Woodward And Murray A Tale Of Two "Icons"
| Copy link to current segment

Time Text
We have developed speed, but we have shut ourselves in.
Machinery that gives abundance has left us in want.
We think too much and feel too little.
More than machinery, we need humanity.
We know the air is unfit to breathe and our food is unfit to eat, as if that's the way it's supposed to be.
We know things are bad, worse than bad.
They're crazy.
Silence!
The great and powerful Oz knows why you have come.
You've got to say, I'm a human being.
God damn it!
My life has value!
You have meddled with the primal forces of nature.
Don't give yourselves to brutes.
Men who despise you, enslave you, who regiment your lives, tell you what to do, what to think, or what to feel, who drill you, diet you, treat you like cattle, use you as cannon fodder.
Don't give yourselves to these unnatural men, machine men with machine minds and machine hearts.
Yeah, thank you.
You're beautiful.
I love you.
Yes.
You're beautiful.
Thank you.
It's showtime.
And now, Reality Reads with Jason Bermas.
And who loves you and who do you love?
Hey everybody, Jason Bermas here and I'm just asking questions.
And the question we are going to ask today is, did Bob Woodward, in his work Woodward and Bernstein, set up Richard Nixon?
And we're going to use a caveat for that.
With his reporting not only on the life and death of John Belushi in Wired, but also one of his more recent books, the one on Trump from the Trump tapes, called Rage!
Rage!
So, what prompted me to do this kind of short, more fun video?
Was that I had caught a clip, I didn't watch the whole thing, anywhere near it, of Bill Murray, an actor that I've really enjoyed and respected for my entire adult life, but at the same time, even as a child, was extremely influential in the fact that...
He was from an era where one of the first movies that had an impact on me that I thought was funny, and it was science fiction-y, of course, Ghostbusters.
And then he had a wide work of movies after that, which truly are awesome.
Scrooged!
The retelling of the Charles Dickens classic, right?
I mean, that right there is...
I watch it...
Most holiday seasons, I try to watch that film because it actually brings me joy.
I don't want to rant and rave too much about his movie career because I could keep going and going and going and going, but even like Nick at Night coming into play and then later E! replaying SNLs that had Bill Murray in them, those were huge.
I think that Kingpin...
Is the greatest bowling movie.
I know there's a lot of Big Lebowski people out there.
Greatest bowling movie of all time.
And it is because of Big Earn McCracken.
And this horrible person that Bill Murray plays.
So I watched this clip of Bill Murray talking to Joe Rogan.
And here's the thing.
Bill Murray physically...
First of all, even when he was a young guy, he never looked like a young guy.
But he's certainly looking rather aged, if you would.
He's still extremely sharp.
And he's still got that very even keel that you kind of saw in the second half of his career.
You've got to remember, I titled this two icons, because we're going to talk about Bob Woodward in a minute as well.
But when you see Bill Murray...
In the last 20, 25 years, he kind of became this other thing outside of being an actor where there was a lot of performance art and in the selfie era, him showing up to places.
The Chive, that I know so many people are aware of, really during their heyday, they had Murray bumper stickers and they were utilizing that for things like Secret Santa.
I remember while I was running the bar in Oneonta, we did an event with the Chive.
During that time period to get toys for tots and things like that.
That's what I meant.
Not Secret Santa.
But you get the picture.
So Bill Murray's sitting there.
And I think that John Belushi comes up.
So it's not so much the book.
But somehow he gets into Wired.
Which was this bestseller on the other end of the spectrum.
Bob Woodward, when we're talking about academia and the establishment and, you know, the narrative sell on journalism, he's the man.
He's the man.
We're going to get into that and how that was a big, on top of it, Holly weird sell.
Okay?
All this narrative management...
Goes through those entertainment routes.
And that's kind of the irony of this thing.
You got one person who's supposed to be the out-and-out entertainer, Bill Murray.
And then you got Woodward, who's supposed to be the journalist and the truth-teller.
See?
Little inversions of reality there.
So Murray, he discusses with Joe that he read five pages of that book.
And I don't want to...
Misquote him.
But he said, oh my god, they set up Nixon.
Now, again, I don't want to dive too deep into Watergate and Kissinger, but guys like Roger Stone and others have always been purveyors of the idea that Nixon really didn't know what he was dealing with with Kissinger and the likes.
