truth radio show dot com and welcome to the damp and done show truth radio show dot com Welcome to the Gospel of John, an in-depth, comprehensive study, chapter by chapter.
So we're on chapter 17.
If you missed chapters 1 through 16, they're in our playlist on truthradioshow.com.
So from people new to the show here, we do a specific Bible study approach and people that do tune in all the time, we do this all the time before we do a video.
So number one, we pray for wisdom and understanding.
So let's do that right now.
So Jesus Yeshua, thank you so much for everything and thank you.
Thank you enough for going to Calvary for us.
And go to Calvary for us and die for our sins.
And we love you so much.
We pray that you forgive us all of our individual sins, trespasses, transgressions, or even abominations that we may have committed.
And we ask you to purify us, Lord, before the Father.
And Father, we come to you and ask for your great wisdom and understanding and to descend the great comforter to us individually.
To reveal this information, to write your word upon our hearts, to be our great comforter and our great teacher.
And we ask you to bless everybody here, protect everybody from evil, protect myself as well.
And we ask you to also to comfort anybody that's going through any kind of pains or trials or tribulations, to comfort them and bless them, Lord.
And we ask you in your mighty name.
Amen.
So, that being said, guys, what we do is read the Scripture in context, because context is key.
Remember that.
That's always very important to emphasize.
Read the Scripture in context.
We don't bounce around all over the Bible.
We read it chapter by chapter.
Context is key.
Learn the Scripture.
Interpret Scripture.
Don't lean on your own understanding.
And I'm certainly not leaning on my own understanding.
I'm relying on the Holy Spirit to teach me and you today, because I'm learning just as you are.
Man, I have to say this.
I'm not a pastor.
I'm not a prophet.
I'm not no rabbi or anything like that.
I'm not no apostle or disciple or anything like that.
Just a servant of Jesus Christ.
A follower of Jesus Christ.
Plain and simple.
So, turn to your Bibles, guys.
Open up to John chapter 17.
And people on ShakeAwayRadio.com listen to the audio version of this.
I would ask you to open up your own Bibles.
And people here on the video edition, it's right up on screen.
I use King James, but whatever.
Open up your own Bibles.
So anyway, now, to bring you up to date, if you don't remember chapter 16, This is Jesus giving its final instructions.
solutions.
This is like a mere hour or so before he's captured.
Before they come to capture him.
To put him to death.
He is giving his apostles final instructions.
Instructions that he has never talked to them about before.
Because he was with them.
Now he's saying, I'm about to leave.
And he tells them that the Holy Spirit is your divine comforter now.
When I leave y'all, I will send you the Holy Spirit to be your comforter and your teacher.
Right?
And he's prepping them for what's to come.
And he says, don't be, you know, you gotta grieve when I'm crucified, but when I resurrect, you gotta be full of joy.
But he says, when you put through tribulation, be of good cheer, because he's the one who will come to the world.
And again, as this is going on, right, you gotta remember, Judas Iscariot is right at this point, okay, in this time in account history, right, he's meeting with the Jewish elders, And leading them to where Jesus is.
He sold Jesus out.
So keep that in mind, right?
So, chapter 17.
So, here we go.
So, verse 1.
These words Jesus spoke, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour has come.
Glorify thy son, and thy son also may glorify thee.
Because he knows Judas is coming with the elders and the gods and all that to capture Jesus, right?
So, as thou has given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou has given them.
And this is life eternal.
That they might know the only true God, that you're the only true God in Jesus Christ whom you have sent.
So he's praying right now to the Father.
For everybody that follows him.
Fraternal life, right?
And he says, I have glorified thee on earth, talking to the Father.
I have finished the work which you have given me to do.
And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self, and with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.
So this is amazing, this is him talking directly to the Father.
And the apostles, obviously, they're sitting there listening.
That's how John was able to take account of this, right?
So, I have manifested my name, your name I'm sorry, thy name, unto men which thou gavest me out of the world.
And thine they were, and thou givest me thee, and they have kept my word.
And now they have known all the things whichever thou has given me and that me are of thee.
So he's saying like, yeah.
That when he spoke he's telling people that he's the father of the fathers and him, right?
That he's the Messiah, he's the Christ.
And at this time he's already spread his doctrine all throughout the area.
When he gave apostles and disciples The ability to go out and forgive sin, the ability to go out and cast out demons and everything else.
For that short amount of time.
So, verse 8.
So he's saying, I have spoken to them what you told me to tell them.
