Welcome to the Political Cesspool, known worldwide as the South's foremost populous radio program.
And here to guide you through the murky waters of the Political Cesspool is your host, James Edwards.
All right, everybody, welcome back to the show.
The third and final hour already upon us tonight.
It has been a crazy, in a good way, show tonight in the Political Cesspool.
Of course, I'm James Edwards.
And, of course, I'm sitting here at the studios of AM 1380 WLRM Radio here in downtown Memphis, Tennessee.
Just went out to the lobby here at the station and stretched a little bit and feeling better about myself for having doing so.
Got a bottled water here as I broadcasted the AM FM affiliate stations of the Liberty News Radio Network and as I simulcast online around the world to our fans at thepolitical cesspool.org and libertynewsradio.com.
Sam Dixon was our guest for the first hour as we covered the shooting of the Congresswoman in Arizona.
Sam Dixon, always an intellectual heavyweight.
Don Wassel has been our guest for the entirety of the second hour as we looked at the political aspects of sports.
College football, pro-football, pro-basketball in particular.
And we've taken some calls.
We're going to try to take another call, maybe another call or two here this hour.
I guess I should ask if Don is still with us through that commercial break.
Don, are you still there?
Yeah, and I'm feeling better about myself too, James.
You must have taken a bathroom break.
Yes, I did.
Well, it's good to have you with us.
Are you having fun tonight?
Yeah, it's been enjoyable.
It always is.
It really is always fun here when you're with us, Don, and certainly Don Wassel, always a fan favorite.
We've been having a good time tonight talking about sports and taking calls for Don.
Among other things this evening, and Don, you had quite a few people lined up for you during the latter part of that second hour.
We're going to see if we can get another call or two before you leave tonight.
Just wanted to carry you over for a little extended play before we let you go.
I wanted to kind of bring the whole thing to summation.
Following up with a question I asked you at the very top of the second hour, nearly 60 minutes ago, let's talk very quickly, going back to the basics, about the caste system in general.
What is it?
Why does it exist?
It's part of the bigger picture, the big picture, where white Western Christian civilization is under assault on all fronts, and none are excluded.
There are some people out there that think sports is some kind of pure colorblind exception to the general rule that whites are discriminated against.
And unfortunately, that's not the case.
Everything's become political.
Everything's become racial in this society.
And white people need to open up their eyes and realize what's going on in the world of sports, too.
You know, I'm middle-aged, and a lot of the some of the poets, well, on caste football, we have quite a mix.
We have a lot of young guys, in fact, a few girls, but mostly young guys and some middle-aged guys, and especially the ones that are a little older.
We saw what happened.
I mean, I watched football as a kid in the late 60s and through the 70s and even into the 80s.
I mean, football, the NFL had been integrated for 25 years.
And whites, for the first 25 years of integration, there were still whites running the ball.
There were still whites catching the ball.
There were whites playing every position on defense.
And some of them went to the Hall of Fame.
They were so good.
And then at some point in the early to mid-80s, it's sort of like the day the dinosaurs were extinguished.
I mean, all of a sudden, white men couldn't run the ball.
Someday, you know, one sunny day in the middle of 1985, all of a sudden there was no white man in the country capable of running the ball in the NFL or catching the ball or playing defense.
And anyone that looked at it who hasn't been carefully trained by the media and gets all their cues and ideas and opinions from the media who can look at things objectively and independently, you can tell something was wrong.
And that's just a tip of the iceberg.
I mean, I could point out, I could give you every sport, give you examples like that.
I can give you all kinds of the ways the media has code for white athletes and code for black athletes.
And you can see it.
It's all-encompassing.
It's totalitarian in the sense that it's total.
Just like all the other propaganda, the anti-white propaganda that goes on.
It's 24-7.
There's no deviation.
And so we just study the way the assault on white men and women, but mostly white men, when it comes to sports, we study it, pick it apart, and prove that it's going on.
And we root for white athletes, and we're trying to encourage young whites not to believe this and believe in themselves and to educate themselves and educate their families and friends.
