The Kansas City inland port is considered sovereign soil of Mexico.

More than 80 federal and state highways have been designated as international arteries. The I-35 NAFTA corridor starts deep inside Mexico and travels through the middle of the United States and ends in central Canada. Container ships from Asia dump their cargo on the Pacific side of Mexico. It then travels duty-free by rail to the new Kansas City inland port, now considered sovereign soil of Mexico.

The Kansas City port is not Mexican sovereign territory; the proposal was for a customs office space designated as foreign territory to streamline imports and exports.

Yeah, this isn't true. Wait, wait, wait, what? So the proposal was made, and this was evidenced by some emails that were sent by a guy named Chris Gutierrez, the president of the Kansas City Smart Port. And the idea was that the Mexican customs office space would need to be designated as foreign Mexican sovereign territory and meet certain requirements. Oh, yeah, because... It would have to be. Under this plan, what would happen with this port in Kansas City? This is actually really interesting. I disagree with a lot of it, I'll be honest. But it's actually really interesting, the proposal that they made. And that was that... So what you'd have is you'd have this giant road that leads from Mexico, a port in Mexico, and the first stop they would make would be in Kansas City. And at that point, there would be Mexican and American customs officials. So they could check the stuff. And the reason they would do this would be to streamline imports and exports in terms of shipping things out of Kansas City and into Kansas City.
