[PREVIEW] Episode 162: The End of the End of History???

Bryce and Liz mock remote recording as "neoliberal" while introducing Noam Chomsky via video, then satirically declare the "end of history" through their fictional spider organization—erasing Dilma Rousseff, Theresa May, and blocking Hillary Clinton—before pivoting to Alex Hokali, co-host of Alpha Bungabunga Global Politics Podcast and author of The End of the End of History, amid chaotic São Paulo Forum 2 chaos. They dissect Brazil’s "Brazilianization" trend, revisiting Bolsonaro’s COVID-19 legacy nearly a year later, framing it as a global shift from liberalism’s collapse to something far more unstable. Working From Home Neoliberalism 00:04:58
Brace.
I miss recording in person.
Me too.
You know, this whole recording by screen thing just feels so neoliberal.
You like that?
It's like, because like now I'm working from home and it's just like.
Yeah, you got the email job.
I know.
it's so fucking neoliberal say it say it where it got me feeling hella neoliberal today Yeah, hell yeah.
This work from home pussy got me feeling hella neoliberal.
Hello, everyone.
Hi.
I'm Bryce.
Low energy Brace.
The Coke war off.
The Coke Cola.
I drank it.
3.30.
Now it's 6.
I'm tired now.
Oh, my God.
Hello, everyone.
I'm Liz.
Oh, now you're low energy, too?
I'm just trying to meet you halfway, buddy.
We are joined by young Chomsky, who's ensconced in darkness right now, lit only by the glow of his computer screen.
Dark.
Bright white t-shirt, though.
Yeah, And a weird symbol on it, but I don't even know if I got to get into that.
The podcast is called Truanon.
Yes, Truanon.
Hello.
Welcome, everyone.
Welcome to the end of her story.
We are finally, finally.
Declaring the end.
Yeah, as Operation Car Wash was first put into practice on taking out Dilma.
We have subsequently, my spider organization, not the Spider Network, although it does share every single member of the same, that spans the globe has systematically taken out Teresa May.
We got Angela Merkel coming next.
We prevented Hillary Clinton from being president.
Our project is never ending because if history has to end, we'll tell him for yours too.
That was very cute.
That was very funny.
We're doing a talking one today.
Yeah.
Yeah, we got an interview.
Let's just get into it, having finally battered our way through columns of gyrating asses to loud, pulsating Reggaeton music,
which I assume is what people gyrate to down there.
I'm not very well traveled.
We have made it to what we call the Sao Paulo Forum 2, because due to time constraints, we couldn't come up with a different name.
So we figured it would work too.
Joining us at this forum, we have.
Alex, oh, God, forgive me for what I'm about to say.
Alex Hokali, writer and research.
I got a thumbs up for that.
Writer and researcher based in Sao Paulo, co-host of the Alpha Bungabunga Global Politics Podcast and co-author of the forthcoming book, The End of the End of History.
This is the end of the beginning of the interview, Alex.
What's happening, baby?
Thank you for joining us.
Can you repeat that?
I couldn't hear you over the very loud reggaton music in the back.
It's just constant here.
It's not even Brazilian music.
It's imported, but they just do not stop playing it.
I'm well.
Thank you.
For those who can't see, there is like an Escher type image in the back of Alex of just butts on butts on butts on butts.
That bit is correct, actually.
Yeah.
What a weird job we all have.
Okay.
Well, we have a lot to get into with you, including talking about not just your forthcoming book, like Bryce mentioned, but a piece you have in American Affairs this month called The Brazilianization of the World.
But before we get into that, because you're in Sao Paulo, I want to take this as an opportunity to kind of talk to you about what's going on down there.
Like, the last time we even kind of talked about Brazilian politics was a long time ago.
We had Vince Bevins on the show where we were sort of just talking about, I mean, what was like sort of the beginning of the Bolsonaro administration's reaction to COVID.
And now sort of, I think we're almost like a year out from when we talked to Vince.
