	Did you know, did you know that the case she has brought against not only President Trump, but his children as well as the Trump Organization is a civil suit, which is weird.
	If he committed a crime, that would be the job of the Attorney General of New York to charge him with a criminal offense.
	If somebody wanted to sue him, who had standing as a private individual, that is the reason we have the civil court system.
	Why is the Attorney General using a civil action if she can't find evidence of a crime?
	Oh, and by the way, what is the charge?
	The president overvalued or undervalued properties?
	Never happened before in real estate.
	But it's strange.
	I've bought a couple of houses in my life.
	Not many.
	I think I bought three houses.
	And let me just check in with our producer, Mr. G. When... I think you probably bought a house in your life.

	Well, it's probably different with buildings that are worth like three or four hundred million.
	They probably don't care that much about it.

	All right, tell us, you did a little bit of Zillow research for our opening segment today.
	Talk to us about what you found out about West Palm Beach and Mar-a-Lago.
	Yeah, Leticia James, she likes to go to Mar-a-Lago.
	She says it's only worth 75 million that he grossly overvalued it.
	But what she does is she doesn't base it on the real estate value.
	She bases it on the sales of the club.
	And if you actually, if you look at Mar-a-Lago, it runs from the bay all the way to the ocean.
	It's a huge property.
	Huge.
	There's a small oceanfront That is right next to Mar-a-Lago.
	And Zillow estimates that just that little one, where you could probably fit 10 inside of Mar-a-Lago, is worth $140 million.
	Hang on.
	A little slice of property that's next to Mar-a-Lago is $140 million?
	Exactly.
	And I did a little more research, too.
	Forbes, a couple years ago, wrote this whole article that Donald Trump isn't worth anywhere near what he says he is.
	So they even downgraded everything.
	And they said that Mar-a-Lago was worth $350 million when they were actually trying to downgrade it so everything was worth less.
	They're utterly, utterly desperate.

	Yeah, I think he's worth like 30 or 40 million, isn't he?

	And, you know, people tend to go after Trump, target him unfairly, apply different standards of justice.
	And when that happens, I think it has to be called out.
	So even he doesn't see the case.

	There are things that Letitia James could justifiably investigate.

	He really does want to see him indicted for some reason.

	We can't continue to fund Social Security, Medicare, all of this stuff without immigrants.
	And it's always been that way.

	The burdens of capitalism.
	And we need immigrants to replace the kids we're not having.

	The lead story, the only story, is that Vladimir Putin has threatened to use nuclear weapons in Ukraine and said he is not bluffing.
	So there's lots of news I would do on a normal happy day, but it's not every day that you wake up and see one of the world's most tyrannical, vicious people, who happens to have thousands of nuclear weapons, threaten to use them.
	Indeed, I've been doing this show for 23 years and there's never been a threat like that in 23 years.
	Hugh, Hugh, Hugh, please stop it.
	Talk to some experts who know of which they speak.
	We have in studio, I just saw her like moments ago on the screen at Fox, but now she's on a real show.
	Rebecca Kerfler, she was in charge of, you know, things Russian at the Defense Intelligence Agency.

	Well, first off, Dr. Giv, by us you mean the United States, not Europe, then absolutely not.
	We're not going to be nuked by crazy Vlad or on any Vlad, because as you know, having worked for President Trump yourself and worked with special forces, the nuclear doctrine has changed.
	The Russians have a brand new doctrine called escalate to de-escalate.
	It's no longer mad, right?
	He is not going to send strategic nuclear weapons into the United States or even in Europe.
	What Crazy Vlad is talking about, or implying rather here, is the detonation of a low-yield Tactical nuclear warhead, potentially.
	In theater.
	Tactical nuke in theater.
	So we're talking about on the battlefield in Ukraine.
	100%.
	And that is because he's cornered.
	He is losing as Ukrainians have mounted a very successful counteroffensive With U.S.
	help, obviously, both in terms of real-time intelligence targeting and the sophisticated weaponry that gives them longer ranges than they normally have.
	And this is why Putin, having believed and concluded that the outcome of the conflict in Ukraine is an existential issue for him personally and for Russia and the Russian security Right?
	The way that they have defined it.
	That is why he's thinking.
	And my assessment is that there's about 30% a little more chance that he will actually go ahead and do that.
	Use it tactically.
	And the fact that the significance of the first time in 77 years actually mobilizing conscripts, that's not a good sign for him, is it?
	No, it's absolutely not, but it's not really going to be saving the situation at this time, right?
	Because we're talking mobilization.
	It's going to make an effect maybe in a few months, but it does show that Crazy Vlad has a long-term vision for this conflict.
	The conflict is not going to go anywhere.
	And a long-term commitment, because this is the history of the Russian meat grinder, when you understand that mass or quantity has a quality all of its own.

