Mephibosheth was in the group. | |
