| When it comes to the nation's finances, but eventually the global economy is going to force their hand. | ||
| What I mean by that is you will get to a point where investors realize that they simply can't get paid. | ||
| And that's what a lot of a lot of bond investors in particular right now are starting to realize. | ||
| That is why the 20 and 30 year bonds continue to tick higher. | ||
| Austin Goolsbee, who's the president of the Chicago Fed right now and This is the most charitable thing I can say, but he's an absolute joke and a sham. | ||
| He says that he's scratching his head and can't figure out why long-term rates are rising. | ||
| I'll tell you why. | ||
| It's because no one believes the lie anymore. | ||
| No one believes that this is sustainable. | ||
| No one believes that the government can actually pay this back at the current trajectories, at the current trends. | ||
| And so unless we see some radical, and I mean radical, changes, people eventually are simply going to wash their hands of the United States sovereign debt market and are going to refuse to buy treasuries at any price. | ||
| When that happens, where does that leave us? | ||
| That leaves us in a, maybe not hyperinflation scenario, but a very, very strong inflation scenario because the only buyer left at that point of Treasuries will be the Federal Reserve. | ||
| They will simply monetize the national debt in its entirety. | ||
| In other words, we're basically making up the bonds and we're buying them. | ||
| Which is another another joke when you can't even sell them. | ||
| Is there anything this weekend with the collapse of the of quote-unquote the Republicans of McCarthy just with McConnell teaming up with Schumer and Biden that shows you any discipline in this crowd at all? | ||
| Now we had 92 people I think vote against. | ||
| If you had Luna and Donaldson, you had 92 vote against this, but have you seen, so you're getting to a majority of the majority. | ||
| Have you seen any discipline, any focus, given the little bit of it we just had last week, the glint of it, and that's still not nearly enough, because the cuts weren't nearly enough. | ||
| Not even beginning to have the cuts that you have to have. | ||
| Do you think that this crowd up there that's running things today, McCarthy and this crowd, have the discipline and the focus to be able to stop the madness? | ||
| Well, Steve, they're certainly better than Paul Ryan and his crew. | ||
| Now, to a certain extent, that's damning with faint praise, I understand. | ||
| But I think these people are a little more aware of just how bad the situation is getting. | ||
| They certainly don't understand it fully, but they're at least a little bit more awake in some sense. | ||
| But at the end of the day, it frankly I don't think even matters who is in charge in Washington, D.C., because ultimately these people are first and foremost politicians, and they will do what they need to do, for the most part, to get re-elected. | ||
| And so it is up to us, it is up to we the people, to exert enough political influence on them to make them aware that they will not get re-elected if they do not do what we want them to do, which in this case is to drastically reduce I think it's Brian Rydell. | ||

| He had a column on CNN, I think it was last week, but he talked about a paper he'd written years ago that I read, where he said that because everybody assumed interest rates would never get back over 4%, That once it once 10 years over 4% and you got to start refinancing all this you're going to accelerate the crash of the United States economy is going to happen quite quickly after that. | ||
| Your thoughts on that how dangerous a territory we're in now when you pointed out we have $8 trillion refinance this year. | ||
| And we're going to have to get the capital markets to eat this credit. | ||
| You know, we're going to take that away from productive capital just to pay the interest on this thing. | ||
| What are your thoughts? | ||
| Once these rates get structurally set above 4%, how bad is that for us? | ||

| I mean, is it a doomsday scenario? | ||
| Well, that depends on how far we want to continue this runaway government spending. | ||
| But the low interest rates that we saw after the dot-com crash and then certainly after 9-11, that is what allowed us, for example, to finance the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and all the other overseas excursions that we had under both Bush and Obama. | ||
| It's what allowed us to finance the ridiculous bailouts During the global financial crisis and the mortgage meltdown, and the same thing with COVID, and now everything that we've been spending money on under Joe Biden. | ||
| And so at the end of the day, you know, the bill always comes due. | ||
| The sins of the past will catch up with you, be they moral or monetary. | ||
| And right now we are basically seeing more than two decades of those sins confront us in a very, very violent way. | ||
| Last thing, can I hold you to the break? | ||
| When you say the last couple decades, this actually goes back to, in fact, I'm going to hold your answer to after the break, we're going to drop a bomb on people. | ||
| This actually goes back, the railhead of this was 1933, when FDR took us off of gold, and the reason is they wanted to have the ability to spend like crazy, at the time of the Great Depression. | ||

| And the result of that was it gave the Federal Reserve a green light to inflate as much as needed to finance all the deficits that Congress could possibly pass. | ||
| So are you saying, and I'm not saying we're going to do this, but are you saying, as we reversed all the Obama executive orders, that President Trump could, as his first act, after high noon, after his hand comes off the Bible, besides shutting down the border and going after the deep state, we could actually take away the emergency measures that stop the convertibility of the U.S. | ||

| That could be done with a stroke of a pen. | ||

| What you do with an executive order, you can undo with another executive order. | ||
| Now the only caveat here is that because we have devalued the dollar so much, it would essentially be impossible to return to the previous ratio of $35 an ounce, and so you'd probably need something more like $2,000. | ||
| But what you would do is effectively straitjacket the Federal Reserve and the banking system at large in their ability to devalue the currency and to levy the hidden tax of inflation on the American people. | ||
| That would also straitjacket, correct me if I'm wrong, because the reason Nixon did this, he wanted to have guns and butter, continue on what Lyndon Johnson gave us, you would also straitjacket This collection of folks here in Capitol Hill. | ||

| We've had actually three different central banks before the Federal Reserve and the United States ended each of them. | ||
| This idea that the Federal Reserve is somehow permanent and it can never be undone, that's an absolute hogwash. | ||