The Father told everything that Jesus spoke, it came from the Father.
That's what he's saying, right?
But he's talking to the Father.
I have told everybody what you want me to tell them.
And they have received them and have known surely that I come out of thee.
So they know surely that I am from you.
And they have believed that you did send me.
Talk about the believers.
So Jesus accomplished what God sent him here to do.
And he says, I pray for them.
I pray not for the world, but for them that which has given me.
And for they are thine, they are yours.
So he's praying for the apostles, all the believers, and us.
And all mine are thine.
So he's saying all what I got is yours.
And all of you are mine.
Referred to him in the Father of One, right?
And I glorified in them.
I am glorified in them, right?
And now I am no more in the world.
Because he's about to leave, right?
And I am no more in the world, but these are in the world.
And I come to thee.
Holy Father, keep through thy own name those who have hast given me.
So that they may be one as we are.
And he says, we are one.
The name of the Father is one.
So again, he's saying, I am no more in the world.
Okay, because he's about to lay, right?
But these are in the world.
And I come to thee.
And he says, while I was with them in the world, I kept them in my name, thy name, your name, right?
He's saying, I've kept them, the people with me, in your name.
Because how many times do we have to go through the Scriptures, right?
Jesus constantly stated, I come in the name of the Father.
I don't come here for my glory, don't come here to speak my words, I come here to speak the words of the Father.
He said that relentlessly, right?
That's what he's saying in prayer here to the Father.
While I was in the world with them, with the apostles, right?
I kept them in your name.
And those that gave me, I have kept.
And none of them is lost, but the son of perdition, that description might be fulfilled.
The son of perdition is the Antichrist that's to come, right?
The Satan in the flesh.
Yeah, it's basically Satan in the flesh, right?
Saying that he's lost, right?
Anyway, and now I come to you.
And these things I spoke to the world that they might have me joy-fulfilled in themselves.
So he's saying to the Father, I'm about to come to you, come return back to you, right?
And I have told people in the world exactly what was to happen, what's going to happen.
And he did.
We just read it.
16 chapters there.
And plus Matthew, Mark, and Luke, right?
That they might have joy fulfilled in themselves because he's overcome the world, right?
I have given them thy word.
You know, word in the mind is Jesus talking to the Father, right?
I have given them your word.
And the world has hated them.
Because they are not of the world.
Even as I am not of this world.
So talk about the apostles and everybody that followed them.
They say, I have given your word to them, right?
And the world hates them.
Because they're not of this world.
As Jesus is not of this world.
And as we are today, guys, we who follow Jesus, right?
We're not of this world.
We're to be in the world, but not of the world.
This place is only temporary for us, that's it.
So don't be worldly.
So I pray, not that you should take them out of the world, but that you should keep them from evil.
So he's asking the Father, you know, I'm not asking you to take them out of the world right now.
But keep them, protect them from evil.
And we just did that with a prayer.
Asking the Father to protect us from evil, right?
They are not of the world, even as I am not of this world.
Sanctify them through thy truth.
Thy word is truth.
And as we're reading now, the guys, this is sanctified.
This text here is sanctified in this truth.
This word is truth.
As you have sent me into this world, even so I have also sent them into the world.
So, what does that mean?
If you read through Matthew and all that, right?
We already read through all that, right?
And the Bible says here.
So, God sent Jesus to the world to minister, right?
To his word.
And as the Messiah, right?
So Jesus used his apostles and disciples Because remember, I think there was about 70 of them that he ordained as disciples.
Not just the regular 12.
The regular 12 were the head ones.
Then there was about 70 more just to spread the gospel, right?
And made, you know, basically priests out of them.
Like, you know, whatever the case was.
And as he sent me, again, God sent Jesus to the world, he's saying, right?
He sent me into the world.
Even so, I also sent them into the world to testify your word.
And for their sakes I sanctify myself that they may also be sanctified through the truth.
So this is Jesus advocating.
Going to bats for his people.
His apostles and disciples and all the believers, right?
Because he sanctified himself to sanctify us.
Because today we're the modern day People that, I don't want to say apostles, I don't like to call myself anything like that, but the modern day preachers, for his word.
And he says, Neither pray I for these alone, but for them which also shall believe on me through their word.
That whichever shall believe on me through their word.
So he goes, neither pray for IUDs alone, but also for those people who shall believe on me through their word.
Talking about people to come in the future that's going to end up believing him.
That's us!
He's praying for us at this point in time in history, right?
Before his perspective.
He's praying for us even before our life.
