To participate in many voucher programs, parents must sign away some or all of the protections and rights under federal law.

Florida's McKay scholarship requires students to forfeit their rights under the Americans with Disabilities Act without clearly stating this condition to parents.

Private schools receiving vouchers can reject disabled students by claiming they are an undue burden.

Now, within the voucher programs also, because it makes it very difficult to deal with these students, because you have to create these IEPs, these individual education programs, because the federal law demands that, these private schools that you can get vouchers to get into can just deny students. Because, oh, this would be an undue burden to our school. We can't handle this. Or whatever. And they can just say, no, we don't. We don't want you.
