truthradioshow.com Shalom and welcome to the Dan Bedandi Show on truthradioshow.com Welcome to the Gospel of John chapter 19.
If you missed chapters 1 to 18, they are in our playlist on truthradioshow.com.
So we're doing an in-depth study, comprehensive study of the book of John, chapter by chapter, verse by verse.
And we don't just read through the Bible, guys.
We examine the Bible completely.
So what we do is a Bible study approach.
Pray for wisdom and understanding.
And for those of them watching, sorry to sound redundant, but we need to do this every Bible study.
So, pray for wisdom and understanding, so we come before you, Jesus, Yeshua, and ask you, in your mighty name, that you can forgive us of our individual sins, the sins that we individually committed, the trespasses and transgressions, and in some cases, some people's abominations.
Please forgive us.
And we ask you to make us pure before the Father.
Father, we ask you once again to install the Holy Spirit within us, divine comforter and teacher, to write your word upon our hearts that we may know the truth from you directly.
And we ask you in your mighty name and also ask you to pray for everybody here.
We pray for everybody here, I'm sorry.
To protect everybody that's going through any kind of ailment or sickness or any kind of problems or tribulation, we pray to you.
To heal us all, to comfort us all, and protect us all from the forces of evil.
And give us your divine wisdom and understanding in your word in John chapter 19 today.
We ask you, we love you so much with all our heart and soul.
Amen.
So now what we do is read the scripture in context, because context is key.
We can't say this enough.
And let the scripture interpret scripture.
We don't go by my or your understanding.
We go by what the Holy Spirit reveals to us today.
That being said, let's open up our Bibles and ShakeYourWakeRadio.com is the audio edition.
So if you've got a Bible at home, guys, please open it up.
We highly suggest you do, because you need to read it for yourselves.
So chapter 19, and if you're watching the video edition, you'll get the Bible right up on the screen here, the King James Version.
So where we left off in chapter 18, OK, this is when Jesus was captured.
Sold out by Judas, right?
So now Pontius Pilate, they brought him to Pontius Pilate in the Hall of Judgment and Pontius Pilate's like trying to understand what the heck did Jesus do wrong?
And I don't mind you in the Passover ritual, right?
The tradition they have?
Because they had two people captives, right?
Jesus and Barnabas, who was a robber, right?
So Pilate went in and questioned Jesus, right?
And found no fault in him.
So he went back to the Jews and said, guys, I find no fault in him at all.
Did nothing wrong.
But according to the custom, right?
You're allowed to release one person on the Passover.
So which one do you want me to release?
You want me to release the king of the Jews?
That's Jesus.
So of course the Jewish priests and all of them started yelling, saying, no, no, no, no, not this man.
But Barabbas, we want Barabbas released.
So they won the criminal over somebody who did nothing wrong, Jesus, released.
So now chapter 19.
Then Pilate therefore took Jesus and scourged him.
And the soldiers plaited a crown of thorns and put it on his head, and they put him in a purple robe.
So, there's more details in the book of Matthew about this account, yeah?
And, uh, very gruesome stuff.
In other words, they beat him up, all this stuff, right?
Uh, whipped him and all kinds of things, and they took a crown of thorns and they literally took a hammer and nailed it into his head.
Imagine somebody putting a crown of thorns on your head, then just whacking it with some kind of a hammer into your skull.
And they put him in a purple robe.
And they said, this is mocking him.
That's what they were doing.
They were mocking him.
They put a crown of thorns on his head as a crown, like a king's crown, right?
And said, hail, king of the Jews.
And they smote him with their bands.
So they did that.
And they started beating him up.
So they put him in a king's garment type thing with a crown on him.
So they could beat him up.
This was a ritual done to, um, to mock Jesus.
So Pilate, therefore, went forth again and said unto them, Behold, I bring him forth to you, that you may know I find no fault in him.
So once again, Pilate's like, hey, yeah.
All right, guys, here he is.
Okay, here he is.
I bring him to you guys, right?
He's talking about the chief priest, right?
Those Jews, right?
And he's like, Behold, though I find no fault in him.
Like, to me, he's innocent.