And he got outside.
Of the scope of the plans of globalization.
And he was a populist, very popular president.
And they took him out with this scandal.
He got set up top to bottom.
So I hear Murray say this.
And then the exchange goes, he goes, if he could, when I read this, he goes, if he could lie about my friend like this in the first five pages, he goes, I had such a bad taste in my mouth.
I couldn't, you know, obviously, This is decades later.
Decades.
Like 40 plus years later.
And he says he's going to have to answer for it someday.
And that's really what this is about.
So before I go further, because guess what?
They actually ended up clashing just days later.
And that's why we're doing this video.
And we're going to also ask that question.
Did they set up Nixon?
Thumbs it up.

There's a brand new video over there.
Not available here.
In fact, a couple videos over there that are not going to be available over on YouTube if you're watching live on YouTube.
Rumble, Rockfin, X is where to find them.
I need your support now more than ever.
The paid gigs are over.
Everything's back to the Burmese Brigade.
I want to thank Karuster, Someone, Marshall Spring, Runny Logs, Patty Weemers, and others including Matthew A. I don't know if you want me to...
Say your last name.
Very generous donation.
Thank you so much.
Can't do it without you.
$5, $10, $15.
Sharing the clips.
Sharing the videos.
I just did two amazing interviews with Kurt Weldon, 20-year congressman, and the guy that tried to let everybody know the truth about 9-11, pre-intelligence, able danger, and then the top spy in able danger, Lieutenant Colonel Anthony Schaefer.
Two unmissable episodes.
If you've not seen those, please check those out.
And please share them with other people.
Like I said, I understand everybody can't financially support.
Totally get that.
Watch those.
If you think they're worth sharing, gets to sharing.
All right.
So Bill Murray says all these things.
And then they actually meet.
Bill Murray, Bob Woodward share tense words.
Over John Belushi book at the Kennedy Center.
And one of the aspects that they talk about, okay, Rogan and Murray, is that it's not just money.
It's the fame.
It's the esteem.
It's the circles.
It's the admiration.
It's being liked and loved amongst your peers.
And that is, listen, that's not just the mainstream.
That's not even just the alternative.
And you know what?
I didn't have it brought up, but since we can do it and we can...
We'll do it live.
We'll do it live!
Fuck it!
Do it live!
I'll write it and we'll do it live!
That's what we're going to do.
So, if you go over to my ex and another reason to go follow me.
See, we're live over on ex.
It's so sad.
That money and fame are so important to so many when happiness and decency don't have to include either.
Now, I'm not demonizing money.
Money allows freedom.
And honestly, if you're driven at certain things, if you really put in the effort, I see nothing.
Especially if you're trying to be positive with having wealth because that takes a lot of burdens off your shoulder.
But people...
That think that money and fame are going to make them happy?
Is that why there's so much plastic surgery out there and suicides and drug use?
And the headline here was, I sold my virginity for $2 million when I was at college to an A-lister who visited Epstein's Island.
But I don't regret anything.
Now I'm rich and famous.
Now look, I'm not even trying to objectify that woman.
Again, this is a...
This is a metaphor, an allegory, for people wanting that fame and adulation in every regard.
I'd have a lot more respect if she said, now I'm financially secure and able to pursue this or that.
If it's about fame, I mean, there are just people out there that just have no shame.
And yes, the rhyme was included.
And I think Bob Woodward, maybe, Could be one of those people.
So, a lot of people forget this, but, you know, they tried to make Trump into a villain via the COVID-1984 nightmare and Bob Woodward on his spin on, you know, these interviews that Trump had given him.
And again, Trump was still at that point.
Just nowhere near he was.
It really took not only just the prosecutions, in my opinion, but them shooting at him.
And he's still not perfect.
We're not on the Trump parade here.
But as far as media narratives surrounding Trump, Bob Woodward's full throttle, baby.
He's, let's move it forward.
He's the guy that's enabling the fantasists.
And the outright knowing liars.
I mean, there are some people that have their blind spots or whatever.
But the Maddows of the world, the Joy Reads of the world, it's the same deal as Woodward and that girl.
They're very happy with their fame and money.
They crave it.
They crave it.
Now, I want to hit just two other points.
About Woodward and us asking that question, did they set Nixon up?
