| The sample was sent to Wuhan Institute of Virology for testing of transmissibility and pathogenicity using non-human primate models, that is monkeys. | ||
| And the person, we're told, the person who was charged with leading that effort was a scientist called Qiao Shan. | ||
| Now, first I must point out that there are actually more than one Wuhan Institutes of Virology in Wuhan. | ||
| The one we've heard the most about is the new center. | ||
| And this is 12 miles south of the city center. | ||
| And this is where the high containment biosafety level 4 facility is. | ||
| But in that time frame, they could not do monkey experiments. | ||
| And that was verified by the Batwoman herself, Zhang Lixi. | ||
| There is another Wuhan Institute of Virology facility in the center of Wuhan, and this is not a Level 4, it's a Level 3 facility, and the facility The address of it matches the professional address of the leader of this project, which is Zhao Shan. | ||
| Now, nearby are two other facilities. | ||
| There's a very large People's Liberation Army Hospital complex, and also nearby is the Wuhan University Animal Laboratory. | ||
| This is also a P3 facility. | ||
| Not a high containment facility. | ||
| But this is a facility in Wuhan that was capable of doing monkey experiments. | ||
| And they had been doing it for 15 years since the first SARS outbreak. | ||
| And this is a facility that is old. | ||
| It required renovation because it had structural problems. | ||
| Now all these facilities are in the epicenter of where the initial outbreak took place in Wuhan. | ||