So then Jesus came forth, wearing a crown of thorns and a purple robe, and Pilate said unto them, Behold the man.
This man has no fault, he said, right?
Behold him.
So when the chief priest, therefore, and the officers saw him, they cried out, saying, crucify him!
Crucify him!
And Pilate said unto them, take ye him and crucify him.
And I find no fault in him.
So Pilate's like, hey, I don't know why you guys are doing this, but you know, according to this, he has to honor the law, right?
So all right, take him.
Take him.
But I find no fault in him.
And the Jews answered him, saying, well, we have a law.
And by our law, he ought to die.
Because he made himself the Son of God.
Mind you, Barabbas was a criminal and everything, right?
But yeah, they let him go.
But because Jesus said he was the Son of God, which he is, the Messiah, right?
That's why they want him dead.
So when Pilate, therefore, heard that saying, he was more afraid.
It's like, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
You want him dead because he claimed to be the son of God?
Are you guys serious?
So, Pilate went back into the judgment hall, right?
And said unto Jesus, Where art thou?
But Jesus gave him no answer.
He goes, where are you?
And Jesus said, I mean, and then said, Pilate, unto him, unto Jesus, right?
Speaking that on to me like why are you not speaking to me?
No, it's not.
No, I have no yeah, no, it's Not that I have power to crucify thee and have power to release thee Because how come you're not speaking to me?
Don't you know I have power to crucify you or I can voice you I have power to do either one.
I have the power to release you or crucify you.
How come you're not speaking to me?
So Jesus answered and said, well, to Pilate, right?
Thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee from above.
Therefore, he that delivered me into this has the greater sin.
Talk about Judas, right?
Because he told Pilate, you have no power at all against me.
Yeah, he doesn't.
Now, Pilate was like, basically almost, he had the biggest, what I call the rule of Rome, right?
And enforce the Jewish laws as well for the Jews, for them.
The Jewish laws never applied to the Romans.
So the Jewish occupants in Rome, Pilate had to go according to the laws that they set.
So basically if a Jewish convicted people, even though the Romans found them, they'll get it out.
They had to execute them or put them in prison because the Jews wanted them to do that.
But of course the Jewish could not do that to a Roman.
The Romans fell under Roman law.
But the Jews, under Jewish law, the Romans had to go by, right?
But Jesus told Pilate, you have no power over me.
Because Pilate says, I have the power right now to release you, or I have the power to crucify you.
And Jesus told him right now, you have no power at all against me.
At all!
Except if it were given from above.
In other words, if the Father gave you power, that would be possible.
But therefore, He delivered me unto you, I'm sorry, therefore he that delivered me, the one who delivered me to you, has a greater sin.
Like, in other words, the people who delivered me to you, they're the ones who are at guilt.
They're the ones who are at fault.
Which is Judas and these priests, right?
So, and from thenceforth Pilate sought to release him.
So Pilate's ready to release Jesus.
Cause he's like, alright, come on man, what the heck are you rolling?
If I was Pilot, I would have told him, yeah, but then again, I would have been going against prophecy, you know?
But, Pilot wanted to release him.
He's probably looking at these Jews, people like, what are you guys, nuts?
You just let a criminal go, but now you don't want, what the hell is wrong with you?
Because he claimed to be the son of God?
So, again, dancefloor, Pilot says, you know, I think I'm going to release him.
And the Jews cried out saying, if thou let this man go, thou art not Caesar's friend.
Whoever makes himself a king, speaketh against Caesar.
Cause Caesar is the emperor of Rome.
Pilate's like right underneath him.
So there they are saying, well you know what?
Hey.
You're going against Caesar.
Trying to intimidate Pilate.
Now Pilate had the power, he could say, you know, I don't care what you guys say, I'm releasing him.
Pilot went to battle Jews.
But they're telling him, if you let him go, you're no friend of Caesar's.
And whoever makes himself a king, speaks against Caesar's.
So in other words, if you release him, and you're releasing the king, you called him the king of the Jews, right?
They're saying, Pilot, you called him the king of the Jews.
So therefore you're not a friend of Caesar's, because if you're making him a king, right?
You call him a king, that's against Caesar, because Caesar's the king.
So they told Pilate that, right?
