Time Text
You're listening to the Liberty News Radio Network, and this is the Political Cesspool.
The Political Cesspool, going across the South and worldwide as the South's foremost populist conservative radio program.
And here to guide you through the murky waters of the political cesspool is your host, James Edwards.
And there proclaim, Oh my God, how great the Lord!
Then sing my song, Savior of God through thee.
How great the Lord, how great the Lord.
Let sing my song, Savor God, through thee.
The king of rock and roll, ladies and gentlemen, entered into his eternal reward 40 years ago this week.
Welcome back to the third and final hour of tonight's live broadcast.
It's Saturday evening, August 19th.
Elvis died August 16th, 1977.
We mentioned it being Elvis Week in the first hour, and that during this Elvis live in concert at the FedEx Forum in downtown Memphis, Tennessee on Wednesday night, Priscilla Presley introduced Dixie, and she said Elvis loved the South and that's why he loves singing this song.
They also played that great gospel hymn, How Great Thou Art, during the live concert.
So in this day and age, for the Elvis concert in the current year, to play a gospel hymn like that and Dixie, I took a great amount of encouragement from.
And let me just tell you something, folks.
The spirit and the flesh, we've said this before, our spirit and our flesh must be complementary.
I respect a lot of the things that are going on in the alt-right, and I respect a lot of my friends who are leading the alt-right, who are non-believers, but they will not lead us to the ultimate victory.
You're dead on arrival without something more here than that.
You have to have a faith in God our Creator and in Jesus Christ working in cooperation with our cultural heritage.
The spiritual heritage and our cultural heritage must be united.
If you have one and not the other, whether it's these people fighting for our racial heritage who are lost or these cucked out Christians who are fighting against their own kind, neither of those two are the answer.
The answer is the joint union between our faith, the faith of our fathers, and defense of our flesh and blood.
And that's just the way I see it, Eddie.
James, we're one of the few, and maybe the only, besides the League of the South, of course, and the Council of Conservative Citizens before that, perhaps we're the only prominent leaders of the alt-right who are equal parts pro-Christian and pro-white.
You know, James, I've known you many years, and of all the things I've ever heard you say, I think that's probably the greatest thing you've ever said.
And I'll tell you what, it is so true.
I was going to say the same thing.
I was going to tell James before I leave out here tonight.
I was going to say something similar to that, but I would like to say, start with this.
Once again, I'm going to tell you people out there how proud I was to be embedded with the League of the South.
I am a member of the League of the South.
And one of the things I've done, and I told Dr. Michael Hill not long ago, there's a great guy in our movement.
But I told Dr. Hill that the reason me and him get along, me and Dr. Hill get along so great instantly.
We got along instantly because we were both Christians.
And a Christian, I was another Christian.
But I'm telling you, people, I would not lie to you knowingly, but I met my Savior Jesus Christ back in February the 8th of 2009.
I've never been the same.
I've never been.
Very old in life.
Very well.
Older than most people.
Much older.
I can tell you flat out, it's not what if or maybe.
I promise you to God, it's real.
And James is telling you real.
I don't care what we do, we cannot succeed without Jesus Christ.
Now, we have to get that.
And people would say, I want you to talk about this because you watched this, Keith Ditton.
That kid, that 18-year-old who went to Charlottesville after the rally and saluted the general with respect and admiration, saluted the statue of General Lee, was pelted with profanities and spit and middle fingers an inch from his nose.
He never blinked.
And he never blinked.
And he said, I'm here to honor my ancestors.
And it wasn't about slavery and it wasn't about oppression.
And that kid went home after that, and he was immediately expelled from Pensacola Baptist College because of the intolerable sin of racism.
So people would say, well, you know what, James and Eddie, you're wrong because look at these churches.
Yes, look at the churches.
The church will be routed.
The churches of the church leadership need to be routed.
Just like the cucks need to be routed from our government.
The cucks need to be routed from our pulpits.
But that is not an indictment against the gospel of Jesus Christ.
That is an indictment against usurpers who have infiltrated the church.