And that's how we're going to break down the caste system.
There are other ways it's breaking down.
Black dysfunction, as I mentioned earlier, a smaller pool of black athletes to profit up.
But the best way is for more whites to understand what's going on at the grassroots level, at the level that affects them most, white athletes and those that believe in them.
And when they can see this, then they'll start speaking up more.
They'll start believing in themselves more.
And it's a cumulative effect.
And what we try to do is get people to see it.
And we truly believe in the last two, three years, we've made significant progress in making not just the few of us, the relatively few of us that posted cast football aware of it, but lots of people.
We've seen a difference in the way the media treats white athletes.
I mean, there's still a long way to go, but there are some.
It's not as bad as it used to be.
You will see now in articles all over the internet, whereas before white athletes could be denigrated and nobody would say a thing.
Nobody would stick up for them.
He could make the most ridiculous negative stereotypes about them possible and just nobody would say anything.
But now, almost every time it happens, there will be at least one writer, oftentimes multiple writers, sometimes a majority.
They will get on there and they will expose the truth.
They'll expose the bigotry and then get the truth out there.
So we are seeing that, unlike the society at large where it seems like it's always negative things, we're actually, we believe, making a difference slowly but surely.
And it's very heartening.
Don, I want to ask you one more question, and then we're going to go back to the phones.
And when the phone calls run out tonight, we're going to let Don go.
So let me put it to you this way.
We're going to keep Don Wassell as long as phone calls come in for Don Wassle.
And they've been coming in pretty heavily tonight.
In fact, we've had to, I know, turn a few people away because the lines were jammed up, but the lines are open now.
1-866-986-News.
I'm going to ask one question for Don.
We're going to take a commercial break, and then we're going to take your calls for Don as long as they last.
So it's up to you.
How much longer does Don last?
He's already lasted longer than any guest we've had over the course of the past two years in breaking the hour mark.
We're wearing him out tonight, but we're having a good time doing it.
1-866-986-News, last call for questions for Don Wassel.
Don, you're talking about the caste system, and you gave such an eloquent response as to what it is, why it exists, so on and so forth.
It really transcends the playing fields and the playing courts now.
When I tune into ESPN, I get my sports news from a black man and a Jewish woman.
It's certainly manifested itself in coaching and announcing as well.
There's no question, James.
I can't think of the name of the movie.
It was John Travolta was in it about 15 years ago, and it was supposed to be a comedy where things had flipped, where the whites were an actual minority in this country.
He was an oppressed minority, and all the people in power around him and on TV were black.
Well, if you watch sports television, I mean, that's basically the situation we have now.
The NFL network is about 80% black on-air announcers with a smattering of white men and blonde females.
ESPN, as you said, it's disproportionately black.
And the thing that's amazing, too, is this is not just for football and basketball.
You can turn on a Hawk.
The Hawk NHL has a network now, though.
I've turned that on at times, and the three guys sitting in the studio, two of them are black for the NHL, which is 99% white.
You can turn on the golf channel, same thing.
You will find several black studio announcers, et cetera, on the golf channel.
And Tiger Woods is the only semi-black professional golfer in the top 1,000 golfers in the world.
And it is being expanded to all fields.
It's going from the.
Don, buddy, hang on.
We've got to take a break, and then we're going to take some calls for you.
Sit tight.
Now that heartbreak is right here.
When the truth is found to be...
Welcome back.
To get on the Political Cess Pull, call us on James's Dime, toll-free, at 1-866-986-6397.
And here's the host of the Political Cess Pool, James Edwards.
All right, welcome back to the show, everybody.
Last segment with Don Wassall.
He's been our guest for not just the second hour, but for half of the third as well.
And by popular demand, I might add.
Going to take a couple of last remaining calls for Don, and then we're going to let him go.
Don, thanks again, by the way, for staying with us for so long.
Yeah, it's always enjoyable.
The time goes by so fast, James.
It does.
Does it seem like it's been an hour and a half?
You know, you know how I measure time?
It's if I could drive to Nashville or not.