So when Pilate therefore heard that saying, he brought Jesus forth and sat down in the judgment seat in the place that is called Pavement.
The place that's called the Pavement, right?
But in the Hebrew, it's called Gabbatha.
That's why it's called The Pavement.
But in Hebrew it's called Gabbatha, right?
So anyway... And it was the preparation of the Passover.
About the 6th hour.
And he said unto the Jews, Behold your king!
They cried out, Away with him!
Away with him!
Crucify him!
And Pilate said unto them, Shall I crucify your king?
You want me to crucify your king?
And the Chief Priest answered and said, well, we have no king but Caesar.
Now that's blasphemy right there.
That's blasphemy, right?
So Pontius Pilate was like, why do you want to crucify your king?
Because he believed.
But he had to go to court and tell the laws.
Then Jesus, he said, I'm sorry, then delivered him, therefore, unto them, be crucified.
And they took Jesus and led him away.
So it was deemed alright, he's going off to be crucified.
And he, bearing his cross, went forth to a place called, a place of skull, which is in Hebrews called Golgotha.
Right?
Where they crucified him.
And two other men with him, right?
Now there's three people being crucified this day.
And on either side, one is Jesus in the midst.
So Jesus is in the middle.
So there's one person on each side of Jesus.
Jesus is in the middle, right?
Now there's three people being crucified, right?
Mind you, Jesus is the only one that's innocent here.
These are two people being crucified for a reason.
They were thieves and they did bad stuff, right?
So Pilate wrote on the title, wrote a title and put it on the cross.
So he took this thing, wrote on the title and he wrote King, the Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews.
Which kind of pissed, excuse my language, pissed off the Jews when he did that.
Because they didn't want to acknowledge him as King or Messiah or anything like that, right?
But Pilate acknowledged him.
Pilate was afraid, you know what I mean?
And he knew because he'd seen the things that Jesus did.
I truly believe that Pilate believed.
I really don't.
Because of his actions.
Spoke volumes.
That Pilate writes on his cross above his head.
Basically, if you want to call it almost like a tombstone.
You know what I mean?
But he wrote King Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews.
And this title then read many of the Jews, right?
So many Jews read this, and for the place where Jesus was crucified was nigh to the city, was near the city.
And it was written in Hebrew, in Greek, in Latin.
So this was written in three different languages.
Jesus of Nazareth, the King of the Jews.
Hebrew, Greek, and Latin.
Near the city.
And many Jews read this, right?
Then said the chief priest of the Jews to Pilate, write not, don't write the king of the Jews.
But that he said, I am the king of the Jews.
So now he's crucified, right?
He's up on the cross.
So Pilate decides to put a little plaque above him and call him the king of the Jews.
Acknowledging him as the king of the Jews.
So like I said, it pissed off the Jewish priests, right?
So then they're telling Pilate, don't do that.
Don't write king of the Jews.
Right?
And Pilate answered and says, Why I have written, I have written.
Too bad.
Because Pilate acknowledged him as the king.
The Jewish priesthood, right?
So the Jewish priesthood, what that happens, like get that off that cross now.
He's not the king of the Jews.
But Pilate says, yes, he is.
And he goes, what I have written, I have written.
In other words, tell him too damn bad.
It's not coming off. - So then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took his garment and made four parts.
To every part, a soldier a part, and they also his coat.
Now the coat was, without seam, woven in from the top throughout.
So I don't know if they tore his clothes apart into pieces or whatever they did with his clothes, right?
They said, therefore, among themselves, let us not render.
But cast lots for it, and who it shall be, that the scripture might be fulfilled, which says, they parted my raiment among them, and for my arresture they did cast lots.
That these things therefore the soldiers did.
Right?
Let me see if I've got cast lots.
Cast lots definition.
So to Drew Lutz to decide order.
Drew Lutz sortation or conclusion to decision determination.
So they made determination on its close, right?
Okay.
So the thing is what it sounds like here too That the scripture might be fulfilled, right?
And so they potted the raiment And did cast lots And these things, therefore, the soldiers did, right?
Now there stood by the cross Jesus, his mother, and his mother's sister, which is his aunt, Mary, the wife of Cleopas, and Mary Magdalene.
