Welcome back to Slightly Offensive with your favorite host, Elijah Shea for me.
We're here at the 2019 Women's March talking to protesters about what they want for women, why they hate Donald Trump, and what divides and moves this country.
So it says wake up, drink coffee, F the patriarchy, all in a day's work.
What is the patriarchy?
Why are you against it?
unidentified
The patriarchy is basically how men's power kind of like infiltrates every part of like a woman's daily life and how like you can't really overcome it as like a woman on your own typically.
And so like just saying fuck the patriarchy is just saying like I'm gonna rise up in every part of my life from the beginning, from the moment I wake up to the moment I go to sleep.
This is a useful idiot.
This is a group that we do this at lots of different events.
Dress up, try to bring attention to something that really needs it.
What it means to me is that all of America knew this man was not right and that he got into that office with 60 something thousand votes from three different states.
20,000 people in three different states put this incredibly ill man into office.
And so I'm proud to say none of my votes ever even got close to that direction.
Here we're seeing that a lot of people are not really for women's rights.
They're actually against Donald Trump, which means that there's a man at the center still of a march about women.
What do you think about that?
unidentified
First off, I want to say I got a golden girl shirt on, so you know I'm getting a lot of love out here.
Second off, yes, it's an anti-Trump march, anti-man in a way, Democratic Party operative march, which is fine.
Just say it.
Like you said, I was looking for signs that actually just were like for women in a normal way.
I couldn't find a single one.
I thought I saw one.
Future is female.
Well, the future is male and female because women and men need to have sex and not hit each other with signs or else you know then head damage and I'm never gonna be able to make babies.
Okay, so I wouldn't say like necessarily all women, but it's just kind of trying to show the point that some people would freak out by a Congress that's all women.
But right now, Congress is actually mostly men.
So it's just kind of trying to show the point that the way people get shocked when you see a Congress that's all women, that's how women feel about a Congress that's mostly men right now.
So we really want to fight for like more representation.
As we can see here, we have Trump in the center of the protest, being raised up sort of in admiration.
And it's, you know, they're putting him in the center of the march.
So Trump's still at the center of the whole thing, which is really, if you're trying to come against a guy, you probably shouldn't make him the biggest, the highest, and the baddest center of everything.
Just my opinion.
What do you feel about RBG in her current state of health?
unidentified
I mean, I think people are making a bit too much out of it.
She's older, so yes, anything that happens is going to take a little bit more time to recover, but I believe her when she says if she can't do it, she'll retire.
I mean is this March for women or is it against Donald Trump Because it still seems like there's one man at the focus of it all.
No matter how much they hate him, no matter how much they don't like him, they're still trained.
They're focused on him and he is the star of this Women's March 2019.
In reality, I haven't heard much about how to help women, where women could be helped, or what we could do to make a change, but I have heard the negative, how we can take him out of office.
This has been another anti-Donald Trump march here in Los Angeles, California, masqueraded as a Women's March 2019.
