Study Finds Natural Immunity Gives 6X Protection Versus Shots; 80% Less Severe Cases | Facts Matter

Good evening.
Last week, a new study came out of Israel, which was a fairly large study.
It looked at about two-thirds of the entire population of the country, and it found that the people with natural immunity were about six times less likely to get infected with COVID than people who were exclusively vaccinated.
And this is, of course, only the latest in about 137 different studies which came to very similar conclusions.
And it's exactly against the backdrop of this reality that has a group of senators pushing through a bill called the Natural Immunity Israel Act, which, as the name suggests, would have the federal government recognize people with natural immunity.
Let's go through it all together.
This is your daily Facts Matter update, and I'm your host, Roman, from the Epoch Times.
And now let's begin today's discussion by talking about natural immunity.
According to a new study, which just came out of Israel, the immunity that people develop after recovering from an actual COVID infection is, in fact, far superior to the protection that comes exclusively from vaccines.
Now, I should mention that this shouldn't be confused with the other study, which also came out of Israel a few months ago, which found that natural immunity was up to 13 times stronger than vaccine protection.
This right here is a different study, which although came to a very similar conclusion.
And in this study, the researchers analyzed the data which came from Israel's health database between August to September of 2021.
And they found that both in terms of the number of COVID infections as well as the number of severe cases of COVID, they were both significantly higher among the vaccinated compared to those who had natural immunity.
To be specific, here's the data that the researchers uncovered.
When looking at the infection rates, they found that the naturally immune people had a 10.5 per 100,000 infection rate That's compared to a 69.2 per 100,000 infection rate among the vaccinated people.
Meaning that among this cohort of people that they were looking at, those who were exclusively vaccinated were over six times more likely to get COVID than those who were naturally immune.
And then furthermore, when you look at the instances of severe cases of COVID, you find a very similar pattern.
Because among the naturally immune people, only about 0.5% of those COVID cases were classified as being severe.
However, among the vaccinated people, 0.9% of all COVID cases were considered severe, which is a pretty significant difference.
It's in fact a difference of 80%.
And so according to this study, if you had two people who became infected with COVID, with one of them being a vaccinated individual who had a breakthrough infection, while the other person had natural immunity and then was reinfected, between these two people, the naturally immune person was 80% less likely to develop a severe infection.
Now it is worth noting that the researchers found that the protection against infection dropped over time in both of these two groups of people.
Meaning in both the naturally immune group as well as the vaccinated group, protection declines over time.
However, the researchers found that this drop was much more pronounced among the vaccinated group as well.
In fact, here is the data from their study on a visual graph.
And so the top part in red, it shows the people who have recovered from COVID and have the natural antibodies.
And so as you can see, the protection that these people have wanes over time.
And so when you look at the top of that graph of the people who have recovered from COVID between four to six months ago, their reinfection rate is only about 10 in 100,000.
However, when you work your way down the graph, when you look at the bottom for the people who have recovered from COVID a full year ago, their reinfection rate climbs all the way up to 30 in 100,000.
Which is a three-fold increase and obviously very significant.
However, take a look at the middle graph, the part in gray, which shows the efficacy of the vaccine.
According to this study, people who have gotten the vaccine within the last two months, they have an infection rate of about 21 in 100,000.
However, as time flows on, the efficacy of the vaccine drops precipitously.
In fact, when you look at the bottom, when looking at the people who were vaccinated between six to eight months ago, the infection rate is about 88 per 100,000, which is exactly the reality which is pushing more people to get the booster shots.
Because take a look at the green bar.
It shows that the people who have gotten a booster shot within the last two months, their infection rate drops all the way down to about 8 in 100,000, which is great, meaning that the people who have gotten the vaccine a long time ago Their reinfection rate climbs, but when they get the booster shot, it goes back down.
And then furthermore, the researchers also looked at the individuals who had the natural antibodies, meaning they had a previous COVID infection, they had natural immunity, but then they also went and got the vaccine.
Those are the bars in blue, and the researchers refer to this group as having hybrid immunity.
And according to their data, the people who had natural immunity and then got a subsequent vaccine, they had the lowest case rates among all the groups that they looked at.
Furthermore, as you can see in the chart, the protection that this particular group held against infection lasted longer than the other groups as well.
In fact, we here at the Epoch Times, we reached out to the professor who led this particular study, and here's what he emailed back to us in a statement.
We found that the protection against the Delta variant wanes over time for both vaccinated and previously infected individuals, and that an additional dose restores protection.
Now, just like with any other study, you do have to take into consideration certain limitations that this one held.
