Brad Onishi, Associate Professor of Religious Studies at Skidmore College.
And I'm going to throw it back to you, Dan, here in a minute.
We have a lot to talk about.
It's, yeah, impeachment is wrapping up.
Anyway, there's many things happening in the world.
But I had the chance to interview Ruth Everhart this week.
And Ruth has written a book called The Me Too Reckoning on sexual abuse.
and the complicity of the church and we have one copy to give away.
It's the end of the month and so in order to be part of that giveaway we are sort of making a push for support through our Patreon and through PayPal just to kind of help keep the show going.
I know it may seem like like Dan and I are both professors and it may seem like what we're doing on the show is really just like a kind of a part of our job like this is part of our job description but in fact we don't really get any support for the show from the places where we work and I'll just speak for myself Dan but I've had several people tell me that doing this show and spending so much time on it and you know
Basically putting out content twice a week is actually a really bad career move for me because I'm spending so much time on this rather than what other folks in the Academy consider serious scholarship or something like that.
So I obviously don't feel that way because I'm here and this is what is important to me among other things.

So all of that out of the way, Dan, I'll just say I am really tired this week and I hope that you can carry the energy because I've been traveling and I've had a bunch of stuff going on.
But I'm going to throw it to you first.
So we want to do our first segment, which is always, did you see that?
And I think you've got a couple things on that topic.
So what do you got?
Yeah, so before I do that, I should have prepped better and shaved my head closer and I could have done the Dr. Strange $1,000,000.
If anybody has a million laying around that they want to throw out, they can.
But anyway, yeah, so coming down from that, like, sort of laughing note, in the Did You See That?, what I wanted to talk about were this, it's a sort of a spate of states that are legislating against Treatments for transgender youth.
I don't think I've shared this on the podcast.
We've talked about a lot of LGBTQ issues, but I'm the parent of a transgender child.
Young child.
And so this is one that sort of hits really home for me in a lot of ways.
But for those who might not know, I think it's like something like six states now have like legislation that's been proposed or is pending that would criminalize the provision of, they tend to describe it, I would describe it as gender affirming Transition treatments for minors and by that we mean they'll they'll list like gender confirmation surgery Which is almost never performed on minors.
Anyway, that's kind of a non-issue for lots of reasons Some legitimate some not but they're also talking about hormone replacement therapies They're talking about what are known as puberty blockers for those who don't know and Pre-pubescent kids who identify as trans or who cross-gender identify or identify as, you know, non-gender or something like that.
