The Nobel Prize was awarded for avermectin's discovery as an anti-parasitic drug, not as an antiviral.

In 2015, William C. Campbell, he co-won the Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine for his contributions to the discovery of avermectin, from which ivermectin was derived. Gotcha. It didn't win the Nobel Prize as a health supplement or as an antiviral, though, which Alex is claiming. It was specifically about it being a really exciting anti-parasitic drug that had been discovered.