For instance, the researchers were only looking at the Pfizer vaccine, so this data does not apply to the other brands.
There's also the question of how many people in the vaccinated group also had natural immunity prior to getting the shot, but just never reported it.
And then thirdly, there is what researchers called detection bias, because the people with natural immunity, they are generally less likely to get tested for COVID than the people who are vaccinated.
So there are those limitations.
However, even though the data is not perfect, it is worth noting that the scale of the study can potentially make up for that.
Because the researchers, they had access to nearly 6 million people's records.
And that is fairly significant, especially in a country like Israel, which has a population of only 9 million people.
So they were looking at about two-thirds of the population.
Also, the conclusions of this new study, they do fall in line with the conclusions that many other studies conducted around the world have found as well, that natural immunity exists and is robust.
In fact, over at the Brownstone Institute website, you can find a compilation of all such studies And at this moment, there are over 137 of them.
However, the big question is with research like this, why is natural immunity being generally ignored in the national discussion?
And I do mean ignored.
For instance, if you go on over to Instagram and you try to tag something with the hashtag naturalimmunity, you can't.
Or rather...
You can, but then nobody can see it because when you click on it, here's what it says.
This hashtag is hidden.
Posts for natural immunity have been limited because the community has reported some content that may not meet Instagram's community guidelines.
Well, I guess the community has spoken.
Regardless, though, even in the real world outside of Instagram, it's pretty much the same thing.
The myriad of vaccine mandates that have sprung up across the country, they generally do not have a caveat for natural immunity.
Now, of course, all of the federal vaccine mandates, they are currently tied up in court, but in places like New York City where we filmed this program, people to this very day have to show a vaccine card in order to enter almost any establishment.
And you cannot show proof of natural immunity as a substitute for your vaccination card.
However, that is what some people in Congress are trying to change.
For instance...
Sorry.
What's this?
Well, that's a great question, Roman.
And it is today's sponsor, which is an awesome messaging and email service provider called Secure.
And it's awesome if you're the type of person that actually cares about their privacy.
Because, I mean, it's no big secret that these big tech companies are mining and remining our data all the time.
In fact, in the year 2020, it was found that over 155 million Americans, likely including you and me, have suffered some form of data breach.
And by the way, that's only what's publicly known.
However, what's happened in the past?
Well, that can stay in the past because with Secure, Your data and your messages can remain private.
And that's because Secure has all of their data centers located over in Switzerland rather than in the US or in China.
And the reason that's so important is that Switzerland has some of the strictest data privacy laws in the entire world and they are not subject to the intrusive cloud act.
And if you want to know what the cloud act is, head on over to Secure.com and watch their video on the homepage or on the video tutorials page which is under their support section.
Now the thing that I personally love the most about the Secure app is the privacy aspect of it.
They don't mine my data.
They don't mine my phone number.
They don't mine the phone numbers or data of my friends and family who I chat with.
But best of all is that if your friends and family don't actually use the secure app themselves, it doesn't matter.
Because the way that it works is that when you use their secure send email technology, All of your emails and your messages route to Switzerland, and then the recipient can reply using their secure reply technology.
And so everything remains private no matter what.
And the same actually goes for their messaging app as well.
And they're always coming up with new features.
In fact, the most recent one they told me about, they sent me an email here, was that they're coming up with a new feature called Text to Chat by Invite.
So they're an innovative company, and they really do care about your privacy.
And so what they're doing doesn't work with your existing big tech email account.
So check them out.
You can head on over to secure.com.
I'll throw the link into the description box below.
And when you use promo code Roman, you can get 25% off.
And the rates are not even that expensive to start with, by the way.
It's only $5 for the messenger and $10 for the email and messenger combo.
And they even offer a seven-day free trial.
So head on over to their website.
Again, it'll be linked in the description box below.
Use promo code Roman to save some money.
And now, Roman in the studio, back to you.
Now, some members of Congress are working to change the status quo.
For instance, Mr. Roger Marshall, who is both a senator from Kansas as well as a medical doctor himself, and he is urging the Biden administration to recognize natural immunity.
In fact, just a few days ago, during an interview on NBC News, Senator Marshall said that while he does advocate for the vaccines, he is opposed to the one-size-fits-all mandate.
Here's specifically what he said.
The CDC needs to acknowledge natural immunity.
And really, the messaging coming out of the White House has to acknowledge natural immunity and be honest with America.
Now, during that interview, the NBC host, he then came back and asked the senator whether he's actually encouraging people to get the virus rather than the vaccine.
To which the senator replied by saying this, Of course not.
