Rights are not settled until the people trying to outlaw them are no longer in power.

I think we're trapped in a very regular place, which is that we think time is long. You think, oh, this has been a settled problem, but Obama wasn't sure if gay people should get married. Right. We thought, oh, Roe is done because it had been legal for 50 years. Yeah. That's not how long these things take. Abortion was legal before it was illegal for a length of time. And then they spent years outlawing it. And then we spent years trying to get it back. And then they spent years outlawing it again. It's not settled until the people who are trying to outlaw it are no longer in power. And are no longer allowed to have power.
