Time Text
You're listening to the Liberty News Radio Network, and this is the Political Cesspool.
The Political Cesspool, known across the South and worldwide as the South's foremost populist conservative radio program.
And here to guide you through the murky waters of the Political Cesspool is your host, James Edwards.
With a smile on my face and an extra beat in my heart, I come to you this evening, ladies and gentlemen, as the Political Cesspool now celebrates 11 years of broadcasting excellence.
Yes, indeed.
This is our annual anniversary show.
The Political Cesspool radio program first took to the airwaves on October 26, 2004, and the following 11 years have exceeded our wildest expectations.
This is a very special live broadcast tonight.
You're going to hear from absolutely everyone that plays a role in the show this evening in one single broadcast.
And we're going to be dishing out about our favorite guests, most memorable moments, biggest triumphs, and where we go from here.
And before we do that, and before we get started, you're going to hear from 10 different people tonight that make this show work.
And we're going to even give you the top 25 moments in political cesspool history.
Folks, this is going to be a fun show.
Nothing but smiles this evening, I can promise you.
But I want to read something that was written by Harry Seabrook.
And if it sounds a little self-indulgent, I apologize because he does mention the role that I've played in this show.
But I don't think I've ever read anything from anyone that so perfectly captures the essence of this program and what it is that we set out to accomplish each and every week.
So if you would, listen to the words of Harry Seabrook.
He wrote this last year, but it's certainly still applicable.
And this is what he had to say.
It was in the fall of 2004, shortly after James Edwards debuted the Political Cesspool show, that a friend of mine who was helping Reagan appointee Bob Whitaker promote his book, Why Johnny Can't Think, sent me a recording of Whitaker's first Political Cesspool appearance.
This was before internet streaming of the show and archives had been enabled.
I recorded it to a cassette tape so that I could listen to it while driving.
As I listened, I realized that I had never before heard anything like this on the radio.
I can still remember where I was and what I was doing.
It was one of those moments.
I knew I was listening to a very unique show, but if I'd been told at the time, in 2004, that the Political Cesspool would go on to build such a breathtaking list of accomplishments in guest interviews, I would have been surprised.
I would have been even more surprised to know that in 2014, it would be my privilege to be in Memphis to help James and his co-hosts and a ballroom full of friends and loyal supporters celebrate a decade of broadcasting and an illustrious career that has only just begun.
But the value of the show is deeper than merely charisma, information, and controversy.
It goes beyond independence from the sycophantic mainstream media.
James and his co-hosts have balanced issues of race, ethno-nationalism, history, politics, and culture with the Christian faith, which makes all the world come into focus.
There is no conservatism without order, no order without structure, and no structure unless flesh and spirit are viewed as complementary of the human soul.
Today, we hear too many preachers say that faith is all that matters.
We hear too many nationalists say that race is all that matters.
And the vast majority of young people today have been trained to believe that neither matter.
James is the vanguard of those who seek to restore balance, and in doing so, he is in lockstep with our noble forefathers who gave us all that we have as our inheritance.
The opportunity to make a difference in the world and the courage to see it through do not guarantee success, of course.
May we face our enemies as bravely as Confederate General Patrick Claiborne, who said, quote, if this cause that is dear to my heart is doomed to fail, I pray heaven may let me fail with it while my face is toward the enemy and my arm is battling for that which I know is right.
Amen.
May the next 10 years be better than the first.
The political cesspool has become a role model for all of the duties we seek to fill.
And most importantly, with James as a husband and father, you have become a hero because of your bravery and because, as Sam Dixon said, you are as persistent as the two snails who made it all the way to Noah's Ark.
God bless you.
Harry Seabrook, the former editor of the incredible website, Spirit, Water, Blood, Great Christian website.
Well, he was too kind in his praise of me, but I will share the praise that he gives to this radio program.
It all started on October 26th, 2004.
We're going to spend the entirety of this week's show reflecting on that incredible journey and looking ahead to future triumphs.
And of course, at the end of the day, thanks be to our audience for sharing the adventure with us and for making possible all that we do.
And I'm not going to spend a lot of time putting together the trail of how we started and how we got here.
