Millie Weaver reporting for Infowars.com.
We are here at the capital of Colorado in Denver.
We're outside of the capital.
You can see they have a big sign that says, Denver hearts immigrants.
Denver loves immigrants.
Now, this is most likely speaking to the fact that Denver city officials and the Denver mayor have declared Denver a sanctuary city, essentially offering sanctuary to illegal immigrants and refugees.
Now, I'm here with some guys here that just came along and I started a conversation with them.
What do you guys think about this sign here?
Well, you know, oh man, I'm on the spot right now.
What do you think about this sign?
So I think that the sign, it symbolizes that like we are just like all welcoming.
We just like want to show that like we're a nice city and we're just here just to like bring joy maybe.
I don't know, but the thing is like it's gonna bring some like sort of like negative side because some people don't like the sign.
So basically, I was trying to explain to them earlier that essentially because the city officials and the mayor have created this ordinance that Denver is a sanctuary city, when illegal immigrants get picked up for any type of crimes, the police are actually no longer allowed to contact ICE, the immigration, for deportation if in fact this person is illegal.
In fact, police officers that do decide to try and contact ICE can face fines, imprisonment, and loss of employment.
So, I mean, there are some negatives here when we're talking about, okay, immigrants, they have this sign here.
It's all cute and fluffy.
We love immigrants, which most people actually believe that as well.
Most people, we love immigrants.
We're a nation of immigrants, but we're not Not necessarily a nation for illegal immigrants and for drug cartels and drug traffickers.
What do they think the positive effects of making Denver a sanctuary city are going to be?
Well, that's an interesting one here.
See, what they're trying to do, the Denver City officials, is they're trying to make it so that, this is their argument, law-abiding, I guess if you can even have law-abiding illegal immigrants, that's kind of an oxymoron.
But essentially, people who come here illegally, if they're just hardworking, trying to go about living a normal life, they're not committing any violent crimes, if those people end up being victims of crime, Well, by Denver being a sanctuary city, essentially that would, in theory, they think it would motivate them to come forward as witnesses and that people that are victims of crimes that are illegals could report that to police.
Whereas they might be afraid to.
So that's like the positive, but if you look at the negative, where you have heroin epidemics going on in Denver right now, just last month there was actually a massive heroin bust where a half a million dollars worth of heroin was obtained.
You heard about that.
What did you hear?
Exactly what you said.
I heard that not too long ago.
I think they said it was the largest drug bust in Denver history.
Now, I don't know if that really correlates with us having illegal or legal immigrants, but the fact that we've made Denver a sanctuary city, That people that are illegal or legal can come here.
Now, if we go on the illegal side, you have to have proof of residency, proof of citizenship to be able to work out a normal job.
So the only other way to get money would perhaps be drug dealing or getting into some sort of other illegal activities or rummaging through the streets and begging for money.
And I don't think that's the kind of name we want for Denver.
I really don't.
Yeah, no, and it's not creating a safe environment for the citizens of Denver.
Now, if you said, Denver loves legal immigrants, then sure.
But immigrants is encompassing both sides.
Both sides of that, so, I don't know.
Definitely.
And now, what's interesting here with this bus, which I'm guessing you probably didn't hear about this aspect of the bus, five out of the six people who were busted in this heroin trafficking ring The five of them were illegal immigrants from Mexico and they were actually wiring large portions of the money that they would get from the drugs back to Mexico.
So that kind of points to that we're talking about cartel activity here.
Does that make you feel concerned that this is happening in your neighborhood?
Absolutely it does.
Having a cartel running around your neighborhood, probably not in the literal sense, cartel rummaging through the streets, but just having that kind of activity.
I'm from Broomfield, a little bit up north metro area, and we had large amounts of cocaine going through the area.
And I've seen what it does to the people and friends around me, and I've seen how it affects day-to-day life and how people end up Falling down a bad path just because it's around them.
And if that can be going around through the streets, it's only affecting more and more people like a disease that spreads.
Exactly.
And the overdose death rate has greatly increased now that we've had this problem with traffickers coming in.
So what do you think?
Have you seen or experienced anything with heroin or cocaine problems in Denver?
Not necessarily.
I mean, I'm also from Broomfield, so not in this specific area.
But nothing with heroin.
I've definitely seen, like, cocaine is, like, sprung out.
I went to CU, and that's, like, a really big thing there now, which is kind of upsetting.
I don't know.
I wouldn't, like, say it's because of the immigrants coming in.
