Mainstream News Caught LYING About Trump and Fox News

News outlets are reporting that Fox news reporters have quit over "Trump" support and the direction of the network. However upon some digging you can easily see this is a lie. One reporter quit because he felt the network was doing too much opinion and there wasn't enough funding for real journalism and another simply quit to spend time with his family. The mainstream news reporting this have been caught lying but the question is why are they lying? Probably because they want partisan fuel, they want to smear Fox news and Trump as not being real news. Unfortunately for them, Fox News is the number one cable network right now.  Support the show (http://timcast.com/donate) Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

No matter what your political opinion actually is, the media is going to assign your opinion for you.
And this has been something we've seen constantly in the culture war.
There are people who can outright denounce racism.
They can outright deny that they have anything to do with certain political groups, yet for some reason news outlets will say they are, and then it trickles over to Wikipedia where people are called alt-right and fascist and things of that nature, simply because journalists Either are lying on purpose or they're just really bad at their jobs.
Now typically I err on the side of they're probably bad at their jobs.
But it's also entirely possible and does happen frequently that some of these people are in fact lying.
Today we have a story about some Fox News reporters who quit Fox News after a very long period of time.
Both of which are being weaponized politically in the culture war.
They're claiming that these Fox News journalists are leaving the network because, say, Donald Trump has ruined the network, or that they're skewing things in favor of Trump.
But it would seem that, unsurprisingly, that's not true.
And one case, one of the journalists, they're actually lying outright about why this person left Fox News.
There are reporters who at Fox News are probably unhappy, and a lot of them are probably happy.
But they're trying to make it seem like the reason people are leaving is because they don't like Trump.
And I wonder why that is.
So today, let's take a look at just how the media is trying to force fake opinions onto people who are trying their hardest to deny The reason as to why they left Fox News has anything to do with politics.
And we're going to start with some mainstream news stories and hyper-partisan stories.
From Newsweek, which is typically far left, Fox News reporters leave saying Donald Trump has skewed the network.
Well, unsurprisingly, this is not true.
This headline, I believe, is fake news.
And we'll get into the story.
We'll get into more as to why.
But first, Two Fox News reporters have left the network over the past three weeks, citing frustrations with the network's direction as the reasons behind their departure.
Los Angeles-based journalist Adam Housley, who has been part of the Fox News network since 2001, will be leaving the cable news giant soon.
According to two former employees, Housley claims that he has been having less opportunities for non-opinion television personalities, according to Politico.
He's not doing the type of journalism he wants to be doing, another former Fox News employee said about Housley, and he is unhappy with the tone of the conversation of the channel.
Housley declined to speak to Politico but shared the same sentiment released by Fox following the announcement of his departure.
I could not be more proud of the journalism I did at the network.
From war zones to tsunamis to watching miners pull from the ground in Chile, I am grateful for the extraordinary opportunities to have a front seat to history and cover news all over the world, the statement reads.
A huge thank you to many Fox employees, especially behind the scenes, who have supported me every step of the way.
We are friends for life.
In a tweet on Friday, Housley bashed the politicization of his departure, writing that maybe one day, one day we can find common ground rather than just call names.
Let's go back to the headline.
Fox News reporters leave saying Donald Trump has skewed the network.
Nowhere in this story does it say anything about Donald Trump at all.
And then, of course, we have Alternet, which is far left.
Another Fox News reporter quits over network's pro-Trump tone.
People are losing their minds.
Adam Housley just announced he was leaving Fox.
Next we have Politico.
And this is the more fair statement.
Interestingly, Politico isn't saying it's because of Trump.
It's because of opinion-based content.
panels current and former staffers say and this is the more fair statement.
Interestingly Politico isn't saying it's because of Trump it's because of
opinion-based content. Real news is dying and in most instances dead. You may have
noticed that I do a lot of opinion.
In fact, my second channel, where it's almost entirely opinion, and it's like, look, I talk about Star Wars on that channel, it's doing substantially better than my main channel.
And it frustrates me.
I mean, look, it's great that I have two channels now that are doing really, really well, and I like being able to express my opinions, but it does make me sad when I realize that trying to have more balanced content that focuses on politics, conflict, and crisis And, you know, what's going on in our country does not do nearly as well as me ranting about why I don't like Star Wars, or ranting about certain political issues where I'm just talking about how I feel about economics.
The reason for this is because we have so much information today.
When a news story breaks, someone who is there will tweet about it, and we know we don't need that on-the-ground reporter.
When they're talking about Adam Housley, he talks about war zones, he talks about hurricanes and things that affect tsunamis.
But we have user-generated content.
We have citizen journalism.
People are documenting this in real time, and we don't really need as many reporters as we used to.
And thus, If you were to ask me, I think these reporters are quitting simply because we don't need hard, on-the-ground journalism like we used to.
We do need investigative reporting, and we do need balanced analysis, and that's what's lacking.