Everybody knows that it all started for me because my parents were good enough to raise me as a Christian, as a proud Southerner.
They homeschooled me my last few years, which enabled me to get involved actively in politics.
I joined the Buchanan campaign, his last campaign for the presidency.
When I was 19 years old, I was the treasurer of the Buchanan campaign in the state of Tennessee.
And that was all because people that I worked with, people whose names won't mean anything to you, but they mean everything to me, people who've played a role and left an impression on my life, and it's changed me for the better.
J.D. Jones, Pete Peramsky, John Faye, people who were in charge of the Reform Party of Tennessee and the Buchanan campaign, who identified me as someone who could fill the role as the treasurer of a relatively major presidential campaign.
They gave me the confidence, and they instilled in me a belief that I was the leader.
And from there, of course, in 2002, at 21 years of age, I ran for state representative, got nearly 20% of the vote, and then the door to radio opened because of that campaign in 2004.
It was a broken trail, but it led us here.
And since that first night on the air, which I still vividly remember, I still remember what it felt like to go on the air for the first time in October of 2004.
I'll never forget that first show.
Everything I said was written on a piece of paper.
I was scared to death.
And wow.
Well, we'll be covering some of the things, some of the highlights.
How can you cover 11 years and three hours of commercial talk radio?
We're going to do our very best to hit some of the highlights.
And we're going to be asking people like Eddie the Bombardier Miller, Keith Alexander, Winston Smith, Sam Bushman, Scoop Stanton, and others who play a role in this show where they would like to see the show go from here.
What got them involved initially with our work?
What were their favorite moments?
Behind-the-scenes stuff, perhaps that you've never heard before.
We're going to cover it all because this is, in fact, our anniversary show.
It has been nearly 11 years.
This is the closest we can get to October 26th and still be on the air.
Of course, we only air once a week on Saturday, so we'll have to settle for October the 24th, 4th this evening, but our actual anniversary will be on Monday.
But nevertheless, this is the closest as we get, so this is the night we're going to celebrate it.
And when we celebrate everything the show has done and all of the people who have made it go, what we are really celebrating, ladies and gentlemen, as you well know, and I mean it from the bottom of my heart, we are celebrating you.
We're celebrating you.
And by you, I mean you, the individual who is listening to this show tonight, the person who has prayed for us, the person who has patted us on the back as we suffer attacks from our enemies, the person who has donated $25, $5, $100, the people who make this show possible.
This is a celebration of our audience this evening.
I am so proud.
It is the highlight of my life outside of my children and my wedding day to be able to be here with you every single Saturday night to be able to fight for you and to be able to fight for a cause greater than ourselves.
And we will continue that fight next week.
Tonight we celebrate.
Stay tuned, folks.
It's going to be a great show.
A lot of surprises in store for you right after this.
Has your dancing and romancing done gone away?
Are you moaning and a groaning from the stresses of the day?
Are you reeling and appealing because of headaches on the way?
Well, relax for just a moment.

Of what am I speaking, you ask?

The wisdom of the ages, the health care of the ancients, frankincense, myrrh, highsop, and hundreds of others too numerous to mention.
What could be more appealing?

Call us at 1-866-986-6397.
Well, how do you make it 11 years in Nationally Syndicated Talk Radio?
Well, the answer is one day at a time.
And I can remember that first day, and I can remember one of our very first guests and the man who came down to Memphis from Kentucky.
We started in October of 2004.
After we found out that we might have a hit on our hands, in December of 04, we put together an official kickoff party.
And the keynote speaker of that kickoff party was one of our very first guests, a man who has become a great friend of mine, action movie star.
You've seen him in Predator.
He really plays the most interesting character in that movie, which is saying a lot.
48 hours.
If there was a high testosterone flick in the 80s, Sonny Landam was most likely a star of that film.
And he's with us now.
And for 10 years, really 11 years now, he has been a very good friend of mine.
And he was down here, as I mentioned, for that very first kickoff party.
We talked about the 10-year anniversary celebration.
Now it's 11 years.
But for that very first one, Sonny was here, and he's been with us many times since.