And I could drive to Nashville from Memphis in about two and a half hours.
So we'd be halfway there right now.
Let's go to Daniel in Louisiana.
Question for Don Wassall.
Daniel, you're on the air.
Yes, Don, you talked earlier about the best white college backs going to teams that already have star back.
Who exactly is behind this?
I've been wondering, because it's just too many to be a coincidence.
Wait, I'm sorry, I didn't catch your question.
Can you repeat it?
You mentioned earlier about how the best white backs in college wind up on teams that already have star established back.
Who exactly is behind this?
Because it's just too many to be a coincidence with Brian Leonard, Jacob Hanther, and Gerhardt.
Who was coordinating these moves?
Exactly.
I don't think it's a grand sort of a chessboard where a lot of different teams or even at a higher level are coordinating something like that.
I think, well, first of all, these running backs were all drafted lower than they should have been.
Jacob Hester was drafted.
The Chargers took him.
They had LaDanian Tomlinson was still at his peak.
He was the best running back.
But it wasn't clear what they took him for.
Maybe as a hybrid, a so-called fullback, tailback.
But it was hard to have a good feeling about that at all, that they would even use him as a backup running back.
And as it turns out, they didn't.
They beefed him up and they turned him into a blocking fullback.
And this was a guy who was the featured runner on LSU the year they won the national championship.
This was the extremely rare case of a white man being able to be the main running back for an SEC team, an SEC team that won the national championship.
And yet he's been turned into a blocking fullback in the NFL.
Brian Leonard was another one.
He was widely called, he was a great running back at Rutgers.
Unfortunately, his senior year, he willingly converted to fullback so that Ray Rice could be the main running back.
So he kind of tight cast himself.
That's another typical white quality among athletes.
They'll do anything for the team.
Whereas blacks are often thinking, ahead, well, I'm going to be a pro.
I'm going to make a lot of money.
I'm going to look out for me.
And there's nothing wrong with being devoted to your college, but white athletes need to think more about themselves, too.
And Brian, really, I mean, Jacob has not spoken up for himself.
Brian, as best I know, has not spoken up for himself.
And he has been used as a fullback and occasionally as a tailback, a third down back kind of situation.
Gerhardt, you know, we speculated who would take him.
I mean, the Houston Texans definitely should have.
They needed a running back.
San Diego, again, they needed a running back, but he was taken by the Vikings.
The only thing is, it's just like with Peyton Hills, I think we just have to be patient, and some of these guys will get an opportunity because so many blacks, especially black running backs, get injured.
And Toby, hopefully, will get a chance to shine.
That's all we can hope for.
Hey, thanks so much for the call, Daniel.
I really appreciate it.
And all the calls that have come in tonight for Don Wassel.
It's been a great show with both Don and Sam Dixon being featured this evening.
The last caller for Don tonight comes from right here in Memphis, and one of our very own co-hosts who is tuned in this evening from home.
He has the night off from his hosting duties, but still tuned in attentively.
It is Eddie the Bombardier Miller.
Bombardier Eddie, what's your question for our guest tonight, buddy?
Well, first of all, I'd like to welcome Don on the Political Sess Pool.
And I'd like to point out a few little facts here.
Don, we have a team here in Memphis called Christian Brothers High School.
They have an illustrious career here.
And every year, Christian Brothers High School plays the elite team in Memphis and Shelby County called Melrose, the elite black team.
And year in, year out, the white team, Christian Brothers High School, goes in there and they clean the clocks of the Melrose Golden Wildcats.
But normally, though, year in, year out, Melrose will always be rated higher than Christian Brothers High School.
And also, last year, we have a team here in Memphis called Memphis University School, and we have a co-host on our staff by the name of Keith Alexander.
All of his children have gone through MUS.
And they went down there, an all-white high school in Memphis, went down to the number one high school in the nation, South Panola, which is located in Mississippi.
And they went down there and beat South Panola on their home field the first time South Panola had lost a game on their home field in, I think, like 12 years.
And this year, once again, South Panola was rated the number one high school in the nation.