And for that kid, though, to lose his scholarship at a Christian college because he went there is abominable and it's from the pit of hell.
And well, I'm going to get too worked up, and I'm going to say something I shouldn't say on AM radio.
Keep going.
But you wouldn't say that we don't need to use the media just because the media is controlled and operated by the enemy.
And I would say to you, we need the media.
We need all of our institutions and we need the church.
If we're ever going to win, we need God on our side.
And just because God's on our side doesn't mean we're going to win, but I can guarantee you we won't win.
We will in the end.
In the end, we will win.
I'm telling you what, it is impossible.
I'm telling you, it is impossible to win.
You watch that video, though.
Alan Ermintrautz's name, hashtag on Twitter, I stand with Alan, A-L-L-E-N.
Look him up, watch his video.
This man showed more heroism, more courage than any politician, than Russell Moore, than any so-called Christian leader.
And I do say so-called.
This kid needs your support.
He's lost his scholarship.
He's lost his position at his college at a Christian college, no less, because he stood with the Confederate flag and saluted the greatest Christian that there's been in the modern era, Robert E. Lee.
The very virulence, pure hatred.
Russell Moore and the Church of Satan stand in solidarity against this kid.
The virulence and pure hatred of those people getting right in his face was just a you watched it.
What was it like when you watched it?
You need to watch it talking about it.
I saw that in Charlottesville myself, but not as intense because they didn't get in my face that close.
They really didn't.
But he was standing alone.
Yeah, he was.
That's right.
Alan Ermintrautz's name.
Google him.
I stand with Alan.
Hashtag I stand with Alan, A-L-L-E-N on Twitter.
Watch this video.
Support this kid, folks.
He risked a lot.
He showed a lot more courage than most men.
He's half my age now.
What is he?
18?
Yeah, something like that.
You know, people, I was going to say, yeah, we take our knocks.
We've been beat down a lot.
We get beat, but you know what?
You know, people in Charlottesville last week who lost their jobs.
I sure do.
Then well, hang on you're you're, you.
I don't know what you're doing with your mic tonight, but anyway, finish up on this one, okay.
Well okay, there we go.
Anyway people, I was gonna say, listen, don't give up.
We all get down, James gets down Keith me, we get down, sometimes get discouraged because we take battle.
We're in a battle right now we can't even mention, we can't tell you about, but I'll tell you flat out, never ever ever, give up, and I know it's an old cliche, But it's darkest right before the dawn.
It always is.
And you have to have faith.
God will test you.
He tests you constantly.
And the people who hang on to the very end, we're going to be rewarded.
And we will win.
I promise you that.
All right, folks, that's it for Eddie the Bob and Miller tonight.
Jim Lancier, our criminal justice correspondent, going to be on.
We're going to talk about the Charlottesville, Boston, and Barcelona.
We got to work in Boston and Barcelona tonight.
And keep the Alexander be with us for the rest of the show as well.

And now back to tonight's show.
Okay, folks.
Jim Lancia, our correspondent, author of the book Downtown White Police, great all-around guy.
He was with us two weeks ago and did a masterful job during the third hour of that particular broadcast, helping us interview Simon Roche.
And now Jim's back.
Jim has done another great YouTube installment for his YouTube channel and show Cop Shootout, in which he offers his thoughts on Charlottesville.
We've not yet posted that to thepoliticalspool.org, but we will next week.
So if you haven't caught it yet on YouTube, you can catch it on our website in a day or two.
But anyway, with that being said, Jim, we want to go on world tour with you right now.
There's a lot of ground to cover, and we only have two segments to do it, and maybe not even that much time.
I certainly want you to give us your hot take on Charlottesville.
There's no way you will have the time to present your comprehensive assessment of that.
We've spent the whole show tonight.
We've only scratched the surface.
But Charlottesville, then we definitely need to talk to you about what happened in Boston today and in Barcelona as well.
So Charlottesville, Boston, and Barcelona, go, Jim.
All right, James.
Thanks for having me.