	If you look at, what is it, the 27, 28 members of NATO, the highest commitment of aid to Ukraine by members of NATO as a percentage of GDP are the Baltic states and Poland.
	Isn't that interesting?
	The states that were under the boot of the Soviet Union or invaded themselves, they're the ones helping out the Ukraine the most.
	Isn't that telling?
	Absolutely, and it's always been that way, Sebastian.
	Even when I was in the community, you know, the people who are very responsive and helpful, they assist us, you know, tremendously because they are right there in the theater, if you will go.
	They get it.

	And not Germany, right?

	Germany is in bed with Moscow, with Gerhard Schröder being one of the CEOs of Gazprom.

	But first, not nuking America because he's not insane.

	But what scenarios under which could Putin consider using low threshold, low yield tactical nukes?
	Give us some examples.
	So we're exactly right now in this scenario, Sebastian, for which, on Putin's orders, this doctrine was developed in the first place.
	Escalate to de-escalate.
	The scenario is this.
	Putin is losing on the battlefield.
	And he is cornered.
	The issue with Ukraine is an existential issue for Putin himself personally and his legacy because he deems himself as Peter the Great or Catherine the Great. - The new czar. - The new czar who will gather the lands again and make Russia great again, if you will.
	And also, Russia has defined Ukraine and the rest of the former Soviet states, minus the Baltics, that's an important caveat, as part of Russia's strategic security perimeter on which Russia relied for centuries, the doctrine being Trading territory for enemy's blood.
	What does it mean?
	With the, you know, they always protect the heartland, right?
	With the Baltics joining NATO, the distance between Moscow and St.
	Petersburg and the nearest natal force has reduced from 1,300 miles to 300 miles.
	So this is his buffer or his concept of near abroad.
	Exactly.
	This is his version of the Monroe Doctrine, which obviously we don't recognize.
	We haven't recognized that for decades we're pursuing a bipartisan long-term policy If you remember from your times in the White House, the NSDD, the National Security Decision Directive 75 and 238, that says that we will do everything possible to prevent the emergence of another hostile power, such, and by that we mean Russia or China,
	Emerging as a dominant player in Eurasia, and that's left over from the Soviet days.
	We are still operating under that presumption because if Ukraine falls under Putin's control, then what's next?
	Obviously, the Baltics are concerned that they are next.
	So this is why Putin is doing what he is doing, and the Biden administration is committed to helping Ukraine.
	But my concern is that our administration is not prepared for the possibility that Putin actually will launch a low-yield nuclear strike.
	Why will he do it?
	A, it's low yield, it's one-third. - We need to get this lady back.
	She actually knows her geopolitics.

	You know, it's incredible that this administration continues to just be as toned up as they are.

	Well, look, I mean, the Consumer Price Index came out last week, which measures what the inflation levels are, and it's still showing 8.3% year over year, which means we're paying more for everything from energy to groceries, milk, gas, you name it.
	We're all paying a lot more for these goods.
	Month over month, if you look at the two months, they're about 8.3%, 8.4%.
	Instead of the administration just acknowledging we still have exorbitantly high inflation as a result of their reckless spending, the president goes on 60 Minutes and says, inflation is flat.
	Inflation is flat.
	It's just complete denial.
	And that's fine when you're the president of the United States.
	And you're a multi-millionaire, and inflation doesn't really affect you.
	But inflation is an enormous tax on our small businesses, on the poor, and on the middle class, who can't afford to make ends meet every month.
	And so to hear this president just absolutely be dishonest on national TV, it just, it doesn't make any sense, but it's consistent with what they have done since the day they walked into the administration.

	Detransitioner should be a word that doesn't exist in our language.