So Mary, his mother, Mary Magdalene, and, uh, sorry, yeah, Mary, his mother, and his aunt, and Mary Magdalene, right?
And it looks like right here, the Jews, I'm sorry, the Roman soldiers, they were, oh, They believed, and especially the stuff that's to happen next, right?
They truly believed.
That he, and so did Pilate.
That he is the King of the Jews, he's the Messiah.
That's why Pilate was afraid.
Yeah.
So anyway, when Jesus therefore saw his mother and the disciples standing by whom he loved, he said unto his mother, Woman, behold your son.
And when you call somebody a woman back then, it was respect.
Now today, when you say, oh woman, go do the dishes or something, that's derogatory.
But when you call women, it's a sign of respect back then.
Right?
Then said he to the disciples, right?
Behold thy mother.
And from that hour, the disciples took her into his own home.
Because this is my mother.
And after this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, says, and then he spoke and said, I thirst, right?
And now there was a vessel full of vinegar, and they filled the sponge with the vinegar and put it on a hesop, which is like a stick or something that holds it, and put it up to his mouth.
So they raised it up to his mouth to drink of the vinegar.
And when vinegar does, it will dry you out.
But it gives you a drink, but it dries you out eventually, you know?
So, to furthermore the process.
Dehydration and everything else, you're losing blood, because right now Jesus is losing blood.
And fluids, you know, so this would further along the process.
So, when Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, and it's finished.
And he bowed his head and gave up the ghost.
He died.
So the Jews, therefore, because it was the preparation, right?
That the body should not remain, remember it's the preparation of the Sabbath.
Yeah.
The preparation, right?
That the body should not remain upon the cross on the Sabbath day.
So, mind you, when Jesus was hanging on the cross for a while.
Because it took a while for him to die.
And the cool thing is, too, if you actually, um, not the cool thing, but, um, the book of Matthew talks about the two guys on the cross.
One of them looked at Jesus and he told the other day, if he does this, we deserve to be here.
He doesn't.
Matthew, Mark, and Luke makes mention of this, not John here.
Um, but we deserve to be here.
He doesn't.
And he looked at Jesus and says, Jesus, can you remember me when you entered your father's kingdom?
Jesus says from this day forward, you shall be with me in paradise, right?
So it took a while for him to die, right?
And, uh, they didn't just die right away.
It took a while.
You know, they hung there for a while, right?
Now, because of the past, the preparation for the, uh, which is a Friday.
Preparation, uh, day, prep day, you call it, it's Friday during the daytime.
So they didn't want him to remain up on the cross on the Sabbath day, right?
So the Sabbath day was a high day.
Now, check this out, right?
There's two Sabbaths.
There's, um, There's High Sabbath, this is the highest day, right?
High Sabbath.
And there's the Sabbath.
Now, this is very critical to understand.
The Sabbath day is God's Sabbath sanctified the seventh day.
It's Saturday, right?
In which I doubt the preparation day is Friday.
It usually is Friday, but this is a High Sabbath.
That year in the month there, they had High Sabbath on Wednesday.
So what they did was they had pilot that their legs might be broken.
So basically the soldiers went over and broke Jesus' legs.
That they might be taken away, right?
So to make sure he didn't get off the cross or anything, right?
So then came the soldiers and broke the legs of the first and of the other that which crucified with them, right?
So they broke all three of their legs.
So there's no way for them to possibly get off the cross, right?
But when they came to Jesus and saw that he was dead already, they didn't break his legs.
But one of the soldiers with the spear pierced the side of him, and forth came out blood and water.
So water actually poured out of him.
And he saw it be a record, he bore record to this, and his record is true.
And he knows that he said the truth that he might believe.
So at this point, when he passed Jesus, did you see water come out of him?
He was like, what?
Blood and water, but yeah, water just pouring out of him.
He believed instantly.
And for these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, a bone of him shall not be broken.
And again another scripture said, they took, they shall look on him whom they oppressed.
So, now, remember they said the Hype Sabbath?
Let me highlight this here, verse 38.
So, remember they said the Hype Sabbath?
The preparation day for the Hype Sabbath?
And it specifies, Matthew says Hype Sabbath.
