elijah schaffer
Do you have any other other thoughts on that, by the way?
unidentified
Um other thoughts?
elijah schaffer
Let's see.
Okay, you're blocking my camera.
unidentified
Hello.
Hello, I'm here.
I'm here.
elijah schaffer
I'm down here.
Hey, guys.
It's me behind the refuse fascism thing.
Welcome back to another episode of Slightly Offensive.
Just in case you're wondering why we're recording on this microphone, it's because somebody poured water on our camera last episode and broke it.
So if you want to support us some way on PayPal or Patreon, shoot us some cash below and help out the cause.
We're here at Protest Culture, where we're protesting against something that we're mad about.
Now, Kavanaugh got confirmed yesterday, so you would wonder what are we protesting against.
At this point, it appears that we are now protesting for the liberation of women, because everyone knows in the United States, women aren't free.
Let's see what the protesters are saying.
unidentified
This side says there should have been a full investigation, you misogynistic, feckless liars.
I believe every branch of the government has now been compromised and can be argued that it is not legitimate.
They don't have a mandate to govern.
elijah schaffer
Basically what we're noticing is that there are about five signs up here.
Go ahead and zoom in here.
We've got about five signs.
So this one says women are bitches, ho is.
Got a nice spelling correction there.
H-O-Apostrophe, S.
So their ho-is.
Who particularly is this protest about?
unidentified
About the sexual arrangement, no.
About who?
I don't know who.
elijah schaffer
Now what we have here is another poster that says, Me Too versus Kavanaugh.
Believe women, believe survivors.
My question is, if there's an assault between two lesbians, which woman do you believe?
unidentified
This is an intersectional group.
This is representative of the people that live in this country, and the people who are in power do not represent this.
elijah schaffer
Okay, so obviously there's a lot of different people around the country other than just people in California, which some would say the current government does reflect.
What do you think about that?
unidentified
I spent the summer in Florida and I've spoken to these people.
I've had to intervene in conflicts and public spaces where people of color were being attacked.
elijah schaffer
Why are you guys talking about us?
unidentified
Yeah.
elijah schaffer
Can you explain?
unidentified
Oh, because you guys weren't here in support of this march.
Is that correct?
elijah schaffer
We're not for it or against it.
We just want to talk to people who are for it.
Gotcha.
Can we just ask you a couple questions?
unidentified
Do you support Trump?
elijah schaffer
Do I support Trump?
I mean, I support our country, Democratic and president.
unidentified
Do you support Trump?
elijah schaffer
I support our president.
And I've supported Obama, too, so.
unidentified
But you support Trump?
Yeah, of course.
Why, of course?
elijah schaffer
Because he's the president.
Why would I want him to fail?
That would be like wanting the captain of a plane to crash.
Like, he's in control of the country.
So if I don't try to support him the best I can, then I'm hoping our country crashes.
unidentified
Not necessarily.
I mean, the ideal of what Certainty is supposed to be is actually kind of good, where it's like limited government, a lot of personal freedom, you keep the money in your paycheck because you don't want it to go to somebody else.
I mean, those ideas aren't that bad with themselves, but really, they never really played out.
elijah schaffer
It doesn't matter as much as we know who's being sexually assaulted as the idea of fighting against the patriarchy that's the most important.
unidentified
What does this mean?
Many of us who have experienced sexual harassment in the workplace are both...
I think the first one, you know?
The first sounds more...
It makes more sense to me, you know?
elijah schaffer
So here's the key thing.
I did what you did right now, where they started going, creepy guys, go home, fascists.
And I just stayed looking like this and just didn't acknowledge them.
And then it died down because we didn't feed back and feed them.
austen fleccas fletcher
And then also another trip when that happens to you, it's a big group.
No one really knows what's going on.
So they start saying, fascists go home.
They don't know who they're talking about.
So you just turn and you point to the guy next to you and you go, fascists, go home, fascists go home.
Just blame it on them.
And then, you know, it's mom mentality.
It's really easy.
And then don't, you know, don't freak out too much.
Control your energy, stay calm, and eventually it fizzles out or it'll escalate worse and they'll attack you.
elijah schaffer
Other than having some very nice wit and a good pair of shades, I don't know what it is about me they're afraid of.
Maybe it's that I speak the truth.
What could we do then to make things better in the here and now?
unidentified
Well, I mean, like, you know, if you want my honest opinion, I can just, you know, go ahead and give y'all what you really want to hear is that I think we're moving towards communism.
And I think, or socialism, whichever comes first.
elijah schaffer
You would be surprised, actually.
People that are like fall left-wing do not give me the same answers.
People are pretty, kind of like the right-wing, people are a pretty varying degree.
So this is the first I've heard that today.
unidentified
Really?
elijah schaffer
Yes.
unidentified
I'm surprised.
But I think, you know, moving towards socialism and communism is going to solve a lot of the problems that I think we have as a country.
elijah schaffer
So why do we only want to talk to people who believe what we believe?
That's all I'm trying to understand.
Like, why do people not ever want to talk to people who don't think the same way as them?
And that's an honest question, that's not even like a...
unidentified
It's a waste of time, it's a waste of time.
elijah schaffer
But why is a man telling a woman what she can or can't do?
Like, is this a woman's woman's thing?
unidentified
So you're mansplaining and like controlling a woman.
austen fleccas fletcher
But I understand.
elijah schaffer
I'm trying to give a woman a platform and you're trying to shut up a woman.
unidentified
And they're not here to try to be swayed by an argument.
They're not here, you know, looking for an honest and open discussion.
That is not the purpose.
elijah schaffer
Who are we?
unidentified
But obviously, you have full autonomy to do whatever you want to do.
elijah schaffer
I'm a man.
