The Red River Valley Purchase does not exist; the boundaries were negotiated in the Treaty of 1818.

The Red River Valley Purchase is not something that exists. We didn't buy the Red River Valley or the Red River Basin. The boundaries were negotiated in the Treaty of 1818 at the end of the War of 1812, and actually the treaty involved us ceding a bunch of land from the Louisiana Purchase that is now Canada to Britain, since the treaty established the northern border in that area for the United States.