	Sometimes there's a topic that makes me think, as the host of a show that pumps out 15 hours of content every week, that all of it should be about that issue.
	Now sometimes there are those things that so gut-punch you, you say, yeah, nothing else really matters, this is it.
	This is one of those issues that makes me think, well, we should talk about this every single day.
	A detransitioner is somebody who, as a child, or as an adult, was convinced to change their sex, was given puberty blockers, chemically castrated, and then, with the aid of doctors,
	that have foresworn the Hippocratic Oath and everything that stands for were mutilated.
	Had their sexual organs removed or their breasts removed and were told, oh you're a boy now or you're a girl now.
	I hate to share with you a video from Chloe Cole who was confused at the age of 12 and told her parents I want to be a boy.
	Instead of saying, oh that's cute, just wait till you're an adult to see whether you're just a tomboy or whether you're a lesbian.
	Doctors mutilated her and quote-unquote transitioned her.
	Now she can never have children.
	She's a young woman still.
	Reverted, if you want, but she was never a man or a boy.
	And she's brave.
	And this is just a very, very, very, very small part of Chloe's story.
	Over the past decade, there has been as high as a 4,000% increase in children being referred to so-called gender clinics across the United States.
	I was one of these children.
	My name is Chloe Cole, and I am an 18-year-old former transgender child.
	I transitioned from the age of 12 up until 16, when I realized it all was a lie.
	My story is a cautionary tale.
	Children and parents across the country have been caught off guard by gender ideology.
	Discussions about transgenderism and gender identity went from being a relatively benign social oddity to a doctrine that has invaded nearly every academic, medical, and educational institution seemingly overnight.
	How did we get to this point?
	How did we get to the point where nearly every pediatric institution in the country considers it best practice to remove the healthy breast tissue of children while administering drugs typically used to chemically castrate high-risk sex offenders Raising these important questions is not bigoted, and the refusal of activists to give straightforward answers should be seen as a major red flag.
	People across the entire political spectrum who believe that this practice is morally wrong have been told that they are fascists or bigots for even questioning this atrocity.
	Others have been convinced by self-proclaimed gender specialists that this is the only treatment that will not end in your child committing suicide.
	I believe Americans deserve to know the truth about this radical and perverse ideology marketed as necessary and life-saving healthcare I was only 12 years old when I told my parents that I was a boy.
	Like many parents in that situation, they didn't have a clue what to do.
	They were scared and desperate for answers.
	They wanted what every parent wants for their child.
	For me to be okay and thrive.
	At 13 years old, on the advice of so-called medical professionals, I was put on puberty-blocking medication.
	And only a month later, I was given my first testosterone injection.
	The gender clinic presented my parents with the classic false dichotomy regarding children with gender dysphoria.
	Would you rather have a dead daughter or a living son?
	Giving these options.
	What loving parent wouldn't choose to transition their child?
	Scared for my life.
	My parents were prepared to sign anything the doctors asked.
	This was not informed consent.
	It was a decision forced under extreme duress.
	At 15, I went under the knife for a radical double mastectomy.
	The kind that breast cancer patients get.
	This was after I was sexually assaulted at school by a male student.
	I just told myself to man up, but I lived my life in constant hatred of my breasts.
	I started binding, which deformed my breasts as well as my ribcage.
	I was afraid, and I couldn't wait to finally protect my body from the threat of further molestation.
	At 16, I finally realized what happened to me, and that I had made a huge mistake.
	I realized the beauty of motherhood was stolen from me by medical professionals who my family entrusted me to.
	I realized after maturing a bit more that a child does not in fact know who they are at 12 years old.
	I realized that I wanted to be what I always was and forever will be.
	A woman.
	With this realization came a series of challenges that were far worse than the transition.
	Somehow, I had to get myself off these drugs and tell everyone in my entire life that I was not who I said I was.
	My parents were shocked and felt like they failed me on every level imaginable.
	My friends all turned against me because I was evidence that their beliefs were a lie.
	I was a joke.
	I was a fraud.
	I was many years behind in development, incapable of feeding my future children, and worst of all, completely alone.
	Even the medical professionals who got me into this mess now have no idea what to do with me, and they refuse to help me.
	It almost killed me, as it has killed many who regret transition.
	As it has killed many who regret transition.
	I guess I should apologize for doing this on, you know, afternoon radio, drive time, lunchtime radio.
	But I'm not going to apologize.
	Because this is the devil's work.
	Mutilating a 15-year-old girl.
	If a criminal did that to an abducted child, they should be given the chair.
	Firing squad.
	Killed slowly.
	Yes, slowly.
	I said it.
	But it's being done in hospitals.
	It's being done by people who call themselves doctors.
	Oh, and by the way, the hospital makes $40,000 per mutilation.
	That's without the drugs.
	The continual drugs they will have to take for the rest of their lives to artificially try and produce male hormonal blood levels in a biological woman.
	Or female hormonal levels in the blood of a male.
	Because you can't change your chromosomes.
	From the moment of conception, original and unique genetic identity is created that cannot be changed.
	From the moment of conception, a new life is created with a DNA set that no one else in the world will have.
	And it can't be changed from male to female or female to male.
	So, what those doctors are doing, what those parents are doing isn't just evil, it's a lie.
	It is an utter fabrication.
	And it results in a rate of suicide that no other sector of society has.
	Forty percent plus have suicidal ideation after transition.
	Why wouldn't you?
	It doesn't change you.
	It doesn't magically make you happy to have scars on your chest for the rest of your life.
	How would it make you happy to realize that as a woman you can never have a child and you, you decided to make yourself sterile At the age of 12, and your parents said, ooh, isn't that lovely?
	Yes, let's affirm your psychosis.
	I know we have to choose our battles.
	I'm not sure.
	But perhaps this is just one illustration of why the truth matters.
	And why you need to fight for it every single day.
	Tell the truth every day.
	Stand up for the weakest and the most vulnerable.
	Because that's our job.