And, you know, and we never heard, we didn't even hear a ripple in the news about that.
Now, you know, if we'd been an all-black team, you know, trouncing your little skinny-legged white team like Bear Bryant used to call him, skinny-legged little white boys, we'd have heard an end of the news.
But I thought that was an interesting thing to bring into the show tonight, Don.
Thanks, Eddie.
Eddie, thanks for the call, buddy.
Yeah, Don, we haven't covered high school sports yet.
Is this something that is pretty typical, or is what's happened here in the Memphis area an exception to the rule?
That's very typical, just as I mentioned earlier about how in a majority of the states, the leading high school running back last year was white.
And this is anyone that doubts what cast football was saying or some of the things I said tonight, do your own research.
The fact is that in most cases, an all-white or a predominantly white team will beat an all-black or a predominantly black high school team, especially in high school football.
I know it happens in basketball as well.
I don't know if it happens as often as it does in football, but it certainly does happen.
It's not rare.
So what we've got is we've got white kids in high school excelling in basketball and in football and on teams that beat mostly black teams, and yet they're not allowed the opportunity to continue in college and play as the black kids often are.
So this is the crux of it.
You know, this is the cast system.
And a lot of people just, you know, they don't think outside the box.
And this is a problem with Americans in general, where too many just accept what they're told or what they read.
So, this is what we're trying to point out.
And, yeah, Eddie, you're absolutely right.
It's not rare.
It happens a lot.
That's the short answer.
Well, Don, listen, again, I can't thank you enough for staying on with us for a little extended play this evening.
You've been with us for an hour and a half.
You ready for a breather?
You ready to go tag out here?
Well, I'll probably, if you're going to kick me out, I'm going to go watch the game, but I'll be waiting to be on next time, James.
Hey, hey, never kicking you out, letting you go to take a well-deserved rest.
You've done a great job tonight.
Always do a great job.
Remember, folks, to check out Don at castfootball.us.
And if you haven't yet done so, as Don mentioned, we play the ads for it.
Subscribe to the Nationalist Times.
It's one of the premier newspapers of the right.
And Don, how can they do that?
Well, they can go to ANU.org.
That's a pretty short URL.
And they can subscribe online there.
Or they can write if I have time to give the address out.
Sure, absolutely.
Okay, they can send, well, we're about to end up with the - they can get a one-year subscription for $19 still for a little bit longer, which is less than half the regular price.
Send $19, money, order, check, or cash to the Nationalist Times.
And that's 10161, 10161, Park, Run, Drive, Suite 150.
And that's in beautiful Las Vegas, Nevada.
Also, very economically strapped, Las Vegas, 89145.
And if you like what I have to say about sports and some of the things I said tonight, you'll probably like my views on politics too.
So if you are into politics, you can subscribe to the Nationalist Times.
Well, there you go, ladies and gentlemen.
ANU.org to subscribe to the Nationalist Times and for further commentary, always updating and ever-evolving commentary on sports.
Check him out at castfootball.us.
Don, for the last hour and a half, it's been my pleasure.
That's been my pleasure, James.
Thanks a lot.
I look forward to the next time.
And there will be a next time very, very soon.
Don Wassel, everybody here, our featured guest tonight on the Political Cess Pool, Sam Dixon and Don Wassel, back to back.
David Duke was on last week.
Next week, we are scheduled.
And of course, the schedule is always subject to change, but we are scheduled to have Paul Craig Roberts, former Assistant Secretary of the Treasury, Bill Johnson, and more.
Big month in January.
We're going to take a break.
We'll be right back.
Don't go away.
The Political Cesspool, guys.
We'll be back right after these messages.
Go, go!
They don't cry.
To get on the show and express your opinion in the Political Cesspool, call us toll-free at 1-866-986-6397.
All right, welcome back to the show, everyone.
As I said, right before that last commercial break, it's been a very active and festive show this evening with two great guests, Sam Dixon and Don Wassel on the Heels of David Duke last week.
We've got some great guests forthcoming for the entire month of January.