Yeah, yeah, okay.
Thank you as a man for letting a woman know that she's allowed to speak.
That was good of you.
At a woman's march, too.
That was good.
unidentified
The whole purpose is to let people know exactly what you are.
austen fleccas fletcher
But I'm done talking with you.
unidentified
You're up on the stage.
All right.
Gotta get out.
elijah schaffer
Gotta get in out.
Gotta go.
unidentified
Well, basically, I consider Trump really an anomaly because.
I mean, the reason why Trump became a viable candidate is because both parties failed.
And to me, Trump represents the dying of the Republican Party, the final death of the Republican Party, but I think he's going to win a second term because the Democratic Party is still pretty shitty and we still have the old guard.
elijah schaffer
Where has communism worked?
unidentified
Where has communism worked?
elijah schaffer
Like in ways that you would think it would be good also for our country.
unidentified
I mean, it hasn't.
I think Obama was bad, but I would take a third term of Obama over five seconds of Trump.
elijah schaffer
That's a fair answer.
That's a fair answer.
Appreciate it.
Thank you.
unidentified
That's awesome.
elijah schaffer
Do you have any other thoughts on that, by the way?
unidentified
Other thoughts?
Let's see.
elijah schaffer
Okay, you're blocking my camera.
unidentified
Hello.
Hello, I'm here.
I'm here.
I'm down here.
Hey, guys.
elijah schaffer
It's me behind the refuse fascism thing.
What's up, man?
unidentified
Cool.
elijah schaffer
Thank you.
unidentified
Socialism, on the other hand, has worked for a lot of people.
elijah schaffer
Now, what we have here is another sign, which is beautiful.
It says, women in LGBTQ Liberation Now, unites, smash, bigotry, and patriarchy.
So we've sort of, this is a new one.
There's like a woman with a beard, I think, in there.
And, you know, this is pretty cool.
See, what we're going to see, we also have our typical to the right, our Trump Pence Must Go sign.
So you said that communism or socialism would help.
So are you talking about like a traditional communism, traditional socialism, or some sort of a hybrid?
unidentified
Well, I would think it would come in steps, right?
So I think socialism would be the natural, like a Bernie Sanders type of socialism.
And it would kind of, you know, spiral from there.
Not in a bad way in my opinion, but it would spiral towards communism after we implemented a kind of Bernie Sanders type socialism.
elijah schaffer
What do we do about Justice Kavanaugh now that he is already in office?
unidentified
We either need to stack the court so a progressive majority is there, or we need to do everything we can to investigate him and then eventually impeach him.
The likelihood of that, of course, is very, very slim, but if we get every young person out to vote in November and in every subsequent election thereafter, we can surely take this country back.
elijah schaffer
Right, that'll be tough, but it's possible.
unidentified
Well, look at all these young people here.
Again, like, I just think Trump is really entirely different beasts.
I see him as totalitarianism.
He's not really about personal freedom at all.
elijah schaffer
Where has pure or traditional socialism worked where governments have not also had capitalistic tendencies or capitalistic influence in their economic models?
unidentified
Capitalistic tendencies.
elijah schaffer
Like, I'm talking about there's some countries in Europe that are not traditional or true socialist.
unidentified
So you're basically asking me, what's a non-European country?
elijah schaffer
Where like an actual like full form of socialism, kind of like Cambodia or somewhere like, like, where has it actually worked?
unidentified
I mean, I would argue that it's worked pretty well in Cuba.
Hey, I got something to tell you.
Yeah.
I've been working on an invention called Awesome Recycling.
It reduces global warming and gives earthquake and fireproof homes.
I've submitted it to two presidents, Obama and Trump.
And Trump's son, because it develops energy.
elijah schaffer
Donald Trump Jr.
unidentified
Yeah.
I get the same thing all the way around.
I got brought all the way down here from Montana to meet with NASA and then couldn't get into the gate.
All right?
These people don't want to help America.
They just want to keep America down.
elijah schaffer
Who are these people?
unidentified
Our government.
elijah schaffer
What I've noticed is that it's basically like almost like a fair of like trying to decide which sign we want to use as the front for our next protest.
And I'm really enjoying this because look at this.
No, there's not even four.
There's six posters.
Look at that.
Me too, Survivor's March.
That was from another.
They're reusing signs.
And they're all over here.
I mean, look at this.
But hey, you know what?
You guys vote.
Which sign do you think looks the best?
Which sign do you think wants to win the competition at this week's victim fair?
And let me know which one you would want to see at the front of your next march in Los Angeles in the comments below.
What is it that you're hoping to do through your channel?
You said you kind of jab at the right wing, right, or right-wing policies?
unidentified
I would say I go all in on it.
The most recent anti-prop video I did, they're all, so far I've only done satire on Prager U. If you guys know who that is.
elijah schaffer
Prager U?
unidentified
Yeah, Prager U.
elijah schaffer
This is actually Will Witt, their guy's, this is his mic.
I borrowed it from him.
unidentified
Interesting.
elijah schaffer
It's kind of funny, you're speaking into a...
unidentified
I hope he hears this then.
elijah schaffer
He will hear it!
unidentified
I hope he hears it and looks at my channel and I don't know.
We'll see what happens.
He might take over all my videos.
We'll see.
No, he's good.
elijah schaffer
He doesn't have a lot of power.
Catch you later, man.
See you guys around.
Bye, guys.
Bye, Refuse Fascism.
Bye, guys.
Do you know that your sign has a typo?
It says Ho Is, H-O-Apostrophies.
My buddy you guys were in movement for it.
Yes, it's there.
You misspelled your sign.