	I'm familiar with, my parents escaped communism, but your team tied it together to the NAACP versus Booker T, the plight of black America, and that it was as if you, the black community, were the petri dish that was used to inject socialism into America, and I haven't seen that done before.
	Absolutely.
	The Soviets figured out that race relations is the nerve, the raw spot of America.
	And if they can throw salt in that, if they can irritate that, they can pit black people against black people, white people against white people, and have people believing, despite the overwhelming evidence that racism has never been a less formidable obstacle right now,
	Despite all that evidence, you've got normal, rational people in the media, in big tech, in academia, in Hollywood, all talking about how systemically racist America is, even after, as you pointed out, America is the only majority white country that's ever voted for a black person to lead it and reelected this black person to lead it.
	So the whole point is, We have gone from a righteous movement demanding equal rights to an unrighteous movement demanding equal outcomes, none of which we're entitled to.
	But they've convinced black people that you can't make it in America.
	No matter how hard you work, the man is going to strike you down.
	Oh, yeah, we had a civil rights movement.
	Oh, yeah, Barack Obama got elected.
	But don't think that that's anything that anybody else can do.

	So you have, you've got this article, I haven't read it yet, I think it's literally just published today, but you have a new book out and I just want to read the full title so you can explain why you gave it that full title.
	So it's called Overrun and the subtitle is How Joe Biden Unleashed the Greatest Border Crisis in U.S.
	History.
	Now that's not just a way to sell books, that is just an empirical statement, it's just math, correct?
	That's correct.
	You know, listen, if you want to get past partisanship, go to the CBP Customs and Border Protection website and look at their statistics.
	We just passed 2.15 million apprehensions in a single fiscal year.
	But let's stop there.
	So 2.1 million in a fiscal year under a Biden.
	You said the word apprehensions.
	Now, number one, It's not an apprehension, because they let them go.
	And number two, 2.1 million, that we know of, correct Tom?
	Well, there are probably an additional million gotaways.
	So the numbers are just astounding.
	I mean, we haven't had numbers like this in any time in U.S.
	history.
	This is a place beyond all American experience.
	We have just, even this blows Ellis Island away.
	This is the greatest immigration event in the US history, even taking into account population differences from, you know, in the early 20th century to now.
	And this is illegal immigration.
	This is just over the southern border.
	Ellis Island at least was legal like we understood what we were doing and we knew who they were at least somewhat and testing them for different Diseases and we didn't like they didn't hit our criteria.
	We would send them back on on the ships And we knew who they were in this case we have probably four million Apprehensions at the border and of those four million in just just two fiscal years Just two fiscal years under Joe Biden.
	But the number that have actually been ushered into the country by the administration is about 1.3 million in the last 18 months and then another 1 million got away.
	So we're looking at about a population growth of illegal immigrants of 2.5 million in 18 months.
	This is just astounding.
	I mean, in a typical year, we'll have maybe 400,000, never more than 500,000 in the 2010s.
	So now we're looking at, yeah.
	So let me ask you, follow him please, Benzmann, Todd ordered the book today.

	As a legal immigrant to the United States, it's even more galling as somebody who got in line.

	Eric, we'll work into the book as we go But first things first, given the phrase American Church being in the title, I want to get your response to my sadness.
	I am an optimist.
	I chose this nation.
	I think all Americans are by dint of being American optimists.
	But if I look at the last two years of COVID, I see a nation, I see a civilization betrayed by our churches.
	I'm a cradle Catholic, it doesn't matter what denomination, but I see church leadership basically absent.
	Is that too tough?
	Sebastian, that is literally the whole point of this book.
	It's the shortest book I've ever written.
	I'm convinced, unfortunately, it's the most important book I've ever written.
	It is precisely to what You just said my thesis is that the way the church is behaving today is precisely as the German church behaved in the 30s.
	It is an abdication of its duty to God and to its fellow man to speak the truth and to be bold.
	And the question is, what was it that made the German church behave in that way?
	Because it is precisely the way the American church has behaved.
	So you put your finger on the issue.
	I lay the blame of where we are in America today.
	Well, I'm not sure that makes me feel better, but at least we have a starting point.
	So, Eric, let's begin with the title.
	Like any good discussion, you've got to clear the terms.
	The first chapter of the book is, What is the Church?
	Let's just return to this question.
	It started off with twelve men who Had their leader, their rabbi, the son of God murdered by the state?
	It became the most powerful force for good on the earth.
	What is the way in the 21st century?
	We have to understand the word church, Eric.
	Well, when I say letter to the American church, to some extent I'm speaking principally to my fellow born-again believers, evangelicals.
	Of course, this applies to anyone who would call himself a Christian.
	You are the church.
	If you say, I am a Christian, you are the church.
	But to give you hope, Sebastian, I wrote the book.
	I felt a compulsion.
	I don't say this kind of thing lightly.
	If anybody knows me, I wouldn't say it lightly, but I felt a compulsion from God to write this book.
	I believe God He wanted me to write this book.
	I had a bizarre confirmation.
	I was going to write the book already and I was going to privately print it because I said, I just want to get this urgent message to pastors that if you wake up and speak up now, we will avert the disaster that the Germans did not avert because of their silence.
	If we can reach those people.
	And so I said, I'm gonna write this book as fast as I can.
	I'm going to publish it myself.
	Never done that before.
	And I had a meeting with my publisher, Salem.
	Okay.