Paul Craig Roberts, Bill Johnson, Mark Weber, Gordon Baum, Ted Pike, Kevin McDonald, Jared Taylor, Craig Bodaker, and more.
That's all forthcoming before the calendar even flips to February, exclusively right here on the Political Cess Pool Radio Program.
Now we have another edition that's being added to tonight's program since it has been so fluid this evening.
And it's a young lady that's done quite a bit of work for our movement over the years, Janelle from Indianapolis.
And she's probably most well known for working with the famed author David Irving, but she has also launched in recent weeks a brand new website that I want to bring to your attention.
Lighthouse Literature.
And you can find it online at lighthouse literature.com.
Janelle has joined us in the online chat room at cfcc.org.
Janelle, welcome to the program.
Thank you.
Well, it's great to have you tonight.
And, of course, I was excited to find out, I guess it was the early part of December, that you would be carrying my book at your website.
What's the purpose of Lighthouse Literature?
Well, this is something I started with Matt Parrott over at Hoosier Nation, our local activism group here in Indiana.
And we were looking for a way that we can have some kind of funding for the movement that doesn't rely just on donations.
And it started out as a very small idea, but we've turned it into something that we think can actually help a lot of other activism groups out there, specifically pro-white websites.
So that's it in a nutshell.
Well, I'm at it right now.
I want to give out the URL one more time, lighthouse literature.com.
What kind of books are you carrying there?
You've got several different categories from cultural, fiction, historical, lifestyle, philosophical, political, and scientific.
So it seems as though whatever your persuasion is, you have something for vast and varied interests.
Right.
I want to be able to carry books for every kind of white nationalist, not just the armchair politician, but even the housewife or teenagers.
So we've got about 30 titles and counting now.
I've got new ones coming in every couple of weeks here.
And right now we've got a lot of political books and historical books, and we're building up the other categories as quickly as we can.
We do have your book, and if anybody wants to buy it, they're welcome to visit Lighthouse Literature and do so.
Well, listen, folks, it comes with my heartiest endorsement for you to visit this website.
I know what it's like to be a young person at this movement.
I'm not as young as I once was when I started this thing, but not long in the tooth either at 30 years old.
So it's very hard to get your feet wet and be able to carve a niche for yourself.
And as I said, Janelle is doing great work.
She's got a great website, and there's always an occasion.
I know we just passed Christmas, but if you've got a little bit of that Christmas money you received, there's always birthdays, Valentine's Days coming up.
You can just give a gift for any occasion.
It doesn't even have to be an occasion.
Just give the gift of knowledge to one of your friends, and you will find quite a bit of knowledge featured at lighthouse literature.com.
As we just mentioned, books of a lot of variety there on the website for you.
So if you want to help out someone who's fighting to help you, I encourage you to make your next book purchase, your next gift purchase at lighthouse literature.com.
And this really isn't an infomercial.
This is something I wanted to do that I felt compelled to do.
And like I said, tonight has been a show that's been very fluid and fast-moving.
And we've rearranged some guests and some segments.
And we had a couple of free minutes here at the tail end of the show.
So I called Janelle during that last commercial break.
She had no idea she was going to be on, but she's a real trooper and she's called in, and we're grateful to have her tonight.
And I guess we're lucky that you were available on a Saturday evening on a moment's notice.
Well, so lighthouse literature.com, everybody, support Janelle and buy a book.
You'll be glad you did, and I'm sure she'll appreciate it too, right?
Support the whole movement because that's what it's for.
It's something that we want people to buy books and note that they can find books that they agree with and they're putting their money back into the movement so that we can continue to fund activities and rights issues for our people.
All right, folks.
You heard it.
Very well spoken, very well said.
If you don't visit lighthouseliterature.com, you're going to have to hear from me.
Hey, Janelle, thanks for coming on on such short notice and plugging your website tonight.
That's what we're here for, is to get the word out about good people doing good work, and your website's one of them.
Well, thank you very much.
I appreciate it.
My pleasure.
Janelle Antis, everybody.