Okay, first of all, Charlottesville, this is the left's new way to shut down free speech.
Clear and simple.
Activist governors, activist mayors, activist vice mayors, and police chiefs using the police department as their own personal goons permit.
Protesters are silenced and restricted of their First Amendment rights and Black Lives Matter in collusion with police departments and corrupt police chiefs on orders of corrupt mayors.
This is the new way to shut down free speech.
It's the same in Boston.
You have people doing a free speech rally and you have counter-demonstrate.
Countering what?
Free speech?
I mean, I've never seen anything like this in my life.
And you look at mainstream media, and all they're doing is saying they're painting the free speech people who are peacefully assembling to exercise the First Amendment rights.
And they're demonizing them as Nazis now.
And it's just using the catchphrases, white supremacists and Nazis, regardless of what they're there for.
And even if they were white supremacists and Nazis, which most of them are not, they have a right to assemble if they have a permit to do it, or even if they don't have a permitted, you know, we have a right to assemble, or they have a right to assemble.
So that's what we're seeing right now.
And the Barcelona thing, what I know about that, they're trying to equate the Barcelona with Trump trying to, you know, be equal in his condemnation of what happened in Charlottesville.
And they're just, they're trying to lump everything up into one stupid ball.
Jim, this is Keith Alexander.
Can you hear me?
Yes, sir.
How you doing, Keith?
Doing great.
Let me just ask you this.
Wolf Blitzer on CNN was trying to equate James Fields with the Islamist terrorist in Barcelona.
That is the craziest comparison I've ever seen.
Guy in Barcelona was up on the sidewalk going from side to side, mowing down as many people as he could.
I have this bad feeling in my gut as a lawyer that somehow they're trying to railroad this fields guy.
I think he stayed in the roadway all the time.
They were trying to break the windows out of his car and if they had, they probably would have hauled him out.
But they're saying he is a the equivalent of an Islamic terrorist, because it seems to me like he panicked, and with good reason, with Antifa people busting out his windows and trying to get him.
That's one thing.
The other thing about free speech in Boston, it doesn't matter what you call yourself.
I thought it was a great move by the right alt-right people to call themselves the free speech demonstration or the FREE Street Speech Counter UH UH group, but on the other hand, it doesn't matter if they call you a racist or a bigot or a white supremacist.
You've been reduced to the status of a cockroach and basically it's like a prelude to being killed.
All right Jim, break down what happened in Boston today, because i'm not as familiar with that spending so much time in preparation for the other things we had to cover tonight.
I'm leaving that to your call.
What happened in Boston today, in your own words?
Well, I just looked into it briefly.
I don't think too much really happened there, other than I think the rally was shut down by counter demonstrators.
It's going to be uh, it's going to be a trend.
But let's go back to that driver.
I don't even know you.
You realize that driver was a Hillary supporter right, and there's a lot of discrepancies.
That Fields guy.
There's a lot of discrepancies about that.
Now, I don't know if you guys have seen some of the enhanced photos of the driver, but it does not look like the Fields guy.
It doesn't look like him and they're just trying somebody.
There's some credible information out there that the guy is actually military trained, not the Fields guy, the one who drove the car uh, professionally drove the car.
That's why the cops didn't stop him.
If you see some video that that vehicle was driving after the incident, right by the police and they did nothing to try to stop the vehicle.
It's as if they knew that that vehicle was going to be involved in an accident.
Okay uh, so I wouldn't be so quick, I wouldn't be too quick to defend that Fields guy because, no matter what he.
He was a Hillary supporter and I think he was a plant.
Now that could be a little strange.
Well, here's the point, Jim.
The left media has rushed to judgment about him.
We have come up with an alternative, and there may and neither one of them may have an ounce of truth to him.
It may be, like you said, that he was some type of fifth columnist working for the left in this.
You know all of a hell of a fall for his cause if that's the case.
But but let me just tell you this, you know that that's.
It's really a shame that we're at the point in our history here where nobody can trust anything that comes out of the mainstream.
