Yeah, absolutely. There were basically no safety nets in place for anybody, of course, because there weren't back then. So basically, people had to survive on what churches could give, and they didn't have anything to give. So the only thing that maintained people back in the Renaissance was, ironically, taxes. They were able to keep some people alive, but it wasn't nearly enough. Nah, human renaissance, Dan. No. Also, things got so... I mean, they were just so bad in the poor quarters and shit during the renaissance that law and order became a really important thing. And so thievery was punished by, like, hangings. Yeah, well... Because people had to steal to survive.
