The composite quartzite used for the statue was transported upriver against the Nile's current from the Red Mountains north of Cairo.

It comes from the Red Mountains north of Cairo. And the tricky part here is that the Nile River flows north, right? So it's like people, it's because it's north of people like, oh, it's flowing up, but it flows to the north. So they had to take the block for that thing, I'd say 1,500 tons easy. They had to bring that upriver, upriver, 600 miles or something, 500 miles.