Because that's the overarching point of this video.
And, you know, again, shout out to Murray.
I just watched him on Hot Ones.
Another great show.
And just in that little clip on Rogan and then watching Hot Ones, he's very insightful.
And there are just certain things that he does know and other things that he does not know.
And being a guy that...
He's part of pop culture.
You can see there are a lot of spots where he's not absorbed pop culture.
Like, you know, he's not really aware of Rogan.
Yeah, right now he's pitching a movie with Pete Davidson.
He's on the media circle.
Or circuit, sorry about that.
And that now includes it.
And when we talk about old school media and selling you narratives, Redford, Hoffman, both great actors, by the way.
All the president's men.
All the president's men.
You know, it's funny.
We've talked about here how there are also parts of Hollyweird.
They're not just selling narratives like that one, which is the Watergate story, Woodward and Bernstein, not Woodward and bullshit.
Right?
They're selling you that narrative, but then...
I was watching a story on a different...
It was actually Bill Murray telling it.
Because Bill Murray was in Tootsie with Dustin Hoffman.
And this was on Hot Ones.
I'm going to tell you why it's relevant.
Sidney Pollack was directing that film.
So Sidney Pollack and Dustin Hoffman were constantly arguing back and forth.
Okay?
Now, Sidney Pollack...
Was a spy and an arms dealer for Israel in the Arnon Milken network.
Okay?
Now, you don't think you're also pitching narratives as well in those same networks?
Very powerful in Hollywood.
And Murray was talking about how Hoffman and Pollack were constantly at each other's throats.
It's kind of like that love-hate thing.
Right?
Like, it's not like they actually hated each other, but they just love to disagree with one another and go at it all the time.
What are the chances?
And by the way, Dustin Hoffman later, and I think De Niro too.
Yeah, De Niro and Hoffman both end up being in Wag the Dog, one of the quintessential movies about government narratives and propaganda.
Actually, it could be...
Is it two separate movies?
Wag the Dog is definitely one of them.
And I'm wondering if Dave is the other one.
Actually, I think Wag the Dog is De Niro.
I think it's got both.
Let's do it.
We're going to do it live.
Thumbs it up.
Subscribe and share.
The Dog cast.
Yes, I was right.
Of course I was.
So yeah, Dustin Hoffman and De Niro in that.
I didn't realize, I haven't watched in a long time, that Woody Harrelson is in that.
That's pretty interesting as well, since Harrelson's father was probably Black Ops.
So, you know, my point was, they sold it to you then, and then they hanked it to you later.
Right?
Like, the whole thing, continually, they continue to sell you on those narratives.
So, like I said, this is going to be a short video.
We're going to be doing more of these.
Making Sense of the Madness in its old form of interviews and commercials and things of that nature are officially done for now.
We'll see if they come back.
I certainly hope that Patriot TV can get some sponsorships for the show and we can get our producer back and we can make it a viable paying gig.
Until then, it's going to be a commentary-driven show.
It's going to be live on my socials.
First and foremost.
And then over at Patriot TV. And it's going to be more of this.
And also interacting with the audience more.
Some AMAs, etc.
If you hear my throat, yes, it's felt better over the week.
But we're still on the tail end of it.
Trying to fix it.
You know the drill, guys.
I couldn't do it without you.
Please consider donating via the links below.
There's also a PayPal.
There's crypto.
You guys...
RMI Support Base.
I love you for that.
I also want you to check out all the documentary films for free.
Like, if you watch the Kurt Weldon and Anthony Schaefer videos and you haven't seen Loose Change Final Cut and Fabled Enemies, it all integrates together.
It's all extremely important.
And what time does it take to not only post on your socials a link to those things, but maybe email somebody.
Or in a direct message, say, hey...
You've got to watch this.
That helps so much because to me, again, it's not about money and fame.
It's about the message.
It's about the truth.
And it's about that message affecting a change for the better for all of us and all of humanity so we can push forward into a true golden age, not just something that's hyped up.
And look, I think we have...
Shifted the narrative.
Far from perfect.
A lot of bad things going on.
We'll probably do some videos on the awful things coming out of Syria right now and the Middle East in short order.
But until then, that's for another time.
It is not about left or right to me.
It is always about right and wrong.
I absolutely love you guys.