And I've had some great memories with this guy.
I love him like a brother.
Sonny Landam, thank you for calling in and helping us celebrate number 11, my friend.
Hello, James.
Congratulations on the 11th year of the political cesspool.
Well, Sonny, you know, you were there since day one.
You laid the cornerstone.
Thank you for being part of the journey with us for all these years and for all these appearances.
In fact, when one of my correspondents calls in in a moment to recap the top 25 moments in our history, you were on there for your appearance on the show from the hospital bed.
Do you remember this particular broadcast we're talking about?
Yeah, I remember.
And God bless you.
Hey, I have a special guest that wants to say hello and congratulations.
Yes, sir.
Put him on.
Okay.
Hi, my name is Mo Landam.
Congratulations on the 11th anniversary.
Thank you.
Well, God bless you, Mo.
That is Sonny's son.
And Sonny, how old is your son?
How did you appreciate that one?
Well, hey, listen, that's going to be the highlight of the broadcast.
No doubt.
We can turn it off and go home, I think.
Mo Landam.
Mo Landham, that's my seven-year-old son.
Seven years old.
Well, God, hey, Sonny, God bless us.
God bless you, seven-year-old son, and raising him right.
I know you are.
Let me ask you this, Sonny.
I know you don't have a lot of time tonight.
You're busy with family activities, and I appreciate you carving out a little bit of time to come on this anniversary show.
We always like to have you on the anniversary shows.
What is it about our work that you've stuck with us for all these years?
What is it that you see in the show that keeps you tethered?
That you are spreading the word of the Constitution and what conservatism is all about.
Which it appears that our people in Washington don't have any idea what it's about.
But I know you didn't want to get into politics tonight.
So we'll just say congratulations and keep doing the good work.
Sonny, we're definitely going to try and we look forward to sharing more memories with you in the future.
I look back and some of the things you coming down here, the time we've spent behind the scenes, going to the casino together.
You'll remember that.
When we've had some great times together, I value your friendship.
I value you as a comrade in arms and as a brother in this battle to restore America's destiny, to reclaim America.
And you have a great evening with your son and enjoy the rest of your night and thank you for calling in and saying hello.
Had to get you on the record tonight.
And we'll talk to you again when you have a little more time.
And when we have a little more time, we'll have you on and we'll talk presidential politics.
I know we were talking about that on the phone a little bit a couple of days ago.
And you have a lot to say about that.
James, God bless you, and God bless your family.
And you have a great 11th anniversary.
And tell it like it is, which I know you always do.
Love you.
Certainly.
And good night.
Good night, Sonny.
We love you too, brother.
Sonny Landham, everybody.
Bye-bye.
The one and only.
You know, and Eddie Vomeder Miller's here in studio.
You know, Sonny, you talk about us being a hero.
We heard from Sonny's seven-year-old son tonight.
Sonny, and this is no secret, is 74 years old himself, 74-year-old with a seven-year-old son.
Now, that is what we needed a few more like that, I can tell you right now.
But Sonny really has been great.
He's been great to us.
We've had a lot of fun with Sonny.
And Sonny is just one of those larger-than-life characters, both in movies and in real life.
And if you've ever spent some time with him, I can remember going down to a casino.
I've shared this story before on the show.
I can remember going down to a casino in Tunica.
Sonny was down here, not for the kickoff party.
And he told me when I called him the other day, his son, they had a family event, and he wanted to call in and wanted to stay on as long as I needed him, but he could only call in for a couple of minutes and say hello.
And I said, that's fine.
We'll have you on a couple of weeks from now when we have a little more time to talk about the issues.
But he certainly wanted to be a part of this anniversary show because he was part of the first anniversary or the kickoff.
I guess our birthday, if you will, or shortly thereafter.
And he came back down to Memphis a couple of times.
He was down there one time to do an autograph signing.
He was signing covers of the movie Predator, and we did an appearance at some club together related to the radio show.
It was a radio show promotion.
And we taped three or four shows together in one day.
It was just an all-day experience.
But he's never, he's always gone the extra mile for us, as a lot of people have.