Check her out at lighthouse literature.com, and thanks for calling in on short notice.
Well, like I said, folks, it's been a very busy show tonight, and we're so glad you could be here with us.
I'm going to open up the phones now for just a general open mic.
We don't have very much time left.
I've got a lot of stories I could bring to your attention.
But if you want to call and talk with me here for the last segment or so, I'm all ears.
I'm trying to talk in the chat room, type in the chat room, and host a show at the same time.
No co-hosts, no co-hosts here with me tonight in the studio.
And now that we're out of guests, we're going to go and cover some of the stories that we've been providing comments on on the blog.
It's been a very busy week on the blog as well at deeppolitical sessions.org.
I want to make mention of this, and this is something I noticed that we posted on the blog as well.
I had an opportunity over the weekend to come together with other members of the American Third Position Board of Directors.
I guess before I go further, I should say that, my God, I serve on a lot of board of directors now that I think about it.
Sam Dixon and Don Wassel, who were both featured guests this evening, are members of the Council of Conservative Citizens.
Of course, I am as well, and we're participating in the CFCC chat now for the indefinite future during each live broadcast.
Don Wassell and I also serve on the board of directors of the American Third Position.
And as I was just saying, had an opportunity over the weekend to come together with the other members of the A3P to tape an audio address marking the party's one-year anniversary.
The American Third Position Board of Directors is comprised of myself and Don Wassall, as well as Dr. Tom Sunit, Dr. Kevin McDonald, and William Johnson.
We gave a state of the A3P 2011 radio address.
We taped it earlier this week to celebrate the occasion of the party's one-year anniversary.
We briefed listeners on the accomplishments of the A3P during its first year and the goals of the party for the year to come, as well as discussing the issues of most urgent concern to the American people.
Kevin McDonald talked about the challenges that may be faced by individuals who identify themselves as pro-white.
He said, and I quote, it's very heartening that we have so many people joining up considering the reprisals they may face by publicly identifying themselves.
He continued by noting that anti-white organizations are there to pounce on anyone who comes out as pro-white because they know the stigma, the double standard that exists against white solidarity is something that props up the current multicultural way of doing things.
And they're terrified that there would be a powerful group of people who are well-educated and well-informed that actually take a position where being white is okay and not something to be ashamed of, where we have rights and interests that we should be pursuing just like everyone else does.
The entire audio address may be heard by going to my website, thepolitical cesspool.org.
Thepolitical Cesspool.org.
Click on the blog entry entitled Directors of the American Third Position, tape audio address, and you can listen to it for yourself.
I think it's about 15-20 minutes long.
We're going to try to play on the air the broadcast of this recording in its entirety next week on the Political Cesspool radio program.
Again, as I said, it features a lot of household names here in TPC circles.
Don Wasley, you just heard from Tom Sunik, always a great guest.
Dr. Kevin McDonald, who was on our show a couple of weeks ago and will be appearing again two weeks from tonight.
And Bill Johnson, who will be on the show next week.
So we're keeping it all in the family and we encourage you to check that out.
Check out, I've plugged it a couple of times already, but check out the Political Cesspool guest list for January.
Absolutely outstanding.
And while you're on the website listening to that address, checking out the schedule, don't forget that we are a listener-supported radio program, ladies and gentlemen.
We exist like PBS off your support, off the contributions of the listening audience.
If you like this show and you appreciate the great guests that we make available to you, consider making a donation tonight online, safely and securely, at thepolitical cesspool.org.
We've got to take a break.
One last segment coming up right after this.
Don't go away.
The political cesspool, guys.
We'll be back right after these messages.
We'll return.
Jump in the political cesspool with James and the gang.
Call us tonight at 1-866-986-6397.
And here's the host of the Political Cesspool, James Edwards.
All right, welcome back to Believe It or Not the Final Segment of the program tonight.
It goes by way too fast.
Got a couple of stories on the blog that I want to bring to your attention.
And then I guess I'll let you go till next week.
Did you see the blog entry I posted about the boy princess?
I mean, this is where all this gay rights garbage is heading.
