So in response to the outbreak, China put the city of Wuhan, where the virus is believed to have originated, on lockdown. That city alone is home to 11 million people, and this lockdown was later extended to surrounding areas, and at the time of the writing of this episode, the preparation, it was covering an area of about 56 million people.