But I can remember this one story that I want to share, and then we'll move on.
We've got a lot of people to talk to tonight.
But we were down in Tunica.
He wanted to go see the casinos in Tunica.
We were down at Tunica.
It was a weekend night, so it was very busy.
This was back, oh, my goodness, 06, 07, pretty early on in our run.
And we got in there, and we were at the Gold Strike.
You know the Gold Strike, Eddie, and it's the nicest casino down there in Mississippi.
And they say they were just sold out.
I went up to the counter, sold out, no rooms.
I said, Sonny, we can't stay here.
You know, there's no rooms.
There's rooms.
You know, he's got that voice.
And he walked up to him, and he said, do you know who I am?
See, back when this show was two years old, I couldn't pull rank like that.
Maybe now I could.
And I will tell you this.
Sonny has taught me a lot.
Not that we try to play any certain roles, but he's taught me how to, I don't want to say act like a celebrity, but he, you know, he taught me, he spent some time talking with me early on about how I should carry myself in public.
And he had a lot of interesting insights being in Hollywood for a lot of years.
But he went up there and sure enough, all of a sudden we got a room and not just a room, some palatial suite and all expenses paid at the bar.
You know, we had some steak and we shot craps and just had a great time.
And he's just one of many people, many, many people who have left their fingerprints on the history of this show.
And you're going to be hearing from quite a few more this evening.
And we may even save the best for last tonight.
At the very tail end of the show, the last segment of the third hour, we are going to play the very last clip of commentary that Bill Rowland ever delivered on this show.
So not only will you hear from all of the active staff and crew and a few other familiar faces like Sonny, you're going to hear from Bill Rowland.
And it's one of the things that's so great about the infrastructure that Sam Bushman has built here with our broadcast archives and all the different ways you can catch the show.
Even if you're a new listener and we welcome new fans every week, you can go back and catch some of these pearls.
I don't want to compare myself to Robert E. Lee, but whatever Robert E. Lee felt when he lost Stonewall Jackson, I felt when losing Bill.
Except in that case, Bill was a man far greater than myself.
We're going to hear from Bill Rowland tonight, the last thing he ever said on this show.
And it still rings through today.
Much more to come when we come back.
The top 25 moments in political cesspool history.
According to Scoop Stanton, we're going to reel them off one by one from 25 to 1 before this hour ends.
Take a walk down memory lane with us, ladies and gentlemen.
11 years.
We're celebrating it tonight.
Happy birthday, TPC.
We'll be right back.

That's the sound of America's economic and political systems crashing to the ground.
But we have a plan.
We will be ready to restore political sanity.

You might have heard us laughing as we came in from that commercial break.
We're just having a good time tonight.
This is a fun, feel-good show.
Nothing's going to bring us down.
Nothing's going to stop us now, as Jefferson Starship might say.
And I got to give a big pat on the back to Scoop Stanton.
He is the Political Cesspool's resident historian.
He has totally outdone himself.
Ladies and gentlemen, I don't know how he did it, but he went through, I guess, every archive of every show, every blog post, and he has compiled.
I might switch the order up on a few of these, but it comes with my official endorsement, the definitive top 25 moments in political cesspool history.
Scoop, how did you do it?
Good evening, James, and the family.
I just sat there and thought of events and guests that had impact on the audience and or the hosting staff.
So, and believe me, we should have had a top 100 because a lot of people have just didn't make the top 25.
I mean, it was very, very hard.
It took me literally hours to do it.
Well, you know, everybody who listens to the show listens for different reasons, I guess, or to some extent.
And so when we go through this top 25 that Scoop has compiled after doing a lot of research into the history of the program, inevitably, you know, we have an unforgettable show, except for the fact that we've done so much over so many years that you just can't remember it all.
But we're going to try to give you a good sampling of some of the things, some of the highlights of the political cesspool.
We've got to cover 25 points in two segments.
So, Scoop, how do you want to play this?
Certainly, we're going to start at 25 and go down, but do you need me to read the headline or how do you want to do this?
Yeah, unfortunately, I don't have it with me.
I'm in between things with the family.
So, just start at 25 and head on up.
