Trump derangement syndrome is a clever way, I guess, to dismiss legitimate concerns about someone who is at best unfit to be president of the United States.
elijah schaffer
Do you feel then that maybe you show some signs of some symptoms of TDS, perhaps?
I feel like maybe a little bit, yeah.
Welcome back to Slightly Offensive with your favorite host, me, Elijah Schaefer.
We are...
We are here at the University of Colorado in Denver, in the Rocky Mountains state of Colorado, going to talk to students today about Trump derangement syndrome.
Now, before you make a decision and you think, man, Trump derangement syndrome, what is it?
First of all, it's recognized by the orange color, which is this ribbon.
This lets people know that it's a real disease.
And actually, a prominent psychiatrist has released a study letting people know that TDS is a real disease, and we are bent on making sure the rest of Americans know that it is not Donald Trump that is their enemy, but it's their own mind that's fooling them.
Make sure you like, share, subscribe, support us at slightlyoffensive.com slash donate to keep independent media and journalism alive.
Can I stop you for a second?
So you're wearing yellow and orange.
It's a bit of an orange.
I'm wearing an orange band.
We actually kind of match.
Do you know why I'm wearing this orange ribbon?
We got orange over here.
We got orange over there.
We got orange in your bottle.
Orange on my shirt.
There's a recent study that had come out that talked about something called TDS.
Have you heard about it?
Real thing, not a joke.
Trump derangement syndrome is an actual disorder that's being characterized by fear after the election.
Do you feel like it's a true and a real thing?
Do you feel that Trump is a good or a bad thing for our country?
unidentified
Terrible.
elijah schaffer
What were your feelings and reactions when Donald Trump won the election?
unidentified
I was very shocked.
I was like, is this really happening?
I feel like a lot of us were.
And yeah, I'm still kind of like dealing with it.
I don't know.
Even though it's like halfway done already, I'm still a little scared.
Yeah.
I've had professors in the past who just, if you say anything about Donald Trump, they will either hate you or give you a bad grade.
elijah schaffer
Do you know about TDS?
unidentified
No.
elijah schaffer
Okay, so one psychiatrist talked about TDS being a syndrome called Trump derangement syndrome, where because of Trump's election, there's unnecessary fear and problems introduced into the culture that causes people to live more in an unstable state.
Do you feel like that psychiatrist is onto something or no?
Sure.
unidentified
What do you hate about Donald Trump?
He doesn't care about anyone other than him and making money and whatnot.
And his policies suck.
elijah schaffer
You know about Trump's recent executive order protecting free speech on campus, that if you report, this organization, TPUSA, actually has a professor watch list.
So if your professor is violating the Constitution and limiting your free speech, TPUSA has a list that you can put the professor up and they can report incidences so that the government actually has a way to limit funds to universities that don't protect free speech.
Do you feel like on this campus people are generally hostile or positive when you mention Trump's name?
unidentified
F Trump, bro.
You can't necessarily blame individuals that are, you know, manipulated by media and think that everything they read is necessarily truth and they don't necessarily do their own research.
You're not on s.
You don't even know what the hell you're talking about half the time.
So, I mean, I feel like we fed up in this election.
Honestly, it's kind of a mixed bag.
I grew up here.
This state used to be pretty moderate and pretty much a swing state.
Now it's become very, since the first Obama administration, it's become very, very left-leaning.
Yeah, we didn't have enough space to have one that said.
I'm thinking of fascism.
How do you guys feel about fascism?
elijah schaffer
Can I tell you that?
Can I get this opinion on camera?
Is that okay?
We're just filming a YouTube video.
So, so you notice their booth.
What do you think about it?
What do you like about it?
unidentified
I think it's misguided.
In fact, it's an overreaction and a danger to me and my children and the Constitution.
And I take it personally.
I've seen some hostility out in this area before.
People calling other people fascists who don't really know what they're talking about, don't really understand what fascism is.
I'm sure they'd be much more comfortable with fascism.
And I can make an alliterative rhyme with that too.
That's almost similar to their socialism suck.
So, you know, nonetheless, I don't think they know what they're talking about.
What did you call it?
elijah schaffer
Trump derangement syndrome.
unidentified
Trump derangement syndrome.
Do I think it should be a realistic fear?
No.
No.
Do I think it is?
Yeah, some people probably are actually scared of what Trump will do.
elijah schaffer
Do you think it's because of the truth or because of the way the media portrays things?
unidentified
Because of the way the media portrays things.
Oh, yeah.
You can't get like an unbiased media, like nothing.
elijah schaffer
No one just tells you the news.
Either side, it's all embellished.
It's so ridiculous.
Do you feel like the news being negative means that everything about him is negative or that it's selectively being chosen to report on negative topics?
unidentified
I think he creates the negative news and then they report on it.
It's not the news saying negative things about him.
It's him doing negative things and them reporting.
Franklin De La Roosevelt said this.
Fear is only fear itself.
elijah schaffer
Do you feel that with there being over 90% negative reporting, while he's still doing many good things, that this could be skewing public opinion?
unidentified
I guess.
