Well, as a native San Franciscan and someone who's lived there all his life, I can tell you that in the last 25 years, it's been a steady decline.
The homeless problem, it's everywhere in the city.
But what has taken over the homeless encampments is the drug addiction.
Open on the streets, they're shooting up.
Drug exchanges, sales, use...
Within the shadow of those buildings, the FBI sits up on a floor at the federal building on Golden Gate Avenue in their offices.
They're 100 feet from the actual sales of the drugs that are going on on Larkin Street.
And there's no end in sight.
And there's no cures. | |
The city of San Francisco, in the budget, is $648 million for homelessness programs.
There's another $300 million in that budget to accommodate the homeless problem.
That's almost a billion dollars of taxpayer money.
We've been here for 30 years watching this.
It's progressively worse.
And the money is spent. | |
Where's the results? | |
It's worse today than it was 30 years ago.
And you keep spending and spending and spending. |