Number 25, according to Scoop, is our interview with Officer Drew Lackey.
It occurred on July 13th, 2008.
Scoop, why was that significant?
Because Mr. Lackey was the officer in the photo booking Rosa Parks.
The only radio show to have that guy on, and he gave another view of the civil rights movement, somebody who was there on the front lines as an officer in Alabama during the height of it all, and we had him on, and he told the truth.
Number 24, Glenn McConnell.
Glenn McConnell, he made history because he was on it for Confederate History Month.
He was a South Carolina State Senator.
And then once he became lieutenant governor of South Carolina, oh, you know what broke loose.
Glenn McConnell was a state senator in South Carolina when he appeared on the show in April of 2007 during our Confederate History Month series of that year.
He later became the lieutenant governor of South Carolina and now the president of the College of Charleston.
And at each turn in his career, the Political Assess Bull makes national news because, of course, they want to show what a bad guy Glenn McConnell was for coming on our broadcast.
But to his credit, he never denounced us.
Number 23, Sonny Landam, who we just heard from.
What particular Sonny Landham interview, Scoop, stands out in your mind?
We've had a lot of them.
Well, the one that stood out in my mind was the one he was given the interview from his hospital bet.
He was under some heavy medication, and it was one of the best car wrecks of an interview I've ever listened to.
My mouth literally dropped.
We probably violated some FCC guidelines in that particular interview.
Sonny Landham was doped up, and he was fighting the nurse.
The nurse wanted him to get off the phone so she could treat him.
He threw her out of the room and said the show must go on.
Hey, that's Sonny Landham.
Anybody that stands on a bridge and cuts himself with a buoy knife when the predator's coming after him, you know, a stand-up guy.
So the show must go on.
And we didn't know Sonny was in the hospital when we called him.
We had booked him and he went in.
It was kind of an emergency.
It was unplanned that he would be in the hospital, but he still gave the interview.
Now, that's a soldier.
Number 22, our coverage of Ferguson last year.
Why does it stand out, Scoop?
Well, we were one of the first people in Ferguson before the media unpacked their bags.
And also, we called it right down the middle.
We said Oscar Wilson was 100% in the right.
Professor Michael Brown was 100% wrong.
And he was a thug.
Number 21, this is one that would be higher on my list.
It was incredibly profound.
Our interview with former Luftwaffe pilot, Lieutenant Godfrey Dulias.
Right, with Lieutenant Dulias, we heard another side of World War II.
Because all we've been hearing from history is that, you know, Allied forces, good, Axis forces bad, 6 million Jews went to the ovens.
Well, guess what?
Lieutenant Dulias brought a more human side to the German Luftwaffe.
He talks about his time as a prisoner in the Russian POW camps, the grueling treatment he received there, two of the most incredible interviews we've ever conducted, and those are still available in our broadcast archives.
Number 20, we've got to start moving faster.
We actually had an interview with Sidney Leathers in 2013.
If people have forgotten who Sidney Leathers was, remind them, Scoop.
Sidney Leathers was the recipient of some illicit text from former Representative Anthony Charles Danger Wiener.
It was a great interview because we saw the path that Ms. Leathers headed down.
Also, it was also a great interview because Opi and Anthony wanted to book her, but she refused to go on their program.
And then she came on with us for what good it did us, but it did get us another shot of publicity.
Number 19, our promotion of Gods and Generals, which came with a call, rather a solicitation from Warner Brothers Movie Studios.
Remind them about that one, Scoop.
Right.
Well, Warner Brothers came out with this epic movie called Gods and the Generals with just an A-list cast, like Robert Duvall, Martin Sheen, Tom Berringer.
And then big old Warner Brothers pictures released Gods and Generals, American Sniper, among other movies, the Batman series, and came calling to the political cesspool to help promote the movie.
They may not like us, but they appreciate the size of our audience.
Warner Brothers wanted to work with PPC, and we worked with them in that particular endeavor to promote a great movie.
Number 18, the George Zimmerman trial.
We had extensive coverage of that.
But what was so particularly interesting about our coverage of that, in your mind, Scoop, at number 18?