This is a Sabbath day that was a high day.
This is not the typical Saturday Sabbath.
This is a Wednesday.
I want to let you know that, right?
So, and after this, Joseph of Arimatah, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly, for fear of the Jews, besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus, right?
So he consulted with Pilate and said, listen, can we take his body away?
We want to put him to rest properly, right?
And Pilate gave him permission, gave him leave, right?
So go ahead.
And he came therefore and took the body of Jesus.
He took the body off the cross, right?
And there came also Nicodemus, which was also the first Came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of mirth and lalos, about a hundred pounds of weight, right?
And they took the body of Jesus, and wound it, they wound it in linen clothing, cloths there, and they wrapped his body up, within spices and manna of the Jews to bury, right?
So they anointed his body with oil, and then all these spices and all that, then wrapped him in clothes.
It's almost like mummification, like the Egyptians did, right?
So now, the place where he was crucified, there was a garden.
And in the garden, a new sceptical.
Where he was never in, yet laid.
So it was a brittle cave, like you go to the graveyard and see the tombs above ground.
But back then, it was like a cave, and they carved out of a cave, or whatever.
And they would lay the body in it, right?
Like a tomb.
So they laid Jesus there for because the Jews preparation day for the sepulchre was near at hand, right?
So basically, now the evening is coming for the Sabbath, right?
So they had to put the body away.
Before the Sabbath, right?
So they laid him in the tomb.
Now when we get to the next chapter, we're gonna get to more details on this, yeah?
In chapter 20.
So I just want to let you guys take note that this was a high Sabbath.
All right?
There's a difference between the high Sabbath and the regular Sabbath.
So I want to direct you to...
Hang on a second.
it.
Thank you.
This picture here, right?
This is historically, biblically, according to what happened.
Now, we all heard, because of the Catholic Church and all that, that Jesus was crucified on a Friday and rose Sunday morning, right?
Jesus clearly stated that he'd be dead for three days and three nights.
So, if you think about it, right?
How is Friday to Sunday morning three days?
It's not.
It's less than technically it's a night with two days, full days, right?
It's less than 48 hours.
No, no, 72 hours, right?
So, the Biblical account, which we're going to get to some of this too at the next chapter, three days and three nights in the tomb.
So, we always talk about the High Sabbath, right?
The High Sabbath was going to a Thursday.
So Wednesday, they said Jesus was crucified on Wednesday, not Good Friday.
Right?
And if you're following where I'm going here.
So Wednesday, right?
When he died, he passed away, right?
They had to get him in the tomb before the sunset.
As Joseph pleaded for the body of Jesus, right?
They put him in the tomb.
Right?
So they put him in the tomb, whatever the case, and right before the sunset, the Sabbath.
The High Sabbath.
Specified the High Sabbath, right?
Not the weekly Sabbath.
So, him being in a day, right?
So check this out, right?
He died here, and they think it was about 3 p.m.
or whatever it was.
Uh, was crucified about 9 a.m.
And they believe about 3 p.m.
he died or whatever it is, right?
So if you do the calculations, right?
3 p.m.
Wednesday to Thursday is what?
One full day, 24 hours, right?
3 p.m.
Thursday to Friday 3 p.m.
is two full days.
It's 48 hours, right?
3 p.m.
Friday to 3 p.m.
Saturday is three full days.
32 hours, right?
So now when we move on, okay, the next chapter is you're gonna see when Mary Magdalene, right?
He rose, Jesus rose on the Saturday, on the Sabbath.
So where they, the things, the Catholic Church got this conception that he rose on a Sunday.
They did that purposely so they could keep the pagan holiday of Ishtar.
Easter.
There's nothing to do with Jesus.
It's a pagan holiday.
That's why they use the eggs and everything, the rabbits.
Because it's pagan holiday for San Marimasu.
Which is Isis, Ishtar.
Thousands of years old.
So they wanted to merge the two things together.
That's what happened.
Constantine did this, right?
But, everybody knew that Jesus rose on the Sabbath, right?
So the thing is, Mary Magdalene went, we're gonna see this, right?
Mary Magdalene went to the tomb.