Well, and the media couldn't be more happy that somebody died at that rally, whether it was intentional, whether it was preconceived, whether It was in self-defense.
He panicked whether he wanted to murder somebody, whether he was a nut, whether he was on drugs, whatever the case, whether he was right, whether he was left.
The media loves it.
And Jim can, of course, tell you why.
Can I give you a prime example of how sick everything's becoming?
Did you hear the stupid statements by Marco Rubio, Republican from Florida?
He actually tweeted that some of the violence on the left was justified to suppress the voice of Nazis and white supremacy.
Can you believe that?
Where did the First Amendment go?
Where did the right of free speech and freedom of assembly go?
Actually, he's justifying violence for a permitted free speech rally, whatever, whatever they were doing there.
Okay, they were there for Robert E. Lee Monument, but of course they're painting the picture that, you know, it was about white supremacy.
So not only did they lie about that, these are elected officials lying about the reason for the event.
And then they're justifying violence by Antifa and Black Lives Matter on a legally permitted event.
It's a disrupt, legally permitted event with violence.
And he said it was justified.
That's impossible.
Well, it's called it.
Well, what it is, Jim, is this.
There is a legal remedy for people that try to suppress people's civil rights, including their First Amendment rights.
It's called a 1983 action.
Basically, the organizers of the Unite the Right rally and also the people in Boston, the free speech rally, need to bring 1983 actions against the government, the mayor of Charlottesville, the Charlottesville Police Department, and whoever you feel is primarily responsible in Boston for denying the First Amendment rights of those protesters.
I think if the kid that was involved in this rundown at Charlottesville is not, basically, if he's represented properly, he should file immediately for a motion for change of venue.
It doesn't matter what the facts are.
There's no way he could get a fair trial in Charlottesville.
All right, hold on.
When we come back, we're going to talk a little more about Charlottesville, a little more about Barcelona, and a little bit more about Boston.
There is actually one takeaway from Boston and just the limited amount of time I was able to look into it that I would like to pass by Jim Lancia, our special guest tonight and correspondent, and he'll answer that much more right after this.
Stay tuned.
Exposing corruption.
Informing citizens.

All right, so Jim Lancia, the Alpha Cop, spent a career as a police officer in Bridgeport, Connecticut, patrolling the ghetto at the height of the crack epidemic.
You've seen his book.
We hope you've read his book, Downtown White Police.
If not, check it out on Amazon.com, Downtown White Police by James Lancia.
Our good friend and yours.
Jim, so in Boston today, like you, I didn't have a chance to follow that thoroughly.
What I do know about it is that it was a generic free speech rally.
It wasn't an alt-right rally per se.
It certainly wasn't a rally memorializing a Confederate owners treated it just like Charlottesville.
Right, right.
Yeah, go, Jim.
No, yeah, actually, I have something important to say about that.
I just realized that they made 27 arrests and there was a huge amount of counter protesters and they shut it down.
But the problem now is that the Boston police commissioner, William Evans, actually is siding with counter protesters.
He's actually saying, here's he's quoted as saying, overall, everyone did a good job, Evans, the police commissioner said.
99.99% of the people were here for the right reason, and that's to fight bigotry.
So these cops are actually siding with the counter-protesters now.
Same like they did in Charlottesville.
It's ridiculous.
It's just like the media did in the civil rights movement.
Well, and like they did in Memphis, too, when we had the thugs blocking the interstate traffic on the Mississippi River Bridge on Interstate 40, and the police commissioner went out there and marched hand in hand with them here in Memphis.
And Jim, Jim, how about this?
So you're a lifelong cop.
You had a career as a police officer, so there's nobody we could go to with a better perspective on this issue than you.
I actually saw a tweet from the Boston Police Department in which they were pleading with protesters to please, they weren't demanding, they weren't saying there was going to be a sure retribution if you didn't stop, but they know pleading with them, please stop throwing urine and acid at our police officers.
Jim, had that been the Bridgeport Police Department, had that been your unit, would you have pleaded with the protesters to stop throwing acid and urine at you if they were being disruptive?
