Do you think that it's fair to make someone guilty in your mind of something that has not yet been proven in the court of law?
unidentified
Well, I've seen those women's testimonies and everything, and I just, based off of what I've seen already, I do believe they're telling the truth because they risk a lot, you know, going out and expressing their truth, you know, what.
Do you think that Dr. Ford is telling the truth and that we should believe all women, or do you think that we should wait for the investigation to finish?
Right, so the statement believe all women is saying that if a woman says that a man sexually assaulted her, that she is probably right.
Although some studies that have been conducted on average show that there's about 2 to 10% of accusations about rape from women to men are false.
And those are, some of them were conducted by the LAPD, by the FBI, and then there's been some other studies that may be less reliable that even go up to 90% and some by other people that go down to as much as 1%.
So the factor is, is that some accusations are false.
So then do you think that believe all women is a good statement for our country?
unidentified
Well, I guess that ties in with like your word against mine.
I think they should all be considered, but I don't think just because somebody's saying something that it's necessarily true, so it should definitely be considered.
I don't know if it's necessarily a good statement, but I think it's good to say that it should at least be considered or valued.
Women, when you're powerful and you got like a lot going on, a woman can really stop this.
See, this is the answer we keep getting from a lot of women, honestly.
But the narrative that we're hearing in the country right now is that the hashtag believe all women is sort of trending and a lot of people are buying into it and believing it.
Do you think that's a good move for our country to start to indict and believe people are guilty of something that they haven't been proven guilty of in the court of law?
This is Tiana from Left the Left Show, which is an up-and-coming YouTube channel and popular Instagram account famous for confronting Alexandria Cortez, asking her the difference between democratic socialism and socialism.
She's also a Turning Point Campus Coordinator, and she's here to help me give the background and philosophy behind Dr. Ford's accusations against Brett Kavanaugh, who's nominated for Supreme Court.
What we're seeing right now in this video is basically that even women on the street in a liberal city like Hollywood and a progressive state like California, they don't believe all women.
Why do you think that's the case?
unidentified
Well, it's common sense.
People lie.
Women lie.
Women lie to get ahead.
Women lie because they're scared.
Women lie about each other.
It just doesn't make sense that you have to believe all women.
So, Tiana, what's been alarming me is that there are increasing circles on the left and progressive sides of our political spectrum that are beginning to call Brett Kavanaugh a rapist, a serial rapist, even a gang rapist, before his trial and his hearing has even been completed.
What do you think are the dangers of accusing someone guilty of a crime that they have not even been proven guilty of in the court of law?
unidentified
Right, so I thought in America it was innocent until proven guilty and not guilty, therefore you prove your innocence.
So are we just gonna throw out the fifth and the 14th Amendment that specifically have clauses to protect yourself from the government of arbitrarily taking away your life, liberty, and property?
Why can't we give Kavanaugh the same exact rights as we do?
So the trending hashtag believe women actually makes me believe less women because anytime someone's trying to get me to believe people based solely how they look, I find that dangerous.
What do you think?
unidentified
I think that it's just as legitimate as saying believe hashtag children or believe hashtag a certain race, which I think is unfair, first of all, second of all, and it truly delegitimizes actual victims and it kind of desensitizes it in a way and you don't know what's truth and what's not.
