Just wanted to kind of touch base with him, give him a second to tell us why he feels certain things are important.
So Jared, take a minute, introduce yourself, tell him who you are, what you do, and then...
Tell the people why you feel it's important to be a member of the NRA. Absolutely.
Jared Ogden, own Triumph Systems, combat veteran, so I take training very seriously.
And the reason I was laughing during the introduction is I've seen you I don't know how many hundreds of times.
You have never seen me dressed up before.
No, I've never seen you without a hat on.
Exactly.
So this is a first.
But anyways, we're here at NRA, annual meeting 2017, having a great time.
The reason why this is so important, what we're doing is so important, is because as Americans, one thing that separates us from the rest of the world is the fact that we can own firearms.
We can bear arms.
It is absolutely important.
If it's something that you choose to do, it is your absolute responsibility to train.
Because at the end of the day...
You are responsible for every single round that leaves your firearm.
That's what we're here for.
So we absolutely want you to buy a firearm.
We want you to carry.
We want you to use your certain inalienable rights.
But we're huge proponents of training.
Just having a gun, just having a concealed carry permit is just not enough.
If you are going to carry, it's super responsible to go out and take some good training courses.
So tell us, Jared, what other rights are important or saved because of the Second Amendment?
What are the rights that are important or saved?
I'm a believer in the only reason we have the First Amendment is because we have the Second Amendment.
That's a good point and I agree with that.
At the end of the day, the Second Amendment exists because we're fearful people.
You look at our history.
You look at where we come from.
You look at all the different events going on around the world, there is evil.
We have reason to be fearful, and we have reason to fear our government.
I think it was Ronald Reagan that said, we are one generation from freedom going into existence.
It is very true.
So that's why we have firearms, so that we can protect ourselves.
And the other thing is, I don't want to live in a police state.
And if you don't have firearms, you're really relying upon the police to defend you.
I don't want to live in a police state.
My personal safety is my responsibility.
So I'm a huge believer that my self-defense is my right, my ability to defend myself, defend others, defend people who may not be able to defend themselves.