Well, one thing, the verdict was read live on the air.
I happened to be at work, and people were getting text messages on the phones and whatnot.
So the suspend was able to read it live on the air.
And we had not one, but two attorneys, Keith Alexander and Sam Dixon, discussed on how Zimmerman was innocent.
Number 17.
Now, this is the guy you've become good friends with.
I don't know if he would quite make him my top 25, but our interview with Charlie LaDuff last year, he's a character, Charlie LaDuff.
Right.
I mean, Charlie LaDuff, he is exactly the same on air as he is off-air.
I mean, granted, his interview was a car wreck at times, but I went downtown with him for the hearing on immigration with the thousands of children.
He gave me a lesson in journalism that you cannot get in schools.
He showed how ill-equipped I was and how I needed to step up my game.
He has been a boon to the show.
You know, he stays in touch with Scoop.
He tries to help Scoop become a professional, like Sonny Landham tried to help me become a celebrity to each their own.
And, you know, he does good work.
His segments for Fox News Detroit are pretty incredible.
I'll cover the next two because we need to move some ground.
Number 16, our interview with Sheriff Paul Babue.
Eddie Miller had a hand in that.
This was the chief law enforcement officer, which with, as it turned out, a questionable personal background that threw us under the bus after the press added his appearance with us.
He invited Eddie to come down to Arizona for a ride-along.
And after we found out that he was a raging sodomite, perhaps the ride-along connotation took a different path.
But what's interesting about the Paul Babue thing, not only did his interview with us get national press coverage for the political cesspool, but we were denounced by John McCain and J.D. Hayworth, both Arizona politicians, as a result of his appearance with us.
And we enjoy having endorsements like that.
Number 15, Scoop includes me in this.
My appearance at the National Press Club, it was a very prestigious gathering and a very prestigious venue.
So, yes, I would certainly include, Scoop puts it at number 15, but somewhere in the pantheon of highlights of our 11 years on the air, my appearance at the National Press Club was quite nice.
Number 14, I'll toss this back to you, the incorporation of Sean Bergen into the Political Assess Bull staff, Scoop, Sean Bergen, and we'll hear from him later tonight at number 14 on your top 25 list.
Right.
Well, Sean worked for News 12 in the Metropolitan New York area.
He's been a reporter for 10 years.
He came out in July, talking about July of last year, talking about the murder of Officer Melvin Santiago, and he was subsequently fired.
And we had him on a couple other times, and the poor guy who was a Glenford Punishment agreed to come on the Political Assess Bull as the New York correspondent.
And again, just like LaDuff, he taught me I'm very ill-equipped to be a correspondent and or journalist and or reporter, and I need to step on the game.
And we're much better for it.
Sean Bergen is a pros pro, a class act, a great guy, somebody who cash paychecks from the establishment, but never became part of the establishment.
He always retained his independent flair and wouldn't compromise on the truth and on his principles.
And we'll hear from him later this evening.
When we come back in this final segment of this first hour, we're going to cover Scoop's top 13 moments in TPC history.
It only gets better.
Stay tuned.

We're covering a lot of ground in a very short amount of time.
Scoop's top 25 list, we're down to number 13.
We're only spending a few seconds on each one, but they're all in the archives.
They're all in our rich history.
And if you're a new listener, perhaps some of these things you're not familiar with.
If you're a longtime listener, one of the listeners from the very early years, this is stuff you've heard before, but need to remember again an incredible story we share with our audience.
And we're all in this together.
Number 13, the Hutton Gibson interviews.
Remind them about that one, Scoop.
Yes, the father of Mad Max Mel Gibson, Yep B. Mel Gibson, came by and talked about religion.
And it was an international phenomenon that Jimmy Kimmel actually did a skit featuring the Polygon Cessible and Hutton Gibson.
And Mr. Gibson pulled no punches.
That was the single biggest interview in terms of the amount of publicity it generated.
We were covered in the biggest newspapers on six different continents.
Jimmy Kimmel, as you mentioned on the Jimmy Kimmel Live show, did a skit that incorporated Bill Rowland and Hutton Gibson.