How's that, huh?
That's awesome.
That they may all may be one.
As though the Father are in me and I in thee.
That they also may be one in us.
That the world may believe that they have sent me.
That's awesome.
This is Jesus just pouring out his love for us guys.
His apostles at the time and the people to come.
Which was the people before us and us here and probably people after us too.
That's awesome!
We're at 22 and he says... So if you've been following the series guys... There is no... You should have no doubt at this point.
That him and the father are one.
He's God manifesting the flesh.
He's the messiah and also the father.
He's the son and also the father.
I know it's hard for humans to comprehend that.
Because we have these limitations in our heads set by mankind.
I learned to break through it.
But a lot of people just don't get it.
They can't understand.
It's like saying, how can I be in California or New York at the same time?
We can't.
But God can.
Don't ever set limitations on God.
Man's limitations on God.
Because God breaks all the laws of physics, science, and everything else.
They don't exist then.
him.
You've got to remember this is a supernatural being.
So verse 23 says, I in them and thou are in me, that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that you have sent me.
And has loved them, though as I have loved me.
So again, he's praying for us guys.
He's praying for the apostles, the followers of the time, and the future people, which is us, right?
So he's praying for us all to be made perfect in one, right?
That the world may know who has sent him, right?
That he's loved us.
He's loved us, right?
That has loved me.
So this is for us too.
This pertains to us too, guys.
In this modern day time, now we're at the end, guys.
We need to praise the word, preach the word, now more than ever.
Check this out, right?
And yeah, this is very powerful, right?
He's saying, you have loved me before the foundation of this world.
I am, that they may behold my glory which has given me, for they lovest me before the foundation of the world.
Check this out, right?
And yeah, this is very powerful, right?
He's saying, you have loved me before the foundation of this world.
Did you read that right?
Father, I ought that also...
they also, I'm sorry, whom that has given me, be with me where I am, and that they may behold my glory, which you have given me, for since you love me, right, for thou loved me, before the foundation of the world.
So God loved him before the foundation of the world.
So that even more indicates, right, because a lot of people think that Jesus was just created through Mary. - Okay.
He came into existence through Mary.
Now, this is the same Jesus as the one called the Lord of Spirits, that talked to Moses thousands of years before he came into the flesh.
Talked to Elias, talked to all the great prophets along the way.
To give prophecy of himself coming.
That they may tell the people of his coming, right?
Then thousands of years later, this happened.
Now here he is, he's in the world now.
Fulfilled the prophecies that he gave the prophets thousands of years before his birth.
So, Jesus was not created from the birth of Mary.
He was just manifested in the flesh, as the scripture says.
God manifested in the flesh.
So before the world was even created, the Father loved him.
He was here before them.
What do you think the light is?
Let there be light?
He's the light over this world.
And every time we see light, most of the time in the scripture, it associates with Jesus.
The light, the truth, the way.
We could go on to a whole thing with this, just this alone, through the scriptures and all that.
It's so amazing to really think about that.
He was there now, then, and forever.
So verse 25, O righteous Father, the world has not known thee, but I have known thee.
And these have known that you have sent me.
And this is again him praying to the Father.
And I have declared unto them your name, and will declare it, that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.
So he's declared unto the apostles, and now today us, the name, the father's name, right?
And we'll declare it.
And I declare it.
I declare the love of the father.
I declare the father.
You declare the father, right?
Yeah.
That the love whereith thou hast loved me, it may be in them.
And I in them.
So he is in with us, guys.
And we are in with them.
And the prayer continues on to chapter 17.
So, um, I like to stick, uh, chapter by chapter.
I would continue it, uh, because we try to keep things in context.
But what I'll do is at the next video, I'll remind you all this is a prayer.
So keep that in mind.
So you might want to watch these two back to back when they come out.
So when chapter 18 comes out, just watch 17 for us again, because this is him in a prayer to the Father.
So, let me see how long.
Whoops.
Whoops.
I'm gonna check out how long this prayer goes for.
Because again, this is him waiting.
Alright, that's the end of the prayer, right?
So we go to chapter 18.
This is the end of the prayer.
So it's chapter 18 starts when Jesus spoke these words and went forth to the disciples over the Brook Sedron and where there was a garden to where he entered and his disciples.
So alright, so So just remind yourselves when we watch chapter 18, this is the entire prayer.
The prayer to the Father, right?
So it starts chapter 18 into a new context.
So I'm glad it happened that way because this way we don't have to Go backtrack.
So anyway.