Yeah.
I mean, they should make a focus on more positive news and things that he does good.
Michael Jackson once said, the man in the mirror, man.
elijah schaffer
Do you know that he's negotiated the release of more hostages from foreign lands and terrorist-designated states than any president in recent history, including Barack Obama?
unidentified
I didn't know that.
What you are doing is a good thing.
You're a fighter.
You're not a soldier.
You're out on the battlefield.
Soldiers die, but the warriors are the ones that write about your story, my brother.
elijah schaffer
Have you heard about any of these things before?
unidentified
No.
elijah schaffer
Do you feel like you didn't hear about them because they didn't happen, or people chose to not tell you?
unidentified
I feel like we get a lot of news that gets flushed out.
You know, you see on your phone Apple News and they tell you the bad stuff, but they don't tell you that good stuff.
It's an overreaction to some Democrat's proposal for, oh, I don't know, crazy ideas like equal rights and no fear of starvation in the richest country in the world.
You know, and it's just part of that pandering to the worst base instincts and fear of the populace.
And I expect more from the young people that would support such an ignorant posture.
And like they say, the modern term, keep your head up.
And there's a universal power behind what you're doing.
It's going to take time.
You can't have your peaches in ice cream eat it too.
But if you give up, the forces ain't going to give out.
elijah schaffer
You said they'd be more inclined towards fascism.
What makes you think that?
unidentified
Well, only because of their overreaction to social security, you know, a thousand different programs that we've implemented over decades that we all kind of like and they made this country better.
And they somehow paint a broad brush of some sweeping socialism because once again, they can't, they don't have the facts on their side.
So they got to use scare tactics and ignorant, infantile, debased language.
Trump, bro.
elijah schaffer
Trump said famously at the State of the Union, we will never be a socialist country.
Agree or disagree?
unidentified
Well, we already are.
What are you talking about?
We've got lots of socialism.
We've got a lot of programs.
elijah schaffer
We're not going to be able to do it.
So, you know, we have social programs, but our economy doesn't run on a socialist construct with limits by the government, which is a connection to the program.
unidentified
Capitalism, if you really like that, then look at Haiti.
That's what unfettered, unregulated, pure capitalism in is.
I'm a capitalist.
What I'm talking about is they see socialism, but they don't know what they're talking about.
elijah schaffer
What would you have to do to change your mind to believe that Trump isn't as bad as people say that he is?
unidentified
I think I'd have to see a complete change in his political path, you know.
elijah schaffer
Where would that be?
Give me best case scenario.
You, my sir, what was your name, by the way?
unidentified
Russell.
elijah schaffer
Okay, so Russell, best case scenario.
You want to see somebody change.
You say, Donald Trump, I'm going to talk to you right now, and I'm going to speak into this camera and tell you, Mr. Trump, what you could do to make a difference.
unidentified
Go.
Trump, you could cut the crap with the wall.
It's a waste of time, waste of money.
It's racist.
And just, come on, man.
What are you doing with that?
elijah schaffer
Do you ever feel like you might have a bit of TDS?
unidentified
No.
elijah schaffer
Any advice for people that might have TDS or are watching us think that might be me?
What can they do to remedy the disorder?
I feel like find a way to get your emotions out.
Do you know anyone that suffered with trauma or fear or anything after the election?
unidentified
If you do, you're weak.
You're weak.
Okay, look, it happens.
Move on, man.
Move on.
Look, I don't 100% agree with the president.
As a matter of fact, I don't agree with him on a lot of things.
But you know what?
grow a pair and move on.
elijah schaffer
Thank you so much for watching another episode of Slightly Offensive with your favorite host, me, Elijah Schaefer.
We were out here at Colorado University in Denver, and students are pretty mixed.
Obviously, we heard from some adults.
We had that very interesting, sounded like a sermon from the guy in the bike.
And we also heard some frustration from perhaps a professor or another adult who's on the campus.
All in all, we're finding that maybe Trump derangement syndrome is a real thing, but maybe the people that are suffering from it are really the celebrities and the media is making a bigger deal out of it than it really is because the people of America are united.
And hey, we can't do this without you.
We're traveling.
We're moving around.

And just this complete 180 turnaround of the very people that are the flag hugging lapel wearing constitution holding, you know, morality, the religious right, you know, and they just swath themselves in that and yet they're anathema to everything that those entities claim and proclaim, you know?
And so it's, yeah, I've got Trunch derangement syndrome if you think that I think a man and his cohorts and the poor quality of people that he surrounds himself, the destruction of norms and civilities.
And I see a civil war coming in many ways.
You know, I can certainly see it.
And what I see is the last gasp of a losing party.
You know, at the end of a war, there's always a big increase in deaths.
Everybody's rushing to get the last piece of land, to get the numbers, and you think that it would like peter out, but no, it comes to a crescendo, like a sun burning out, and then, you know.
And that's what I see.
The right has lost this country, and so now they're going to, their only play is to double down because the demographics work against it, knowledge works against it, enlightenment works against it.