	Because I do feel the urgency that if people who claim to be Christian will behave as though they believe what they claim to believe.
	It's very easy to say.
	I believe.
	You know, I wrote about it in Luther.
	He says it's about faith.
	It's faith.
	Faith is meaningless unless it's real faith.
	So James, in his epistle, says faith without works is dead.
	I was going to title that the title of the book instead of letter to the American church.
	If you claim somehow to believe, but don't behave as though you believe it, if you fear death, if you shrink from saying something because you fear you could lose parishioners if you're a pastor, or you could lose friends.
	You are not behaving as though you actually believe what it says.
	And God is depending on His Church to behave as though we believe He defeated death on the cross, and He has given us the duty to speak His truth on every subject.
	So when somebody says, don't be political, that's political, let's just stick to faith.
	That's nonsense.
	In fact, it's diabolical nonsense.
	It was used by the Nazis to silence the church, and it has been used by evil forces to silence the church in America right now.
	So I am cautiously, very cautiously optimistic.
	All right, we'll talk about the lessons learned from the German church.
	You are the preeminent expert on Bonhoeffer.
	We'll talk about what is the cause of all this.
	But first, let's jump to the actual ideal case scenario.
	What should our churches have done?
	What should our priests and pastors have done in the last two years that they didn't do?
	Let's start with the corrective.
	Well, first of all, you say the last two years.
	The last two years is only, in a sense, the manifestation of the reality.
	This was the test case, and we saw the Church really show cowardice, show fear of the state, show a tremendous ignorance of who they're supposed to be.
	We're supposed to be the conscience of the state.
	We're not supposed to do whatever the state tells us to do and jump through hoops like trained poodles.
	We are to be fierce.
	And so when they said, shut down, we should have immediately said, excuse me, you know, you you have no right and you will not dare to tell us to shut down.
	We know how essential it is what we do.
	Where do you think we are in China, perhaps?
	But the church really did exactly, Sebastian, what the church did in Germany.
	They said, OK, OK, whatever we need to do so you won't bother us, we don't want any trouble.
	So heroic pastors, a handful of them across the country, whether it's Jack Hibbs or or Rob McCoy, or there's a host of them, they stood up bravely.
	Che Ahn, many of them in San Francisco, Greg Locke, so many of them did, but most of them did not.
	So the first thing that really was the astonishing evidence that they're willing to go along to stay out of trouble, which is your first, in a sense, your first hint of cowardice or confusion.
	That ought to be the moment that the church rose en masse and said, absolutely not.
	How dare you?
	try to tell us what we ought to do.
	By the way, the Nazis tried to do that with the church in Germany in the 30s.
	We recognize this as evil.
	We're not going to comply.
	We don't want to go down that path.
	But the American church didn't learn the lesson of Bonhoeffer, didn't learn the lesson of what the German church did.
	It is why I wrote this book, because I said it is scandalous is too kind a word.
	It will be a tragedy of the greatest historic proportions if the American church does not rise up and speak on any of the issues that you and I know.
	What the issue is, is almost irrelevant.
	The possibility of election fraud, the possibility that the vaccines are not a good thing.
	I mean, any controversial issue to say that, oh, we mustn't speak about that.
	We're just going to speak about theological issues.
	We're deputized by God to bring him and his truth into every sphere.
	So this lie that we're supposed to, quote unquote, stick to the gospel, you hear this over and over among evangelicals.
	And you think, where did that idea come from?
	That's not a biblical idea.
	And by the way, historically, when William Wilberforce spoke against slavery and the slave trade, he was not sticking to theological issues in the quote-unquote gospel.
	He was speaking truth because he cared about those who were suffering.
	When Bonhoeffer spoke up, he spoke because he cared about those who were suffering.
	So we have many people in churches, leaders, who are theologically confused.
	And I said, I've got to write this book in order to help them see That their confusion is precisely the confusion of the German church in the 30s.
	And these were many good people who were confused.
	They did not know they were opening the door to the devil.
	So let me jump, given what you've said in your book, given the comparison to the 1930s in Germany.
	There's a friend of the show, Gina Carano, who's an accomplished actor.
	She's in the new A movie, Terror on the Prairie, who was in Disney in one of their most successful shows of late, who was fired by Disney because she posted on Instagram something to do with Germany in the 1930s.
	She said it didn't begin with the death camps.
	It didn't begin with the final solution.
	It began by Germans dehumanizing their neighbors, which is in fact a statement of empirical history.
	Let's just look at somebody who wasn't doing it in the 1930s but was doing it about three weeks ago in Philadelphia.
	This is a man who sadly bears the title President of the United States.
	Play cut!
	Too much of what's happening in our country today is not normal.
	Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans represent an extremism that threatens the very foundations of our Republic.
	But there's no question The Republican Party today is dominated, driven, and intimidated by Donald Trump and the MAGA Republicans.
	And that is a threat to this country.
	So Eric, you're not just writing this book because you're obsessed with Germany in the 1930s or you're an expert on Bonhoeffer.
	It is fair to say when you have a president for the first time in our republic's history demonize 74 million Americans, we are witnessing history repeat itself now here in America, correct?
	Listen, there's no doubt There is no doubt about it.
	And I understand why some people would be challenged to believe that.
	Let's put the cards on the table.
	Biden and his administration have behaved despicably, despicably.
	And for any American not to speak against it is scandalous.
	But for those who dare to call themselves Christians, not to speak against this wickedness, it's wickedness on every level.
	We're not just talking about one issue or two issues.
	The whole approach is as reminiscent of what we saw in Germany.
	What he said, I mean, these satanic lies.
	I've never seen anyone lie quite in the way that he did in the very place.
	It's so sick.
	In the place where they signed the Declaration of Independence, where they wrote the Constitution.
	There's a wickedness there, and I think we have to call it what it is, and we have to stand against it.
	And the reason I wrote the book, Sebastian, is because I know, I don't expect people, when you mention Hitler and the Nazis, just to take that seriously.
	They can't bear the comparison.
	So I said, I have to write a book.
	It's a short book, but I have to explain precisely how this happened.
	And in retrospect, it's very strange.
	I believe God called me to write my Bonhoeffer book to prepare us for this moment.
	Well, explain what was it in your life?
	Was there an event?
	Was there a trigger that made you... was it just observation or did you experience something that made you feel, God is calling me now to write this book?
	I had a sense.
	I mean, the way sometimes God speaks to me, it's not very dramatic, but certain thoughts kept coming up over and over that I would say in speeches I'm giving or if I'm giving a sermon in a church or doing an interview, I would say these things.
	And at some point, it just occurred to me, my goodness, I must write this because there are I'm sure many, many thousands of Christian leaders, much less Christians, who have been deceived by the siren song.
	Don't be political.
	Just stick to your little theology.
	This is what Hitler said.
	Literally, Hitler said to Martin Niemöller, a hero, a military hero in the First World War, who became a pastor, he said to him, you stick to your sermons.
	In other words, we don't have religious liberty here.
	We run the show.
	And you just do your little religious thing, just like they say in China, right?
	You go into your little building and do your little ritual, but when you come out, you will bow to the secular authority of the state.
	This is happening in America.
	It's been happening.
	It didn't just happen in the last six months or in the last two years.
	It's been happening, but now you're seeing it in bold, bright lines and colors.
	It is very dramatic.
	And if I didn't feel the urgency, I mean, I've been speaking about these things for some time, I've never seen the urgency, because it is as though we were in Germany in the early 30s.
	The Church had a chance.
	This is what Bonhoeffer knew.
	It's why he was so strong.
	He knew that the Church spoke up.
	They would avert the horror, the diabolical horror of what was to follow.
	But the church said, not yet, not yet.
	We don't want to be political.
	We don't want to be political.
	We want to be, you know, we want to be evangelistic.
	Well, let me tell you something.
	Nothing draws people to faith in Jesus more than courage and more than clarity.
	So let me ask you, why do you have a chapter in the book, Eric, that is titled The Idol of Evangelism?
	Right.
	Well, that's the whole thing.
	It's like I became an evangelical, you know, around my 25th birthday.
	The first time I discovered My goodness, all these people call themselves Christians, but they're not sharing their faith.
	There's nothing more important than believing these things are true.
	Nothing more important than sharing your faith in any way you can.
	It's the greatest news in the history of the world.
	But what happens when you take this great thing, any good thing, and you push it too far?
	You make an idol of it, just like loving my wife, loving my daughter, loving my parents.
	I make an idol of it.
	It replaces God, and I say, You know what?
	When it comes to evangelism, if God asks me to say something unpleasant that might be divisive, I'm just going to say, no, no, no.
	I'm just going to preach the gospel.
	I just want to do evangelism.
	I don't want to say anything that might push someone away politically.
	We have people in our church or in our neighborhood that they may disagree.
	I will avoid those topics.
	That is why the German church shut its mouth with regard to the evil of the Nazis In the 30s, they had a nice theological reason, and Barcliffe called them out on it.
	He said he was disgusted by the theologically based restraint, which was in fact nothing but fear.
	He knew it.
	But they create this idea that, oh, no, no, no, we care about souls.
	And the thing, who can argue with that?
	We're supposed to care about souls.
	But the point is, there are people suffering issues.
	If you don't speak up for the Jew going to Treblinka and Auschwitz, what right do you have to talk about some gospel that you purport to believe in and share with people?
	That's the bottom line.
	Right.