No, James, that's what nightsticks are for.
There would have been crap heads, the crowd would have dispersed, and we would have made many arrests.
And then the problem would have been solved.
This modern-day police, modern day, well, it wasn't that long ago, but long enough where a change has occurred that I cannot fathom.
The cops today are not only seeming to be working along with the activists, but they are so dumbed down and so weakened by political correctness that the American streets are not going to be able to be policed anymore.
And for these high-up officials, whether it's in Charlottesville or Boston, to side with any side, first of all, but to side with the activist side, the very activist side that calls for the death of police officers, Fryman Bacon, and all this, they're actually siding with the enemy, and they're actually violating the rights of Americans.
So they are actually on the side of the bad guys here.
And that's what my video was about on my downtown White Police YouTube channel.
I actually called out the cops because some of the cops in Charlottesville were speaking out and saying they were given stand down orders.
It's illegal.
You cannot tell officers not to do their jobs.
Go ahead.
And Jim, Jim, this is Keith.
I don't know if you're familiar with the concept of anarcho-tyranny.
That's anarchy with controlling real criminals and tyranny using the laws to oppressively tyrannize law-abiding citizens.
Sam Francis was the author of that theory.
This seems to be exactly what is occurring now in America routinely.
And before Jim answers it, I know we got to get Scoop on too because Scoop has a big announcement.
We'll talk more about Boston if it's warranted next week.
But the big takeaway from Barcelona, just to put a cap on that, just another routine terrorist attack in Europe.
I mean, it's such commonplace now.
We used to bring Bergen on every week when they would have one.
We wouldn't even be able to – we'd talk about nothing else but that if that's all we covered, if we covered it every time it happened.
But Trump said the right thing in response to Barcelona, and of course the press crucified him for not saying that.
Well, there's a big difference between what happened in Barcelona and what happened in Charlottesville.
In Barcelona, you had an outright terrorist in Charlottesville.
You had a group of peaceful, permitted demonstrators honoring a great Christian American who were set up by the government to ensure that there would be violence.
A big difference between Charlottesville and Barcelona.
But I want to bring Scoop on right now because he has a very important announcement that involves our good friend and correspondent Jim Lancia.
Scoop, are you there?
Yes, I am.
Can y'all hear me?
We hear you clear, brother.
Okay, I just want to make this real quick.
I don't want to bust into Jim's time.
But, you know, this is like the second, third time me and Mr. Lancia spoke.
But anyways, huge breaking news that's going to change the radio forever.
Yours truly and Mr. Lancia are going rogue.
We are starting our own radio program that's going to follow the political cesspool.
We're going to call it Red42 and honor Jim's former union number with Richport's Police Department.
We're going on an hour after this cesspool because there's just so many things going on.
This is two weeks of Charlotte that we need another hour.
Now, we're trying to work out the details, website, pumpkin music, things of that nature.
But we don't want your money.
That's right.
We don't want your money.
We want advertisers.
We want sponsors for the show.
So if you have a good services or product you want to advertise, please contact Sam at Liberty News Radio or check out our website, red42.org.
Red42.org.
James, thank you.
All right.
So basically, folks, we've known about this for a couple of weeks.
I'm very excited about the prospects of this.
Red42.org, Red42 was Jim's unit number, if I'm not mistaken, his unit designation when he was a police officer in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
And so we're taking you.
Well, Jim will remain on YouTube where you need to be watching every installment of his cop shootout channel.
But he'll now be on the AM radio as well here in Memphis and elsewhere on the Liberty News Radio Network.
Immediately following the political cesspool, once the launch date is secured, that will be essentially our fourth hour.
A spin-off show in effect, but much more than that, of course.
Jim Lancey and Scoop Stanton, Red 42, hopefully coming soon to this network and to finer radio stations across the country.
Courtesy of the Liberty News Syndicate immediately following the political cesspool as soon as everything gets put into place.
Jim, again, brother, very excited to hear that you may be a part of this project.
Oh, well, you know, of course, we'll just, you know, we'll shadow you guys.
