The Glass-Steagall Act was signed by FDR to separate commercial banks from investment banks.
So we have this thing called Glass Steagel, right? It was signed by FDR. Basically, there was a bunch of reckless lending for stocks, trading terrible loans, and for a big reason why the actual depression happened. Do we have that 2.3 Stiegler signed by FDR? Let's look at that photo there. So, essentially, what you got to understand is after the Great Depression, the government created a rule. They said, all right, look, banks hold people's savings. They cannot also make risky Wall Street bets. And that's a huge thing, right? So the rule separated commercial banks, like your checking, your savings, and then it separated the investment bank side, which is like your stocks, bonds, and trading.