	This is just the latest iteration of a longer problem.
	Talk to us, Eric Metaxas, about the significant events in, sadly, our Republic's journey towards a... It's more than post-Christian.
	It's anti-Christian thought, isn't it?
	That's correct.
	It is anti-Christian thought.
	And the thing is, The diabolical nature of what's coming out of the mouths of some of these people.
	I don't know whether they actually believe these things.
	They may well believe these things.
	But when you hear Biden or Fauci dare to talk about democracy being threatened, it is utterly diabolical.
	It's like goebbels talking about it or President Xi of China.
	They couldn't care less, manifestly, about democracy or about liberty or about the founders' vision.
	But they say these things specifically to demonize those with whom they disagree.
	That is wicked.
	And I'll tell you something.
	One of the reasons I wrote this book, Letter to the American Church, frankly, is because many in the church have participated in demonizing those Christians We have had evangelical elites demonizing them.
	Russell Moore, now the head of Christianity Today, which once was a great magazine, he wrote an article about the time that I was writing this book.
	I was absolutely astonished.
	Where he was participating in demonizing those who believe we need to fight for our country, we need to fight to restore biblical values, whatever it is.
	He made it sound like it's mere culture warring, it's mere, it's a power play.
	These people don't care about the gospel.
	So these are these lies that are really, I say, genuinely diabolical because they mix in Christian lingo as though they care about these things.
	And millions have been deceived, Sebastian.
	There's a book put out recently by Andy Stanley, gigantic pastor in the Atlanta area, saying essentially the exact opposite of what I said, that don't get involved politically, you'll push people away from the truth.
	So when you point out to these people, Eric, that everything, everything, the founders of the church, the original apostles, the disciples did, was political and that's why they ended up being executed, crucified, upside down, beheaded.
	What do these people say when you point out that martyrs were political actors as much as they were spiritual?
	I'm curious.
	Well, look, I think that a lot of times these terms become useless.
	I mean, if somebody says, you're being political, my question would be like, first of all, what?
	And then, so what?
	What do you mean?
	If I stand against evil, if I stand against slavery, if I stand against anything wrong, why do you need to label it?
	I am speaking out of my Christian conviction.
	By the way, there are many good pagans in America, good patriots, who seem to see these things more clearly than a lot of the Christian elite, which is why I believe if you actually care about evangelism and drawing people to Jesus, you better speak the truth.
	If you're going to play this game of avoiding these hot-button topics, imagine trying to raise your kids in this world where you have transgender madness out of hell, being pushed on little children And you don't speak up.
	You don't speak up at the school board meeting.
	You don't speak up from the pulpit as a pastor.
	Do you not think people would be attracted to heroic Christians speaking bravely about the truth, offering real solutions and saying, that's wrong, and we know this is wrong, and we'll stand with you against this madness?
	So, I really think the Church is losing a tremendous opportunity.
	And again, of course, it's mostly the elites.
	And I think that those who have followed suit, who are being quiet, they need to understand that there's a different perspective.
	And it's why I wrote the book letter to the American Church, because I said, you don't have, in many Christian circles, you either have silence or you have people advocating silence on these issues.
	It's theologically horribly wrong, and I've got to help my fellow Christians understand, it's not just that you have permission to speak the truth on these issues, you have an obligation.
	God looks to His Church just as He did in Germany, and just as the German Church was silent and led to hell on earth, the Church today is being silent and needs to change immediately.
	It's called repentance.
	Let me just translate that into layman's speak for the swamp.
	If you're not politically active, you're not actually a Christian.
	Sorry.
	Being Christian isn't just about going to Sunday Mass or baking some cookies for the bake sale.
	If you're not actively involved in the political life, like the founders of the church were Guess what?
	You're not a Christian.