And Entertainment Tonight covered it as well.
Huge.
And Hutton Gibson never backed down.
He calls us his home away from home.
And every time I've talked to him in private, he's a big fan of the show.
Our interview with the crew of the USS Liberty in June of 2008.
Now, that was a big one.
Number 12 on your list, Scoop.
Yep.
I used to be a squid back in the day, and the Navy and basic training likes to cover Navy history, such as the first black that did this, the first black that did that, the first 13 blacks did this.
But they didn't quite mention the USS Liberty anthem.
And when I found out that Israel attacked deliberately a U.S. naval vessel, I was beside myself.
Boy, that crew did not let that boat sink.
So that tells you about how determined a good crew is and shows just how evil Israel is.
If you want to hear about the terrorist attack that Israel perpetrated on America and its sinking of the USS Liberty, we have three surviving crew members who have been guests on this show, and it's available in the broadcast archives tonight.
Number 11, I'll cover the next two, Scoop.
Number 11, our interview with United States Congressman Walter Jones, a Republican from North Carolina.
This made national news, a sitting member of the United States Congress visits the political cesspool, and he never backed down.
We had a great interview with him.
Eddie set it up, and he corresponded with a lot of fans of the show, even after the media outed his appearance, which out what?
That he's talking to great people.
I mean, I don't know what the story was.
Anyway, great interview, and the highest elected official that's ever been on the show.
Number 10, my string of appearances on CNN.
They're still available on our website.
If you go to the video tab, great history.
It really separated us from it really did a lot to add credibility and legitimacy to our work, the treatment that CNN gave yours truly.
And it was really a highlight of my career.
I enjoyed that.
I was slated.
I don't know if people remember this at the time, but I was actually put on as a regular correspondent on the Paulazahn show, which was the primetime show on CNN during that era.
And I made three appearances in about a month, and then she got canceled.
So I don't know if those two things are linked, but there went my television career for the most part.
But that was an interesting, very interesting time in the history of the show.
But I enjoyed that very much, and it certainly did a lot to make a name for the program.
David Duke, David Duke has been with us.
We've been interviewing David Duke since the inception of the show.
He's a friend of mine.
As everybody knows, he appeared earlier this year.
This is number nine on Scoop's list.
He appeared earlier this year during the Steve Scalise make-believe scandal.
But what puts him on the list that Scoop has compiled is that in 2008, I held a meeting with David Duke in cooperation with him in Memphis.
It drew several hundred people.
Over 500 people were scheduled to attend.
And the county in which this meeting was to be held declared a state of emergency.
Not because we were speaking there, but because the peace intolerance crowd threatened to blow up the hotel and murder the general manager if he didn't cancel the contract.
It became a huge media firestorm.
And we were still on with Republic broadcasting at the time.
The servers crashed.
So many people tuned in to hear that show.
It couldn't facilitate the crowd.
Number eight, I'll toss to you, Scoop, our interview in 2014 with Anthony Coomio.
You were a fan of Cumio.
We had him on, and the world's never been the same.
Right.
I always knew Coomia stands on restaurant issues, being a longtime listener of Cumio.
And this particular interview, in my opinion, was the best interview James Edwards ever conducted.
And it was the best interview Anthony Coomio was a part of.
And we blew up social media.
It was another incident that, not an incident, another interview, another feather in our cap that made international news.
And you can just do a quick Google search for political cesspool Anthony Coomiya to see the treatment that that one got.
I'll cover the next two very quickly.
I want to make sure we get all these in.
Number seven on Scoop's list of the top 25 moments in political cesspool history was the day we joined Liberty News Radio Network.
And surely that should be at number one.
But Scoop writes this: it's the best decision James ever made in radio.
Sam Bushman is special in so many ways.
Sean Bergen asked me once when talking to Sam, am I talking to a genius?
Well, the answer is yes.
Sam has done so much for this show.
He is loyal, tried, and true.
And we wouldn't be here without Sam Bushman today.
And everybody who appreciates the political cesspool ought to thank their lucky stars that we have a man like Sam in our corner.
Number six, according to Scoop, all of the interviews Pat Buchanan did on the show, yes, it's indeed my mentor.