We'll come right after you guys.
You guys are the best at it.
You guys are the pros.
We're just the amateurs, and we're going to try to have some fun.
I don't know about that now.
Give you guys a little, you know, just pick up a little where you guys leave off.
But so, yes, this, as a former police officer, bothers me, the police officers now, the police departments are being used as activists or as strongarms for the activists.
And it is bothering me.
It's very concerning because you don't know what you're going to get now.
You don't know how the police are going to act.
Instead of being impartial, oh, like you were saying, I believe it's tyranny under the color of law.
You know, you're a lawyer, so you know the word the color of law.
When you use the color of law to, you know, to do something illegal with the power of the law, it's a very serious charge.
And I believe old police departments are becoming that way under the color of law.
What do you think?
Yeah.
I think they are.
They're oppressing law-abiding citizens like the permitted protesters at Charlottesville.
And they are tyrannically enforcing the law against them.
Meanwhile, they're allowing anarchy to run amok among leftists, criminals, violent criminals, against not only the lawful protesters, but against the police.
Well, I know Scoop had a segment tonight that he was going to present in his normal time slot, and we had to adjust that because of his work schedule.
So we'll give Scoop double the pleasure next week.
I just want to reiterate before we run out of time this segment, and I would give Jim and Scoop the rest of the show if it were not for the fact that a very good friend of ours passed away this week, and we're going to eulogize him in the final segment.
So stay tuned to learn who that is and why it's so important to us.
A movie star, friend of ours, and early supporter.
The first show was he not involved in.
He was right there.
He spoke at our kickoff party.
I guess that's probably giving it away.
And he's starred in some of the best action movies of the 1980s.
And he is now with his savior.
And we're going to eulogize him in the next segment.
So stay tuned for that or else we give the rest of the program to Jim.
But be sure to check Jim at the Cop Shootout Show on YouTube.
And we're going to be reposting his most recent video about Charlottesville so you can get a full breakdown from Jim with regard to his opinion on the situation at thepoliticalcesspool.org this week.

As the United States boldly stepped forward in the glorious light provided by its new constitution in 1787, the nations of the earth were in awe of the newfound strength and hope of this free land.
Today, the nation stands at a crossroads.
A divergence from the original intent put forth in the United States Constitution has brought grave threats to our beloved nation.
A miracle is needed if the United States is to survive.
That miracle is again the pure application of the United States Constitution.
I'm Scott Bradley.
In my To Preserve the Nation book and lecture series, I bring forth truths that will help raise up a new generation of statesmen like those noble Americans who founded this land.
Vigorous application of these principles will invigorate and restore the nation, and we may become again the freest, most prosperous, most respected, and happiest nation on earth.
Visit topreservethenation.com to begin that restoration.
Okay, girls, about finished with your lesson on money?
Daddy, what is a buy-sell spread for gold coins?
Well, when you sell a gold coin to a coin shop that's worth, say, $1,200, you don't actually get $1,200.
But don't worry, we're members of UPMA now, so we don't have to worry about that.
Daddy, why is somebody seal that gold?
We don't have any gold at the house.
It's stored safely in the UPMA vault, securely and insured.
But the SP 500 outperformed gold.
Daddy, gold is a bad investment.
Some people do think of it that way, but actually, gold is money.
And as members of the United Precious Metals Association, we can use our gold at any store, just like a credit card.
Or I can ask them to drop it right into Mommy and Daddy's bank account because we're a UPMA member family.
Find out more at UPMA.org.
That's upma.org each week.

Sonny, yesterday my life was filled with rain.
Sonny, you smiled at me and that really easy thing.
Now the dark days are done and the bright days are here.
My sunny one shines so sincere.
Sonny one so true.
I love you.
Sonny, thank you for the sunshine.
Sonny, thank you for the love you brought my way.
You gave me your all.
And now I feel 10 feet tall.
Sonny one so true.
I love you.
I did love that man.
I did love Sonny Landam.