And it can all be traced back to Martin Luther King and the so-called civil rights movement.
I mean, you can't say it was okay for that trumping of the Constitution to have occurred without saying that it's either all right or it's all wrong.
And, you know, King was the one who preached that people shouldn't be judged by their physical characteristics, which is, according to today's popular vernacular, hate.
They should only be judged on their character.
And everyone in the world must be judged as an individual and not as a member of a group.
And now virtually everyone claims to agree with King.
Well, if that's the case, then how in the world is it okay to say that quote-unquote men should be allowed to marry women and vice versa?
And for that matter, as these parents and many more are coming to understand, how can we tell little boys that they shouldn't wear dresses because those are girls' clothes?
It's all interchangeable, you see, according to political correctness.
Well, you've got to check out this very disgusting story on The Boy Princess.
And this is about apparently a mixed-race child, product of a black father and a white mother.
And basically, he's, I don't know, five or six years old, something like that, and he wears girls' clothes and pink dresses, you know, when he goes out to play and this, that, and the other.
And the parents encourage it.
They said, that's who he is, and it's okay.
And, you know, no harm, no foul.
That's normal.
You know, it's just as disgusting as seeing Doogie Hauser with his, you know, boyfriend or whatever it is and they being called a family now because they've been allowed to adopt.
It should be criminal for them to be allowed to adopt.
Well, if not criminal, they should at least not be able to adopt kids and force that perverse and unnatural thinking on them.
But anyway, The Boy Princess, this is just one of any number of examples that falls into this discussion.
But it's one of the most, this disgusting discussion, but it's one of the most in-your-face and obnoxious stories that's yet to come to pass.
So check it out.
The boy princess at thepoliticalsuccessible.org.
Now, this is a story I wanted to bring up tonight.
I should have brought it up when Don Wassa was on.
God knows he was on long enough, an hour and a half.
He was on for half the show.
We didn't really get into as much coverage as we gave sports.
We didn't really get into the correlation between these professional athletes and violence and crime.
Well, a couple of the Memphis Grizzly basketball players made Memphis proud this week.
It goes without saying that a huge percentage of professional athletes would be in prison if they weren't in the NBA or in the NFL.
Some manage to restrain their violent impulses in order to keep their multi-million dollar incomes.
A lot of others don't, but they get kid gloved treatment simply because they're professional athletes like Pac-Man Jones and Michael Vick.
If Michael Vick had been a white person, there is no way he would have ever thrown another football in the National Football League.
You can bet your bottom dollar on that.
But in many cases, the public relations guys who work for the athlete, the team, and the league managed to hush a lot of this stuff up by paying off victims, threatening them with character assassination and public humiliation, or doing whatever it takes to keep it out of the paper.
This isn't any big secret.
There are at least two books out there about this stuff, the violence and crime that surrounds today's pro-athlete culture, if you will.
One of the books is Pros and Cons, The Criminals Who Play in the NFL and Out of Bounds, Inside the NBA's Culture of Rape, Violence, and Crime.
Both books are well researched and heavily documented.
And the author says that when the leagues found out he was writing the books, the big shots who run the leagues tried to discourage him from doing so.
When he didn't back down, they told him they would denounce his books as fill in the blank.
Come on, folks.
Start with an R, racist, because the criminals he wrote about were overwhelmingly black.
Big surprise there, huh?
Well, the violence continues here in Memphis as if we needed more of it.
But at least this time, these thugs are attacking their own teammates instead of innocent members of the public.
But hey, at least they didn't pull guns on each other as Gilbert Arenas of the Washington Wizards did last year on one of his teammates.
And at least they didn't punch any of the fans as they did in Detroit during a game between the Pistons and Pacers a few years ago.
CBSSports.com's Gary Parrish reports that O.J. Mayo and Tony Allen, two players for the Grizzlies, had a physical altercation on the team flight home following a win over the L.A. Lakers on Sunday.
The fight left Mayo with a quote-unquote swollen face.
Mayo was ruled out of Tuesday's win over the Oklahoma City Thunder with what the team called bronchitis, quote-unquote.