But analysis is still rather opinion-based.
What I do on this channel is an attempt to be balanced in terms of analysis on bigger issues.
And I feel like I do a good job.
I have to think I do a good job.
I mean, I'm doing my best.
But certainly some people think I'm either too left or too right.
And that's just the way it is.
And I would say that many of these other journalists who are leaving Fox News probably feel similarly.
But it actually gets a bit worse than that.
Because the actual original reporting has nothing to do with how Adam Housley felt.
Certainly, the other journalist did express certain feelings.
But Adam Housley, it seems, is being politicized to an extreme degree.
Because the real reason, at least according to him, why he left Fox News, is because he wants to spend time with his family and work in his family's winery.
Sounds rather simple.
This is a guy who covered war zones.
And I can assure you, having been to many conflicts, some people really love just living in it and staying there until they meet their untimely end.
And that happens to a lot of people.
Some people are willing to risk everything to get that story.
Some people are addicted to it.
I'm not necessarily one of those people, though I do like being on the ground for these big breaking stories, but there does come a time in everyone's life, maybe after 17 years, where you say, I just don't want to go into these dangerous situations anymore, and I want to experience life with my family, maybe make a little wine.
And that's what makes sense, right?
So let's look at some of the original reporting.
TV Newser.
Adam Housley is leaving Fox News.
TV Newser has learned that Fox News Channel senior correspondent Adam Housley is leaving the network at the end of the month.
The L.A.-based Housley is leaving Fox News Channel and moving up the coast to San Francisco to spend more time with his two young kids and wife, actress co-host of The Real, Tamara Mowry Housley.
They then show a statement from Fox News where they say thank you, and then they talk about his career covering Hurricane Katrina, earthquakes, tsunamis.
Nowhere does it mention Donald Trump or anything to that effect.
So why is it that people are now claiming, look, Newsweek is claiming it's because of Donald Trump.
Absolutely not true.
Troy Hayden tweeted this out three days ago.
ago. Just did a great live shot for our morning show from Hawaii and this
afternoon he announces he is leaving Fox News to run his family's winery and
spend more time with family. Red of Ancestron, it is 100% true that is his
He wanted to spend more time with his wife, Tamara, and two kids.
And then we have a statement from Adam Housley himself.
Yep.
And both sides in this political battle whine over the collapse of news.
out of context.
Use my leaving for family as a political pawn or jab.
Assign quotes and statements to me that I never said.
Yep.
And both sides in this political battle whine over the collapse of news.
He added, Shocking.
My leaving Fox News quickly gets political on Twitter.
Yep.
The sad world we live in.
I'm sure gonna enjoy that glass of wine while the polarized in this country duke it out.
Maybe one day.
One day we can find common ground first, rather than just call names.
And someone responded to him, then perhaps you should try to be a part of the solution rather than the problem.
You and Connor Powell blaming the president certainly doesn't help heal.
He responded, didn't blame the president, didn't blame anyone.
Just left for my kids and other opportunities on good terms.
Someone else decided to make it political.
Got it?
Newsweek used his statement from that tweet at the bottom of their story where they claimed he left because of Donald Trump.
They knew he denounced that rhetoric.
They knew he didn't leave because of that, but they claimed it anyway.
Why is that?
Why is it that so many media outlets, particularly left-leaning ones, are going to lie about why these journalists left?
The other journalist that left. Let's take a look at what he said.
Fox News correspondent departs, reportedly was uncomfortable with direction of the news organization.
Fox News foreign correspondent Connor Powell is leaving Fox News after a nine-year run in the network's news division.
Powell made his departure public via Facebook post this past Friday, noting that we will head back to the U.S.
in the coming days.
After nearly nine years, I've decided to resign from Fox News.
Those of you who have spoken to me in recent months, you will understand why I'm leaving
Fox News Channel," Powell said in the post.
To my many friends at the channel, I wish you the best of luck.
If anyone knows of any jobs in media and journalism, please contact me, Powell continued.
Atiya, Arian, and I will be back in the USA in coming days.
The Wrap reported yesterday that Powell, a Jerusalem-based reporter, is departing Fox News because he's uncomfortable about the direction of the news organization over the past few months.
Fewer news shows, more opinion shows, less resources for reporters to report, a source familiar with Powell's thinking told The Wrap.
The reason he is leaving Apparently has nothing to do with Donald Trump either.
So why did Newsweek make this headline?
It is absolutely fake news.
It's actually rather shocking to me to see this.
I know exactly... I should say, based on this reporting, I feel empathy for why this man, Connor Powell, is leaving.
Because I've experienced similar things.
News companies know that spending exorbitant amounts of money to go on the ground to report something that's already being covered by locals and citizen journalists is... it's not really worth it.
So a lot of these outlets are focusing on opinion.
The reason why Vox and Breitbart, left and right hyper-partisan channels, do so well is because opinion sells better than the news.