Sonny Landam, my good friend, has departed this earth as of two days ago at the age of 76.
He passed away at a hospital in Lexington, Kentucky.
A man's man by anybody's estimation.
He passed away of congestive heart failure at the age of 76.
You know, if it had been a normal week, had it not been for Charlottesville and the Confederate monuments and everything else, we would have spent at least an hour, if not even maybe the whole show, eulogizing Sonny Landam.
He spoke at the Political Cess Pools kickoff party.
Now, this was a movie star from Predator, 48 Hours, so many other action movies of the 1980s and beyond, coming down to help us get kicked off.
Six foot six, half American Indian, right?
Well, yes, and he and of that half, he was part Cherokee, part Seminole.
And we talked and visited regularly ever since we first met back in 2004, right, when the Political Cess Pool was getting started.
And he helped us get things started.
He was a regular guest on this show.
I remember one show we did on New Year's Eve a few years back.
He was on for the full three hours.
We compartmentalized each hour contemporary politics, his career in movies, and our times together.
And our times together, believe me, some of it isn't fit for the years of our women and children.
Not ready for prime time.
But I had a lot of fun with that man.
And it's hard to believe that he's gone.
I saw the news.
He had just called me not long ago and left a message for me.
And I was at his wedding a few years ago.
My wife and I attended his wedding.
I was in the dressing room with Sonny before his wedding back, that was in Kentucky a few years ago.
And we were just in there hanging out in the dressing room before he got married.
It was just me and Sonny.
And he went out and got married.
We had a great time.
I knew his kid, Mo.
Sonny was 76.
His kid was eight, I think.
It was a Donald Trump clone.
Talked to Sonny on my way to speak at a League of the South meeting in Arkansas, not the most recent one where Andrew Fraser was doing his book release, but one last year, and I was talking to Mo on the phone, and Sonny, just incredible.
I mean, you remember him, of course, as the man who faced down the Predator on the log bridge where he cut his chest with a machete.
That actually happened.
That wasn't a special effect.
That was an act of, what is it, McKismo?
Giving it all for his craft.
Arnold Schwarzenegger bet Sonny that he wouldn't actually cut himself with a real knife.
And Sonny went on there and did it.
In fact, John McTiernan, the director of that movie, said he had to get extra insurance not to protect the actors from people who would want to harm them, but to protect the actors from Sonny.
But Sonny was a great guy.
He had a heart of gold.
I spent countless hours with him breaking bread.
We went to a casino one night and shut the place down.
We went to a casino one night.
We had an appearance we had to be at the next morning.
I was going to give a talk, and he was going to do, he was going to sign some copies of the movie Predator.
And we had to be at that movie.
This was back when they actually still sold DVDs and cassettes at a store.
And now I think everything's digital.
But we stayed up to five in the morning at the casino, had to be at this place at nine.
That was a hell of a night, let me tell you.
And yeah, Sonny came down to Memphis.
Sonny wouldn't call into.
Now, he did call into the show many times, but not every time.
Sometimes he would actually drive down to Memphis just to be with us in the studio.
And we did that.
And we had great times.
My wife knew him.
My parents knew him.
He was a great friend.
We talked on all the holidays, and he would call to check in regularly, and we would do the same.
And I'll tell you another story about Sonny that should be remembered.
But there's so many.
Art Frith, our legendary producer on this show, was in touch with me today.
He said, you've got to remind the people about Sonny in the hospital.
Well, there was one night where we had scheduled Sonny in advance to be on the show.
This was, again, a few years ago.
We'd scheduled Sonny to be on the show.
And it just so happened that he had had a medical setback and he had had to go to the hospital suddenly.
And we didn't know that.
And he didn't have time to tell us because, after all, it was a sudden hospitalization.
He didn't have time to prepare for it.
It wasn't on the schedule.
Well, he was supposed to be with us as scheduled.
And so we called him at the time of his appearance, live on the radio, of course, as we always are.
And he answered his cell phone, and he said, oh, I forgot to tell you, I'm in the hospital right now.
They're about to take me back to anesthesia.