Now, I wasn't aware that bronchitis can be brought upon from repeated punching to the face, but apparently that happened.
Allen started in place of Mayo Tuesday against Oklahoma City, and maybe played the best game of his season, scoring 19 points.
But Parrish also reports that the altercation came.
Here's where it gets interesting.
Here's where the plot thickens.
This reporter for CBS reports that the altercation between these two black Memphis Grizzly basketball players came after a card game gone wrong.
Now, one of the players reportedly became increasingly belligerent against the other when asked to settle a debt.
The player who owed the money walked away, went to the restroom on the plane, and returned to find that the other player who was owed the money, apparently, was still berating him.
Now, that's when it got physical, according to the report.
Now, I know what you're thinking.
At least they didn't pull guns out on each other, like what happened, as I mentioned, after another card game gone bad in Washington, D.C. last season.
But still, how can this happen?
Following the Gilbert Arenas Javaris Crittenden incident from last season, a lot of teams banned gambling on the team flights.
Evidently, the Memphis Grizzlies did not.
In the Arenas Crittenden case, Crittenden reportedly won $25,000 on a card game, the same card game that these two players from Memphis were fighting over, and said he was going to shoot Arenas in his surgically repaired knee as the two argued over the debt.
Instead of getting all punchy, Arenas himself brought a gun into the locker room the next practice.
The all-time winningest coach in NBA history, Don Nelson, said after the Arenas incident that maybe gambling should be a league-wide banned.
He said it's not a bad thing to allow gambling, money on the table, card games.
But maybe the league ought to think about doing something like that.
It probably would be a good thing to have it banned.
Another case happened in 2000 with the Raptors.
And this is another thing.
This is something that happens all the time.
It isn't just a random occurrence.
I mean, how many times have you seen this occur in the NHL, which is, you know, an all-white sports league?
How many times have you seen players bring guns and threaten each other and beat each other up over cards?
I mean, this is the, you know, this isn't part of that culture.
It is part of the culture in the NBA.
And you can compare and contrast what the difference is in.
Another case, and I could give you any number of examples right now, happened in 2000 with the Toronto Raptors.
Before an exhibition game, Charles Oakley looked to collect a debt from Philadelphia's Tyrone Hill.
Oakley slapped Hill on the side of the head and was fined and suspended for a game later that season for chucking a ball at Hill's head during a separate incident.
In 2001, Hill finally paid his debt, $54,000 that he owed him from a dice game.
In 1999, Jerry Stackhouse allegedly punched Christian Leitner, believing Leitner had cheated him out of $2,000 in another card game.
Course, I was in the, it still am actually, in the CFCC chat room, and someone was bringing up earlier Latrelle Spreewell, the player for the Golden State Warriors who had choked his coach, PJ Carlissimo.
I mean, this is just the stuff.
All-Star weekend is always a time.
Anytime the NBA All-Star Weekend players get together, always crime running wild, just craziness.
They can't help it.
They can't.
It's just who they are.
Anyway, we don't cover sports a lot on the Political Cess Pool.
As I said, I feel a little bit more like Dan Patrick tonight rather than James Edwards, although, of course, Dan Patrick's never going to cover sports from the angle we cover it, that's for sure.
But nevertheless, it's been a fun time tonight.
We don't cover sports a lot here on TPC, and when we do, we like to cover it extensively.
And I think we've done it tonight for the better part of an hour and a half.
I want to thank all of our guests tonight, Janelle Antis, Don Wassel, Sam Dixon, Bill Rowland for covering bringing some facts to the table during the first hour.
Keith Alexander, Winston Smith, and Eddie DeBometer-Miller had the night off, but I didn't.
I never do.
And I'll be back with you next week as we bring more great guests to you here exclusively on the award-winning Political Cess Pool Radio Program.
Remember to live life the way we do, ladies and gentlemen, without retreat, surrender, or apology.
On behalf of the entire staff and crew of my radio program, I am James Edwards.
Good night.
We'll see you next week.