Also a favorite of Scoop.
He refused to back down when confronted about the political cesspool and he lost his MSNBC job.
I still talk to Pat, great guy.
And well, if it wasn't for Pat Buchanan's role in my life, having worked for him in 2000 and that leading me to getting involved and engaged, you know, certainly I wouldn't have made it all the way to radio.
And I appreciate every time Pat has come on this show and every time he's come on the show.
Once again, you guessed it, international news.
Lots of headlines.
Number five, Scoop, the war on cops.
Why is that number five and why is that significant?
Well, first of all, we were the very first radio show to be broadcasted live when Officer Ramos and Lou were slaughtered by that savage from Baltimore.
Also, we were the first ones to coin the phrase war on cops, January 10th, 2015.
We were the first ones to say, hey, there is actually a war against law enforcement going on, and we will not back down.
And sure enough, every Johnny come lately, Fox Deuce, Sheriff David Clark, even Charlotte Duff mentioned about it.
But we were the first, and we were going to be the last because next week, boy, I got some news about that officer holder from PSA 5 from the New York City Police Department.
This has been a passion of Scoop's to dedicate time regularly to the war on cops, and we've made a name of ourselves.
And you never know how much influence the political cesspool really has on the big boys.
You know, certainly we have a coveted audience.
But I hear so much from Fox and Rush and some of these others that is almost word for word our commentaries.
You know, we'll never know for sure, and they'll never give us credit or admit it.
But I think we probably have influence far greater than anyone realizes.
Number four, I did an interview with the Washington Times as a result of this, but the Dylan Roof and the Confederate flag controversy.
We had three or four of our best shows in the history of our run earlier this summer when we defended the Confederate flag during the middle of all of this flap in Charleston.
But, Scoop, this is something that you noted.
And as a result of this, we were able to rally more than 500 people to Nathan Bedford Forest Park earlier this summer.
The organizers of that event were expecting the day before 125, maybe 150 people.
We got there, 500 people.
The political cesspool made the difference.
And that came under duress because, as Scoop mentions in his notes here that I'm reading from, we were harassed by the Department of Homeland Security for our role in promoting that particular event, but it turned out to be one of the greatest triumphs we've ever done.
And Eddie Miller made international news holding this huge Confederate flag.
He was front page news in a newspaper in Manila, the Philippines, and many other.
It went viral with the Associated Press.
Huge, huge news and one of our greatest victories.
We only have two minutes left.
I've got to cover these in about 10 seconds or less.
Number three, the Bill Rowland Tribute Show, right after Bill died and was called home by the Lord in February of 2012.
The very next show on March 3rd, 2013, it was all about Bill.
Three hours, the Bill Rowland Tribute Show.
Folks, remember a hero of our people.
Listen to that show in the broadcast archives.
It was certainly our hardest show, but most, in many ways, most important show because it's all about family at the end of it all.
Number two, in Scoop's top 25, the 10-year anniversary show, which occurred on October 18th of 2014.
That was, other than my two kids and getting married, that was probably the highlight of my life.
I'm serious.
That was probably the highlight of my life that weekend to have a sold-out ballroom of people coming from as far as Canada and Washington State and Vermont coming down to Memphis to celebrate our 10 years on the air.
And now it's been another year since then.
But that night was magical and it really does stand alone.
And number one on Scoop's list, earlier this year, Scoop, something happened that puts this particular event at number one.
Tell them what it was.
Number one in the top 25 moments in political accessible history, Scoop, it's to you.
Well, the Political Assess Pool was denounced by a congressional committee on Capitol Hill.
The only radio show that we know of, perhaps in history, to be denounced by the United States Congress on the official record.
And that is the thing out of all the memories and of all the accomplishments that we are most proud of.
It's important to have friends.
It's even more important to have the right enemies.
Scoop, thank you for putting in the work to compile that top 25 list.
When we come back, two more hours celebrating 11 years on the air.
We love you, Scoop.
We're going to hear from Eddie.
Scoop, we do love you, son.
Eddie's on deck when we come back.
Good night, Scoop.