But if you've had the virus, that needs to be acknowledged, and then a decision made with the patient and the doctor deciding if they should get the booster or not.
Maybe check their level of antibodies, take into account what their healthcare situation is.
A type 2 diabetic that's had the virus, I would check their level of antibodies and probably encourage them to get the booster.
But a 19-year-old Navy SEAL who has a higher chance of getting pericarditis, a heart inflammation, than going to the hospital from the virus, I probably would have a different answer.
So you cannot have a one-size-fits-all recommendation from the federal government.
Now, besides what Senator Marshall says, there is currently a piece of legislation that is making its way through Congress as we speak, and we actually did discuss it in the previous episode, although it is worth mentioning again.
Several weeks ago, a group of 11 lawmakers introduced a new piece of legislation into the House called the Natural Immunity is Real Act.
This bill, if it becomes law, will require federal agencies to acknowledge, accept, and agree to truthfully present natural immunity pertaining to COVID-19 pursuant to promulgating certain regulations.
Meaning, in plain speak, that the federal government will have to offer a caveat to people who have natural antibodies, Now, the premise of this new bill is pretty much exactly what we've been talking about so far in today's episode.
The fact that, over the past year, there have been over 100 studies which indicate that natural immunity for COVID is either as strong or, as the new study from Israel indicates, perhaps even superior to the protection offered by the vaccines alone.
However, right now, the stance that the federal government is taking doesn't really account for that.
That's because they are recommending that everyone be vaccinated, including people who have already recovered from COVID. Their argument, meaning the federal government's argument, is that the protection that you already have from natural antibodies only gets better after getting the shot, which as we saw earlier in that Israel study does have a basis in scientific research.
On the other hand though, many of the people who have already recovered from COVID and say that they have robust protection, they say that they don't want to get the shot and they feel like they are being unnecessarily coerced by the government.
And this is exactly where this new bill comes in.
Because according to Ms.
Diana Harshbarger, who is a congresswoman from Tennessee, she's a Republican and she's also the lead sponsor of this new bill, and she says that there is plenty of evidence supporting the government allowing for natural immunity exemptions.
Here's specifically what she said during an interview over on NTD News.
There's ample scientific studies that show that natural immunity is absolutely one of the best things you could have, and some studies even show that it's more effective than vaccination.
And then, going deeper into the subject, Ms.
Harshbarger, who by the way has also been a licensed pharmacist since 1987, she said that in regards to the data that she's been reading, quote, I've read some of the studies that show that natural immunity, in a lot of ways, can be more effective.
And I know there's one study that shows that the percentage of protection is even better than two doses of the vaccine in some cases.
There's ample scientific data out there that show that.
Think about it.
We have immunity against measles and smallpox, and they accept that.
Why won't they do it for COVID? And so the proposed bill would do exactly that.
It would require federal agencies to acknowledge, accept, and agree to respect natural immunity when they are formulating any of their rules.
And furthermore, it's also worth noting that this bill in the House, it already has a companion bill that has been introduced to the Senate by Senator Mike Lee from Utah.
That Senate bill, by the way, is numbered 2846 in case you want to track it for yourself.
And so, both bills are currently working their way through their respective chambers in Congress, and we'll just have to wait and see how they progress.
If you'd like to read more about the Natural Immunities Real Act, or about this study from Israel that we went over in the episode today, I'll throw all that into the description box below this video for you to check out, and all I ask in return is that you take a quick moment to smash, smash, smash that like button for the YouTube algorithm.
Since you've completed this episode of Facts Matter, I would highly recommend that you go on over to Epic TV and check out an awesome episode of American Thought Leaders where Yan sat down with a former high-ranking official from the State Department and they discuss how China, even though they are literally about to host the Winter Olympics, are actually right now in the process of committing three simultaneous genocides.
Here's a trailer for that episode.
If I learned anything in the State Department, it's follow the money.
A regime committing not one, but perhaps three genocides.
You're not supposed to look, because that then blows up the Green New Deal.
The reality is, it's a Red New Deal.
All that money goes to China.
A moral question facing many major corporations in America today.
Do you really want to rely on somebody who's stealing somebody's liver?
In this two-part episode, I sit down with Professor Robert Destro, former Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor.
He is also a law professor at the Catholic University of America's Columbus School of Law.
On the eve of Human Rights Day, we discussed threats to human rights globally, from state-sanctioned organ harvesting in China to lockdowns of the unvaccinated in Germany to COVID restrictions in the United States.
This is American Thought Leaders, and I'm Jan Jekielek.