If someone is going to say, this is what happened and we're done, do we really need a thousand news channels telling us the same thing?
We don't.
So people start seeking out more in-depth information.
They want to go beyond the headline.
They want that analysis.
Unfortunately, most of that analysis is hyper-partisan to the left or the right.
When I read the story, I don't think he was upset about the types of opinions that were being had, but simply they want more opinion and less news.
And I can assure you a lot of journalists don't want to play that game.
And it sucks.
For a long time, I didn't want to do anything like I'm doing now.
But I realized when I do live reporting, I would do commentary if things slowed down.
And eventually I realized there are two things that we absolutely need.
Investigative reporting, which I am working on with Subverse, and analysis.
The reason I do what I do is because I feel like most of the news that's coming out from all these different outlets is hyper-partisan left or right, and there's not really a centrist or center kind of channel.
I was talking- I don't want to- kind of off-the-record conversation, so I'll be light about this, but someone did confirm to me, essentially, that most of the independent channels that produce news content and politics on YouTube are conservative.
There are very few liberal channels.
And of the channels that are liberal, they tend to be far left.
YouTube is an alternative space, so your left-wing voices are most likely going to be an alternative to the mainstream media, and your right-wing voices are there because they don't have as much power in the mainstream media.
But where is a moderate American liberal or conservative voice that can say, you know, be rational and be balanced?
Certainly there are some rational conservative voices on YouTube, but there are very few rational liberal voices on YouTube.
And so there's a reason why I have no problem calling out the alt-right or the regressive left, because I find them to be just too far away from what is normal to most Americans.
And by all means, if you find yourself in the regressive left or alt-right or however you want to describe yourself, you're entitled to your opinion and by all means give my videos a thumbs down and comment below.
That's what I want to encourage.
Kind of a more rational, closer to the ground discussion.
The media in this country lies too much.
I don't know if they're lying more than they're not lying and you'll notice that my opinion kind of shifts back and forth from time to time from being more extreme to just not trusting the media at all to being a little bit more trusting but I typically err on the side of I think they do a good job for the most part But they often do a really bad job.
Now, this is not the same for websites like The Daily Beast or Newsweek or Breitbart, because I don't use those sites for obvious reasons.
I do use them sometimes.
If an issue affects the right, I will use a right-wing site.
If an issue affects the left, I will use a left-wing site to avoid accusations of hard bias.
If there is a, you know, Vox article, for instance, that says Antifo is attacking cops, I use Vox because Vox is on the left, and you can't accuse me of using a biased source because it's biased in your favor and still critical of you, and that's why I do it.
But Newsweek here, they're lying, and everyone else seems to be picking up the slack and joining in on the lie.
And even Politico, who did a pretty good job, still kind of politicized it, and they didn't really tell people what was actually going on.
A guy left Fox News because he wanted to be with his family.
Why is that political?
Another guy left Fox News because he doesn't want to be involved in opinion channels and they don't have the resources for him and he really wants to do journalism.
Common sentiment I have seen among journalists.
The politicization is all about the culture war.
People on the left in mainstream media don't like the fact that Trump calls them fake news, says CNN is fake news, so the best thing they can do is claim that Fox News reporters are quitting Because Trump is ruining everything and that's just not true.
Fox News is the number one cable channel right now.
They beat out CNN and MSNBC combined.
So we'll see what happens and we'll see what people actually believe come November.
Now I can't speak for the Republicans who are running in the midterms.
People might not support them and they might still support Trump.
But 2020 will be the real test.
Is there going to be a massive shift?
Is Trump really damaging these news brands?
Are journalists really upset about it?
Personally, I don't think so.
I know a lot of people who work for Fox News and don't really care.
It's all just a political game to everybody.
And that's what really freaks me out.
When the media is willing to put forth these lies, how do you know what you're getting is true?
And that's terrifying.
Newsweek straight up lied.
This is not about Donald Trump.
At least according to the statements made by the two journalists, Newsweek made that up.
Let me know what you think in the comments below and we'll keep the conversation going.
You know, I often say, as I said just moments ago, For the most part, the media does a good job.
There's an app called NewsGuard, which rates sites based on whether they're credible or not, and they're very lenient.
They give Fox News a green checkmark, they give CNN a green checkmark, they give BuzzFeed a green checkmark, and they give the Daily Caller and the Daily Wire a green checkmark, so I don't think they have a partisan bias.
But they're very lenient on opinion.
And these sites, like Vox and like Breitbart, are so heavily opinionated that it kind of skews the truth in a dangerous direction.
And yes, I'm not going to get into it because I've done many videos about this, but the truth can easily be made to sound like a lie.
It's very, it's not super complicated, but you can trick people with deceptive language to use facts and claim you are being honest, but make them think the wrong thing.
When Newsweek claims these journalists are leaving because of Donald Trump, that's an outright lie.
And I don't know how else to respond to that other than to say it.
Newsweek lied.
So again, comment below.
