Jakari Jackson here, out here in Cleveland, Ohio, right outside the Cavalier Stadium.
You guys can see that.
And, of course, the reason we're here, Officer Brillo.
With all the high-profile cases of questionable police actions in the country over the past, I guess, just the past year, it's kind of fell under the radar, but people here in Cleveland haven't forgot.
So, Officer Brillo, for those who don't know, He's facing some very serious charges for an incident that happened back in 2012 where he, as well as many other officers, were in pursuit of some suspects.
And Officer Brillo took it upon himself to actually jump on the hood of the car the suspects were in.
Fired multiple rounds and is now being charged with manslaughter.
Many people were questioning, is it going to stay manslaughter?
Is it going to be something Lesser, something worse.
We really don't know.
They came out today and announced on the news that they're not expecting a verdict until tomorrow at the earliest.
So we'll be out here to document what happens.
And I'm very happy to say that you can see what's going on out here.
That's the Cleveland Indian Stadium Progressive Field right across the street.
It's very quiet out here.
I was out here shooting my selfie video.
You know, no National Guard on the street corners, no riots, no looting.
So it's a very calm atmosphere.
I hope it stays that way because right now the Cavaliers are getting ready to go to the playoffs.
I believe their first game is on Wednesday.
So it's a nice quiet atmosphere and we'll be out here to document whatever happens.
But hopefully, you know, things stay just like they are now.
But it brings to mind an article I saw earlier today.
Actually, let me pull out my phone so I can reference it properly.
Basically, the White House came out and was talking about militarized police.
You know, that's something I talk about quite a bit as well.
But here's the article out of Newsweek.
White House proposes limits on use of military equipment by police.
Which on the surface, if I was somebody who was halfway paying attention, I'd praise them, like, yeah, that's a good idea, great job, White House.
But the issue is, these guys have been getting their military equipment from the Pentagon.
So when you hear the Justice Department get on TV and talk about, we need to federalize the police, if you think...
Federalizing the police is somehow going to get rid of all these MRAPs and grenade launchers and all this other stuff that these guys have.
I got some motion front property back in Oklahoma and from my front porch you can see the seat.
That's not going to happen.
And while I definitely do agree that changes need to be made, you need to make real change.
Example, stop giving these guys these MRAPs.
And grenade launchers.
Now, my understanding is what the White House is proposing would stop federal grants and stuff like that, not so much what these guys go out and buy privately.
But, you know, hopefully that would be something for the better.
Like I said, if they don't want these guys to have it, they shouldn't have gave it to them in the first place.
And they sell this stuff to these guys at dirt cheap prices, you know, rock bottom.
These guys can get a brand new MRAP or Bearcat.
Cheaper than you and I can go out and buy a used minivan.
This shows you how they get this stuff.
This is the Indian Stadium right here.
So we'll be out here to document at least for the next few days and see what happens.
Like I said, hopefully it stays just like this, nice and quiet.
Well, it'll get a little rowdier later in the week when the Cavaliers start playing in the playoffs, but hopefully no drama, no issues, and hopefully the country can learn from the mistakes of the past and begin to build a Better future.