And he was actually, folks, you got to listen to this interview if you can find it in the archives, or we'll find it for you and direct you to it.
They were taking him back to put him under, to do a surgery on him.
He made the nurse stop and leave him be until he finished the interview.
Now, that's incredible.
They were taking him to anesthesia.
He put the nurse off and did the show.
And there was another time when he – Show must go on.
Show must go on.
And there was another time when he was running for governor of Kentucky.
He was going to run for governor of Kentucky as the Libertarian candidate.
This might have been 2008, 2010, maybe 2012 even.
It might have been 2012.
How the years blur together now.
We've been through so much.
But Fox News was going to have him on one of their premiere shows to announce his candidacy for governor.
And Fox News had sent a limo.
The limo driver for Fox News was banging on the door, telling Sonny to come out.
They needed to get him to the studio.
It was going to be a satellite interview from his home in Kentucky.
And Sonny went out and he put the Fox News people on hold.
He said, I'm doing an interview with James Edwards right now, and I'll be with y'all after I get off the political cesspool.
Now, that, more than anything, is a takeaway from who Sonny Landham was.
And instead, of all of our people, God bless them, who love to cast their pearls before swine and will take any establishment media interview that they can get.
I have turned down hundreds of them over the course of the last year because we need to be building our own media.
We're wasting our time.
And Sonny Landham knew that.
Sonny Landam put the political cesspool before Fox News.
And he announced on the political cesspool that he was running for governor of Kentucky.
And then he went and announced it on Fox News.
Well, I could tell you those stories and a hundred more like it.
I miss my friend.
I found out yesterday.
I'm heartbroken over it.
Sonny Landham was one in a million.
You've seen his movies.
You know the iconic character.
Yeah, watch him again.
You know the iconic character he played in Predator, Billy.
He was the last person to die in that movie.
And then Arnold killed the Predator.
Actually, Arnold Schwarzenegger himself tweeted his condolences to Sonny Landham.
But I doubt even Arnold knew Sonny the way I knew him.
And I doubt even Arnold spent as much time with Sonny as I did.
And Sonny, my brother, God bless you.
I know you're in a better place, and we miss you.
And I'll miss your laugh, that iconic laugh.
I'll miss your friendship.
And I've definitely lost Keith, a close personal friend, not just to me, but to my entire family.
And to our listening audience as well.
He truly was a larger-than-life individual.
He's six foot six.
He was a man's man in every way.
Like you said, he's 76 years old and had an eight-year-old child.
That tells you something about that.
Well, anyway, and he was as loyal a friend to the political cesspool as anyone could be.
Yeah, there'll never be another man with that former clout.
Now, you could say, well, he hadn't been in movies in a long time.
Well, no, he had, but he's been in some of the most iconic movies you know.
Predator, probably one of the most iconic along with Aliens, the Alien franchise.
Predator, probably the most iconic science fiction series ever.
And he was in 48 Hours.
He worked with all the, you know, that's another Nick Nolte, Eddie Murphy, Arnold Schwarzenegger.
He worked with so many of Hollywood's leading characters.
A-list male leads.
Yeah, and we talked about that.
Oh, man, the stories he could tell.
And he told a lot of those stories on the air.
I'll keep a few of them in my heart.
But there was one night where we talked just about his career in the movies.
And he could just, well, you want to listen to those stories because to be up close and personal with a guy like that is a unique experience.
But he was much more than a movie star to us.
He was, again, a friend and a member of the family.
And he passed away this week at 76.
And this, you know, Keith, we've lost a few of our friends now.
I mean, Bill Rowland, obviously, was much more than that as a co-host of this show.
But Bill and Sonny and, you know, one day the day will come for us and we'll be reunited with them.
But until then, it stings and it hurts.
And I miss my friend tonight.
And we miss him.
He wants us to carry on, which we're doing, folks.
And we will, Sonny.
And we love you, brother.
God bless you.
God bless you, ladies and gentlemen.
We hope you enjoyed tonight's show.
We'll talk to you again soon.