	Eric, how does Tim Keller's third wave fit into all of this?
	Explain the relationship.
	I actually write about him in this book, and I deal with this because I love Tim Keller.
	He wrote the foreword to my Bonhoeffer book.
	His third way was correct.
	For a long time, it made sense.
	It is no longer correct because circumstances have changed, and if you're not alive to the circumstances, you're being blind, and that's exactly what happened in the German First World War.
	So explain what the third way was and why it no longer obtains.
	Basically, it would be the idea of saying that, listen, here's maybe a conservative view of things, kind of like a legalistic view of things.
	That's not the gospel.
	Here's a liberal view that says, do whatever you like.
	That's not the gospel.
	In the middle, here is the gospel.
	In other words, he created this rubric where he was able to explain to people how you can go wrong on the left, how you can go wrong on the right, and the gospel is truth in the middle.
	For the longest time, that made sense.
	With the advent of Obama and up till now, things have been changing so dramatically that that is no longer the case.
	We no longer have a Democratic Party with Bill Clinton or Sam Nunn or Tip O'Neill.
	We now have wicked forces, whether it's Kamala Harris or any of these folks, they have opened the door to something not just un-American, but fundamentally And if you do not see that and speak about that from the pulpit, wherever you are, you are missing the moment we're in.
	atheistic doctrines and big state thinking that is the enemy of every single American.
	And if you do not see that and speak about that from the pulpit, wherever you are, you are missing the moment we're in.
	And as I say, what I try to say in the book is that Bonhoeffer saw this clearly in the thirties and try to get the church to see things have changed.
	Whatever was working 10 years ago, we have moved on.
	And if you don't get it and speak up quickly, we're going to lose everything.
	They dismissed him as a hothead, as an intellectual.
	What does he know?
	We know he was right.
	We know, magically, they didn't listen.
	He couldn't have been more right.
	And if you think that can't happen in America, let me tell you, not only can it happen, it is happening now.
	And unless we heed the voice of Bonhoeffer, which is really the voice of God for this situation, we will go down that path.
	It's why you hear the urgency in my voice.
	I could not be more serious and more grieved than I am right now.
	But I'm hopeful.
	I believe God called me to write the book for his purposes.
	I believe God's hand is still on this nation.
	But we in the church mostly have to take this extremely seriously and live out our faith.
	Utterly.
	Alright, so what is your tactic?
	What advice do you give to those who are maybe of a younger generation, see themselves as Christian but have been indoctrinated with the, you know, the AOC brand of crypto-socialism that, you know, it's equity, it's equality, it's being caring.
	How does someone who says they're a Christian, how do you bring them back from that brink of big government and loss of our civil liberties?
	Well, that's the point.
	You certainly don't need to be a Christian to understand this.
	If you care about the poor, you will speak against socialism night and day, because socialism will crush the poor.
	This is a fact.
	It's an historical fact.
	Now, when you see big government or any kind of socialism or any kind of redistributive efforts, they will crush those who are suffering.
	So the point is, it's like you just have to do the math and see it doesn't help the poor.
	You are right to care about the poor.
	We're commanded to care about the poor.
	How you care about the poor makes all the difference.
	And what is being pushed by the left today is crushing the poor.
	And I speak against Critical race theory against any kind of cultural Marxism, any kind of economic Marxism.
	Why?
	Because we are commanded to love the poor.
	We're commanded to love the marginalized.
	That's how I love the marginalized, by knowing what will help them and speaking about it, even though I'm being told, oh no, you shouldn't speak about that.
	I don't care what people are going to tell me.
	I know that I have a duty before God to speak that truth.
	So tell us why.
	You told us what should have happened in the last couple of years, especially under COVID.
	Tell us why it didn't happen.
	Why did people like me see my church leaders just totally genuflect at the altar of big government, fascists like Fauci.
	Why did that happen, Eric?
	There are many reasons it happened.
	It happened principally because we in America are profoundly spoiled.
	We've been so blessed that we have no idea that freedom costs something, and being a Christian costs something, and God wants it to cost something.
	He wants us to use our whole lives to act out what we claim to believe.
	We forgot that.
	We got very soft.
	in this nation and those who have parents as you and I do who suffered under communism and saw that evil, we are much less inured to evil in the world.
	We know it's real and we say we've got to do something about it, but we've just been blessed like crazy in this country and it takes, I actually believe that what happened, it's Romans 8:28, All the horrors that have happened in the end are a blessing because they are waking people up who would otherwise still be asleep, who are waking up even now, realizing I was blind.
	I need to see what is happening.
	I need to tell my neighbors what is happening.
	If these horrors hadn't emerged, We would have the church more asleep than it is.
	I believe there are people waking up, a holy remnant of people are waking up.
	People who don't believe in Jesus are waking up and thinking like, hey, how come those Christians are being so brave?
	I want to go to that church.
	And how come those Christians are being such cowards?
	I'm glad I never went to that church.
	This is happening in our time.
	So I, as I say, I'm cautiously optimistic and hopeful.

