Also, Heaton argues that the rise in suicide rates among youth in the 90s is attributable to what she calls, quote, death education in schools. This is a piece of Alex's rhetoric that I've heard a ton of times, but I've never really known where he's getting it from, but it's literally spelled out in this weird self-published book. I'm not saying necessarily that he got it from there. It could be from another source. But it's something that I don't really hear from other places. The idea that teaching kids about the dangers of suicide and suicidal thinking causes them to commit suicide.