I would just say it's kind of like Bolter's kind of own thing.
But, yeah, I mean, it's not too apparent.
And, I mean, I know it's coming along in certain places, and I just try to stay clear of it.
Now, here's something that's really kind of interesting.
We've talked about how, you know, you have these wonderful, more Republican, conservative-leaning policies that are good for business in a lot of states and that really kind of bloom and create good, prosperous, business-oriented societies.
And then you have a bunch of people leaving California and other Democrat strongholds that their policies have kind of caused businesses To dwindle.
They come here, they start voting their Democrat politicians in, and then you start to have more Democrat policies in, and that's when you're looking at things such as sanctuary cities.
Or, this other new ordinance that the City Council just voted through actually minimizes the punishment for public urination and defecation in the cities as well as camping and this this was aimed at making it so that life in the city can be more easy for immigrants here so that if immigrants are pooping and peeing on the street they're less likely to be being picked up and thus may be deported.
What do you think about that?
Um, you know, that's kind of turning us into old school India.
You know, people shouldn't really be defecating and pissing in the streets, in my opinion.
Do you think that's like the literal definition of a shithole?
Yeah, it definitely is.
You don't need that.
I don't want to see that.
No kids want to see that when they walk by.
Just go to a bathroom or somewhere, I don't know.
I think what the...
What the council's trying to do to Denver is trying to make it appeal to certain people who find any and all reasons to get offended or anything like that.
They want to view the world as this different place.
They want to view it how they want to view it.
And that's like putting that sign up, Denver loves immigrants.
We don't.
We don't.
Who decided to get that sign up there?
We're not against immigrants.
It's just like, no one collectively wrote in this petition to put that sign up, but it's okay.
Yeah, it was just simply the decision of whoever, probably the mayor's decision to put that sign up.
Honestly, he himself is a Democrat.
Now, here's another little interesting thing here.
Because the police have had their hands tied in Contacting and working with ICE when they bust some of these illegal immigrants for heroin and other drug offenses, ICE has resorted to going and busting people outside of court.
So when people show up to court for their, even if it's a traffic offense or if it's a drug paraphernalia offense and they're an illegal immigrant, ICE shows up even though it's more risky to them and they typically try to apprehend the individuals.
Now, Guess what the city's doing to try to protect those illegal immigrants?
Which they shouldn't.
The cities have actually made it so that with what they call minor violations, traffic offenses and so forth, illegal immigrants can actually Over the mail send in their pleas.
So they don't actually have to even go into court anymore like Americans do.
They can just mail in their plea through the mail so that they don't have to risk getting deported for breaking the law.
I think that if they want to come over here and pretend to be us, they have to do the exact same things we do.
I don't think that they should have any sort of special privileges to be able to plea through the mail.
I can't do that.
I can't write into the court and say, hey, I don't really want to go into court because I'm scared I'm going to get arrested, you know?
And that's a type of detainment.
That is a type of detainment.
You know, I don't know.
I think that's just evading.
And that's just as bad as having them here in the first place, you know?
I don't know.
Yeah, it's definitely unfair treatment when we're having people coming here illegal and then you've got these Democrat policymakers giving them special treatment so that they don't have to follow the same laws that American citizens do.
Now, American citizens, most of them would have to take a day off of work.
They wouldn't be getting paid that day.
They had to show up and sit through court all day.
But see, this illegal immigrant, he can just send in his plea through the mail, and he doesn't have to miss out work, you know, if he's most likely here working under the table.
What do you think about all of this?
I mean, what's your opinion on it?
Well, I think that Denver should be a little less lenient in giving them these abilities to kind of stay under the radar and not be detected, to be deported out, because I mean, we're just like, we're a happy community.
We just want every, like, best thing to happen here.
We don't want anything, any, like, negatives to come in really.
So, I mean, we're happy where we are and I think that we don't really need to make a big deal out of this.
Definitely.
And it makes sense for citizens of Denver to be concerned about their safety and their lives when the police are having their hands tied and not being able to properly communicate with ICE as well as the FBI and the Department of Justice when it comes to doing these busts when they're apprehending people who are illegal immigrants.
And that's why these Sanctuary cities have come into debate in Congress where we just recently had a Denver police officer who happened to be the president of the Denver Police Union come before Congress and testify that yes, he has seen drastic changes in Denver.
It is in fact a sanctuary city and the police have had their hands tied and have not been able to Properly protect the citizens of Denver.