It says, specified, before the sun came up on Sunday, the first day, right?
She went to the tomb and she seen an angel there.
She didn't see Jesus stand and resurrect.
There's no biblical evidence at all to remotely say that Jesus resurrected on Sunday.
Because it says he went to the tomb.
Because here's the thing, right?
They wanted to anoint Jesus' body, right?
They couldn't do that in time, before the Sabbath.
So, during this time, right?
They prepared spices to anoint Jesus' body on the Sabbath, right?
Before the weekly Sabbath, right?
This is after the High Sabbath, right?
So, they didn't get there on time.
To do that.
Because of the preparation day and night time.
So, when the Sabbath started.
Right?
And the Sabbath started, which is sunset.
The new day begins at sunset.
Not 12 a.m.
or midnight.
You know, back then the Bible says sunset, right?
So, they didn't get there on time.
So, Mary Magdalene, the woman, they didn't get there to Jesus on time.
So, they couldn't do it on a Sabbath.
So, they waited until Sunday to go and know His body.
But when she got there, she discovered his body was gone and there was an angel there.
Right?
And what did the angel tell her?
Behold, he's already gone.
Indicating that he's already gone.
She didn't get there, then he rose from the dead.
No.
He was already gone.
Early Sunday morning before the sun came up.
The angel told him he's already gone.
He's already got it.
So we've been lied to because of the Catholic Church and these modern day religions.
Because they don't know how to read scripture, right?
They go by religious dogma and traditional holidays that are not biblical.
And that's why I said in the past few chapters that the Passover is the biblical holiday, guys.
The Passover Jesus took part of.
Then we get to the Sabbath thing.
They say, oh, well, you know, modern day churches.
Well, they all met on Sunday, so it became the Lord's Day.
No, it did not.
The Lord's day is Saturday, Sabbath.
It was never changed or abolished.
And it didn't matter if Mary went over to the tomb on Sunday.
She could have went Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday.
The only reason why they didn't do it Saturday, because it was a Sabbath.
So the only reason why they didn't go there Saturday, because it was a Sabbath.
So at that point, it didn't matter if they went Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.
Wouldn't have mattered.
Or a year later.
He was already gone.
On the Sabbath day.
So if you guys can clearly see what the picture of this is.
This is biblical and historical accurate account.
The chronological of Jesus' crucifixion and resurrection.
So, you know, yeah.
The religions lie to us, guys.
And we're gonna see it right in the air from the Word of God.
And that's chapter 20 coming up.
So, thank you guys for joining us.
If you've got any questions, comments, or concerns or anything, I know I'm probably going to get a lot because it breaks tradition.
And people don't like when tradition is broken, but we know what does God say?
Too bad.
Follow God, not man's traditions.
Plain and simple.
Trust the real plan.
That's the Bible.
And don't take my word or anybody else's for it.
You need to go read it for yourselves.
And when you do read it for yourselves, you're going to find out, oh wow, that is true.
And we've been lying to them.
By religions.
That's why we follow God.
We follow the Bible.
We follow Jesus.
Holy Spirit.
Not religions.
Not any religions.
There's 40,000 different denominations.
Christianity.
There's all kinds of cults.
Eastern religions.
The Catholic Church and all that.
I don't follow any one of them.
At all.
I am a follower of Jesus Christ.
I don't need no religion or man's traditions.
And I highly encourage you guys to be the same.
Drop the pride, drop the traditions of man, and these fake holidays.
Easter is not a biblical holiday.
Never was, never will be.
Passover is.
It's not just for the Jews.
Jesus celebrated it, he kept it.
His apostles celebrated, kept it, and taught people to do so.
The early church fathers celebrated, kept it.
Christians for centuries kept the Passover.
Not Easter.
Easter came along through the Catholic Church that eventually influenced American Christians after.
And here's the thing too, if you look in history, right?
American Christians and Puritans never celebrated Easter or Christmas or Halloween.
Had nothing to do with Jesus.
None of them.
That stuff came over here in the late 1800s when the Catholic Church got infected in the United States.
So, how's that for a historical, biblical perspective?
Because they knew it had nothing at all to do with Jesus.
And they knew it's a pagan Holiday, that's what it is.