	Do you agree with me that this could be the most significant issue to bring people back to the one true faith?
	Yes, I do.
	And I tell you, Sebastian, the reason I wrote this book letter to the American church is because I believe there are people who can be reached.
	Many people listening right now can think of someone who says, I'm a Christian.
	I don't want to be political.
	I think all these people are seeing things get so bad because of things like the transgender madness.
	You can look in any direction, but that's one of the classic horrors of our time, where people who ordinarily would keep their mouths shut are starting to look around and think, this can't be right.
	This can't be right.
	They're looking for leadership.
	And if it doesn't come from the church, my goodness, we ought to be as bold as possible on these issues if we care about saving souls, if we care about saving the Republic.
	So, as I say, I'm trying to reach those who are waffling, who say, well, I believe these things, but I don't know if I can speak about it here, here, here.
	My point is to say, if you don't, we're dead.
	This is our opportunity.
	Let's not be like the German church, which we have been, but let's repent and change immediately, please.

	Well, I would say if you go to a church where they are not taking leadership on these issues, they shrink from being quote-unquote political, you need to understand that's like being in a church that is a little bit pro-Nazi.

	You need to get out of that church.
	Or at the very least, you could share my book with the pastor, and if the pastor is not himself convicted into changing his tune, find another church.
	It is vital, folks, that we get around people who understand where we are and what the stakes are.
	And the siren song of, just be nice, don't bring those things up, that's the safest path Recognize that as the voice of the devil.
	We are in a time right now where if you are not in the fight somehow doing something at least hanging around people who are If anybody says to you, just be nice, don't be, because the founding fathers of this nation weren't nice, and the founders of our civilization, remember?
